Marc Elias, the election lawyer who represented Democratic challenges to state rules throughout the 2020 election, alleged in a court filing this week that a close congressional race in upstate New York was marred by faulty voting machines.

Republicans have been vilified for making similar claims about the 2020 presidential race.

In the congressional race for New York’s 22nd district, Republican Claudia Tenney currently leads incumbent Democrat Anthony Brindisi by a razor-thin margin of 125 votes. Tenney declared victory on Tuesday, though challenges continue.

In a legal filing Monday requesting a manual audit of the election, Elias, whose Perkins Coie law firm is representing Brindisi, argued that there were “substantial errors and irregularities in the conduct of the election.”

  • I would urge that the Tea Party support that Democratic lawyer's lawsuit, since if the lawsuit were successful, the fight to prove that the 2020 election was stolen from Trump would get a boost!

  • Time to vote in person and have all ballots counted by humans and not a machine. We can wait for the outcome.

    • But what happens the next time there is a pandemic during an election?

    • We DID wait for the outcome this time!  At first, Trump seemed to be ahead in the swing states, and tried to claim victory!  Then the swing states turned...I wonder how long it would take to hand count every vote in the US?

    • I agree

    • You got tht right - two other thing NO EARLY VOTING and absentee voting only for Military personnel..

    • Martha-hope you will rethink the absentee voting provision; I am 83 years old, no longer drive, unable to walk distances and transportation is not always dependable, so I rely on the absentee ballot to able to vote at all.  I do believe I have earned the right to vote absentee.

    • I understand your feelings June and can agree.  I am not far behind you age wise.  Maybe absentee ballots should be severaly limited, they need to be requested and the the people voting absentee have to be able to prove who they are.

  • Hmmm, I thought they had just finished a HAND RECOUNT of NY dist. 22; if that is the case, then what do "faulty voting machines" have to do with that outcome? Or did I miss something here?

    • You didn't miss anything.  This is just another Democrat melt down - an attempt to invalidate a result they don't like.  It has absolutely nothing with faulty voting machines.  What they don't like is that the hand count descovered the faulty ballots changed by the voting machines.
