Barack Obama Signs Four New Executive Orders !

Barack Obama signed four Executive Orders on Monday.  These add to the President’s growing list of Executive Orders.  They provide for an Order of Succession with the Department of Agriculture, the Office of Management and Budget, the Environmental Protection Agency, and the Department of Commerce.

These lines of succession also include changes for the Office of Personnel Management, the National Archives and the Records Administration, and the Millennium Challenge Corporation for foreign aid.

A White House official said these amounted to nothing more than basic bureaucratic housekeeping.  Lines of succession can be very detailed as you can see by clicking the links below.

The Orders and their links are as follows:

Executive Order — Providing an Order of Succession within the Department of Agriculture

Executive Order — Providing an Order of Succession within the Office of Management and Budget

Executive Order — Providing an Order of Succession within the Environmental Protection Agency

Executive Order — Providing an Order of Succession within the Department of Commerce

Thirty days after being published in the Federal Register, executive orders become law. While they do bypass the U.S. Congress and the standard legislative law making process, no part of an executive order may direct the agencies to conduct illegal or unconstitutional activities.

One thing we do know, bi-partisanship only exists in the Obama administration at the bottom of the list of succession at the National Archives, where Alan C. Lowe, the director of the George W. Bush library was added as the fourth and last in line, bumping out Jimmy Carter library Driector Jay Hakes, who, coincidentally was put in that spot by George Bush in 2006.

It appears these particular Executive Orders will not lead to Armageddon, but might be poignant in the event of a nuclear disaster.

  • To me, this looks like he's getting ready to dismiss, or expect some of his cabinet to resign or be forced to resign.  He may be planning on that to happen to take over even more Dictatorial powers.  WIth Congress mostly in his favor, they would rubber stamp his authority.  He is signing Executive Orders at an increasing rate and expect many more.  By the time he's through, even if he is defeated his Executive Orders may keep him in.
