 Cruz's Iowa Success Endangers Corn Lobby 

Could the corn lobby's stranglehold on political rhetoric be cracking? With just weeks until the Iowa caucuses, presidential candidate Ted Cruz is leading the field, polling at 31%. He's also an aggressive critic of the ethanol mandate. Known as the Renewable Fuel Standard, the mandate requires a massive amount of ethanol be used in the nation's gas supply, and it sends a very lucrative stream of money flowing to corn producers. And Iowa is the nation's largest producer of the stuff. Thus, Cruz's lead has given the corn lobby a bit of heartburn. As the Washington Examiner's Timothy Carney wrote, "If Cruz wins Iowa, especially if he wins big, it will confirm that the subsidies and mandates for ethanol are very important only to a sliver of the population (largely the lobbyists and executives of the giant agribusinesses that receive the lion's share of the benefit). ... If the ethanol lobby is a paper tiger, then the federal ethanol mandate is not long for this world."

          At the beginning of this presidential race, we saw the power the corn lobby had. In March, former candidate Scott Walker hired Liz Mair as a communications consultant but fired her hours later after the Iowa GOP machine skewered her because she wrote several tweets disparaging Iowa and how it hamstrung national policy. Reading between the lines, she was clearly referencing subsidies for ethanol. Meanwhile, the great ethanol boondoggle is an inefficient waste of food and natural resources all in the pursuit of corny science.  -The Patriot Post

 nObama Bypasses Law to Import More Foreign Workers 

Too many leftists applaud Barack nObama's use of executive orders, his selective enforcement of the law, and his application of the federal regulatory apparatus as a bludgeon to enforce his will when Congress "would not act." In short, these misnamed "liberals" approve of nObama's petulant tantrums when Republicans don't give him his way, and it's not just on guns. These tantrums and abuses of power will be nObama's legacy.

          It's painful obvious that these same leftists wouldn't have such a favorable view had George W. Bush engaged in such lawlessness as president. For example, what if Bush had issued an executive order directing the IRS not to pursue collection of capital gains taxes, or to cease auditing income earners who fall in the top 1%? What if he had directed the Border Patrol to focus on deporting Mexicans, but to ignore those trying to get into the U.S. from Cuba (Cubans tend to vote Republican)? What if he issued an EO directing the IRS to set up a mechanism whereby the Social Security taxes of American workers were directed into a private investment account of their choosing — you know, since Congress had "failed to act" on Bush's efforts at partial privatization of that bloated, bankrupt program?

          Yet because nObama shares their progressive, statist, totalitarian worldview, leftists readily embrace a powerful executive who implements his agenda by sheer force of will, regardless of the Constitution, our traditions, or the will of the people. Yet if they were intelligent they would fear such a precedent, realizing that "their guy" will not always hold the reins of power, and precedents, once set, are hard to reverse.

          One of many areas in which nObama has shown contempt for his constitutional duty to enforce the law as written is with the issue of immigration, both legal and illegal. We are all too aware of nObama's de facto implementation of the DREAM Act, or variations of it, which failed to pass through Congress even when Democrats controlled both houses. nObama has also initiated by executive fiat his DACA and DAPA programs, which not only exempt millions of illegals from deportation, but he has attempted to give them a quasi-legal status, including work permits. nObama has continually sought to do this even when facing an injunction by a federal judge.  -The Patriot Post

 Is Ted Cruz Eligible to Be President? 

If you thought the end of Barack nObama's presidency would (thankfully) mark the end of controversy of a politician's birthplace, think again. Thanks to Donald Trump, the issue has returned, though this time with a bull's eye on Ted Cruz — not coincidentally one of Trump's most formidable primary opponents.

          Cruz was born in 1970 in Canada to a U.S. citizen mother. The Constitution requires that the president be a "natural born" citizen of the United States, and Trump suggested Cruz's Canadian birthplace might imperil his presidential eligibility — or at least he suggested that other people might suggest it. Perish the thought.

           Trump claimed Cruz's birthplace was a "very precarious" issue that could be detrimental to Cruz should he cinch the nomination. "Republicans are going to have to ask themselves the question: 'Do we want a candidate who could be tied up in court for two years?' That'd be a big problem," said Trump. He added that "a lot of people are talking about it," and that he'd "hate to see something like that get in his way." Yes, we're sure he would simply hate that. But is there any validity to Trump's "concern"? In a word, no.

          The Congressional Research Service, the arm of the Library of Congress which for more than a century has been tasked with providing (allegedly) non-partisan research and legal analysis to members of Congress, has described a "natural born" citizen as one who is a citizen "at birth" or "by birth," as opposed to a "naturalized" citizen. According to the U.S. Code, those who are citizens at birth include "a person born outside the geographical limits of the United States and its outlying possessions of parents one of whom is an alien, and the other a citizen of the United States who, prior to the birth of such person, was physically present in the United States or its outlying possessions for a period or periods totaling not less than five years, at least two of which were after attaining the age of fourteen years." Cruz's mother was born and raised in Delaware and attended college in Texas, more than fulfilling this requirement.   -The Patriot Post

 nObamaCare's Impact on The Patriot Post 

In a 240-181 vote, the House passed a reconciliation bill repealing nObamaCare and defunding Planned Parenthood, sending a bill that would defund Barack nObama's signature legislation to his desk. Although this is the first time such a measure passed both chambers, Republicans in the House voted 50 times in the past to repeal nObamaCare. This bill faces certain veto, but it's still a victory for Republicans, as it forces nObama to issue a veto days before his final State of the Union Address. Rep. Steve Pearce (R-NM) told reporters, "Any time that you make someone in elected office take a stance, it's extremely valuable because the American people don't watch too much until then. So [nObama] will absolutely say, 'I refuse to understand that you as Americans are hurting because of this bill, that you're losing your jobs, some of you have been cut back to part time … many of you now have lost the insurance that you've spent decades preparing for your family, and I, as the president of the United States, am going to tell you forget it, I'm going to veto it.' I think that's extraordinarily valuable in the political circumstances."

We just completed our year-end financial review and part of that was to see, again, that our health insurance premiums increased a whopping 25% last year — and that's for a group of healthy professionals whose average age is a tick under 40. Next, the GOP must move beyond the critique of nObamaCare and work on a replacement to the health care boondoggle. {judicialwatch.org} ~ As if the country’s monstrous immigration crisis weren’t dire enough, an increasing number of illegal aliens are using fake Puerto Rican birth certificates to obtain authentic U.S. passports and driver’s licenses... Located about 1,000 miles southeast of Florida, Puerto Rico became a U.S. territory about two decades after the Caribbean island was acquired from Spain at the end of the Spanish-American war. Puerto Ricans are American citizens at birth though they don’t have the right to vote in federal elections and the island has only one non-voting representative in Congress. In recent years a record number of Puerto Ricans have left their troubled island for the U.S. and a big chunk has settled on Florida. A few months ago a study found that the island’s ongoing economic recession has led to a mass exodus not seen in more than five decades. In 2014 alone 84,000 people left Puerto Rico for the U.S. mainland, the study found. One recent news report referred to the Puerto Rican crisis as an economic exodus that could push two-thirds of its population to live in the U.S. The island has an eye-popping $73 billion debt, a collapsing healthcare system and nearly half of its population living in poverty.

The second, that fact that Hilly Clinton is running for president as the Communist Party candidate, that the Democrats are the American Communist Party is a case Dean makes quite clearly. {constitutionrising.com/} ~ Gina McCarthy is a professional obscurantist who serves as the head of the EPA and pretends to have even less of a clue than she actually does about the frauds she and her criminal syndicate are perpetrating against the American people... With plausible stupidity and ignorance comes plausible deniability and immunity from that most unlikely of outcomes to Democrat treason against the United States, accountability. She may not know much about science or at least, presents herself that way, but when it comes to rolling out mandates, dictates, and regulation packages, McCarthy is quite capable and particularly ruthless. She demonstrated her abilities in that sphere on Monday, writing in an EPA blog that she and her agency are planning a record year, after their successful abuse-filled 2015. Topping the list in 2016 will be building on the framework established in the non-ratified, non-treaty international UN global government agreement that the regime dictatorially committed the United States to in December. The fact that they circumvented Congress in defiance of the Constitution means nothing to McCarthy or any of the participants. They do as they please, with the blessing and financial approval of Mitch McCon-nell, Paul Ryan and their cast of Congressional quislings.

It is obvious he is limited in what he can do without Congress... His packed house and emotional introduction was brilliantly performed. Unfortunately, the president left out most hard details on what he actually plans to have his officials do, so the workings he leaked to Politico on New Years Eve remain unknown, but this has not stopped pundits from speculating wildly. Real details below. Politico suggested (but he did not say) gun dealers would be redefined as: anyone selling more than 25 guns in a year, in the original boxes, within a short period from acquisition, and the most dangerous suggestion, if they hold a certain unspecified-size inventory, which could affect huge numbers of Americans with collections. The current definition of a gun dealer, in place for decades, is in CFR §178.11, a regulation (not a statute) which can be changed by administrative procedure without Congress.

Britain's Largest Bank Cuts Off Islamic

{investigativeproject.org} ~ Britain's largest bank, HSBC, no longer will do business with the charity Islamic Relief UK due to worries over its alleged terror ties... The Sunday Times of London reported last weekend that the banking giant decided to cut off the Muslim charity a year ago, but the move went unreported until now. Islamic Relief UK receives millions of pounds from the British Department of International Development, the Times reported. Israel banned the charity from the West Bank in 2014, accusing it of laundering money for Hamas. The Israel Ministry for Foreign Affairs designated the group's parent organization, Islamic Relief Worldwide (IRW), as a terrorist front in 2006. "The IRW provides support and assistance to Hamas's infrastructure. The IRW's activities in Judea, Samaria and the Gaza Strip are carried out by social welfare organizations controlled and staffed by Hamas operatives. The intensive activities of these associations are designed to further Hamas's ideology among the Palestinian population," Israel's Ministry for Foreign Affairs wrote.

During the interview, Tiegen related that in spite of his warnings that Ambassador Chris Stevens was missing, the State Department still refused to let the forces engage, simply telling them to stand down in the face of a terrorist-led attack that Clinton and the nObama administration soon after tried to blame on Muslim anger over a movie trailer.

{truthrevolt.org} ~ Last  October when the Palestinians began their latest round of terrorist war against Israel, lawmakers from the Joint Arab List participated in mass anti-Israel rallies in major Arab towns.

One such rally in Nazareth in mid-October attracted some 2,500 participants. After it ended, some demonstrators started throwing rocks at Jews. The next day, MK Ayman Odeh, who heads the Joint Arab List stood on a street in Nazareth and gave a live interview to Channel 2 news. 

.

Just as the camera began filming, Nazareth Mayor Ali Salam drove down the street. Seeing Odeh, Salam stopped his car and began bellowing, “Get out of here! Enough of your interviews. Go ruin things somewhere else!” Odeh tried lamely to get the camera to stop filming. But Salam continued shouting.

“You guys ruined the city. I’m the mayor… there wasn’t even one Jew here today. Not even one! What are you being interviewed about? What are you doing to us?... You had a march, you guys torched the world. Shut up! Leave! Move it!” Salam’s outburst did not come out of nowhere. He was voicing the frustration that most Israeli Arabs feel towards their Knesset representatives who spend far more time demonizing Israel than advancing the interests of Arab Israelis inside of Israel.

According to the latest detailed survey of Arab Israelis published in November by Prof. Sami Smooha, 60 percent of Israeli Arabs do not trust their representatives in the Knesset. Two thirds of Israeli Arabs say that their Knesset representatives are not advancing their interests.

A full 80% of Israeli Arabs believe that it is the job of the Arab members of Knesset to advance their communal interests rather than concentrate on political war against Israel.

Most Israeli Arabs would probably agree that they are hurt by the political war against Israel. After all, 77% of Israeli Arabs define themselves as Israelis, 60% accept Israel as a Jewish state, and 54% believe Israeli democracy extends to them.

While Odeh’s constituents feel betrayed by him, the nObama administration apparently can’t get enough of him and his anti-Israel message.

Last month Odeh became the first Israeli Arab politician to receive an audience at the White House.

.
While in the US, Odeh was hailed as an Israeli Martin Luther King Jr. as he trampled on the civil rights of Jews. Odeh insulted the American Jewish community by refusing at the last moment to participate in a meeting with the Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations.

As the leaders of the Conference’s member organizations sat waiting for him at the Conference’s offices in New York, Odeh stood in the building’s lobby and refused to get into the elevator. Odeh, a member of Knesset who has sworn allegiance to the Jewish state, wouldn’t meet with the American Jewish leaders because the Conference offices are located on the same floor as the Jewish Agency’s offices. And the leader of the third-largest Knesset faction didn’t want to give any legitimacy to Israel’s national institutions.

In light of Odeh’s insulting bigotry, it is troubling that the nObama administration spent hundreds of thousands of taxpayer dollars to train Odeh’s political operatives and help them campaign during last year’s Knesset elections. It is similarly distressing that to elevate Odeh, the administration broke protocol and rolled out the red carpet for him, even as his own constituents attack him for effectively disenfranchising them.

It is against the backdrop of Odeh’s US-supported irredentism that Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu gave one of the most significant speeches of his career Saturday night.

.
Standing at the site of Friday’s Islamic State-like massacre in Tel Aviv, Netanyahu said that the time has come for Israeli Arabs – and their leaders – to recognize that with equal rights come equal obligations.

.
In his words, “One cannot say ‘I am an Israeli in rights and a Palestinian in obligations.’ Whoever wants to be Israeli should be an Israeli all the way, both in rights and in obligations, and the first and highest obligation is to obey the laws of the state.”

.
Netanyahu demanded that the Arab members of Knesset denounce the attack and condemned the rampant incitement against Israel that takes place in the Israeli Arab sector. He then announced that the government will be investing billions of shekels in massively strengthening law enforcement in Israeli Arab towns and villages, and will seize the tens of thousands of illegal firearms that are now held by Israeli Arabs.

Netanyahu ended his remarks by embracing the integrationist trend among Israeli Arabs.

.
In his words, “I view positively the increasing involvement in the IDF, in national service and in the overall life of the state, of the Christian, Druze and northern Bedouin communities, and within the Muslim community as well.

.
I call on all citizens of Israel, especially its Muslim citizens, to take the path of integration, coexistence and peace and not the path of incitement, hatred and fanaticism. We are all citizens of the state and are all bound to maintain it and uphold its laws.”

According to Smooha’s data, only 18.5% of Israeli Arabs support violence against Israeli Jews, and only 17% have no problem with Islamic State. But then again, when taken in absolute numbers, these numbers mean that some 250,000 Israeli Arabs do not have a problem with Islamic State and support violence against Israeli Jews.

Odeh, who opposes Israeli Arab military and national service, harshly condemned Netanyahu’s speech. He castigated the premier as “a human being that just incites.”

Of course, the problem is Odeh, not Netanyahu. In a recent interview with Army Radio, Odeh refused to condemn Palestinian stabbing attacks against Israeli Jews insisting, “I won’t define red lines for the Palestinian nation.”

It is Odeh, through his US-supported denunciation of Israel who cultivates an intellectual climate where support for IS and terrorism against Israel in general can grow, even as the vast majority of Israeli Arabs reject it. While Israeli Arabs like Mayor Salam stand helplessly on the sidelines, Odeh embraces Palestinian terrorism against Israelis. Not surprisingly, in this welcoming environment, it is hard to rein in Islamic terrorism. So it has grown.

According to data from the Shin Bet (Israel Security Agency), to date, some 150 Israeli Arabs have left the country to join Islamic State. Last year the Shin Bet reported it had broken up four Islamic State cells of Israeli Arabs. Three of the reports were from the past three months alone.

The main jump in Israeli Arab support for Israel has come in recent years, and in the face of the breakdown in the peace process between Israel and the PLO.

.
There are two main reasons for positive trend. First, since 2009, the government has invested billions of shekels in strengthening Israeli Arabs economically and integrating them into wider society. Arab income has grown nearly ten percent in the past decade.

.
The second reason for the steep rise in Israeli Arab identification with Israel owes to the rise of Islamic State and the demise of the Arab states as Syria, Libya and Iraq have disappeared and Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon, Yemen, Bahrain and Saudi Arabia teeter on the brink.

In comparison to the rest of the region, Israel Arabs rightly view their country as an island of tranquility and peace.

Netanyahu’s speech was a watershed moment in Israeli politics, because after years of pretending away the breach between popular Israeli Arab support for integration and rejection of integration – and of Israel itself – by the radicalized Israeli Arab political leadership, Netanyahu attacked it head on. In so doing, he made a direct link between the rise of Islamic State-style terrorism and Odeh’s support for Palestinian terrorism.

By demanding loyalty and pledging to apply the law equally to Arabs and Jews alike, Netanyahu put Odeh and his international supporters on notice. Israel will not allow radical Arab politicians and their radical supporters in Washington to continue to intimidate the government out of enforcing the laws of the state to all of Israel’s citizens equally.

With the support of the vast majority of Israeli Arabs, who realize that Odeh and his colleagues are endangering their future, the government will root out and destroy the jihadists and their supporters, and so ensure that Israeli remains the Jewish democracy that extends full rights to its Arab citizens it has always been.
