A Review of the DOJ/FBI FISA Application Release

{ theconservativetreehouse.com } ~ Having read, re-read and re-re-read, the recent FISA application release, here’s my take at both the 30,000 ft and granular level... First, the elevated review is actually more interesting than the granular, which is remarkably odd considering how far we have traveled with this story. Why publicly release the FISA application? After all, even with the voluminous redactions, it is very unusual and it would have been exceptionally easy to deny any FOIA request under the auspices of national security. To highlight this question, consider how stunned Fran Townsend was at the release: “Having run The Justice Dept office responsible for #FISA The release of these documents is irresponsible & will irreversibly weaken counterintelligence & Counterterrorism investigations going forward.” Here is where a similar, I would say parallel, release will be overlooked. Remember, it was April 2017 when ODNI Dan Coats released the 99-page FISA Court  ruling/opinion on the historic 2015/2016 FISA abuse by the FBI and DOJ-NSD.  That release, like this one, while also heavily redacted, seemed out-of-custom for the intelligence apparatus.  Coincidentally FISA Court Presiding Judge Rosemary Collyer is a central figure in both releases...   https://theconservativetreehouse.com/2018/07/22/a-review-of-the-doj-fbi-fisa-application-release/

Trey Gowdy said that Carter Page, the former campaign adviser to Donald Trump... was more bumbling detective than secret agent after the Justice Department on Saturday released a set of documents, once deemed top secret, relating to the wiretapping of Page. “My take is that Carter Page is more like Inspector Gadget than Jason Bourne or James Bond,” Gowdy, R-S.C., said during an interview on “Fox News Sunday.” While the documents were heavily redacted in places, the New York Times reported that visible portions of the documents show the FBI telling the intelligence court that Page "has been collaborating and conspiring with the Russian government." The agency also told the court that "the FBI believes Page has been the subject of targeted recruitment by the Russian government." Page has denied being a Russian agent. Soviets, dummycrats-Democrats, and the Captive Soul

{ americanthinker.com } ~ Years ago, we flew into Newark airport in New Jersey after almost three years living abroad as expats -- mostly in St. Petersburg, Russia... I realize that in today’s McCarthyesque environment with Robert Mueller at the head of the new Unamerican Activities Committee, that experience could land me in solitary confinement, but back then it was an “emerging market” and we were explorers on that frontier. While it was a dark, cold, and lonely experience, it was one that I would do again in a heartbeat. It was living amongst the Russians that I got a glimpse into their soul through what I saw as “schizophrenic” eyes -- starving for products, stocked store shelves, decent food, shoes that fit, and mostly, the freedom to come and go as they please, vote as they please, and express themselves as they please without the iron fist and heavy boot of the State; and thrilled that the Soviet Empire had collapsed. While so many of them recognized the burden that now lay upon them -- to create a freer society than the one they inhabited for the last seventy-some years, and one that embraced capitalism as opposed to Marxism -- far too many others saw their new reality as a slap in their Slavic faces. After all, they were a superpower! Their man got into space first, they beat back the Nazis, they were more educated and cultured, they dominated the classical music and ballet world, cleaned up in Olympic after Olympic, and had vast natural resources that allowed them to be a nation unto itself without any need for anything from the outside world except good ideas and groundbreaking innovations and, never mind the fact that they couldn’t extract most of those resources safely from the ground or bring them to market.  Not only that, they were smarter than the stupid Americans.  These Russians were disgusted that the Americans, liberty, and capitalism had won the Cold War. They never expected to be defeated and yet, here they were on the ash heap of history.  They were resentful and fiercely nationalistic with a pride that went beyond patriotism. Why is Mueller handing off key cases?

{ washingtonexaminer.com } ~ Something has been going on with Robert Mueller's investigation of people thought to have played significant roles in the Trump-Russia affair... The special counsel, assigned to investigate "any links and/or coordination between the Russian government and individuals associated with the campaign of President Trump," has been farming out seemingly important parts of the investigation to offices outside his own. In April, Mueller referred an investigation of close Trump associate Michael Cohen to federal prosecutors in New York. This month, the U.S. attorney in Washington — not Mueller — indicted Maria Butina on charges of being an unregistered Russian agent. And also this month, when Mueller charged 12 Russian intelligence officers with hacking dummycrats-Democratic Party and liar-Clinton campaign offices, he immediately turned the case over to the Justice Department's National Security Division for prosecution. Cohen is a key figure in theories of Trump-Russia collusion. In former British spy Christopher Steele's notorious dossier, Cohen was accused of holding secret talks with Russian officials in August 2016 to discuss "how deniable cash payments were to be made to hackers who had worked in Europe under Kremlin direction against the liar-CLINTON campaign and various contingencies for covering up these operations and Moscow's secret liaison with the TRUMP team more generally." If that's not collusion, nothing is. Such activities, if they occurred, would be at the center of Mueller's jurisdiction. { washingtonexaminer.com } ~ House Judiciary Committee Chairman Bob Goodlatte, R-Va., said on Sunday that his committee will seek testimony from scumbag/commie- John Brennan... a CIA director under former President Barack liar-nObama who has become a fierce critic of President Trump. "We have lots of questions for scumbag/commie-John Brennan and he will definitely be sought by the committees for an interview," Goodlatte said during a Fox News interview on "Sunday Morning Futures" with Maria Bartiromo. "This is an extremely disturbing thing to see both he and former FBI James Comey, supposedly impartial government officials carrying out their jobs in very important areas in intelligence gathering and law enforcement, express the kind of extreme bias that they've shown now, which I think reflects quite accurately on what they were doing back in 2016." Goodlatte was responding to an opinion piece this week by the Wall Street Journal's Kimberley Strassel, which Bartiromo said made the case that scumbag/commie-Brennan "deserves a bit of belated scrutiny."...

Boston University's Fake-O-Nomics Darling

{ jewishworldreview.com } ~ It costs a pretty penny to earn a diploma in stupid.

The annual list price to attend Boston University — including tuition, fees, room and board — currently rounds out to $70,000. To acquire a degree in economics from this tony institution of higher learning, an undergrad must complete courses in calculus, microeconomic and macroeconomic analysis, empirical economics, statistics and assorted electives.

Four years, 52 credits and nearly $300,000 later, the school promises that BU economics majors will depart "with a firm understanding of core microeconomic and macroeconomic theory" and the "empirical skills that are essential to applying economic reasoning in our increasingly data-driven world."

How, then, to explain the abject economic illiteracy of meteoric media darling and dummycrats-democratic socialist "political rock star" commie-Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez? The 28-year-old BU alumna graduated with an economics and international relations degree in 2011. She calls herself a "nerd" and bragged about her academic credentials, tweeting earlier this month:

"How many other House dummycrats-Democrats have a degree in Economics like I do? Trying to find who out here is going to be in the Gini Coefficient Appreciation Squad."

The upstart New York congressional candidate has been hailed by pundits, newspapers and pols as "sharp," "smart" and "extraordinary." BU's Associate Provost and Dean of Students Kenneth Elmore gushed that commie-Ocasio-Cortez is "brilliant — she is boldly curious and always present. She makes me think and could always see multiple sides of any issue. ... I can't wait to see what happens when her time truly comes."

But when the time came to put her BU economics education to work, commie-Ocasio-Cortez flunked. On PBS last week, she asserted that "unemployment is low because everyone has two jobs." Moreover, the erudite B.A. holder in economics posited, "unemployment is low because people are working 60, 70, 80 hours a week and can barely feed their kids."

Egad. This nonsense needs more unpacking than a cross-country Mayflower moving truck.

The unemployment rate, which stands at a historically low 4 percent, is calculated by extrapolating and dividing the number of people out of work by the total number of individuals in the American work force.

If you have one job, two jobs, three jobs or more, you don't count as unemployed. Whether you are working 40 hours or 80 hours or 120 hours a week, if you're working, that has no effect on the unemployment rate, either. The number of workers moonlighting and the number of hours they moonlight have zero, zip and nada effect on the unemployment rate.

commie-Ocasio-Cortez's claim that "everyone has two jobs" is more fake-o-nomics. The Bureau of Labor Statistics reports that the number of Americans holding down multiple jobs is less than 5 percent and has been declining for nearly 30 years. Pew Research adds that both "in terms of raw numbers and as a share of all employed people, fewer Americans are working more than one job than in the mid-1990s."

As for starving children, government statistics show that hunger has dropped to its lowest levels in a decade as unemployment and food inflation have declined. Federal food stamp usage has also plunged to historic lows.

Instead of hitting the books, commie-Ocasio-Cortez appears to have spent most of her college days pounding the social justice pavement. The Boston Globe reports approvingly that she "was active at BU in organizations that empower minorities," including a stint as president of Alianza Latina, BU's largest Latin American student organization, and as a student ambassador at the Howard Thurman Center for Common Ground, "which aims to foster inclusiveness among students of all backgrounds."

Ms. Diversity/commie-ConArtista may be able to blow hot air about Gini coefficients while tweeting anti-capitalist platitudes. But the numbers don't lie. She's everything that's wrong with overpriced liberal ivory towers, radical identity politics and left-wing media ideologues pining for their next savior.
