A NEW GOP POWER INDEX FOR A NEW PHASE OF  THE CAMPAIGN -    The Power Index has, since its inception in January, focused on a field of 10 candidates in contention for the Republican nomination. Nice round number and all that… But, as the man said, it is time to think anew and act anew.
With 12 weeks until voters start selecting a nominee, time is running out. To reflect that reality, we will narrow our focus to the top six contenders for the nomination.
This doesn’t mean that Fox News First adjudges those out of the top six to be unable to pull off an epic upset. But, as we try to estimate which candidates have the best shots at the nomination, it’s time to bore down. We’ll certainly keep an eye on those off the leader board. After all, what stories do political journalists like to tell better than miraculous comebacks?  -Fox News

WITH YOUR SECOND CUP OF COFFEE
Forty years ago today the SS Edmund Fitzgerald left Superior, Wisc., bound for Detroit with 26,000 tons of iron ore only to vanished on Lake Superior’s unforgiving November waters. As artist Gordon Lightfootdescribed in his song on the shipwreck, “The lake, it is said, never gives up her dead when the skies of November turn gloomy.” The Pioneer Press remembers search for the shipwreck: “The day after the SS Edmund Fitzgerald vanished from Lake Superior with her crew of 29 men and a full cargo of taconite pellets, the haunting aftermath was in full bloom for those involved in the search…The Naugatuck was quickly dispatched to its own section of the search grid and came upon oil slicks and wreckage from the Fitzgerald’s weather decks -- life rings and jackets, a propane tank and oars, anything that blew off the ship or would float.” The last message heard from the crew was “we are holding our own,” but there were no survivors.

WHAT COULD GO WRONG?
AP: “The Gas & Grass business opens Saturday in Colorado Springs. It is a gas station adjacent to a Native Roots medical marijuana dispensary. Colorado does not allow pot shops to sell non-marijuana products. So the gas station and pot shop will have distinct entrances. But medical marijuana patients that shop at Native Roots will get discounts on the gasoline, similar to a grocery store loyalty program. Members of the public who don’t shop at the dispensary can also fill up at the station. Native Roots plans to open a second Colorado Springs location next month.”

DEBATE NIGHT: WIN, LOSE OR DRAW
MILWAUKEE -- The fourth Republican presidential debate is done and there weren’t any earthquakes. But in the more than a month until the next contest, there will be lots to consider.
The biggest winner of all was the smaller stage. The reduction to the still-sizable eight podiums allowed for the moderators from the Fox Business Channel and the Wall Street Journal to pin down candidates on answers and delve deeper. Going forward, a return to the 10- and 11-person stages of the previous debates will be hard to imagine.
But among the candidates themselves, there were some winners, too. There were some who just about broke even and there was one loser.  -Fox News

Panel Advocates Reducing Number of U.S. Combatant Commands
{John Grady} ~ Cutting the size of staffs, from the combatant commands to the services to the Office of the Secretary of Defense (OSD)... and scaling back the number of combatant commands are ways to shape the Pentagon for future roles and missions, a panel of national security experts told the Senate Armed Services Committee Thursday. Retired Air Force Lt. Gen. David Deptula said, in answer to a question, “You can do things better with smaller staffs.” He added that also would address the risk-adverse environment in the defense bureaucracy. He specifically called for a 25 percent cut in Office of the Secretary of Defense. “Defense institutions are stuck in the last century,” said Deptula, currently dean of the Mitchell Institute for Aerospace Studies. He suggested the committee itself should reconsider how it is organized—creating separate panels for air, land, cyber and space, as it has for seapower.        http://news.usni.org/2015/11/05/panel-advocates-shirking-number-of-u-s-combatant-commands-staff-size?utm_source=USNI+News&utm_campaign=19ba590a94-USNI_NEWS_DAILY&utm_medium=email&utm_term=0_0dd4a1450b-19ba590a94-231491269&mc_cid=19ba590a94&mc_eid=3999f18767

The Disturbing Reason For The Navy’s Trident Missile Test
{Joshua Krause} ~ By now you’ve probably heard all about the strange light that was seen across the western United States and Mexico on Saturday night, as well as the Navy’s explanation for the anomaly... Apparently, the light was nothing more than a test of a Trident II missile (which is normally armed with a nuclear warhead) that was launched from a submarine in the Pacific. The only question that remains, is why did the Navy conduct their secret test at a time and place where so many people would be able to see it? Typically these tests are a quiet affair, and for a very good reason. They don’t want foreign ships to observe these launches, lest they discover some of the capabilities of the missile. So why run the test at a time of day when the conditions were absolutely perfect for millions of people to witness it? For now the Navy is playing dumb, and have claimed that they had no idea the test would create such a spectacular view. However, the spectacle seems awfully convenient given the current tensions between the US, Russia, and China. It’s also pretty convenient, given what Defense Secretary Ash Carter told the media a day before the launch.

Climate Alarmists Are in Panic Mode — Because the Public Isn't
{William F. Jasper} ~ With the start of the UN's Climate Summit in Paris only three weeks away, global warming alarmists are in a panic, but opinion polls show most people are not that concerned about the issue... Perhaps that is because more people are becoming aware that, despite the non-stop fright peddling by politicians and media commentators, there has been no measurable global warming for nearly 19 years. As we warned would happen over a year ago (“Desperate Dash of Global Warming”), the global warming alarmists are desperately amping up their shrill warnings, in the hopes of creating support for the UN agenda..At a recent speech in San Diego, California Governor Jerry Brown called global warming an “existential threat” that demanded an all-out, national effort like the World War II Manhattan Project to build the atom bomb.

U.S. to Help Iran Rebuild Nuclear Reactor
{Adam Kredo} ~ The United States and other global powers are helping Iran to update and reconstruct a nuclear reactor that has been suspected of helping the Islamic Republic produce enough material for a potential nuclear weapon... according to regional reports and statements from the State Department. The United States’ goal is to work with Iran to refit the reactor in such a way that it can no longer produce weapons grade material. However, Iran maintains that the United States and other partner nations will soon provide “advanced equipment” for the reactor, which is located near the Iranian industrial city of Arak.http://freebeacon.com/national-security/us-to-help-iran-rebuild-nuclear-reactor/

Govt. Researchers: Flu Shots Not Effective in Elderly, After All
{Sharyl Attkisson} ~ An important and definitive “mainstream” government study done nearly a decade ago got little attention because the science came down on the wrong side... It found that after decades and billions of dollars spent promoting flu shots for the elderly, the mass vaccination program did not result in saving lives. In fact, the death rate among the elderly increased substantially. The authors of the study admitted a bias going into the study. Here was the history as described to me: Public health experts long assumed flu shots were effective in the elderly. But, paradoxically, all the studies done failed to demonstrate a benefit. Instead of considering that they, the experts, could be wrong–instead of believing the scientific data–the public health experts assumed the studies were wrong. After all, flu shots have to work, right?        https://sharylattkisson.com/govt-researchers-flu-shots-not-effective-in-elderly-after-all/?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+SharylAttkisson+%28Sharyl+Attkisson%29

nObama’s “Dangerous Hands” and the Security Breakdown
{Cliff Kincaid} ~ Even when “60 Minutes” does a very worthwhile show, it still has to bow at the altar of political correctness... Hence, the program, “Into Dangerous Hands,” about flaws in the security clearance process, was itself flawed in a very strange way. Correspondent Scott Pelley danced around the issue of illegal leaker and former Army analyst Bradley/Chelsea Manning being a sexual pervert. Pelley focused on three people who had security clearances and either stole and leaked classified documents or committed mass murder. They were Manning, Edward Snowden, and Aaron Alexis. Before getting into some dramatic new information about all three of them, Pelley said, “Some believe Snowden and Manning were right to expose what they saw as government abuses —like the NSA’s domestic surveillance program.” These “some” are those who condone illegal behavior that benefits America’s enemies, such as Russia and China.

 The Mufti Loved Stalin Too
{Dr. Michael Ledeen} ~ We’ve heard a lot of late about the mufti of Jerusalem in the 1930s and 1940s, Amin al Husseini, and his efforts to forge an operational relationship between Nazi Germany and his own Muslim Brotherhood... Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu catalyzed the discussion, which has produced some useful and thoughtful contributions, but in the process an important part of the story has gone lost. It’s the part of the story that deals with Husseini’s ties to Soviet Communism. Lenin and Stalin have somehow failed to claim their rightful places at the top of the pedestal of evil; Hitler’s got it all to himself. But in the case of Husseini, and indeed of jihadism more generally, any serious discussion must make room for the Communists.  Netanyahu: US-Israel Alliance Pivotal for Future of the World
{algemeiner.com} ~ The US-Israel alliance is “pivotal for the future of world,” Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu told an audienceat the Washington, DC think tank American Enterprise Institute on Monday... Netanyahu said it was not only common ideals that bonded the two nations, but “it’s also the role, the active role of the United States in defending liberty around the world and standing by its allies — in this case, the best possible ally of the United States, Israel.” “I think it’s made a world of difference,” he said. “I’d bet on this alliance. I wouldn’t sell the United States short. I wouldn’t sell Israel short. And I would not at all diminish the importance of this alliance and I think it’s pivotal for the future of our world.”        http://www.algemeiner.com/2015/11/10/netanyahu-to-washington-think-tank-us-israel-alliance-pivotal-for-future-of-the-world-video/

 When Students Cheer Jihad
{truthrevolt.org} ~ Calling things by their right names is a prerequisite for seeing them as they really are... Last spring I spoke at more than half a dozen universities, including Ohio State and Stony Brook, where I was confronted by mobs of students cheering Hamas, a terrorist organization whose declared goal is the extermination of the Jews. And this is only the tip of the iceberg. On virtually every major university campus in America organizations exist whose leadership is dedicated to spreading the propaganda lies of Hamas designed to weaken and delegitimize the Israeli state, and promoting Hamas campaigns like Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) whose goal is its destruction. The two leading organizations in this terrorist proxy campaign are the Muslim Students Association (MSA), which poses as a cultural group but is really a recruiting tool for its founding group, the Muslim Brotherhood, and Students for Justice in Palestine (SJP), which was also created by a Brotherhood operative and takes an even more aggressive pro-terrorist role on campus defending Hamas rocket attacks on Israel and advancing its propaganda wars.       http://www.truthrevolt.org/commentary/when-students-cheer-jihad

Fifteen unknown military missions that affect Americans’ lives
{Mackenzie Eaglen} ~ The bulk of the US military’s work is devoted to keeping the peace, in activities ranging from deterring adversaries to keeping our GPS online and fighting wildfires or helping with hurricane recovery here in America... Many of these missions don’t often make headlines, but they touch our lives every day, no matter where we live in the United States. Below is a collection of highlights from our series on the US military’s contribution to everyday life.

.
{jewishworldreview.com} ~ The Palestine Liberation Organization Thursday criticized Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) over a Senate hearing on Palestinian and Iranian terrorism.
.
The Texas Republican chaired a Senate judiciary committee hearing where victims of terrorist attacks and family members described what happened to them and blasted the nObama administration, saying it has failed to prosecute terrorists.
.
In a rare, pointed statement issued from the PLO delegation to the United States, the organization said Cruz's hearing failed to include Palestinian viewpoints. The statement said there is a "growing and alarming" trend in the U.S. to "dehumanize" Palestinians.
.
"This biased and inflammatory hearing conflated all Palestinians as terrorists and failed to represent any Palestinian viewpoint in an obvious effort to defame the Palestinian people," the statement said. "Defending Israel should not come at the expense of Palestinians and for narrow political interest sought by presidential hopefuls who are appealing to pro-Israeli votes."
.
The Texas Republican went on the offensive against the PLO regarding the hearing, titled "Justice Forsaken: How the Federal Government Fails the American Victims of Iranian and Palestinian Terrorism,"
.
"It is not surprising a terrorist organization like the PLO is upset with the truths that were told at our hearing yesterday," he said, according to the Associated Press.
.
In the hearing, Cruz described recent acts of violence in Israel and past attacks, including a suicide bomber attack in Jerusalem 15 years ago where a family from New York was badly injured.
.
Cruz spoke of "Americans who have suffered greatly because of the horrific and evil actions of Iranian and Palestinian terrorists."
.
"Americans who have fought hard to endure that justice is done in these situations, only to see their own government more often than not stand against them," he said.
.
Cruz, a stalwart opponent of the Iranian nuclear deal, said it is a betrayal of those killed by terrorism. He listed instances of terrorist attacks where Iran was involved. The senator said Iran has "waged war" against U.S. troops in Iraq and that 196 U.S. service members were killed there by Iranian-made weapons.
.
"As bad as Palestinian terrorism has been, the Iranian government arguably has more American blood on its hands," Cruz said.
.
The hearing featured a number of witnesses, including the brother of Robert Stethem, a Navy diver killed by Hezbollah terrorists during the 1985 hijacking of TWA 847.
.
The PLO said that the hearing "failed to mention recent acts of Israeli incitement."
.
"It is time for Israel apologists on the hill to put US national interests ahead of those of the current extreme right wing government in Israel," the statement said. "Otherwise, Israel will continue with its destructive policies and will eventually drag the whole region into more confrontations with dire consequences for all."
.

Does the terrorist group realize what they've just done?
