Now is this byers remorse or are they really afraid he will push the Nuke button thinking it is his nurse call button for his nurse to feed him another cup of apple sause? The Demoncrats have screwed us all including themselves? Just so Obummer can have a 3rd tearm in office! Who is pulling the strings on this sick old man Biden? George Sorous,  OBummer, Cumalla Harris?

  • What's behind this very bad policy... is the elimination of our nuclear deterrent to an enemy FIRST STRIKE nuclear option... Requiring more than one person to be in the decision process introduces the problem of securing consent in time to react to a first-strike nuclear attack.

A policy requiring two or more individuals to authorize the release defeats any counter-strike tactic... rendering it moot as a DETERRENT to a first-strike. Our nuclear missiles, communications, and command structure may well be taken out before a decision to launch can be made, issued, and authenticated.  Introducing more than one person into this process greatly complicates the notification and authentication processes.  Such a policy also creates the risk that one of the parties may REFUSE to act bringing into question using a counter-strike as a deterrent to Nuclear War.

Such a program for authorizing a nuclear release would render the 'mutual destruction scenario unworkable... The only reason for doing that would be to encourage our enemies to consider a first-strike nuclear attack on the USA.  Individuals recommending this policy are very dangerous and need to be removed from our government.

    • Doesn't the Secretary of Defense also have his codes that he has to enter besides the president to order a launch of our nukes?

    • Yes, there are several checks on the nuclear release protocol...  The decision is the Presidents, as long as the circumstances meet the regulatory and lawful requirements.  Any unlawful orders would likely be halted during the notification and authentication process.  The Democrat's concerns are based on false information and a lack of technical knowledge on how the Nuclear surety and release program works.

The President can't wake up one morning and simply say this would be a good day to start a nuclear holocaust... it doesn't work that way.  There is no need to create a committee to approve nuclear release... there already y exist sufficient safeguards against an unauthorized or rogue release.

    • I agree. I have experience in both operating ICBMs and in developing them. POTUS does not make the decision to execute a nuclear strike in a vacuum. However, he, as the Commander-in-Chief, has the sole legal responsibility and authority to authorize the use of nuclear weapons. That is, the buck stops on the Resolute Desk in the Oval Office. It does not stop at, nor approach, either the judiciary or legislative branches.

  • I agree

  • Ah admittance for the first time that this president should NOT be in charge of anything mother than changing his underwear.

  • There has to be some safeguards built into the system - I agree with William that I don't trust either the VP or Speaker of the House with that kind of power.
