(The Hill) - Outgoing Texas Gov. Rick Perry (R) may be testing his message for another White House run even as he wraps up more than a decade at the helm of his state.
“Americans are looking for competent leadership. And sometimes it shows itself in ways that you could have never have dreamed of,” Perry said in an interview aired on CNN’s “The Lead” Friday evening, citing his responses to crises in the state during his tenure.
“Americans are begging for a positive view of the future, for an individual whose got a record of being able to make the future better for their families, and that’s exactly what we’ve done in Texas over the last 14 years,” Perry told CNN.
“More jobs created than any other state,” he added.
Should he enter the race, Perry would likely face a crowded GOP field, with prominent figures including Sen. Rand Paul (Ky.) and former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush also seen as likely to run.
Bush fired the first shot of 2016 by announcing early last week that the would “actively explore” a White House bid. He has since announced he would end consulting work with banking giant Barclays and step down from the board of a healthcare company.
Of course Rick Perry is correct in that statement. I would take it a step further, and say Americans desperately need competent leadership. The real question is, who is the right man or woman for the job?
Jrb Bush go awaaaaay. I'd like to hear stronger words from Perry or any other. I don't think Rand can win.
We need STRONG HONEST CONSTITUTIONALISTS not honkey mediocre cabbage heads. Not one senator has been able to halt anything the commies have done.
Honestly, not sure how much I trust Rand. He had his Sister Soldier moment and ran to the center a couple of years ago (not unlike Bill Clinton did in the 90's), and we haven't heard much of substance from him since. Perhaps I am wrong about him, but my instincts are telling me to stay away from him.

You're correct - "Not one senator has been able to halt anything the commies have done."
I believe that is because none of the Senators with the moxie to try, have ever been put into a position of leadership where their efforts can draw the needed support.
If we are going to find the leadership we seek, we need to get the spineless, milquetoast, do-nothings that are currently in the leadershp positions and put in some of those we elected to get the job done. If we don't put them in leadership positions, we will not know (in time for 2016) whether they can/will lead in the direction we want them to.
We have to force the installation of the Conservatives we put into office into the leadership positions. Neither you, nor I, with all the e-mails, phone calls, and FAX's we could generate, would have the impact needed to accomplish that!
We need the existing Conservative organizations, with their membership and their systems for generating congressional contacts to put their strength behind a campaign to put Conservative Senators and Representatives in the Republican Party leadership roles. Without that 2016 will be another 'Hold our Nose and Vote' election!
AND IT CERTAINLY IS NOT PERRY. He is as bad as Jeb Bush, if not worse. If he or bush are the candidate, I WILL NOT VOTE FOR THE FIRST TIME IN OVER 50 YEARS. PERIOD.
WAKE UP AMERICA!!!
That mentality is exactly what got Obozo elected for a 2nd term. Not voting IS voting~~for the opposition. I didn't like the choices either, but Obozo sure as hell WASN'T my choice!
We cannot NOT VOTE because of a "single issue" candidate. NOBODY is going to be 100% of what we want, but "Hilladbeast Benghazi Bloodbath Clinton" SURE AS HELL is something we don't need!! Your NOT VOTE is a vote for her!
We have about a year and a few months for an acceptable candidate to show his mettle. Just settle down and don't let emotions override your common sense!
I do not like what they have done to my beloved Army and military, either. And I want to see that degradation stopped and reversed. Clinton is NOT going to do that!
Yes we are looking for true leadership. And with this being said, John Boehner and Mitch McConnell need to go. We no longer have room in this party for leader like them. We need conservative constitutionalists to be leading and directing first our party and second our country. Liars need to be thrown out no second chances.
Agree 100% Bob Casper -
(See my response to Lyn Agre above)
We NEED MORE THEN competent leadership....! We need HONEST, ETHICAL, HONORABLE, CONSTITUTIONAL, PATRIOTIC, CHRISTIAN FOR THE PEOPLE LEADERSHIP...!! THAT IS WHAT AMERICA AND THE AMERICAN PEOPLE NEED.....!! NOT TO MENTION THE WORLD.....!!
Lynn, I would agree with the exception this is America and we have freedom of religion. I am Christian and follower of Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior. To say that we need Christian leaders this would be nice, but not going to happen. Even in the beginning not all of our leaders were Christian Judeo leaders.
So with that being said, our laws and constitution was founded on Godly principles and ideas and the need to remain that way. God needs to be the supreme leader over the land regardless of our leaders religious beliefs. We need to remain a Christian Judeo Country founded on our fore founders values, and no immigrant should ever have the right to discuss or change these guiding principles.
It is clear that Barrack and his administration need to go, and well before his remaining term is over. We need to continue to pray to God Almighty that He will send us a leader that will our country straight.
God bless you and thanks for you input. We the people need to stand firm and not give in and fight until our expectations are met.
