spectator.org } ~ There was a time — and not so long ago — when America’s leaders would say that we were “addicted to oil,” and warn us that we could not “drill our way out of this.”... This turned out to be a) simpleminded, b) patronizing, and c) wrong. Pretty much par for the course, then. So of course the solutions for meeting the crisis, as prescribed by our political class, were either ineffectual or just wrong as both science and economics. The politics, though, were another thing. One proposed remedy that we were promised would help us avoid an energy crisis severe enough to crush the economy was… burn corn, not oil. American farmers have no trouble growing things. Never have. They are famously hardworking, resourceful, and innovative. We don’t have food scarcity in America. We have surpluses. American agriculture inspired an industry of farm equipment and machinery that is supreme in the world. John Deere. New Holland. Massey Ferguson. So it seemed simple enough to replace the oil we couldn’t extract from the ground with a bi-product of the things we could make grow out of it. That would be ethanol. And Americans surely did know how to make that. They had been doing it right from the nation’s beginning, turning American corn into American bourbon. Mostly legal. Sometimes not. In which case it was called moonshine, the scientific and boring name for which is “ethanol.” It also works with the internal combustion engine. The car you drive burns the stuff. So do your lawnmower, chainsaw, and outboard. With less satisfactory results. Ethanol is not generally kind to two stroke engines. A small engine mechanic I know says the stuff doesn’t just keep him in business. It pays for his vacations. Still, during the “peak oil” panic, the government began mandating viz: forcing refiners of petroleum to add a certain percentage of ethanol to the gasoline they produced. Gasoline cut with ethanol would go further and ease the inevitable transition to electric vehicles and the more immediate, and dire effects of the looming scarcity and the global warming crisis. Authorities like scumbag-Al Gore promised that producing enough ethanol and blending it with gasoline in the right proportions might help us avoid prices of four dollars a gallon, and more, at the pump. If it caused problems with small engines… well, small price...  https://spectator.org/corn-at-the-pump/?utm_source=American%20Spectator%20Emails&utm_campaign=6689b3ac40-EMAIL_CAMPAIGN_2019_06_24_12_48&utm_medium=email&utm_term=0_797a38d487-6689b3ac40-104608113

Is The Media Using Data About Americans
Migrating Into Mexico Misleadingly?

dailycaller.com } ~ News outlets are reporting that more Americans are migrating to Mexico than vice versa based on government data... but the data they are citing is being used misleadingly, one expert said. There are over 1.5 million U.S.-born citizens in Mexico, according to estimates from the U.S. Embassy in Mexico. This includes about 600,000 U.S.-born children of Mexican parents, the San Diego Union-Tribune reported. The U.S. Embassy in Mexico said the real numbers may be higher because many Americans overstay their visas. “The U.S. Department of State estimates 1.5 million Americans reside in Mexico,” a Department of State official told the Daily Caller News Foundation. “Because U.S. citizens are not required to register their travel to a foreign country with us, it is difficult to track how many U.S. citizens have gone to a specific country.” Outlets such as the Tribune and The Washington Post have reported on an increase of Americans crossing the border into Mexico, saying the data show more migrants from the U.S. are probably going to Mexico than Mexicans going to America. The number of Americans residing in Mexico has increased more than four times since 1990, according to data from Mexico’s statistics institute, WaPo reported. “The finding is used very misleadingly, usually to suggest that immigration from Mexico is dying out, so we don’t need any more money for border enforcement and we shouldn’t reduce legal immigration limits,” Jessica Vaughan, director of policy studies at the Center for Immigration Studies, said to the DCNF. “Not true, we still get many illegal and legal immigrants from Mexico.”...  https://dailycaller.com/2019/06/23/americans-mexico-illegal/?utm_medium=email

Palestinians and the Bahrain Conference: Condemning Arabs While Asking for Arab Money

gatestoneinstitute.org } ~ In 2009, the late Saudi King Abdullah bin Abdel Aziz  announced his country's decision to donate $1 billion to contribute to the reconstruction of the Gaza Strip... The monarch made his announcement during an Arab economic conference in Kuwait. The Saudi pledge never materialized, mainly because of the continued dispute between the Hamas rulers of the Gaza Strip and Mahmoud Abbas's Palestinian Authority (PA) in the West Bank. The king undoubtedly had good intentions and sought to help his Palestinian brothers, especially the two million residents of the Gaza Strip who remain in dire need of financial and economic assistance. When King Abdullah bin Abdel Aziz died six years later, the Palestinians did not hesitate to show their contempt for the Arab leader who had offered to help improve their living conditions and ensure a better future for Palestinian children. The contempt was so intense that Palestinian worshippers at Al-Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem booed down a preacher, Ismail Nawahdeh, who mourned the death of the Saudi king. As Nawahdeh read the statement, hundreds of Palestinians began shouting slogans denouncing the late monarch. A decade has passed since King Abdullah bin Abdel Aziz offered the $1 billion donation to the Gaza Strip, but it seems that nothing has changed in the world of the Palestinians. The Palestinians are now incensed with Saudi Arabia and some other Arab states for agreeing to attend a US-led conference in Bahrain. The main purpose of the conference, held under the banner "Peace to Prosperity," is to help the Palestinians build a prosperous and vibrant society. "With the potential to facilitate more than $50 billion in new investment over 10 years, the plan presents the most ambitious and comprehensive international effort for the Palestinian people to date," according to the plan, which was released on June 22 and will be presented to participants of the Bahrain economic conference. As expected, the Palestinians, who are boycotting the Bahrain conference, have rejected the plan, dubbing it a "bribe" to entice the Palestinians to relinquish their "national rights." While the Palestinian rejection of the plan did not come as a surprise, their strong condemnations of the Arab states that have agreed to attend the Bahrain conference are an indication of the disdain in which the Palestinians hold Arab leaders and governments...  https://www.gatestoneinstitute.org/14431/palestinians-money-bahrain-conference

Why the Dems Will Never Win Back Trump Voters

spectator.org } ~ It’s an article of faith among Democrats that the President’s base consists primarily of white working class voters without college degrees... and that they must be won back in order to beat Trump in 2020. This is why Elizabeth dinky-Warren inflicted that cringe-making, “I’m gonna get me a beer,” video on a long-suffering electorate. It is why loose lips liar-Joe Biden, who reputedly enjoys a special rapport with blue collar voters, is the frontrunner for his party’s presidential nomination despite his penchant for gaffes and plagiarism. Thus, during this week’s Democratic debates, the candidates will devote considerable effort to courting the “deplorables.” This will, however, be an exercise in futility because everything they believe about Trump’s base is false. Their view of this large and growing segment of the electorate is distorted by a myth concocted primarily by the media to explain away a deeply uncomfortable reality — that Trump possessed a better understanding of the public mood than did the professional political class. They were unable to abandon their preconceived notions about Trump and his supporters, despite easily accessible contrary data. The belief that his message was resonating only among the working class was debunked by Nate Silver as early as May of 2016: It’s been extremely common for news accounts to portray Donald Trump’s candidacy as a “working-class” rebellion against Republican elites.… But the definition of “working class” and similar terms is fuzzy, and narratives like these risk obscuring an important and perhaps counter intuitive fact about Trump’s voters: As compared with most Americans, Trump’s voters are better off. The median household income of a Trump voter so far in the primaries is about $72,000. That figure wasn’t merely above the national median household income, it was higher than the median income for scumbag/liar-Hillary Clinton’s supporters. Silver went on to point out that the general portrayal of Trump’s voters as uneducated also failed to conform to the facts: “About 44 percent of Trump supporters have college degrees… higher than the 33 percent of non-Hispanic white adults, or the 29 percent of American adults overall, who have at least a bachelor’s degree.” Blue collar workers were a real and valuable cohort of the President’s supporters, but the financial and educational make up of his base was more complex than most acknowledged. Yet, even a guy as smart as National Review’s Kevin Williamson succumbed to the Never Trump delusion that Trump’s supporters were a bunch of white trash losers. In an essay published in the spring of 2016, he snarled, “Donald Trump’s speeches make them feel good. So does OxyContin.” Even after Trump won the Republican nomination, the legacy media, the Never Trumpers, and the scumbag/liar-Clinton campaign clung desperately to their belief that his supporters were a contemptible collection of irredeemable, uneducated homophobes, xenophobes, and racists. They were, as scumbag/liar-Clinton famously phrased it, “a basket of deplorables.”...

Suspected Hezbollah Financier
Extradited to the U.S.
by Emanuele Ottolenghi
fdd.org } ~ Paraguayan authorities extradited Nader Mohamad Farhat yesterday to Miami, where he faces criminal charges of money laundering... Farhat’s case promises to reveal the intricacies and magnitude of trade-based money laundering in the Tri-Border Area (TBA) of Argentina, Brazil, and Paraguay, including the role played by Lebanese Hezbollah. A Miami federal court will decide whether Farhat will be tried there or in New York, where he faces similar charges. In the case before the New York court, Farhat is an alleged co-conspirator in a case involving another Paraguayan national of Lebanese origin, Mahmoud Ali Barakat, and three other defendants who are accused of assisting in the laundering of drug monies from inside the U.S. Court documents refer to Farhat as a “known money launderer for narcotics organizations and other illicit organizations,” while media reports allege a possible connection to Hezbollah. According to a Department of Justice press release announcing the indictment of his co-conspirators, Farhat participated in “an international money laundering scheme relying on the complexities of global trade, and the use of … businesses here in New York and in Florida, to launder millions of dollars for transnational drug traffickers and other bad actors.” The cases have since been merged. These cases highlight how Latin American drug cartels and other organized crime groups continue to exploit complex, trade-based schemes to launder their ill-gotten gains. Critically, many of the companies involved are in the United States, exposing the U.S. financial system to considerable reputational risk. The case also reveals the growing importance of the TBA to this type of financial crime. Almost a decade ago, a large Drug Enforcement Administration investigation exposed the connection between Latin American drug cartels and Hezbollah financiers. The investigation focused on the Lebanese Canadian Bank and revealed Hezbollah’s use of extensive trade-based money laundering networks in Colombia and Venezuela, which laundered cartel drug money through West Africa and used car businesses in the United States before repatriating the funds to the cartels through Lebanese-based financial institutions...

David Limbaugh

townhall.com } ~ Congresswoman commie-Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez may seem harmless, but she's a virtue signaler on steroids and a nonstop headline-manufacturing machine.

The left adores her, and for conservatives, she's a gift that keeps on giving — because she is either too naive or arrogant to rein herself in. Don't listen to those who advise not to be roped into her spotlight-seeking trap. Give her all the attention she craves — and more rope.

commie-AOC conspicuously put her foot in her mouth again, but she clearly likes the taste of it because she refuses to remove it. "This administration has established concentration camps on the southern border of the United States for immigrants, where they are being brutalized with dehumanizing conditions and dying," she tweeted. "This is not hyperbole. It is the conclusion of expert analysis." What?

On Instagram, she said: "The United States is running concentration camps on the southern border. And that is exactly what they are. They are concentration camps. And if that doesn't bother you, I don't — I like — we can have — OK, whatever. I wanna talk to people that are concerned enough with humanity to say that ... 'Never Again' means something. And that the fact that concentration camps are now an institutionalized practice in the home of the free is extraordinarily disturbing. And we need to do something about it. ... This is not even about a crisis for — this is not just about the immigrant communities being held in concentration camps being a crisis. This is a crisis for ourselves. This is a crisis on if America will remain America ... or if we are losing to an authoritarian and fascist presidency."

commie-AOC immediately came under fire. On Twitter, Rep. Liz Cheney told her that she demeaned the memory of the 6 million Jews who were exterminated in the Holocaust and disgraces herself with her remarks.

commie-AOC took umbrage, tweeting: "And for the shrieking Republicans who don't know the difference: concentration camps are not the same as death camps. Concentration camps are considered by experts as 'the mass detention of civilians without trial.' And that's exactly what this administration is doing." commie-AOC's shameless denial that she was referring to Nazi concentration camps was disingenuous in view of her Instagram reference to "Never Again," which is singularly associated with the Holocaust.

Rep. Dan Crenshaw tweeted back to her: "in concentration camps, people are unjustly sought out and confined. This isn't what is happening at the border. Migrants are illegally crossing our border. Most are asylum seekers, thus pending trial, so your expert definition doesn't apply. ... Your comments reveal total disregard for our sovereignty & a deep ignorance that belittles the horrors of the Holocaust."

Acting Immigration and Customs Enforcement Director Mark Morgan called commie-AOC's comments "completely inappropriate," "reckless," "irresponsible," "misinformed" and "flat-out wrong." He said, "there is so much oversight in these facilities. ... I feel very satisfied that if you go to these facilities, whether it's a Border Patrol facility, an HHS facility or an ICE facility, that there will be safe and adequate conditions to detain individuals."

If you think commie-AOC is merely some innocent ignoramus in a powerful position, think again. She intentionally and maliciously misrepresents the facts. She knows these immigrants are not being brutalized and dying, and that the authorities are doing the best they can, being understaffed and underfunded — because demagogues like her refuse to acknowledge the crisis and address it. As Rep. Crenshaw told her, "If you're worried about conditions at the border, why don't you do something about it & support @RepMikeRogersAL's bill securing billions in humanitarian aid?"

House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy called on commie-AOC to apologize "not only to the nation but to the world," but instead she doubled down. "DHS ripped 1000s of children from their parents & put them in cages w inhumane conditions," she tweeted. "I will never apologize for calling these camps what they are. If that makes you uncomfortable, fight the camps -- not the nomenclature."

commie-AOC's colleague, the reliably obnoxious House Judiciary Chairman, scumbag liar-Jerrold Nadler, undercut her lame denial that she invoked the Holocaust. "One of the lessons from the Holocaust is 'Never Again' — not only to mass murder, but also to the dehumanization of people, violations of basic rights, and assaults on our common morality."

It's no secret that today's leftist extremists are no friend of the Jews, but where are the famous liberal fact-checkers — the watchdogs so dedicated to truth? Let them explain to commie-AOC that migrants detained for breaking the law are not being placed in concentration camps. If she persists, she also condemns former President scumbag/liar-nObama for the same sin.

But here's the good news. commie-AOC is unteachable, because she is unwilling to be taught. Full of hubris, she already knows everything and is the champion of every leftist cause. She leads with her unbridled emotions, happily ignorant of the facts. House Majority Leader liar- Nancy Pulosi would love to corral her but would not dare even hint at that, shrewdly recognizing the mob attraction commie-AOC enjoys with the Party's shrieking base. liar-Pulosi knows better than to chastise commie-AOC and so ducked the question when asked why commie-AOC never shuts up.

Well, I'm with liar-Pulosi, for different reasons. Please don't shut up, commie-AOC. We appreciate your drawing a sharp contrast every day between the noxious views of your party, which now dutifully embodies your extremism, and those representing responsible governance. Thank you for liberally exercising your First Amendment freedoms.
