New Yorkers Flood Florida – Governor DeSantis Writes Executive Order Requiring
14 Day Self-Quarantine
by sundance
{ theconservativetreehouse.com } ~ Approximately 20,000 to 40,000 New Yorkers are currently arriving in Florida daily as they flee from the epicenter of the most explosive coronavirus outbreak. However, if the elderly are the most vulnerable... and if isolating the most vulnerable population is the best course of action; and with the largest population of older residents living in Florida; then why are New Yorkers allowed to travel to Florida? According to data released by Governor DeSantis: Monday saw 190 direct flights from the New York City area into various Florida airports. If 150-200 people average per flight, that’s 28,500 to 38,000 New York metropolitan area residents arriving in Florida today. In an attempt to mitigate the inbound infection spread, today Florida Governor Ron DeSantis signed an executive order requiring all arriving New York and New Jersey residents to be screened upon arrival and self-quarantine immediately after arriving in the state. Not sure how policing compliance is possible. Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis said Monday he is issuing an executive order mandating that anyone arriving on a flight from New York City and the surrounding area submit to self-quarantine for two weeks as he tries to avoid issuing a statewide shutdown similar to other states. DeSantis said in an address from his Tallahassee office that more than 100 such flights arrive daily in Florida and he believes each contains at least one person infected with the new coronavirus...
Tensions flare on Senate floor as coronavirus
bill derailed for second time by Dem objections
By Brooke Singman
{ foxnews.com } ~ Tensions flared on the Senate floor Monday as lawmakers viscerally clashed on camera over phase three of a coronavirus response package... with Democrats blocking Republican efforts to advance the massive stimulus bill for the second day in a row. Leaving the legislation in limbo once more, the Senate stalled over the package Monday afternoon on a 49-46 vote. It needed 60 votes to advance. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., then stormed to the floor to accuse Democrats of "mindless obstruction" that could drag out any action for days. He said Democrats' list of demands keeps getting "longer and longer." Democrats argue the more-than $1 trillion package did too much for large corporations and not enough for workers, but Republicans accuse them of playing politics and using the crisis as leverage to try and jam through unrelated political "wish list" items concerning climate change and more. “The country is burning, and your side wants to play political games,” Senate Majority Whip John Thune, R-S.D., said shortly before the vote. “It is time to get this done. The American people expect us to act, they need action. We need to get this done for the American people.” Thune slammed Democrats—specifically moderate Democratic Sen. Joe Manchin, D-W.Va., who just moments earlier said the bill was “weighted toward the Wall Street corporation side.” “Here we are dilly-dallying around,” Thune said. “This bill is about workers, families, people out there hurting economically—we’re in a position to do something about it and it is high time that we did.” Emotions ran so high on the floor before the vote that at one point Senate Minority Whip scumbag-Dick Durbin, D-Ill., implored colleagues to take a breath and focus on the work. “We’re going to get this done today,” scumbag-Durbin said. “Everyone take a breath. Everyone is emotional today, but we’re going to get this done. We have a job to do.”...  https://www.foxnews.com/politics/tensions-flare-on-senate-floor-coronavirus
Coronavirus: Should the U.S.
Lift Sanctions on Iran?
by Majid Rafizadeh
{ gatestoneinstitute.org } ~ While the US administration is expanding its maximum pressure policy on Iran, some people, such as US Senator commie-Bernie Sanders, are calling for immediate relief for the Iranian regime... "As a caring nation," commie-Sanders recently posted on Twitter, "we must lift any sanctions hurting Iran's ability to address this crisis, including financial sanctions." Lifting sanctions on the aggressive regime of Iran would be an extremely wrong move. What politicians such commie-Sanders seem not to recognize is that the Islamic Republic prioritizes its military adventurism over its nation's health crisis. In other words, Iran's regime will almost certainly use the extra revenues to arm its militias across the region that attack the US and its allies' forces, as it has a pattern of doing in the past. Amid the coronavirus crisis, for example, Iran-backed militias have been ratcheting up their rockets attacks in Iraq. A rocket attack killed several members of the US-led Coalition at Iraq's Camp Taji on March 11. Approximately eighteen 107mm Katyusha rockets slammed into Camp Taji, killing two American soldiers and one British soldier in recent weeks. In Syria, the Iranian regime has recently ratcheted up its efforts to recruit young Shia fighters. Iranian forces and its militia in Syria such as "Saraya Al-Areen" have recently recruited around 9,000 young fighters from Shia communities in Sayda, Da'el, and Izraa, and have sent them for military training, according to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR). Mass recruitment can also be witnessed in the north-east around the Euphrates River in the north-east and near Deir Ez-Zor province. Iran is also exploiting the economic crisis by offering financial incentives to the fighters. "Those young people hurry to join the ranks of Iranian-backed militias because of the deteriorating living conditions and lack of job opportunities" according to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR)...   https://www.gatestoneinstitute.org/15788/coronavirus-sanctions-iran
US slashes aid to Afghanistan by $1B as
power struggle threatens Taliban peace deal
by Joel Gehrke
{ washingtonexaminer.com } ~ President Trump is slashing aid to Afghanistan in response to a deadlock over the results of the most recent presidential election, which threatens to blow up an historic deal with the Taliban... “The United States is disappointed in them and what their conduct means for Afghanistan and our shared interests,” Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said Monday, in reference to Afghan President Ashraf Ghani and his rival, former Chief Executive Abdullah Abdullah. Ghani was declared the winner of Afghanistan’s presidential election in December, but the campaign was postponed repeatedly, and Abdullah refused to concede defeat. Pompeo attempted to negotiate a breakthrough in an abrupt visit to Kabul on Monday, but the two Afghan leaders remained at odds, prompting a $1 billion cut in U.S. aid, with more to come if the problem lingers. “We are prepared to reduce by another $1 billion in 2021,” Pompeo said. “We will also initiate a review of all of our programs and projects to identify additional reductions and reconsider our pledges to future donor conferences for Afghanistan.” The political dispute is a significant impediment to the Taliban peace deal that Pompeo’s team signed last month. The agreement calls for the Taliban and Afghan officials to appoint negotiating teams to travel for talks in Norway, but the power struggle has delayed that process. “We are in a crisis,” a senior State Department official told reporters in Kabul. “The fear is that, unless this crisis gets resolved and resolved soon, that could affect the peace process … and our agreement with the Talibs could be put at risk.” The pact already is threatened by a vicious flurry of attacks by the Taliban, as the militant group maintains that the ceasefire agreed to at the signing of the deal only applies to conflict with U.S. forces...  https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/policy/defense-national-security/u-s-slashes-aid-to-afghanistan-by-1-billion-as-power-struggle-threatens-taliban-peace-deal?utm_source=WEX_Breaking%20News%20Alert_03/23/2020&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=WEX_Breaking%20News&rid=5261
President Trump Signs Executive Order
Targeting: Hoarding, Price Gouging
and Supply Chain
by sundance
{ theconservativetreehouse.com } ~ To understand the purpose and specific need of the latest Executive Order CTH can share a familiar analogy to help better conceptualize the issues. There are several supply chains that are being affected by the coronavirus mitigation effort... two specific sectors involve healthcare products and food distribution. Today’s executive order targets both. As a network of U.S. manufacturing continues to increase the production of healthcare products, masks, shields, ventilators and medicines; any hoarding or pricing opportunism around those items is obviously a matter of great interest for overall public health. However, as time continues to expand, the impacts on another critical sector actually start to worsen…. Most people have no idea the complexity of the field-to-fork supply chain. Imagine a country where the internal economy was based on two modes of transit, built out over two generations. Fifty percent of all transit in cars, and fifty percent of all transit on motorcycles…. time progresses, generations grow and live, and all known and familiar transportation is based on these two complementary methods; equally distributed, cars and motorcycles...  https://theconservativetreehouse.com/2020/03/23/big-picture-president-trump-signs-executive-order-targeting-hoarding-price-gouging-and-supply-chain/
scumbag-Soros Bankrolls Coronavirus
Attack Ads Against Trump
By Joe Schoffstall
{ freebeacon.com } ~ The Democratic Party's leading super PAC will begin hitting President Donald Trump over coronavirus in four battleground states, using millions from liberal billionaire scumbag-George Soros... Priorities USA Action—the Democratic Party's largest super PAC—will spend $6 million this week on advertisements criticizing Trump for his response to the coronavirus pandemic. The ads will run in Florida, Michigan, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin. The PAC received $3 million in contributions from scumbag-Soros's Democracy PAC on Feb. 21, new filings  show. scumbag-Soros's seven-figure donation accounts for 77 percent of the $3.9 million the PAC reported hauling in last month. Major Democratic donors have flooded battleground states, especially in the Midwest, with cash for anti-Trump campaigns in hopes of appealing to the president's voter base. CNN first reported Monday on Priorities USA's new ads, which are part of a larger plan by deep-pocketed liberal financiers and activist groups to divert large sums of cash into the region. Trump defeated scumbag/liar-Hillary Clinton in several Midwestern states that she was expected to carry in the 2016 election. As part of this plan, Priorities USA has said it intends to spend upward of $150 million against Trump in states like Michigan and Wisconsin. The PAC has hauled in $27 million since January 2019. Its largest donor has been billionaire hedge fund manager Donald Sussman, who has given the group $8 million this cycle. scumbag-Soros is now the group's second-largest donor at $5 million. The group did not respond to a request for comment. Priorities is not the only group using the coronavirus pandemic to attack Trump. PACRONYM, a super PAC tied to the nonprofit ACRONYM, which was in charge of the botched Iowa app that caused chaos during the Iowa caucuses, is launching a similar campaign.  PACRONYM announced last Tuesday it will spend $5 million on digital advertising against Trump's response to the pandemic. Tara McGowan, the founder of ACRONYM, said it's imperative that Democratic groups push anti-Trump messaging while Democratic presidential contenders remain positive during the pandemic. loose lips liar-Biden, however, slammed  Trump on Monday over what he called a "failure of planning and preparation" for the coronavirus. "This is a public health issue and a national security issue, but it's also a public policy issue and thus a political one," McGowan told the Washington Post...   https://freebeacon.com/2020-election/soros-bankrolls-coronavirus-attack-ads-against-trump/?utm_source=actengage&utm_campaign=FreedomMail&utm_medium=email

Silver linings accompany most catastrophic events, and one major one with the coronavirus is the remarkable way Americans (and people throughout the world) have come together to fight this outbreak.

Though the stock market has reflected a nation in panic, in other respects Americans, for the most part, have reacted responsibly, unselfishly and cooperatively, and I pray we are making substantial progress toward flattening the growth curve of this virus.

President Donald Trump and his extraordinary team of generals leading this war effort are implementing a multipronged approach to combat the spread of the disease, treat those infected with it, provide financial relief to those affected by it, calm the nation and stabilize our economy, which has been blindsided by this catastrophe.

I marvel at the professionalism of President Trump and Vice President Mike Pence, and those aligned with them on the dais for the daily White House press briefings, all of whom are earnest, transparent, informative and responsive. They are optimistic and encouraging without providing false hope, diligently studying this problem around the clock, employing the best minds and seeking to eliminate unnecessary bureaucratic red tape to expedite solutions.

There is not a hint of partisanship in the air, only a unified commitment to defeating this enemy and restoring America to robust physical and economic health. None of us knows what the ultimate outcome will be, but I trust that the virus’ devastation will be strikingly less severe for Americans because of this assembled team of dedicated patriots.

By contrast, there is sadly plenty of partisanship and Trump hatred from the press. From the outset, many of them focused on little else but smearing Trump and his approach to eradicating the virus.

As I watched the briefings earlier in the week, I was taken aback by some of their “gotcha” questions, which were designed to impugn and embarrass Trump, rather than facilitate the flow of information to the public. Couldn’t these people suspend their bile for a minimal grace period given the nature and severity of the crisis?

I was struck by the rudeness of some of these vultures who should at least pretend to be on Team America instead of Team Anti-Trump. While some were asking helpful questions and eliciting important information from the panel, others accused Trump of racism for identifying China as the virus’ country of origin, and of inciting violence against people of Chinese descent in the United States.

One reporter asked Trump if we might be headed toward a virus-induced recession, and he acknowledged it is possible. Media outlets immediately blasted the headline “Trump Says We May Be Headed for a Recession,” which was sensational, inflammatory and intentionally misleading because they implied that Trump brought it up and that it was virtually inevitable.

One particularly despicable attack involved a misleading New York Times report that contained an incomplete quote from President Trump during a conference call with state governors. The report implied that Trump had callously denied the governors’ request for respirators, ventilators and other needed equipment and told them, “try getting it yourselves.” In fact, Trump had followed that statement with an assurance: “We will be backing you, but try getting it yourselves. Point of sales, much better, much more direct if you can get it yourself.” Even after it became clear this was “fake news,” one obnoxious reporter at the press briefing brought it up again, using the incomplete quote.

MSNBC anchor Katy Tur was aghast that the president’s team stood too closely together on the dais, and that Trump and others shook hands and touched the microphone, setting a bad example for social distancing.

Others couldn’t stand that the president’s team complimented him. Charles Pierce wrote in Esquire that the “sad part” of the briefings is “watching all of these accomplished, brilliant people, the people who have dedicated their lives to solving epidemic diseases at the highest level, standing there behind a vulgar talking yam, praising him for his brilliant work thus far.”

I find it ironic that the people most critical of President Trump for being “vulgar,” “rude” and self-absorbed display those characteristics themselves as they wallow in their paralyzing hatred, unable to do their jobs because of their toxic obsession over President Trump.

While some of these media critics are hellbent on disgracing Trump for neglecting the people’s interests, they are disgracing themselves as they wail on Trump and themselves neglect the people’s interests. Sadly, they are too bitter to see their hypocrisy. Happily, the American public is not.   ~The Patriot Post
