{theresurgent.com} ~ Congressional negotiators announced a tentative agreement in the talks to fund the government to prevent another shutdown last night... The agreement reportedly reduces the amount of funding for President Trump’s pet wall project, which leaves open the possibility that the president will refuse to sign off on the agreement. Immigration hardliners have already begun to attack the deal. The agreement reportedly includes no money for a wall, but $1.375 billion for enhancements such as steel slats for existing barriers and funding for 55 miles of new barriers, per NBC News. The new fencing would be subject to geographical restrictions on its placement. Republicans would also get $1.7 billion for other border security projects such as new technology for ports of entry, additional customs officers, humanitarian aid, and funding for more than 40,000 new beds in immigrant detention facilities. Democrats reportedly gave up their demand for a cap on the number of beds that can be used for detaining illegal immigrants. Sean Hannity immediately attacked the agreement, calling it a “garbage compromise.” “By the way, on this new so-called compromise,” Hannity said. “I’m getting details. $1.3 billion? That’s not even a wall, a barrier… We will get back into this tomorrow. Any Republican that supports this garbage compromise, you will have to explain—look at this crowd, look at the country.” Rep. Jim Jordan (R-Ohio), a founding member of the House Freedom Caucus, tweeted that Congress had created “a bad deal on immigration.” Few other prominent Republicans have spoken out publicly on the deal so far...Senate will vote on AOC's 'Green New Deal'

{westernjournal.com} ~ New York residents struck back in a new poll, telling Democratic leaders how they feel after weeks of being pushed to the left... A Siena poll showed that both Democratic Gov. Andrew evil-Cuomo, who signed the Reproductive Health Act into law, and Senate Minority Leader scumbag-Chuck Schumer, who has followed House Speaker Nancy Pulosi’s anti-Trump lead, received their lowest ratings ever, WGRZ reported. “Now, for the first time ever, half of New Yorkers view Andrew evil-Cuomo unfavorably. It’s his lowest favorability rating ever and his lowest-ever job performance as governor,” said Siena College pollster Steven Greenberg, according to the Albany Times-Union. “And it is a dramatic drop in both ratings from last month.”Greenberg noted that no one party group was responsible for the drop. “Politically, evil-Cuomo’s ratings drop is across the board, as he fell with Democrats, Republicans and independents,” Greenberg said, according to the New York Post. The poll released Monday showed 43 percent of the state’s residents approve of evil-Cuomo’s performance, a drop of eight percentage points since December. A full 50 percent of New Yorkers now view the governor unfavorably. The poll asked a separate question about how evil-Cuomo is doing as governor. Only 35 percent of respondents said he was doing “excellent” or “good.”....

Identity Politicsby Political Editors: Stacey Abrams, the loser of Georgia’s gubernatorial election and the Democrat pick to give the rebuttal to President Donald Trump’s State of the Union Address last week, recently wrote an article for Foreign Affairs entitled “Identity Politics Strengthens Democracy.” Some may ask why a long-respected policy magazine such as Foreign Affairs would provide a platform for a political loser with little academic acumen in the field of foreign policy — she earned a Bachelor’s degree in Interdisciplinary Studies before a career as a pseudonymous romance novelist.
But to ask the question reveals that one has missed the argument entirely. It reveals one to be stuck in that “old liberal” ethic that believes respect is earned rather than demanded, and that sees victims as those to be pitied and protected, not praised and emulated.
The times, they have changed. With the rise of the Left’s “intersectionality” ethos, individuals don’t merit respect with accomplishments gained through hard work, discipline, and personal sacrifice; rather, respected status is determined via an entirely new paradigm based upon where one’s communal identity falls in the hierarchical scale of “victimization.” In other words, a person’s “real” value is not found in individual accomplishments but in identity classification.
You see, Abrams provides the perfect example of how the new “accomplishment” paradigm works. She’s a black woman, which ticks off two of the largest categories on the intersectionality checklist.
Arguing in favor of identity politics, Abrams, because of her leftist equity ethos, must construct a false historical narrative replete with straw men and non-sequiturs to make the argument for the demonstrably false notion that identity politics is a good thing. She then concludes that, “By embracing identity … Americans will become more likely to grow as one.”
The truth is unity only comes when individuals who come from a myriad of different backgrounds, experiences, and challenges can all identify with a common universal set of core values and beliefs. What makes Americans be and become Americans is not our DNA, nor the color of our skin, nor our ethnic heritage, nor our gender, nor our “victim” status; it’s found in our having a shared status of equality under Rule of Law and individual Liberty and rights espoused and protected by the Constitution. That’s why Abrams’s argument is entirely flawed. She attacks the God-given core value that makes the uniquely American experiment even a possibility. ~The Patriot Post
