We are and always have been a constitutional REPUBLIC since July 4th, 1776. If you doubt this truth, your first clue should be our Pledge of Allegiance. We pledge allegiance to a Republic, NOT a democracy.
Unfortunately the Pledge of Allegiance the Boomer generation recited every day before class in grade school has been removed from the daily regimen in our classrooms across our nation, and it is one of the fundamental missteps that has resulted in the "dumbing down" of the millennial generation.
