Senate rebukes Trump, takes step toward
ending US support for Saudi war in Yemen
by Susan Ferrechio
{washingtonexaminer.com} ~ The Senate voted Wednesday to debate a resolution that would end U.S. support of the Saudi-led war in Yemen, and in doing so... ignored a push from the Trump administration to not retaliate against Saudi Arabia for its role in the murder of dissident Jamal Khashoggi. Senators voted 63-37 to discharge the resolution from committee and debate it on the floor. As a result of the vote, senators this week will debate whether the United States should end support provided to Saudi-led coalition forces in Yemen in a long-running war against Iran-backed Houthis. The vote followed a closed-door Senate briefing, led by Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and Defense Secretary Jim Mattis, about America’s role in Yemen as well as the recent murder of Khashoggi at the hands of Saudi government officials. Senate Republicans and Democrats who left the briefing were upset that CIA Director Gina Haspel, who investigated the Khashoggi murder, was not part of the briefing. While the measure has little chance of clearing Congress this year, it sends a signal to both President Trump and the Saudi government that lawmakers plan to take action to sanction the country over the death of dissident Jamal Khashoggi, who was murdered in October at the Saudi Consulate in Istanbul. A CIA investigation found that Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman directed the murder of Khashoggi, and lawmakers are now determined to sanction him in a way that President Trump has been reluctant to do...  https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/news/congress/senate-rebukes-trump-takes-step-toward-ending-us-support-for-saudi-war-in-yemen?utm_source=WEX_News%20Brief_11/28/2018&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=WEX_News%20Brief

{americanlibertyreport.com} ~ Vice President Pence and Chinese President Xi Jinping exchanged harsh words last week at the Annual Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation summit... The confrontation led to what Zerohedge referred to as “unprecedented chaos and disarray, without agreement on a joint communique for the first time in its history as the escalating rivalry between the United States and China dominated proceedings and reflected escalating trade tensions.” Competition between China and the US over the whole Pacific region also became a point of focus as the US and her allies have launched a massive coordinated response to China’s Belt and Road initiative, according to Reuters. A diplomat told the news wire organization that the two nations have been courting tensions all week. He said it all began when a Chinese diplomat took exception to two paragraphs in an early draft of the document which mentioned “unfair trade practices” and suggested reforming the World Trade Organization (WTO). The other mentioned sustainable development. The diplomat, who has chosen to remain unnamed said, “These two countries were pushing each other so much that the chair couldn’t see an option to bridge them. China was angered that the reference to WTO blamed a country for unfair trade practices.”...  https://www.americanlibertyreport.com/articles/china-threatens-cold-war-after-apec-summit/

{jpost.com} ~ US Ambassador David M. Friedman has demanded the immediate release of Isaam Akel, a Palestinian-American arrested by the Palestinian Authority security forces... two months ago for engaging in a real estate transaction with Jews in the Muslim Quarter of Jerusalem’s Old City. “Akel’s incarceration is antithetical to the values of the US & to all who advocate the cause of peaceful coexistence,” said Friedman on Twitter. “We demand his immediate release.”  Palestinian sources said Akel, a resident of Bethlehem, had worked for the PA Ministry for Local Government. “The 55-year-old man, who is a US citizen, is being interrogated by the Palestinians security agencies in Ramallah for his role in the sale of an Arab-owned house in the Old City of Jerusalem to a Jewish organization,” sources told The Jerusalem Post upon Akel’s arrest. They said that the man arrested was suspected of acting as a “solicitor” between the owner of the house and Ateret Cohenim, a yeshiva group that has long been purchasing Arab-owned property in the east Jerusalem and the Old City, which reportedly purchased the house in the Old city of Jerusalem’s Muslim Quarter...

Fleming and Melissa Nann Burke
{detroitnews.com} ~ President Donald Trump is considering Michigan businessman John James, who lost a November election to U.S. Sen. Debbie Stabenow... to replace United Nations Ambassador Nikki Haley, according to two people familiar with the matter. James, a Republican from Farmington Hills, tried to unseat Stabenow, a Lansing Democrat, in a traditional Democratic presidential state that helped Trump win the presidency in 2016. He lost to the incumbent senator 46 to 52 percent, making it a closer race than polls initially suggested. The Trump administration is considering putting a person without ambassador's experience into the job, a source said. James has never been an ambassador, but a source said a person with ambassador's experience would likely be his deputy if he is chosen. A White House spokesman said Monday he had “no personnel announcements at this time.” A call to James' office was not returned. James visited the White House last week to discuss an administration job with Trump, Vice President Mike Pence and Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, unidentified sources told Bloomberg News, which first reported James' candidacy for the UN ambassadorship...

scumbag-Soros Org Packing Up and Leaving

{westernjournal.com} ~ There are some people in this world who are perceived as so manifestly terrible and disruptive to society at large... that even people from vastly different ideologies and schools of thought can come together and agree that such people just need to go away. Leftist billionaire philanthropist scumbag-George Soros is one of those individuals. While scumbag-Soros is already generally despised by most conservatives and moderates in America for his work at destabilizing the nation through the funding of a plethora of progressive groups, it appears he has also now drawn the ire of the Islamist leader of Turkey for reasons that, at least on the surface, appear to be remarkably similar. The Guardian reported that scumbag-Soros’ Open Societies Foundation has announced that it will cease operations and completely withdraw from the nation of Turkey. The announcement came in response to an accusation from Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan that the progressive organization was attempting to undermine, divide and destroy his nation … the same sort of thing American conservatives accuse scumbag-Soros of attempting to do. The scumbag-Soros organization called the accusations baseless, of course, and asserted that the unwelcome reception it is receiving from the Turkish government has now made it impossible for it to continue doing whatever work it is that it does. The real reason the scumbag-Soros-funded Open Societies Foundation may have begun scrambling to extricate itself from Turkey is that it is also now reportedly under investigation by the Turkish Interior Ministry for alleged links to anti-government protests that occurred in Gezi Park in Istanbul in 2013 — protests that the scumbag-Soros organization denied having any involvement with. However, a key associate of scumbag-Soros — indeed, the founder of scumbag-Soros’ operations in Turkey — named Hakan Altinay was detained by the government along with a dozen other individuals a little more than a week ago as part of the government’s investigation. Altinay and the others were accused of providing support for a jailed civil rights activist named Osman Kavala, who himself stands accused of attempting to overthrow the government by way of the mass protests in 2013... We, the Unites States should do the same, kick him out.

The Race in Mississippi Was All About Race

by Nate Jackson:  “That’s racist!” Oh how tiresome is the charge leftists make virtually every day against a Republican somewhere. The slandered person this time is GOP Sen. Cindy Hyde-Smith, who yesterday won her runoff to become the first elected female senator from Mississippi. Gov. Phil Bryant appointed her to the seat earlier this year to replace Thad Cochran. Leftmedia outlets teased 24/7 that the race would be close primarily because of contrived racial controversy, but Hyde-Smith ended up defeating Democrat and former scumbag/liar-Clinton Agriculture Secretary Mike Espy 54-46. Unwilling to let the narrative go easily, Twitter headlined that she “narrowly” won. We suppose it’s “narrow” compared to Donald Trump’s 18-point win in 2016…

Significantly, of course, Hyde-Smith’s win provides Senate Republicans with a majority of 53 seats, and thus a more comfortable cushion for anything from confirming President Trump’s judicial nominees to advancing conservative legislation to blocking sick-Nancy Pulosi’s House legislative agenda. As we argued the day after the midterms, GOP gains in the Senate were driven mainly by voter concern over the judiciary in the wake of Democrats’ horrendous treatment of Justice Brett Kavanaugh.
Speaking of horrendous treatment, that brings us back to the big issue in this race — race. The Washington Post called it a “racially charged election.” But why was that the case? Because Democrats injected race into the mix. Blacks make up 37% of Mississippi’s population, the highest of any state, and Espy would have been the first black senator to represent the state since Reconstruction. Thus, any apparent gaffe made by Hyde-Smith — from innocuous comments about a public hanging to donning a Confederate uniform cap at a tourism appearance — turned into a scandal supposedly proving her racism, all to motivate black voters. As it turns out, however, some of the “evidence” of racism and hate in Mississippi came in the form of nooses left hanging from trees near the state capitol … by Democrat protesters.
None of this is to say Hyde-Smith was a particularly strong candidate — she wasn’t. But it is to say, as Erick Erickson notes, “2020 is going to be the nastiest campaign season we have ever seen because the Democrats will look at Georgia, Mississippi, Florida and elsewhere and conclude they must amplify, sustain, and magnify their accusations of racism to suppress some voters while driving up the turn out of others.”  ~The Patriot Post
