{activistpost.com} ~ A bill silently passed through Congress and to U.S. President Donald Trump’s desk that was signed right before Thanksgiving last week... which would re-designate the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s National Protection and Programs Directorate (NPPD) into a new agency called the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA.) Every day, America’s adversaries are testing our cyber defenses. They attempt to gain access to our critical infrastructure, exploit our great companies, and undermine our entire way of life. And we can’t let that happen. This vital legislation will establish a new agency within the Department of Homeland Security to lead the federal government’s civilian response to these cyber threats against our nation. We’ve had many, many threats against our nation. Cyber is going to be the newest form. And the threats have taken place, and we’ve been doing pretty good in knocking them out, but now we’ll be — this will make us, I think, much more effective. We’re putting people that are the best in the world, in charge. And I think we’re going to have a whole different ballgame. Cyber is, to a large extent, where it’s at nowadays. The men and women of the new Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency will be on the front lines of our cyber defense. They will partner with the private sector, and all levels of government, to defend America’s power grids, banks, telecommunications, and other critical parts of our economy...
Is Justice Roberts an 'scumbag/liar-nObama Judge'?

{americanthinker.com} ~ If the Kavanaugh hearings showed Chief Justice Roberts anything, it should have been that the notion that the Supreme Court is in a pristine bubble immune... from political considerations and thoughts is false and has been at least since the days that the character assassins of Robert Bork made his name a verb in the dictionary his failed nomination left on the ash heap of history: The year was 1987. It was fall. It was November 11. It had been a tough year for President Ronald Reagan. Liberals were going bonkers with Iran-Contra as a hopeful tool to destroy a great president on the verge of winning the Cold War. The media was dubbing Iran-Contra the worst mistake of Reagan’s presidency. It was not. What happened on November 11, 1987 would, in due course, constitute the worst mistake of the Reagan presidency: the nomination of Anthony Kennedy for the U.S. Supreme Court. The Kennedy pick was supposed to calm the waters after the storm generated by the Robert Bork and Douglas Ginsburg nominations. Bork would have been a brilliant justice, but leftists savaged the man, transmogrifying him into an ugly beast -- a gargoyle. Bork suffered the ignominy of the likes of Senator Ted Kennedy portraying him as “anti-woman.” A new verb was introduced into the political lexicon: the process of being “Borked.”  It had dawned on the Democrats that they could bypass the cumbersome legislative process still tied to that inconvenient “consent of the government thing” by concentrating on the courts and populating it with judges who believed in the “living constitution” which was to be interpreted in the context of the times inflamed by public passions and the liberal cause du jour. Original intent was an anachronism. Bork’s nomination scared the hell out of Democrats who thought the unalienable right to life Thomas Jefferson placed in the Declaration of Independence didn’t really mean that: Bork was an originalist, meaning that he believed the Constitution contained no “penumbras” and “emanations” one could hang an imaginary right to an abortion on, a fact which prompted Chappaquiddick’s champion of women’s rights, Sen. Ted Kennedy, to cross that bridge when he came to it in his epic rant on Bork’s nomination...

President Trump's Wall of Compassion

{americanthinker.com} ~ The focus of the liberal media and many liberal commentators and pundits has been on President Trump’s uncompromising defense of the USA from the migrant caravans... some of which now encroach on our southern border. They don’t tend to praise him for doing the right thing. Rather, they are wholly critical of his unflinching intent to secure the border with the help of the military. They condemn President Trump for doing his duty to safeguard US national security and claim that the migrants are harmless and an asset to our country. In their rage against President Trump, they commit themselves to the ill-informed and myopic view that he is harming the migrants. In reality, President Trump is being compassionate to countless future would-be migrants who would face a treacherous and often deadly journey on a misguided quest to enter the US illegally. Filmmaker Ami Horowitz visited the migrant caravan that began in Honduras and reported that it is comprised of relatively few women and children, with an estimated 90 – 95% of the caravan being men. Horowitz reported that the caravans did not just naturally coalesce and was not spontaneous, but rather is highly organized. People in the caravan tend to be looking for a better life in the United States, rather than fleeing for their lives from their home countries. Pueblo Sin Fronteras organizes these caravans. In English the organization is known as People Without Borders, and, true to its name, its goal is for open borders -- something that poses a direct threat to the national security of the United States and other sovereign countries. Pueblo Sin Fronteras organizer Alex Mensing admitted to USA TODAY that the caravans are “a mass exodus” of people from Central America to the US -- effectively an attempt to begin to render the US border meaningless. According to Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen, as many as 10,000 migrants are expected to arrive at the US border, while the Mexican Consulate has reported on the presence of about 8,200 migrants...

On the Caravan, CNN’s scumbag-Jim Acosta
is Even More Wrong This Week

{immigrationreform.com} ~ During last week’s post-election White House press conference, CNN’s scumbag-Jim Acosta demonstrated his ignorance of the basic tenets of reporting... Rather than seeking the facts, he sought the spotlight by attempting to school President Trump about the Central American migrant caravan. scumbag-Acosta opened up his  exchange by asserting he “wanted to challenge” the president about his use of the term “invasion” to describe thousands of migrants coming toward the U.S. border. Instead of striving to understand the president’s viewpoint, he merely pushed his own. “As you know, Mr. President, the caravan was not an invasion. It’s a group of migrants moving up from Central America towards the border with the U.S.,” proclaimed scumbag-Acosta. scumbag-Acosta will need to add the residents and government officials in Tijuana, Mexico to his lecture circuit. On Friday, Tijuana Mayor Juan Manuel Gastelum termed the influx of migrants an “avalanche,” while Luis Alexis Mendoza, a carpenter in the Mexican town, screamed that “this is an invasion,” according to the Los Angeles Times...

Liberals Have Gone Mental

{americanthinker.com} ~ Modern liberalism is diseased. It is wrought by mental maladies exacerbated by postmodernism’s delusional insistence that empirical facts are figments of white male rule... This warped view subverts reality if it doesn’t conform to their revisionist left-wing propaganda. Eight years ago, Michael Savage made this call in his book, Liberalism is a Mental Disorder. The mass malady also foments mental discontinuity and cognitive dissonance, ensnaring misguided college students in particular.  Cognitive dissonance occurs when an individual’s thoughts or beliefs are rooted in inconsistency, which is precisely what modern liberalism wallows in. Under the auspices of effete liberal intellectuals, postmodernism is prevalent in academia  where it enfeebles budding liberals’ thoughts with nihilistic notions that ravage objective truths. The resultant relativism engenders delusions and waywardness amongst malleable students – particularly in the soft social sciences that the would-be social activists pursue. Is it any wonder, when combined with their addiction to social media, that depression is the most common health problem afflicting college students? Whereas classical liberalism underpins much of America’s greatness, modern liberalism dallies with madness that develops in the contrived curricula that pervades the humanities, sociology, and women’s studies.  Research in these fields is tainted by biased academicians who manipulate their methodologies to predispose positive results that favor social activism. Often motivated by the “publish or perish” syndrome, null results are given short shrift, skewing social science literature towards leftist tautologies. And skewering the impressionable minds of their dutiful minions-cum-social warriors who are all too willing to intimidate non-believers and desecrate the public square. Stifled by an overwhelmingly liberal orthodoxy on campus, even instructors risk professional peril should they dare jump off the bandwagon bias. What chance do the gullible students stand other than to embrace the pathos of resentment and bitterness toward Western Civilization, and America itself? The susceptible students are even conditioned to question whether America is the land of opportunity. They are told that America was never really that great, even as many of the world’s wretched masses have been entranced  by our brilliant beacon of freedom throughout our magnificent history...

by Michael Swartz:  The tragic loss of 16 students and one coach from one high school in a single incidentis bound to dominate the news for days. But who knew that the five cities with the highest number of murders in 2017 combined to match that terrible total in just three days?

Chicago led the way with 650 murders last year, and while Baltimore was second with 343, its per capita total of 55.8 per 100,000 residents was the highest in the nation among its 50 most populous cities. As Baltimore partisans were quick to point out, though, St. Louis, whose steady population decline has put it outside that top 50, had an even higher murder rate of 65 per 100,000. It matters little — the vast majority of the cities on the list have been run by Democrats for decades. So where’s the outrage?
Bear in mind that many of these cities have stringent gun laws. But while the Left’s answer is to blame guns, there’s truly much more to the story. One key element is the issue of gangs: “Some young men take precautions appropriate to Beirut, circling their home block three or four times in search of any person or car that is out of place, before they will park,” writes Washington Post columnist Michael Gerson. “Others must be smuggled out of the city to avoid revenge killings.” A lucrative drug trade and a lack of respect for human life are clearly fertilizing these killing fields.
Yet too often among these “war zones within the borders of America,” young men grow up without a dad. Whether that’s because the father has left the mother voluntarily (or was never really “with” her in the first place), has since been imprisoned, or was a victim of violence himself doesn’t necessarily matter — the issue is the lack of positive male influence in the these children’s lives.
As marriage and family expert Suzanne Venker points out about divorce, “More often than not, children lose contact with their fathers — for two reasons. One, mothers remain the default custodial parent in the average American divorce and thus retain most of the control. Second, it is usually women who consider themselves the aggrieved party, as evidenced by the fact that wives initiate 70 percent of divorces.” She continues, “The unfortunate result is that some divorced mothers use any opportunity to undermine their children’s relationship with their father or, if not that, dismiss the significance of a father’s role.”
Government fosters this behavior with its longtime financial encouragement of single motherhood through generous welfare programs — some “Great Society” that’s turned out to be. Popular culture has done likewise with the “girl power” theory that men aren’t even necessary to raise children. If your male role model is the drug dealer on the corner or the violent protagonist of a hardcore video game, it’s likely that your disagreements are being settled with bullets, not banter. These kids will get the guns, by hook or by crook.
Democrat-run urban poverty plantations are the petri dishes of this lab experiment to create a society where life is disposable. But those who prosper from this politically would rather blame the NRA and tell us how its money and influence won’t allow for “common sense” gun legislation that invariably includes restrictions on the purchase and possession of firearms. It doesn’t matter that the NRA badly trails a number of left-wing groups in terms of annual spending on political activism — the Left needs a convenient scapegoat.
As Mark Alexander wrote Thursday, Democrat “common sense” is a non sequitur.
The kids at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School have been omnipresent in the media since the day of the shooting, and their plight is inspiring them to march and protest for gun control — which leftists are more than happy to exploit. That, however, is not the issue. As we find out more about the perpetrator and his story, we find out there were many missed opportunities for intervention from school officials and law enforcement that could have prevented this. But there are thousands of shooters and victims in America’s inner cities, most of whom you’ll never hear about from the 24/7 crisis media. Media reporting or no, we can’t address the problem unless we reverse the policies that created it.
