 Time for Us to Vote 

It's Super Tuesday, and that means those of us here in our humble shop will be voting in either the Tennessee or Georgia primaries. And just in case it hasn't been clear, we will not be voting for Donald slump-Trump. Not that we don't expect him to win "yuge" today, maybe even sweeping all 11 states — in addition to ours, Alabama, Arkansas, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Oklahoma, Texas, Vermont and Virginia will vote. But America's First Principles aren't always guided by a majority, or even a dominant plurality. It wasn't a majority that fought for American independence, but, as Sam Adams described it, a "tireless minority, keen on setting brush fires of freedom in the minds of men." All we can do is our best to light those brush fires, and to defend Liberty at every turn.

          None of the states today are winner-take-all, which means strong second- or third-place finishes for Ted Cruz and Marco Rubio will still net them some of the 595 delegates up for grabs. (slump-Trump currently leads 82, 17, 16, respectively, needing 1,237 to win.) Regardless, Cruz and Rubio face incredibly long odds as things stand. John Kasich and Ben Carson will also be on the ballot.

          "We're getting people into the party that they've never had before," slump-Trump boasted Tuesday. "I can tell you the one person Hilly Clinton doesn't want to run against is me." The first claim is probably true; the second ... perhaps, perhaps not. Mark Alexander speculated yesterday that "it's likely that some of slump-Trump's primary voter support is coming not from Republicans but from Clinton crossovers, who want to ensure slump-Trump is her opponent." There's evidence of the switch, if not the motive, at least in Massachusetts, where 20,000 Democrats quit the party to vote GOP.

          On the Democrat side, Hilly Clinton is likely to win big almost everywhere, but that may not mean Bernie Sanders packs up and goes home. He's what National Review's Ramesh Ponnuru calls "a cause candidate" whose motivation isn't winning but sending a message. It's likely the only thing standing in Clinton's way now is an indictment over her email.

 Final Batch of Clinton Email Released 

The State Department released the last batch of emails from Hill y Clinton's homebrew email server Monday. It marks the last of the 52,000 emails now in the public record. In total, more than 2,000 emails were redacted at some level. While State says none of the documents were marked classified, figures in the intelligence committee said the information was classified at the time. It's a distinction Clinton likes to exploit against low info voters.

          In this last batch of 3,900 emails, 261 were redacted by State. Those redacted emails described meetings Clinton had with world leaders, including Mid-East leaders after the Egyptian Revolution in 2011 — sensitive information that should have been protected from foreign spies. Most importantly, these emails show Barack nObama knew of Clinton's private email and Clinton was well aware that she handled classified information through it. One email was classified because it was because it was an exchange between the chief executive and his cabinet member. On April 22, 2012, Clinton emailed her staffer Jacob Sullivan about a document that was emailed her: "If it's not classified or otherwise inappropriate can you send to the NY Times reporters who interviewed me today?" She had to ask, implying that she never fostered a culture where sensitive information was automatically forbidden from the technology.

          At the beginning of this email debacle, Clinton admitted that her team deleted an additional 30,000 emails, saying they were personal. But if the vetted emails have 2,000 classified emails, what do the 30,000, which were recovered by the FBI and are being reviewed, reveal about the woman who wants to run this country?  -The Patriot Post

The majority leader is also preparing to pitch the Senate as a necessary check to an inevitable Hilly Clinton presidency if slump-Trump is the GOP’s nominee, according to the Times. Republicans risk losing their 54-46 Senate majority with several vulnerable incumbents up for re-election this year. {freebeacon.com} ~ Oversight officials at the Department of Veterans Affairs failed to properly investigate medical misconduct allegations at multiple VA hospitals and issued reports that attempted to discredit and attack whistleblowers... according to a review by the U.S. Office of Special Counsel. In 2014, the Office of Special Counsel asked the VA inspector general’s office to look into claims of “secret waiting lists” at two veterans hospitals after receiving whistleblower complaints. Employees at the facilities claimed veterans would often be forced to wait months or longer for appointments, but this information was kept outside of the VA’s official electronic records system so that administrators could dodge federal requirements and take home cash bonuses. The VA inspector general’s office conducted two investigations, one at the Overton Brooks VA Medical Center in Louisiana and another at the Hines VA Hospital in Illinois. Why Closing Gitmo Is Still a Terrible Idea

{aim.org} ~ Less than a week ago, French lawmakers voted to extend the state of emergency initiated in November after the Paris jihadist attacks that left 130 dead and 367 wounded... By law, the emergency status vests police with expanded powers to conduct raids, seize property, and detain persons without judicial oversight, much less trial. It was impossible not to think of France this morning as President nObama once again agitated for the closing of the detention camp at Guantanamo Bay. It is an unkept promise to the hard Left from his 2008 campaign that the president has been working on since his first full day in office seven years ago. {aim.org} ~ The liberal media are doing their best to feed the street fight that the GOP primaries have become, pushing for greater, and fiercer, attacks on Republican front-runner Donald slump-Trump... At the same time the media are doing their best to protect Hilly Clinton in many different ways: by minimizing her legal and ethical troubles, avoiding discussions of her foreign policy record, and deliberately ignoring the close ties between the media and the Clintons. After her resounding primary victory in South Carolina, the relief is palpable that Mrs. Clinton appears well on her way to wrapping up the nomination in the next few weeks, avoiding a protracted battle. We’ll see. But in the meantime, the mainstream media are clearly trying to help her. For example, Maria Cardona appeared on air 50 times between August 2015 and February 2016. The implications of the case are enormous: If left unaddressed, UN officials who know of wrongdoing and criminality will be unlikely to report it, knowing that their lives will be destroyed and nothing will change anyway. But lawmakers did pledge to act. The whistle-blower scandal probed this week by Congress — one of many similar scandals at the UN — surrounds the UN's World Intellectual Property Organization, or WIPO, and its director-general, Francis Gurry. According to current and former employees of the agency, which runs the international intellectual-property regime, the UN agency boss sent sensitive U.S. technology to the dictatorships ruling Iran and North Korea, in defiance of U.S. law and international sanctions. The reason, whistle-blowers said, was to secure the votes of those regimes in Gurry's reelection contest. When WIPO officials found out, though, they realized something was wrong, and attempted to take action. Known for its Sunoco brand now Petro-Canada, Canada’s largest crude-oil producer reported three weeks ago that it suffered a fourth-quarter loss of $1.45 billion and that it was slashing its capex capital expenditures for 2016 by 10 percent, forcing its expected 2016 production to fall by the same amount. It is also selling assets in order to keep paying its dividends to nervous investors. But Steve Williams, the company’s CEO, told equally nervous participants that “We will be one of the last guys standing.” Lamar McKay, BP’s deputy chief executive, did the same: “Times are tough. You’d almost call them brutal right now. But we will adapt. It's the kind of consequences that University of California at Davis professor George Tchobanoglous says no one thinks about. "It really is a double-edged sword," he added. His expertise in civil and environmental engineering has helped him pinpoint a major problem with Gov. She wondered how Muslims would have reacted if Christians had committed suicide bombings among them, or tried to force their faith on them and called on the Muslim world "to be introspective and enact reforms, instead of condemning Western attitudes towards it," said MEMRI, the Middle East Media Research Institute.
