Federal prosecutor Nora Dannehy, a top aide to U.S. Attorney John H. Durham in his Russia investigation, has quietly resigned - at least partly out of concern that the investigative team is being pressed for political reasons to produce a report before its work is done, colleagues said.
Dannehy, a highly regarded prosecutor who has worked with or for Durham for decades, informed colleagues in the U.S. Attorney’s office in New Haven of her resignation from the Department of Justice by email Thursday evening. The short email was a brief farewell message and said nothing about political pressure, her work for Durham or what the Durham team has produced, according to people who received it.
Durham, who has never even acknowledged that Dannehy was in Washington working for him, had no immediate comment on the resignation.
Durham recruited Dannehy to join his team after he was appointed by Attorney General William Barr more than a year and a half ago to examine the the FBI’s legal justification for a disputed counterintelligence investigation that looked for ties between President Donald J. Trump’s 2016 campaign and Russian efforts to meddle in the election.
Dannehy is a career prosecutor who worked closely with Durham before leaving the U.S. Attorney’s office about a decade ago for a corporate position in the defense industry. Durham persuaded her to return to the justice department and, within weeks, join his team in Washington in the spring of 2019.
Colleagues said Dannehy is not a supporter of President Donald J. Trump and has been concerned in recent weeks by what she believed was pressure from Barr - who appointed Durham - to produce results before the election. They said she has been considering resignation for weeks, conflicted by loyalty to Durham and concern about politics.

As I stated from the beginning, the Durham investigation will go nowhere... US Attorney Durham is a never Trumper. Mrs. Dannehy is just the tip of the anti-Trump iceberg. She is just one of the many liberals openly operating in our Government to evade prosecution of the criminal cabal behind the insurrection and insurgency taking place in America as we speak. She was recruited from the professional staff in the DOJ, and like most, she is politically motivated. AG Barr recommended US Attorney Durham and appointed him to head up the investigation into Crossfire and the swamp. Pres. Trump is being betrayed again by his AG, and the deep state operatives in government. The pragmatist and globalist see Pres. Trump's Make America Great Again policies as an attack on their SPECIAL INTERESTS.
Attorney General William P. Barr assigned Mr. Durham, the U.S. attorney for Connecticut, the mission of finding out the origins of the FBI’s counterintelligence investigation known as Crossfire... In over a year US Attorney Durham has failed to indicted or try a single case, in spite of numerous promises of such indictments and trials. AG Barr has recently stated publically he will not indict anyone until after the election... Why? The FIX IS IN... AG Barr is not Pres. Trump's friend or a friend of justice and the American People. Justice delayed is justice denied, and AG Barr certainly has done nothing but equivocate on bringing the Deep State to Justice. AG Barr must go.
Mr. President fire AG Barr and most of the upper echelons of the DOJ and FBI.... suspend or remove all those associated with or complicit with the Democrat's attempts to remove the President from office or who have worked to 'fundamentally transform' America. There is no mandate from the people, nor are their constitutional grounds for such activities. Declare Martial Law and round up all those individuals who have violated the law. Hold them in GITMO, under lock and key, while preparing to try them for insurrection, sedition, and various other crimes... Such trials, should to be at the leisure of the People... using Military Tribunals ... under Martial Law. Suspend habeas corpus for those engaged in domestic terrorism, insurrection, sedition, treason, and overt insurgency. Be prepared to arrest and hold the heads of the MSM, and the key criminals in the Congress, who supported the criminal cabal operating within our government.
