Hans von Spakovsky: "In news that should shock and anger Americans, U.S. Attorney General Loretta Lynch told the Senate Judiciary Committee on Wednesday that not only has she discussed internally the possibility of pursuing civil actions against so-called 'climate change deniers,' but she has 'referred it to the FBI to consider whether or not it meets the criteria for which we could take action.' ... The absurdity of this would be laughable if it were not so serious and so dangerous. The very idea that the FBI, the most powerful law enforcement agency in the United States, has had a referral from the attorney general of the United State to investigate whether those who disagree with the climate change theory meet the legal 'criteria for which' the Justice Department 'could take action' is evocative of Franz Kafka's chilling novel, 'The Trial.' As I have noted before, this is also reminiscent of the old Soviet Union, where Joseph Stalin persecuted those whom he thought had the 'wrong' scientific views on everything from linguistics to physics. Both Lynch and Whitehouse might want to read Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn's book, 'In the First Circle,' in which he outlined the Soviet government's suppression of dissenting scientists and engineers. Or perhaps General Lynch should review the Inquisition's persecution of Galileo Galilei for disagreeing with the consensus of his time and advocating the Copernican theory of the universe. Level-headed, objective prosecutors should not be interested in investigating or prosecuting anyone over a scientific theory that is the subject of great debate."  -The Patriot Post

Intelligence agencies issued the assessment last week warning that threatening rhetoric from Pyongyang in response to large-scale U.S.-South Korean military exercises and new U.N. sanctions had reached the highest level in years. {rickwells.us} ~ Hilly Clinton says she’s “The only candidate which has a policy about how to bring economic opportunity using clean, renewable energy as the key into coal country.” How will it happen?... First, she’ll let the EPA, Congress and the Supreme Court finish killing the coal industry and put thousands of coal miners out of work while simultaneously eliminating sources of revenue and an industrial engine. At that point government takes over, providing training, subsidies, grants, and loans for the new, years away from operational “renewable” energy grid. Those expenses fall to the American taxpayer as well as the unemployment benefits, welfare and other assistance that the formerly hardworking, productive citizens will attempt to get by on. If they are lucky, one of the rare “renewable energy” jobs will come to a former miner; if not, a future of depending upon government handouts is theirs. Clinton pats herself on the back and smiles with her co-villain on stage, a guy named Tim, as she brags about putting “a lot of coal miners and a lot of coal companies out of business.” But don’t worry, future unemployed coal miners of America, Hilly Clinton says she “is going to make it clear that she doesn’t want to forget ‘those people.’” She’s not saying she won’t forget them; she’s just making it clear she doesn’t want to. We all do things we don’t want to do from time to time; too bad for them, eh Hilly? {aim.org} ~ The Islamic jihad against Christendom started before anyone ever heard of a Crusade... In an earlier column in these pages, “Reforming Islam,” I documented the need for Islam to experience an internal reformation. This is not just a question of abstract theology but directly relates to how we defeat Islamic terrorism, and how we are viewed in the Muslim world. For example, ISIS, the foremost terror threat in the world today, in its claim of responsibility for last year’s Paris attack condemned America and its allies as “crusader nations.” Osama bin Laden did likewise. Bin Laden railed against “Crusaders and U.N.” when President Bush used the “C-word” after 9/11. He was widely criticized for it and dropped it. Use of “Crusades” and “Crusaders” as terms of abuse is clearly meant to stir up Muslim masses that they are under assault, not that we are defending ourselves against jihad. Perhaps more importantly, it is designed to evoke feelings of culpability and defeatism among guilty Western liberals, who are ashamed of Western civilization and indifferent at best to its survival. {rickwells.us} ~ John hanoi-Kerry brought his manure spreader to a meeting in Paris with the new French Foreign Minister as well as diplomats from Britain, Germany and Italy... hanoi-Kerry gave a speech in which cited the Syrian civil war as being the cause of the Islamic invasion of Europe, although most of the “refugees” are economic and not Syrian. Lying is what the nObama regime and apparently their European counterparts are joining with them in telling this tall tale. It’s particularly important for Germany but France as well to sell the lie. They don’t want to be accused of ruining their countries without a good reason. nObama and hanoi-Kerry have been insistent that Assad must go for a long time, since shortly after they drew the pink line in the sand over chemical weapons and Russia joined in helping them make a laughing stock of themselves. They’ve learned a lot from their failure in installing the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt and their rousing success in Libya, the Islamic paradise. Building on that Libyan model, they’re aggressively working against the clock to accomplish their regime change before leaving office. Assad must surrender; he’ll get the same protections they gave Gaddafi, no reason to cling to power. hanoi-Kerry addressed the audience, telling them how strongly he supports the efforts of their UN puppets, saying there isn’t a person standing there who doesn’t understand how difficult the process is. Difficult does not necessarily equate with justified or proper. hanoi-Kerry sounds miffed at the arrogance of the Foreign Minister of Syria. He was “clearly trying to disrupt the process” of the overtaking of their country by a cabal of Western nations in conjunction with their terrorist “freedom fighter” allies. How did we get to a place where slump-Trump’s rhetoric and behavior is not only accepted, but emulated? Donald slump-Trump is a master manipulator. He came on the scene as a single issue candidate, with no other discernible positions. This was a necessity, because it allowed voters to fill in the rest with their own magic markers; the needs and ideas of millions of voters built Donald slump-Trump from scratch. That’s why attributing any coherent policy position to the man is like trying to nail jello to a wall. Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office investigators, however, are now eying possible charges against slump-Trump, WRAL-5 reported Monday. slump-Trump’s rallies have been a magnet for Black Lives Matters supporters and illegal immigration activists for months. Activists typically scream at the Republican’s supporters until they are taken away by authorities. I’ve long felt it should be taught alongside astrology or some related field... In any event, the continent sized Petri dish which is the American jobs market has been the subject of much speculation since the Fight for Fifteen muscled its way into the presidential campaign debate. It’s a very populist position which the Democrats have been riding like rocket. At the same time, people who actually study such matters have been warning that it would backfire spectacularly, particularly if it was implemented in a rush. Job availability is subject to the same laws of supply and demand as anything else, and jacking up wages almost always has to result in fewer jobs. Last year I published a piece which summarized the findings of a number of analysts who had come to that conclusion and drew considerable flack for it. Liberals weren’t interested, however. Jeffrey Goldberg’s fascinating article reveals that this is a considerable understatement. The president seems to think he is the smartest person in the world, perhaps ever. Power corrupts in subtle ways. It appears to have made nObama arrogant. As described in Goldberg’s story, he is impatient to the point of rudeness with members of his own administration. His response to Secretary of State John hanoi-Kerry when he hands him a paper on Syria is: “Oh, another proposal?” “Samantha, enough,” he snaps at the U.S. ambassador to the United Nations. “I’ve already read your book.” We learn, too, that he “secretly disdains … the Washington foreign-policy establishment.” The president is also bluntly critical of traditional American allies. He is said to have told Prime Minister David Cameron that Britain “would no longer be able to claim a ‘special relationship’ with the United States” if it did not “pay its fair share” by increasing defense spending. Hilly Emails Betrayed Whereabouts of Murdered Ambassador Chris Stevens

{breitbart.com} ~ An email containing the whereabouts and plans of murdered U.S. Ambassador Chris Stevens passed through Hilly Clinton’s private server, dispatches released Monday in the final group of messages from Clinton’s emails reveal.

The email was actually first released last May but was contained in Monday’s batch as well, serving as a reminder that numerous emails sent to Clinton’s private address betrayed Stevens’ location while he was stationed in arguably one of the most dangerous zones in the world for an American diplomat.

The email in question was written Sunday, April 10, 2011 by State employee Timmy Davis and sent to the State email addresses of other employees, including Clinton’s then-foreign policy aide, Jacob Sullivan and Clinton’s senior aide.

Abedin forwarded the message to Clinton. At the time, Stevens was the U.S. envoy to the Libyan rebels.

The dispatch read:

The situation in Ajdabiyah has worsened to the point where Stevens is considering departure from Benghazi. The envoy’s delegation is currently doing a phased checkout paying the hotel bills, moving some comms to the boat, etc. He will monitor the situation to see if it deteriorates further, but no decision has been made on departure. He will wait 2-3 more hours, then revisit the decision on departure.

The email is one of several giving away Stevens’ location and movements.

A March 27, 2011 email released last year was titled, “Chris Stevens mission.” It divulged: “The current game plan is for Mr. Stevens to move no later than Wednesday from Malta to Benghazi. He will stage offshore initially for a one day visit during which he will have meetings with TNC interlocutors and get a sense of the situation on the ground. The goal of this one day trip is for him to lay the groundwork for a stay of up to 30 days.”

An April 8, 2011 email was forwarded to Clinton revealing the “security situation in Benghazi remains quiet. Chris Stevens & team are in the hotel, moving only for meetings as required.”

An April 22, 2011 email revealed Stevens was on the road: “I want to let you know about a temporary rotation in Benghazi. TNC Envoy Chris Stevens has been on the road since March 13, when he began his outreach mission, and has been in Benghazi since April 5.”

An April 24, 2011 email has the exact time of a Stevens meeting: “”Stevens will be meeting with MFA in one hour and will make a written request for better security at the hotel and for better security-related coordination. He still feels comfortable in the hotel. They are looking into the idea of moving into a villa,but that is some way off.”
