Dr. Carson later refuted this report, issuing a statement strongly denying that his campaign had been "suspended" for a book promotion as reported by both ABC and Townhall. Townhall then "updated" their story:
UPDATE - The Carson campaign issues a quasi-denial, strongly refuting the notion that he's "suspended" his campaign, while conceding that he is actively involved in book events this month. This development mitigates some of the concerns discussed below, but the decision to maintain to book promotion schedule while running for president still raises questions of judgment and priorities.
Townhall's "update" raises some concerns as well. They can't necessarily be blamed for running with a story broken elsewhere in the media. Their mistake was clinging to doubts about Carson's "judgment" on the merits of a report aired on such a notoriously Left Wing news forum.
We expect this brand of cynicism toward Conservatives from ABC. Woe to Townhall for stepping out on such a slippery political slope.
