FORD’S DIRTY EMISSIONS SCHEME: “The U.S. Justice Department has opened a criminal investigation into Ford Motor Co.‘s emissions certification process. Ford said in February that it had begun an internal investigation into whether its vehicles have worse gas mileage and emit more pollutants than car, truck and SUV labels actually reveal, going back to 2017 models. … An anonymous employee reporting system at Ford raised the issue in September 2018, the company disclosed in February.” (USA Today)

DEVIOUS ATTORNEY KIM FOXX SUBPOENAED: “Chicago’s top prosecutor, Kim Foxx, has been subpoenaed Friday over her handling of the Jussie Smollett case, according to The Chicago-Sun Times. Foxx, Cook County’s state’s attorney, will have to appear in court after a retired appellate judge, Sheila O'Brien, filed a petition last week for a special prosecutor to probe the Smollett case, in which a 16-count indictment against the 'Empire’ actor was dropped last month. MIGRANTS FLOOD TUCSON: “Border Patrol officials have begun releasing migrant families in Tucson because they lack the space to detain them and immigration officials are unable to take them into custody. The practice has been going on for about a month, according to the Border Patrol’s Tucson sector, which covers most of Arizona’s border with Mexico. … Border Patrol has not disclosed how many migrants it has released directly into Tucson in the past month since it began the practice. … Pima County officials estimate that ICE has released about 7,000 migrants in Tucson in the past eight months.” (Arizona Republic)

Feds Indict Sanctuary City Judge for
Helping Illegal Alien Escape Arrest

{breitbart.com} ~The federal government is charging a Massachusetts judge and a courtroom officer with obstruction of justice after the pair allegedly helped a twice-deported illegal alien escape... out the back door while an immigration enforcement officer was kept outside the front door. District Court Judge Shelley Richmond Joseph and Trial Court Officer Wesley MacGregor face severe penalties: “charges of conspiracy to obstruct justice and obstruction of a federal proceeding – aiding and abetting provide for sentences of no greater than 20 and five years in prison, respectively; five and three years of supervised release, respectively; and a fine of $250,000,” said a press statement from the Department of Justice.The illegal alien was arrested in March 2018 for narcotics possession. An agent from the Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency was sent to the courthouse to arrest and deport the alien, who “had twice been deported from the United States – in 2003 and 2007, and … a federal order had been issued prohibiting the defendant from entering the U.S. until 2027,” the statement said, adding:The Officer announced his presence to Courthouse personnel, including Joseph, upon arrival. Prior to the afternoon session, the courtroom clerk – at Joseph’s direction – allegedly instructed the ICE Officer to leave the courtroom and wait outside in the lobby, stating that in the event that the defendant was released, it would be through the courtroom and into the lobby. At 2:48 p.m. the case was called and the proceedings were captured on the courtroom’s audio recorder, as prescribed under the rules for all State District Courts. The audio recording captured Joseph, the defense attorney and the ADA speaking at side bar about the defendant and the ICE detainer. Joseph then allegedly ordered the courtroom clerk to “go off the record for a moment.” For the next 52 seconds, the courtroom audio recorder was turned off, in violation of the District Court rules. At 2:51 p.m., the recorder was turned back on, and Joseph indicated her intent to release the defendant. According to the charging documents, the defense attorney asked to speak with the defendant downstairs and Joseph responded, “That’s fine. Of course.” When reminded by the clerk that an ICE Officer was in the courthouse, Joseph stated, “That’s fine. I’m not gonna allow them to come in here. But he’s been released on this.” Immediately following the proceeding, MacGregor allegedly escorted the defendant, his attorney and an interpreter downstairs to the lockup and used his security access card to open the rear sally-port exit and release the defendant at 3:01 p.m....

NRA Sues LA Over Free-Speech Violation
Thomas Gallatin: The National Rifle Association filed a lawsuit against the city of Los Angeles this week for a recent ordinance the city council unanimously passed. The ordinance, introduced by councilman Mitch O'Farrell, requires any city contractor to fully disclose any sponsorship of or contact with the NRA. O'Farrell, along with fellow anti-gun zealot Councilman Paul Krekorian, claimed that the law was needed to combat the NRA, which Krekorian described as “one of the most significant roadblocks to sensible gun safety reform at every level of government across the nation.”
NRA attorney Chuck Michel argued that “politicians are free to disagree with the NRA’s pro-freedom, firearm safety, and self-reliance message, but they aren’t free to censor it — as this would do when NRA supporters drop their NRA affiliations for fear of losing work from the city because they get put on a blacklist.” The lawsuit charges that the city’s anti-NRA ordinance is an unconstitutional violation of the First Amendment’s protection of free speech and association as well as the 14th Amendment’s right to equal protection under the law.
Speaking of the NRA, its annual convention is currently underway in Indianapolis, where President Donald Trump and Vice President Mike Pence are scheduled to speak today. This will be the third consecutive year Trump has addressed the assembly. The executive director of the NRA’s Institute for Legislative Action, Chris Cox, welcomed the president and his support, stating, “Donald Trump is the most enthusiastic supporter of the Second Amendment to occupy the Oval Office in our lifetimes. President Trump’s Supreme Court appointments ensure that the Second Amendment will be respected for generations to come.
