When Democrats Violate Social Standards
On Wednesday, we wrote about Donald Trump's impassioned speech highlighting the growing problem of poverty and violence rampant in many inner city black communities today. We noted what we often do for context: The problems in the inner city today go all the way back to Lyndon B. Johnson and his "Great Society" programs. At the time of their passage, Democrats hailed these programs as a step toward raising blacks out of poverty. But their motives were not so altruistic.
That's when things ran afoul of the politically correct police. We quoted an authenticated LBJ remark, in which he said of the Civil Rights Act, "I'll have those [racial slur redacted] voting Democratic for the next 200 years."
Our original post with the image below included the quote, and listed other instances of LBJ's racial slurs. (You can find that post, titled "The Not So Great Society," here.) But the progressive censors at Facebook threw the post down the memory hole, insisting that an authentic and historically significant quote from a U.S. president "doesn't follow the Facebook Community Standards." We most certainly agree that the slur Johnson used is vulgar and unacceptable. The point was to shed light on his crude, cynical and prophetic prediction about the long-term allegiance of black voters, and that today's Democrats still believe it, even if their language is different. ~The Patriot Post

Does nObama Care About Black People?
Louisiana is under water. Thirteen people are dead because of flooding, and tens of thousands have been displaced. Offering a bit of perspective on this disaster, The American Conservative's Rod Dreher writes:
liar-Hillary devoted three times that number of tweets to congratulating US women athletes at the Rio games. Hey, I have no problem with celebrating their victories. But let's see: over 100,000 people have lost their homes in Louisiana. More than half of them are women, it stands to reason. This is not a secret. If you want to win the attention of the Democratic nominee for president, it's much better to be a woman athlete than a Louisiana woman made homeless by the flooding, it would appear. ...
To his credit, the president has released disaster aid to Louisiana, and has sent the FEMA chief down. But he is not interrupting his vacation on fancy Martha's Vineyard to come give comfort and show compassion to his own countrymen who are in extreme pain.
Despite George W. Bush's folly on Katrina, which left a permanent mark on his legacy, nObama remains on vacation, just as Bush did.
After Hurricane Katrina in 2005, rapper Kanye West once famously declared, "George Bush doesn't care about black people." Is the same true of nObama, who ripped Bush for "unconscionable ineptitude" in 2005?
Clearly, this president would rather be golfing. Recall that in 2014 he was caught yukking it up on the links just minutes after denouncing the Islamic State beheading of journalist James Foley, and again a year later when video was released of the Islamic State beheading 21 Egyptian Christians. ~The Patriot Post

Uncovering a $1 Billion Deal to Detain Unauthorized Immigrants

{propublica.org} ~ Last week, the U.S. Department of Justice announced that it would phase out its use of private prisons. While significant, the move will not put an end to the booming immigrant detention industry... Private prison companies will continue to receive millions in government contracts to detain unauthorized immigrants. Even though private prison companies play a central role in the government’s immigration strategy, the financial dealings between the two are often opaque. In his piece for the Washington Post, reporter Chico Harlan sheds light on one of these secretive arrangements, detailing a $1 billion deal between the nObama Administration and Corrections Corporation of America, also known as CCA, the largest private prison company in the country. Iranian media and the Houthis (officially known as Ansar Allah), however, insist that this variant has been produced “indigenously” in Yemen... While prominent government officials in Tehran regularly tout their political support for Ansar Allah, they often reject the charge of military assistance to their campaign. Moreover, despite ambiguity over the degree to which Tehran can control Ansar Allah, the Islamic Republic’s military aid to the group is readily apparent, and has been noted by senior American officials. Oil Now in a Bull Market?

{thenewamerican.com} ~ Energy traders looking for any sort of news that would push crude oil prices higher have found two slender reeds: a falling dollar making American oil more expensive overseas... and a surprise report from the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA) showing shrinkage in the vast oversupply of crude and gasoline that has weighed on the market. Accordingly, the price of Brent crude (priced in London) and West Texas Intermediate (priced in Oklahoma) jumped by more than 20 percent over the last week, putting it into “bull market” territory. It has led observers to conclude that the rise is real and will soon allow major oil producers such as British Petroleum (BP), Exxon Mobil, and Chevron to turn cash flow positive. It even led BP’s CEO Bob Dudley, long bearish on oil’s price prospects, to declare earlier this week that he is “less pessimistic” than he has been. Prices were goosed further as traders contemplated the possibility that OPEC might join with Russia (a non-OPEC member) and come to terms over an agreement to freeze production at an informal “side” meeting to take place in Algeria in late September. Garcia said, “Networks that specialize in smuggling individuals from regions of terrorist concern, mainly from the Afghanistan-Pakistan region, the Middle East, and East Africa, are indeed a concern for SOUTHCOM and other interagency security partners who support our country’s national security. liar-Hillary’s Tangled Web Grows by the Day

{aim.org} ~ liar-Hillary Clinton is still considered by many people to be a fundamentally dishonest candidate. A recent NBC poll shows that only 11 percent of surveyed voters believe she is “honest and trustworthy.”... However, contrary to the mainstream media’s attempt to save her reputation, and her campaign’s complaints about a double standard, Mrs. liar-Clinton has done most of the damage to her reputation herself through her penchant for lying. This week adds more liar-Clinton lies to the many that have already been exposed. As Accuracy in Media chairman Don Irvine notes, former Secretary of State Colin Powell has taken exception to the liar-Clinton campaign’s decision to “pin” responsibility for Mrs. liar-Clinton’s private email server on him. According to The New York Times, the notes turned over to Congress last week by the FBI about their interview with Mrs. liar-Clinton early last month, said that Mrs. liar-Clinton apparently told the FBI, as she has stated publicly, that Powell had suggested that she use a personal email account. Powell said, “The truth is, she was using the private email server for a year before I sent her a memo telling her what I did,” reports the Washington Examiner. {townhall.com} ~ Apparently, the Democratic Party’s latest strategy to win the White House in 2016 is “Let’s pretend to be religious.”
Now it’s all about liar-Hillary’s faith, according to Democratic Party Vice Presidential hopeful Tim Kaine, who told a group in New Orleans that liar-Hillary Clinton’s faith is at the “root of everything she does.” That’s quite a statement, considering all the years she’s been in the public’s eye.
Most likely, though, Kaine was referring to liar-Hillary’s attachment to the “Social Gospel.” The Social Gospel is a cheap counterfeit for the real thing that liberals conjured up to promote socialism and at the same time relieve people from any guilt associated with living life according to their own standards, not God’s. The Social Gospel crowd concentrates on scriptures that instruct us to help the poor and feed the hungry. They ignore the ones where Jesus told those he helped and fed to “go and sin no more.”
But, here’s the rub. If liberals really wanted to do things the right way, they’d do it themselves and not pass personal responsibility off to the government. Jesus never said governments are an acceptable replacement for lazy, no-good followers who refuse to do what he asks.
Obviously, Kaine was trying to paint liar-Hillary in a softer, nicer light while at the same time courting right-leaning anti-Trump evangelicals. It’s a political ploy. In May, Slate magazine ran a piece by Ruth Graham, “Can the Christian Left Be a Real Political Force?” -- suggesting that Donald Trump’s rise in the GOP makes 2016 the perfect opportunity for the Democrat Party to win over anti-Trump evangelicals if they can find a way to lop their horns and replace them with halos to make them look like the “party of God.”
What the author, Tim Kaine and Democrat Party strategists fail to understand is that anti-Trump conservative Christians would never vote for liar-Hillary. Nor will they be tricked by those bearing faux religion in the name of politics. Graham did her best to make a case for liberal Christianity, writing: “It must first be said that despite the empty pews, there’s reason to believe that liberal Christianity has been dormant, not dead.”
In reality, those empty pews are what happens when we do things our way and cherry-pick the Gospel. A Pew poll rolled out last year backs that statement finding that mainline church denominations embracing the Social Gospel like liar-Hillary Clinton’s Methodist denomination are in decline across the United States. In sharp contrast, the same Pew poll found that conservative Christian churches are vibrantly alive and growing.
The Slate magazine author accidentally answers why “liberal Christianity” is little more than an oxymoron when she wrote: “There’s a cost associated with membership…churches that ask more from their followers tend to be stronger…Many progressive churches, by contrast barely demand a pinky toe…They don’t pressure me when I skip; the sermons rarely suggest it matters whether I believe the creeds...By contrast, when I visit conservative churches…they feel alive: People are there because they think it matters for their everyday lives and for their eternal souls.”
Those churches “feel alive” because they are…alive. It’s impossible to be truly excited about something that isn’t there. And it’ll never be there if it’s about politics rather than a personal, saving faith. Graham concludes: “If there is to be a resurgent Christian left, it will need to learn a trick or two from the very movement conservative Christian that overtook it a generation ago.”
Tricks cannot revive that which never existed in the first place. As C.S. Lewis wrote: “Once you have made the World an end, and faith a means…it makes very little difference what kind of worldly end he is pursuing.” It’s a slippery slope, that road to Hell we’re headed, that American politics has deteriorated to this.
