Friday Top News Executive Summary
Media Editors: “President Donald Trump signed an executive order Thursday requiring U.S. colleges to protect free speech on their campuses or risk losing federal research funding,” the Associated Press reports. Trump remarked, “Even as universities have received billions and billions of dollars from taxpayers, many have become increasingly hostile to free speech and to the First Amendment. These universities have tried to restrict free thought, impose total conformity and shut down the voices of great young Americans.” He added, “We will not stand idly by to allow public institutions to violate their students’ constitutional rights. If a college or university doesn’t allow you to speak, we will not give them money. It’s very simple.”

Late last year, numerous inert bombs were dispatched by a criminal sociopath specifically earmarked for Trump critics. Yesterday, the perpetrator pleaded guilty. According to the AP, “He could get life in prison at sentencing Sept. 12 on 65 counts, including 16 counts of using a weapon of mass destruction and mailing explosives with intent to kill. In exchange for his guilty plea, prosecutors dropped a charge that carried a mandatory life sentence.”

The Big Oil renewable-energy industry is responding to the Green New Deal by trying to bring some levelheadedness to the debate. SunPower CEO Tom Werner says, “If you just broadly endorse the Green New Deal, you are liable to upset one side of the aisle or the other. And that’s not constructive.” Solar Energy Industries Association’s Dan Whitten chimed in, “We love the enthusiasm the Green New Deal has brought to the climate issue … but we need to operate in political reality.” If anything, this further highlights just how fanatical the Green New Deal is.

According to National Review, “The Republican governor of Mississippi, Phil Bryant, signed a bill Thursday banning abortions past the point in pregnancy where a fetal heartbeat can be detected.” However, “The law … is expected to face legal challenges from abortion-rights groups before July 1, when it is scheduled to go into effect. Such groups immediately blasted the bill, saying it infringes on a woman’s right to choose to obtain the procedure.” It would also face legal challenges at the federal level under a John Hickenlooper administration. This week the Democrat presidential candidate revealed, “I would make sure as president that … any state that violated a woman’s right to decide her own health care would be met with litigation immediately.”

Progress: “U.S.-backed Syrian forces were sweeping on Thursday through the final enclave that had been held by Islamic State fighters, and said they would declare the group defeated once a search for hidden mines and jihadist holdouts was complete. … The last clashes reported … were on Tuesday, indicating that major fighting is over in the last big battle of a five year international campaign against a self-proclaimed caliphate that once comprised a third of both Iraq and Syria.” (Reuters)

However, the battle will inevitably reestablish itself elsewhere: “Two U.S. service members were killed during an operation in Afghanistan on Friday, according to U.S. and NATO forces. … Friday’s deaths were the first for U.S. forces there since January. Last year, 13 American troops died while deployed there. The U.S. has held several rounds of talks with Taliban militants in an effort to reach a peace agreement to end the 17-year conflict. Both sides are in agreement about the withdrawal of U.S. forces but remain divided over a timeline and whether some American troops would remain.” (Fox News)

“The American Bar Association is warning of an ‘existential crisis’ over the unprecedented surge in the number of immigration cases clogging up courts,” according to the Washington Examiner. “In a new 176-page report that repeatedly raps the Trump administration’s policies, the ABA said that the backlog in immigration courts is over 1 million. … Without fast changes, the lawyer’s group added, the immigration court system will collapse. President Trump has sought to increase the corps of immigration court judges.” Thanks, obstructionists.

Treasury Sanctions Chinese Companies
for Illicit N. Korea Trade

{freebeacon.com} ~ The Treasury Department on Thursday imposed sanctions on two Chinese companies linked to illicit cargo transfers to North Korea in violation of U.S. and U.N. sanctions... The two companies, Dalian Haibo International Freight Co. Ltd., and Liaoning Danxing International Forwarding Co. Ltd., helped Pyongyang evade sanctions by facilitating ship-to-ship transfers of refined petroleum and other acquisitions that violate sanctions. The sanctions imposed by Treasury block U.S. companies, including banks, from doing business with the Chinese firms, a designation that prevents the companies from using the international banking system. The action was taken by the Office of Foreign Assets Control, known as OFAC. The office also announced in a related action, along with the State Department and Coast Guard, release of an updated advisory that provides new details of North Korean sanctions evasion. The advisory identified dozens of ships engaged in ship-to-ship transfers of oil products or coal with North Korean tankers and freighters. {freebeacon.com} ~ The commie-Bernie Sanders presidential campaign is violating federal election law by employing foreign nationals in advisory campaign positions... according to a newly filed complaint to the Federal Election Commission obtained exclusively by the Free Beacon. The complaint points to the employment of three individuals, including Maria Belén Sisa, an illegal immigrant from Argentina who is in the United States under the protections of DACA and has been named deputy national press secretary for commie-Bernie 2020. Sisa, who collected a salary from the commie-Bernie 2016 campaign and also made financial contributions to it, recently made headlines when she questioned whether American Jews, including her own boss commie-Sanders, were loyal to the United States. Both the work for the campaign and contributions are "direct and serious violations" of federal election law, the complaint argues. Foreign nationals are prohibited from directly or indirectly participating in the decision-making process of any person with regard to election-related activities, according to the FEC. Included in this group of foreign nationals are all immigrants not lawfully admitted as permanent residents. The complaint, filed on Thursday afternoon by the Coolidge Reagan Foundation, argues that Sisa's current position on the campaign, due to its strategic nature, is a clear violation of this prohibition. Willie Richardson: When I was growing up, my dad would put together puzzles of 500-1,000 pieces. He would have extra lighting to make sure he could see the myriad of colors and patternsin the picture on the box. He taught me how to piece a puzzle together and it all began with the borders. This was the most fundamental aspect of putting a huge puzzle together. He taught me to secure the border first so the puzzle had a frame within which to work. Yet for some odd reason, securing the borders of our country has turned into a debate when it should be a central theme to our American society.
Illegal immigration didn’t begin to be controversial with the election of President Donald Trump. It has always been on the political radar. Let me give a basic view of it. Men and women, boys and girls risk their lives to migrate to America. Hundreds of thousands at a time ride on top of trains for miles as they strap themselves on by rope. Some fall off and their legs are amputated or they plummet to their death. Others are raped (often numerous times) or harassed by gang members threatening their lives with extortion. Young girls are sex trafficked and pregnant women are looking to have their babies born as U.S. citizens. The journey to the southern border is so dangerous that many turn back, get sent back by customs, or are killed. With all these factors and others to consider, why wouldn’t our government want to secure our borders?
Even our 44th president, Barack scumbag/liar-nObama, had some very sharp comments in the spring of April 2009 about illegal immigration. He said, “This is not going to be a free ride. It’s not going to be some instant amnesty. What’s going to happen is you’re going to pay a significant fine. You are going to learn English! You are going to go to the back of the line so that you don’t get ahead of somebody who is in Mexico City applying legally. But, after you’ve done these things over a certain period of time, you can earn your citizenship.” He would go on to say, “[Americans] can’t have a situation where you just have a half a million people pouring over the border without any kind of mechanism to control it.”
Is it me or does 44 sound just like 45? Where were the protests when scumbag/liar-nObama was saying the exact same things about illegal immigration as Trump? In the State of the Union address in February 2019, President Trump said, “I want people to come into our country in the largest numbers ever, but they have to come in legally.” Why wasn’t scumbag/liar-nObama’s approach to illegal immigration taken as insensitive or intolerant? What’s the difference? Enter the Fake News media outlets.
The Left and its media outlets don’t care about illegal immigration as it relates to the fiscal or social health and security of our country, but they do have a political agenda. Some of the loyal Left voters within the Black American community are beginning to challenge the Democrat status quo, so party leaders need a new demographic to use for political gains. Without the minority vote, there is no Democrat Party. They are desperate and see illegal immigration as a numbers game. For them, the more illegal immigrants, the merrier. As the Black population of voters exits the stronghold control of the Democrat Party, the illegal immigrant Hispanic population becomes their new prey. I support immigration, but there must be parameters in place to make the transition fair to those who come legally. Besides, the safety and security of our nation depends on steps taken today by this administration. Piece by piece, our borders need to be secured first.
