{ rickwells.us } ~ The Democrats are throwing everything they can think of at President Trump and the Republicans... in order to distract and attempt to redirect the fingers of blame and criminal misconduct away from them, their institutional corruption, their attempts to steal the 2016 election, and the subsequent, ongoing coup against President Trump and the millions of American patriots who voted for him.  On Friday the foul mouthed snaggle-toothed DNC Chairman Thomas Perez, along with Minnesota jihadist scum-Keith Ellison, his deputy, sued the Trump presidential campaign, the Russian government and WikiLeaks, claiming a broad illegal conspiracy to help Trump win the 2016 election. Just because four or five Congressional “investigations,” and one by a DOJ witch hunter have turned up nothing doesn’t mean they’re through making the claims. They’re building on the rumors they’ve created over the past year and a half, now relying on the crooked judiciary to provide them a victory without the need for any real proof. liar-nObama appointed judges will do or say anything to advance the globalist agenda...  https://rickwells.us/dnc-clinton-sue-trump-russia/.

{ meforum.org } ~ At 70, Israel stands strong, yet debates about its health persist. The radical Israeli Left seems most concerned about the country’s future... arguing that there is great urgency in solving the Palestinian-Israeli conflict; otherwise, Israel is doomed. The Left contends that Israel’s democratic character, its international legitimacy, and its ability to withstand protracted conflict all are threatened by the ongoing stalemate. Indeed, Israel has faced existential threats from its neighbors since its establishment. And as a small state its existence is precarious. Moreover, Jews with a historical consciousness remember that a Jewish state was twice destroyed by powerful empires. So nothing can be taken for granted. However, this article argues that time seems to be on Israel’s side. A review of the balance of power between Israel and its foes, and of the domestic features molding Israel’s national power such as its economy, social cohesion and political system, and of Israel’s standing in the international community, validates the assessment that Israel has the dominant hand for the foreseeable future...

Turkey’s president is holding

{ defenddemocracy.org } ~ On April 16, an American pastor unjustly detained in a Turkish prison for 18 months will finally get to defend himself in court... Andrew Brunson, a Presbyterian minister from North Carolina, faces up to seven years of pretrial detention under Turkey’s draconian state of emergency. Brunson is not a prisoner but a hostage, whom Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan is cynically using to extort concessions from the United States, a fellow member of NATO. It is high time for President Trump to press for Brunson’s immediate and unconditional release. For over 20 years before his sudden arrest, Brunson had preached peacefully in Turkey’s third-largest city, Izmir. Initially, Turkish authorities charged Brunson with membership in an armed terrorist organization. Later they added charges of espionage and attempting to overthrow the government, although there is no evidence to support any of these accusations. Brunson’s attorneys finally received the indictment last month, but only after it had been leaked to the media. The 62-page indictment is a muddled collection of conspiracy theories based largely on ludicrous accusations from three “secret witnesses.” If convicted, Brunson faces a life sentence. Brunson is a respected member of his community and didn’t quit his post even after surviving a far-right militant’s armed attack in 2011. When Turkey’s religious minorities, particularly Christians and Jews, became scapegoats following the abortive coup in July 2016, Brunson, like many other church leaders, came under increasing pressure...

{ meforum.org } ~ April 20, 2018 – Fifty-one members of Congress have signed a Forum-originated letter to President Trump... The letter, sent by Rep. Doug Lamborn (Republican of Colorado) asks to declassify a State Department report on how many individuals currently considered “Palestine refugees” by the United Nations fit the U.S. government definition of refugee. The United States has provided over $1 billion to these “refugees” via the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) over the past four years. The Forum has long sought the end of U.S. recognition of fake Palestinian refugees who did not live in 1946-48 in what is today Israel. The State Department report in question came in reply to the Kirk Amendment to the 2012 Appropriations bill which, inspired by the Forum, directed the State Department to figure out the number of real refugees. The 2014 and 2015 Appropriations bills reaffirmed this requirement. Finally, in 2015, the State Department delivered the report to Congress, but classified it, hoping thereby to conceal its contents from U.S. taxpayers...

{ defenddemocracy.org } ~ Since the weekend military strike against chemical-weapons sites in Syria... the debate in Washington has centered on whether the strike went far enough. But policy makers should consider another question of equal importance: Is the U.S. prepared to cut off the financial lifelines that keep Bashar Assad in power? The Islamic Republic of Iran spent roughly $15 billion last year to bolster its longtime strategic partner in Damascus. It bought arms for Mr. Assad’s military and financed the foreign Shiite militias, including Lebanon’s Hezbollah, that fight for the Syrian dictator. Iran’s annual contribution to Hezbollah alone stands at between $700 million and $800 million. Tehran has deployed its Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps to Syria and has lent money to Mr. Assad to finance imports such as petroleum. Iran extended a $1 billion line of credit in 2017, on top of the $5.6 billion it had already provided. This credit is provided through the Islamic Republic’s Export Development Bank, while all funds ultimately run through Iran’s central bank. A Syria strategy that leaves these Iranian financial spigots open is doomed to fail. Why haven’t they been blocked? For fear of jeopardizing the 2015 nuclear accord, the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action, which relieved sanctions on Iranian banks, regime assets and economic sectors. This policy paralysis needs to end, and this weekend’s military strike, conducted in close coordination with France and Britain, should lead to a trans-Atlantic understanding that allows true financial warfare against the Iran-Syria nexus to commence...

Trump Oversees Biggest Cuts to Regs in Quarter-Century

Those regulations amount to a “hidden tax” on Americans, as well as a severe limit on Liberty. The good news is that President Donald Trump has followed through on his campaign promise to cut federal regulations, and his initial efforts have produced the most significant cutting of government red tape in more than 25 years. Here are some of the highlights thus far per the CEI:
  • Federal regulations and intervention cost Americans $1.9 trillion in 2017.
  • Federal regulation is a hidden tax that amounts to nearly $15,000 per U.S. household each year, more than Americans spend on any category in their family budget except for housing.
  • In 2017, 97 laws were enacted by Congress during the calendar year, while 3,281 rules were issued by agencies. Thus, 34 rules were issued for every law enacted.
  • If it were a country, U.S. federal regulation would be the world’s eighth-largest economy, ranking behind India and ahead of Italy.
  • Many Americans are concerned about their annual tax burden, but total regulatory costs exceeded the $1.88 trillion the IRS collected in both individual and corporate income taxes in 2017.
  • Some 67 federal departments, agencies, and commissions are currently working on 3,209 new regulations in various stages of development.
  • The five most active rulemaking entities — the Departments of Commerce, Defense, Transportation, Treasury, and the Environmental Protection Agency — account for 1,359 rules, or 43 percent of all proposed regulations currently under consideration.
  • The 2017 Federal Register contained 61,308 pages, the lowest count since 1993 and a 36 percent drop from Obama’s 95,894 pages in 2016, the highest level ever recorded.
Clearly Trump is off to a good start, but as Wayne Crews, CEI’s vice president for policy, says, “There are warning signs.” Crews explains, “President Trump’s own apparent affinity for strong antitrust enforcement and protectionist trade policies threaten to undermine the economic gains from his regulatory reform efforts.” However, the greatest factor in controlling government regulations lies largely with the Congress, as the legislative branch ultimately has the most authority and responsibility to make the rules. Congress did use the Congressional Review Act to eliminate 15 onerous Obama-era rules in 2017, but Congress has in recent years and in certain areas delegated too much of its authority to non-elected federal bureaucrats.   ~The Patriot Post
