It’s become very obvious in the last couple of weeks that Twitter had planned to censor the president based on the information that he was sharing that they disagreed with. However, many individuals saw Facebook as being a good alternative when the social media platform said that it was going to stand up for free speech with regards to politicians who are running for office.
However, they abandon that practice on Wednesday when they removed a post from President Trump. They were moved to post a video clip from him appearing on Fox News when he was interviewed and when she said that children are “almost immune.”
This is the first time in history that Facebook has ever taken anything down from the president for violating its policies and Community standards. A spokeswoman for the company said that the reason the post was removed is because it violates the company’s policy surrounding misinformation on the covid-19 pandemic.
“This video includes false claims that a group of people is immune from COVID-19 which is a violation of our policies around harmful COVID misinformation,” said Facebook spokesperson Andy Stone.
