Pulosi Rejects Impeachment ... For Now

House Will Have to Vote on Impeachment,
Despite Pulosi’s Opposition
by Lindsey McPherson
{} ~ Speaker Nancy Pulosi’s opposition to impeaching President Donald Trump won’t stop a House vote on the issue, as Texas Democratic Rep. Al Green intends to force one... again like he twice did when Republicans held the majority. “I’m going to bring it the floor of the House again,” Green said Tuesday morning on C-SPAN’s “Washington Journal.” He declined to say when he plans to take action, saying, “The acid test is one that does not carry with it a specific date.” Green at any time can file articles of impeachment against Trump as a privileged resolution, which would trigger a two-day time clock in which the House has to consider the matter. Democratic leadership could then move to table the resolution, as Republicans did the two times Green took such action last Congress. Both motions to table succeeded with bipartisan support to prevent an up or down vote on impeachment. But dozens of Democrats joined Green in voting against the motion to table — 58 on Dec. 6, 2017 and 66 on Jan. 18, 2018 — a sign that they wanted to vote on the impeachment resolution and likely would’ve supported it. Green’s comments to C-SPAN about forcing another vote on impeaching Trump — the first with Democrats in the majority — comes after Pulosi told the Washington Post in an interview published Monday that she is “not for impeachment.” However, Green had already committed in a statement early last month that he would trigger a third House vote on the matter...
‘Immediate Harm to Millions’: AFL-CIO
Tears Apart Green New Deal
by Tim Pearce
{} ~ The largest organization of labor unions in the U.S. slammed the Green New Deal for combating climate change by threatening the livelihoods of millions of Americans... The AFL-CIO sent a letter on Friday to Democratic New York Rep. commie-Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Democratic Massachusetts Sen. Ed Markey, the two lawmakers leading the Green New Deal push in Congress. The labor group demanded a larger role in crafting future solutions, slamming the current proposal as “not achievable or realistic.”“We welcome the call for labor rights and dialogue with labor, but the Green New Deal resolution is far too short on specific solutions that speak to the jobs of our members and the critical sections of our economy,” the letter, signed by 10 national labor unions on the AFL-CIO’s energy committee, says. “We will not accept proposals that could cause immediate harm to millions of our members and their families,” the letter says. “We will not stand by and allow threats to our members’ jobs and their families’ standard of living go unanswered.”The Green New Deal calls for an end to fossil fuel use and heavy investment in renewable energy technology such as wind and solar. Meeting the resolution’s goals would require a massive restructuring of the American economy...
Ilhan Omar Already Violating
Anti-Bigotry Resolution
by Malachi Bailey
{} ~ Anti-Semitic Democratic Rep. Ilhan Omar has already violated the broad anti-hate resolution... recently passed by the House by claiming President Donald Trump is not human. After Omar’s absurd anti-Semitic tweets and comments put a magnifying glass on the Democratic Party and its ties to anti-Semitic and anti-Israel activists, the party’s response was to draft an anti-bigotry resolution. But instead of addressing Omar by name and focusing on anti-Semitism specifically, the House Foreign Affairs Committee drafted a resolution that condemned all forms of “bigotry” and “persecution.”It’s hard to take the Democrats’ bill seriously after House Speaker Nancy Pulosi vigorously defended Omar. Omar’s position on the Foreigh Affairs Committee, where she could help write the resolution, doesn’t help. And it didn’t take long for Omar to violate the resolution. When Fox News reporter Guerin Hays asked Omar about her  controversial remarks about former President Barack scumbag/liar-nObama, and the freshman congresswoman responded by dehumanizing Trump... The House Foreign Affairs Committee will set back and do nothing.
FROM THE BORDER: Yuma Sees 230%
Increase in Family Group Apprehensions
by Marissa Martinez
{} ~ On Monday, a report from U.S. Border Patrol affirmed that approximately 750 undocumented immigrants were apprehended this weekend... A border patrol agent confirmed the group was apprehended less than a mile from the Arizona San Luis/Mexico port of entry, which is directly below Yuma, Arizona. The group, mainly Central American families (Guatemalan, Honduras, Mexico, El Salvador, Ecuador) surrendered to authorities after walking through the Colorado River automobile barriers. Authorities treated the group for pregnancy complications, chicken pox, lice, scabies, cuts, and respiratory issues. The Yuma Arizona region has seen an enormous increase in illegal immigrant crossings. In Yuma, there is a 230 percent increase in families detained and a 36 percent increase in children traveling alone apprehensions. This is in comparison to the statistics from the same time the previous year according to border patrol. Along the port of entry in Yuma, there are countless make-shift tents serving as home to migrants looking to enter the U.S. This large group of apprehended  illegal immigrants comes at the height of the border security issue in Washington DC. Senate Republicans are facing off with President Trump as they vote on the House-passed disapproval measure...
Europe's Anti-Immigration Left
by Daniel Pipes
{} ~ With very few exceptions, liberals in the United States favor high levels of immigration; and the American left goes further... calling to "Abolish ICE" (a reference to Immigration Customs and Enforcement, America's border security agency). But developments in Europe suggest this near-unanimity could one day shatter. Since the end of World War II, Europe's left has overwhelmingly seen the free movement of labor and immigration as the best ways to challenge corporate interests; in the words of progressive writer David Adler on whose article, "Meet Europe's Left Nationalists," I have relied here these "hastened the pace of history and heightened capitalism's contradictions." Accordingly, the left helped build the European Union and then pass the 1985 Schengen Agreement that virtually eliminated internal borders among 26 European countries with a population of more than 400 million. It also enthusiastically welcomed non-Europeans, an approach that culminated in 2015-16 with Angela Merkel a leftist in conservative disguise taking in a million-plus migrants, mostly from the Middle East, who were met in Germany by a Willkommenskultur, or welcoming culture. That massive influx, and especially the Islamists among them, stimulated a backlash among the left's historic base, the workers, leading them to desert it in favor of once-marginal anti-immigration and anti-Islamization parties, the ones I call civilizationist. These parties, with their mix of generous social benefits and strong border controls, are gaining throughout Europe to the point that they wield real power in five governments those of Poland, Czechia, Hungary, Austria and Italy...
Pulosi Rejects Impeachment ... For Now
Thomas Gallatin:  In a wide-ranging interview published in The Washington Post Magazine, House Speaker Nancy Pulosi made a statement that appears to be aimed at tamping down all the Democrat rhetoric on wanting to impeach President Donald Trump. “I’m not for impeachment,” Pulosi stated. “Impeachment is so divisive to the country that unless there’s something so compelling and overwhelming and bipartisan, I don’t think we should go down that path, because it divides the country. And he’s just not worth it.”

So, what can be made of Pulosi’s statement? Three possibilities, and perhaps a combination of all three.

First, it’s important to note that Pulosi’s statement does not preclude any future impeachment attempts. Instead, she has simply conceded that Democrats do not presently have enough political capital to instigate impeachment proceedings. In other words, Pulosi recognizes that as things currently stand, an attempt at impeachment would be more politically damaging for Democrats than for President Donald Trump. And practically speaking, with the Senate under GOP control, an impeachment attempt without any real evidence would only push Republicans to further coalesce behind Trump. To put it bluntly, Pelosi knows it would be a politically damaging effort in futility.

Second, Pulosi may have deduced something about or even been privy to dirty cop-Robert Mueller’s forthcoming report. If, as we have long speculated, the report finds no evidence of any Trump/Russia collusion conspiracy, Pulosi will need to have her party repositioned in such a fashion as to avoid appearing to have invested any real political capital in dirty cop-Mueller’s findings. By downplaying the impeachment mantra that has been entirely linked to Russian collusion, Pulosi is attempting to pull back and make Democrats look the part of objectively minded statesmen, not the politically invested hacks they are.

Finally, Pulosi is flexing her intra-party authority over the young and popular upstarts within her own party. By publicly speaking out to a prominent Leftmedia outlet, Pulosi is communicating to her young leftist firebrands that whatever their rhetoric may be, she will be the one to decide what if any action will be taken on impeachment, not them. And no action will be taken — yet. Of course, that will all change if House Judiciary Committee chairman Jerrold Nadler’s fishing expedition turns up anything.   ~ The Patriot Post

CONFUSION:   Pelosi Says Constitution Spells Out ‘Two Co-Equal Branches’ Of Government

No Nancy. No.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi must be taking night classes at the Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez School of Government.

Pelosi, the 79-year-old third-highest ranking official in the U.S. government, was speaking to the Center for American Progress today when she mistakenly said there are “two co-equal branches” of government, before correcting herself to say there are three.

“First of all, let me just say, we take an oath of office to protect and defend the Constitution of the United States,” Pelosi said.

“Democrats take that oath seriously, and we are committed to honoring our oath of office. I’m not sure that our Republican colleagues share that commitment, and I’m not sure that the president of the United States does, too,” she claimed.

“So, in light of the fact that the beauty of the Constitution is a system of checks and balances— two co-equal branches— three co-equal branches of government,” she corrected with a laugh.

“A check and balance on each other,” she continued. “Con— Constitution spells out the pri— pa, uh, the duties of Congress and one of them is oversight of the president of the United States, another one of them is to impeach the president of the United States,” Pelosi said.

In November, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez rallied supporters on Facebook to pitch in and help Democrats take back “all three chambers of Congress.”

“…the Progressive movement works and it wins in all districts…If we work our butts off to make sure that we take back all three chambers of Congress– three chambers of government…,” she said during the virtual appearance.

She clarified that she meant the “presidency, the Senate and the House.”

According to the Constitution, the three branches of government are the legislative, executive and judicial.
