{ foxnews.com } ~ British Airways ceased all of its direct flights to and from mainland China amid the coronavirus outbreak -- with the decision coming after the United Kingdom advised against "all but essential" travel to the rest of the country on Tuesday... When logging into BA.com, the official website for the airline, it currently shows no direct flights to the country -- with a posted notice, "Sorry, there are no direct flights for this route, flights with connections are below." “We apologize to customers for the inconvenience, but the safety of our customers and crew is always our priority,” BA said in an emailed statement to Reuters on Wednesday. “Customers due to travel to or from China in the coming days can find more information on BA.com.” The Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) said the decision to advise against traveling to the rest of mainland China not including Hong Kong and Macao was due to the restrictions of movement placed by the government in response to the outbreak. "It may become harder over the coming weeks for those who wish to leave China to do so," the FCO said. "If you feel that you may want to leave China soon, you should consider making plans to do so before any further restrictions may be imposed." Multiple countries have started evacuating their citizens from China because of the deadly virus, which has killed 132 people and infected more than 6,000 on the mainland and abroad. China has cut off access to Wuhan -- the epicenter of the virus -- as well as 16 other cities in Hubei province to prevent people from leaving and spreading the virus further. The United States, Japan, and South Korea have also planned evacuations. The U.S. has reported five infections since the outbreak started, according to the CDC. Several countries have confirmed cases of the virus, with most of them being Chinese visitors, people who visited Wuhan or family members in close contact with the sick. Japan's six confirmed cases include a tour bus driver who drove visiting groups from Wuhan. Germany says four workers at an auto parts company possibly were infected when a colleague from Shanghai visited.

{ washingtonexaminer.com } ~ Three rockets have hit the U.S. Embassy in Baghdad. Three Katyusha rockets hit inside the compound while as many as five others landed in the area surrounding it, according to reports... American defense officials said that no one was killed in the attack, but some were wounded. It is unclear how severe the injuries are. A U.S. official told  CNN that one rocket hit the embassy's dining facility, causing damage but no fatalities."We are aware of reports of rockets landing in the International Zone. We call on the Government of Iraq to fulfill its obligations to protect our diplomatic facilities," a Department of Defense representative told the Washington Examiner. "We will not comment further on the security situation in Baghdad." Iraqi Prime Minister Adil Abdul Mahdi condemned the rocket attack and ordered Iraqi security forces to "deploy, search, and investigate to prevent the recurrence of such attacks, and to arrest those who launched these rockets so that they can be punished." The strike comes after a similar attack on Jan. 20, when three Katyusha rockets fell near the U.S. Embassy. No injuries were reported in that incident. Tension in the Middle East has escalated in recent weeks since top Iranian Gen. Qassem Soleimani orchestrated a violent protest outside of the American Embassy in Baghdad. The United States responded with a drone strike on Jan. 2 that killed Soleimani.   https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/news/three-rockets-make-direct-hit-on-us-embassy-in-baghdad-report
Russian President Putin signed
decree to pardon Naama Issachar

{ .jpost.com } ~ Russian President Vladimir Putin pardoned Naama Issachar hours before Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was set to fly from Washington to Moscow on Wednesday... Netanyahu said: “I thank my friend President Putin for granting a pardon to Naama Issachar.”  The prime minister added that he expects to discuss US President Donald Trump’s peace plan and other diplomatic developments in his meeting with Putin on Thursday. Issachar, 26, is an American-Israeli who was sentenced to 7.5 years in prison in Russia after 9.5 gr. of cannabis were found in suitcase during a stopover in  Moscow en route home to Israel from a trip to India. Issachar’s mother, Yaffa Issachar, said she had been waiting for this moment for almost a year. “It has been a long journey that I would not wish upon anyone,” she said. “Now, all I want is to hug my daughter Naama. I thank Prime Minister Netanyahu from the heart for his diplomatic determination and great efforts... I also thank Russian President Vladimir Putin for showing mercy.” A senior Israeli source said Issachar’s release “was a gesture by President Putin to the prime minister. There was no deal with Russia.” “The state acted on Naama’s case not only because of mutual responsibility that was true in other cases, but out of a desire to resolve a matter that could have hurt sensitive relations between Israel and Russia, and in light of an evaluation that the state’s stance on another matter hurt Naama,” the source said. The other matter is likely Israel’s extradition of hacker Alexei Burkov to the US. Issachar has been in prison in Moscow since mid-2019, and her case has garnered public attention in Israel...

GOP develops aggressive 'Plan B' in
impeachment trial, as several Dems appear

{ foxnews.com } ~ With several Democrats openly floating the possibility  they might vote to acquit President Trump, congressional Republicans are planning an aggressive "Plan B" strategy in the event some Republicans break off... and demand additional witnesses in the president's impeachment trial, Fox News has learned. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., privately said early Tuesday that he wasn't sure there were enough Republican votes to block more witnesses, given that some moderates in the GOP's 53-47 Senate majority were wavering. Any witness resolution would likely require four Republican defections in the Senate, because in the event of a 50-50 tie, Chief Justice of the United States John Roberts is highly likely to abstain rather than assert his debatable power to cast a tiebreaking vote. Late Tuesday night, a Senate leadership source told Fox News that Republicans were specifically assessing the viability of two alternative options. One plan is to amend any resolution calling for a particular witness to also include a package of witnesses  that assuredly wouldn't win enough support in the Senate. For example, if the Democrats seek to call former National Security Advisor John Bolton, Republicans might subpoena Hunter Biden over his lucrative board position  in Ukraine, and Rep. scumbag/liar-Adam Schiff, D-Calif., over his inconsistent statements concerning his panel's  contacts with the whistleblower at the center of the impeachment probe." After listening to the Dems’ 20+ hours of argument and the rebuttal arguments from  @realDonaldTrump, I’ve got lots of questions for the Dems," tweeted Missouri GOP Sen. Josh Hawley on Tuesday. "Like this one: Why did scumbag/liar-Schiff lie about his contact with the 'whistleblower'? More to come!" The "package deal" proposal could afford moderate Republicans the political cover of supporting more witnesses in theory, while ultimately rejecting a witness package they deem flawed. Even if a witness package passed, the resolution could be written such that the witness phase of the trial ends immediately if a key witness, such as Hunter Biden, defies his subpoena. The Federalist senior editor and Fox News contributor Mollie Hemingway observed that in the House impeachment proceedings, Democrats allowed themselves to call significantly more witnesses than they afforded to their Republican colleagues -- raising the possibility Republicans could reasonably insist on an equally  favorable "ratio" in the Senate trial when putting together a prospective package of witnesses. A lopsided ratio in favor of the GOP also could lead some Democrats to oppose a witness package...

Why The Senate Shouldn’t Call
More Impeachment Witnesses

{ thefederalist.com } ~ The impeachment trial of President Trump is in full force, and congressional Democrats are already blaming Republicans for their alleged unwillingness to allow additional witnesses... While this ploy was not unexpected, and Senate Republicans have not entirely ruled out permitting additional witnesses, there are various reasons additional witnesses should not be permitted. To begin, there is a very compelling argument that the impeachment has been a sham from the start. The president was not afforded the right to due process, Republican members of the House were not permitted to call or question witnesses i.e., the whistleblower, scumbag/liar-Adam Schiff, loose lips liar-Joe or Hunter Biden, and the resolution passed in the House gave scumbag/liar-Schiff the final say as to who was ultimately permitted to testify.Tangentially, there was no evidence of a crime, let alone an impeachable offense, despite the fact that Democrats were in control of the entire process while it was in the House. Given the foregoing, there is no reason to permit any additional witnesses to testify, as this would merely prolong, and legitimize, this sham process. A second reason additional witnesses should not be permitted is because House Democrats had the chance to call them during their inquiry. According to scumbag/liar-Schiff, “What Senator rino-Collins and the other senators need to realize is we did try to get these witnesses in the House. We subpoenaed many of these witnesses. And because of the President’s obstruction, they ignored those lawful subpoenas. Donald Trump’s Justice Department is in court saying the House cannot go to court to enforce its subpoenas.” What scumbag/liar-Schiff is really saying is that various witnesses refused to comply with House subpoenas and the House did not want to issue the necessary subpoenas or wait until a court ruled on their enforceability or any objections thereto. Rather, scumbag/liar-Schiff and his Democratic colleagues rushed to vote on the articles of impeachment without following the proper procedure to secure the testimony of these various witnesses or obtain the requested documents. Although House Democrats “botched” the process, they are now blaming Republicans in the Senate, who are opposed to, or apprehensive about, permitting additional witnesses from being called during trial. Additionally, while some Democrats are also accusing Republicans of refusing to hold a “fair trial,” Senate Republicans have every right to prevent any Democratic efforts to call additional witnesses...

{ pjmedia.com } ~ There was an unintended moment of levity during a break at the Senate impeachment trial of President Trump on Tuesday... Connecticut Senator Richard Blumenthal, one of the designated "spin doctors" sent to the microphones to clean up any damage to the Democrats' message caused by President Trump's impeachment attorneys, dropped an unintentional truth bomb during a media interview. C-SPAN broke away from the proceedings in time to hear Blumenthal say this about the Trump defense lawyers: It was a fact-free summation of a case bereft of evidence – we need the evidence. We need the witnesses and documents... They may have the votes at this moment, but I hope my colleagues will look themselves in the mirror ... What we want is the truth, not some quid pro quo on the witnesses... Look what he said about the case. Was he really accusing the Trump lawyers of having a case that was "bereft of evidence"? Look at the next sentence. Blumenthal said, "we need evidence." The Trump defense team did provide additional information to the Democrat House Managers during the trial, but, while it's politically smart, the burden of proving the case is certainly not on the president's team. It's up to the Democrat House Managers to make their case, which, by Blumenthal's lights, is "bereft of evidence." Blumenthal's plea for witnesses and documents — "we need the evidence" — only underscores how hastily the House put their "bereft of evidence" case together. ABC News captured the first part of Blumenthal's remarks, which go after the Trump team: His Freudian slip is a pretty funny comment about a deadly serious event. And, let's face it, we could use a laugh right about now.   https://pjmedia.com/trending/lol-democrat-just-accidentally-admitted-house-impeachment-case-is-evidence-free/

I must have said it a dozen times since the Democrats’ impeachment miniseries took over our televisions, but I’ll say it again.

The Democrats and their allies in the liberal media think history began this morning when they rolled out of the left side of their beds.

It happened again during the Democrats’ opening impeachment tirades in the Senate.

Democrats are still wasting our time — and ignoring their jobs — trying to prove that President Trump should be impeached because he abused the power of his office and because he obstructed Congress by claiming executive privilege.

The obstruction charges against Trump are for refusing to let administration officials testify before the impeachment hearings in the House and for withholding documents the House had requested.

Well, if using or threatening to use executive privilege for those reasons are impeachable crimes, George Washington and every president since JFK, including my father, is guilty — often on multiple counts.

In 1962, for example, JFK used executive privilege to order his military adviser General Maxwell Taylor to refuse to testify before a congressional committee investigating the Bay of Pigs fiasco.

Between 1980 and 2012 it was used 25 times.

President scumbag/liar-Clinton, the all-time modern leader, asserted executive privilege 14 times to try to keep his staff from appearing before various grand juries and congressional committees.

George W. Bush used it six times, including in 2008 when he told his Attorney General to assert executive privilege in response to a congressional subpoena for documents related to an investigation into who outed Valerie Plame as a CIA operative.

Meanwhile, President scumbag/liar-nObama employed executive privilege so many times that even the liberal media of the day questioned the legitimacy of invoking it.

The prime example was the infamous “Fast and Furious” case in 2012, when Attorney General scumbag-Eric Holder used executive privilege to shield documents from Congress that were related to the scumbag/liar-nObama administration’s program to let illegally purchased guns flow across the Mexican border.

Congress obviously didn’t rush out and impeach those pre-Trump presidents for obstructing Congress or for posing an existential threat to the U.S. Constitution.

They let the legitimacy of invoking executive privilege in each case be decided in the courts, where it belonged. That’s why we have three branches of government.

But now, thanks to the Democrats’ blind hatred of President Trump, the bar has been lowered to where if a president doesn’t immediately roll over and give Congress whatever people or documents it wants, he’ll get impeached.

It’s been frustrating having to watch the first three ridiculously long, tedious days of the Senate impeachment hearings, which Democrats are cynically using as a weapon to stain Trump ahead of the 2020 election and hurt some Republican senators who face tight races in the fall.

Everyone has known for months what the outcome of the House Democrats’ impeachment show trial will be — the Republican Senate will never find Trump guilty.

I’m starting to really feel sorry for the members of the Senate who are trapped at their desks for twelve-hours at a time without their smartphones.

They have to sit in silence as scumbag/liar-Schiff and his solemn crew say over and over again how the U.S. Constitution and our national security were put at risk by a phone call our treasonous president made to the president of Ukraine last summer.

All those poor senators are allowed to drink is milk and water. The rest us watching the hearings on TV are lucky.

We can always get up and do a few Jello shots or drink some tequila to pass the time and ease the pain.   ~The Patriot Post
