{ } ~ The Cambridge professor who assisted the FBI in the Russia investigation apparently has significant ties to the Russian government along with sources connected directly to President Vladimir Putin... leading a Defense Department whistleblower to conclude that the entire Russia-Trump collusion probe was a “set-up.” Investigative reporter Sara Carter reported that information provided by the whistleblower, Adam Lovinger, documents Stefan Halper’s work with the CIA and with the FBI’s “CrossFire Hurricane” investigation into Trump’s 2016 presidential campaign. Halper, it turns out, was directly involved on the FBI’s behalf with three key targets of Robert Mueller’s special counsel investigation: Trump campaign volunteers Carter Page and George Papadopoulos, and campaign foreign policy adviser and later national security adviser Lt. Gen. Michael Flynn. The Pentagon suspended Lovinger’s top-secret security clearance May 1, 2017, after he exposed through an internal review the government’s payment of about $1 million in taxpayer funds to Halper to write Defense Department foreign policy reports. Lovinger’s lawyer, Sean Bigley, said his client’s security clearance was eventually revoked in March 2018, despite the Pentagon “refusing to turn over a single page of its purported evidence of Lovinger’s wrongdoing.”...
Martha McSally pulls away to take home Arizona GOP Senate nod

{ } ~ Rep. Martha McSally won a resounding victory in Tuesday's Arizona Senate Republican primary, defeating former state Sen. Kelli Ward and former Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio... McSally took home the win after pulling away from Ward over the final weeks of the primary campaign. In the closing stretch, McSally bashed Ward in a TV ad for past statements on President Trump and immigration before subsequently taking aim at likely dummycrats-Democratic nominee Kyrsten Sinema less than a week before election day. Ahead of Tuesday, McSally  also projected her confidence by laying low on Sunday and Monday, deciding against holding campaign events as Ward barnstormed the state for the final days on a bus tour headlined by conservative commentator Tomi Lahren and Mike Cernovich, a well-known propagator of conspiracy theories. She also received a boost in the form of the final public poll by ABC 15/OH Predictive Insights that showed her leading by 20 points — up from the 8-point lead she held in July. The Tucson-based congresswoman's victory also is a boon for national Republicans in their quest to keep the Senate in GOP control. A loss to Ward would have all but ruled out Republicans keeping the seat occupied by Sen. Jeff Flake, R-Ariz. Since losing in Alabama last year, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., and his allies have pushed almost all of their preferred candidates through primaries and into November. "I had some painful experiences with that," said Sen. John Cornyn, R-Texas, referring to his chairmanship of the National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC) from 2007-11...
‘Green’ California Is More Reliant On Foreign Oil Than Ever Before

{ } ~ There’s a growing call for California Gov. Jerry Brown to stop issuing oil and natural gas leases in the state... with some even arguing that all state fossil fuel production should be shuttered. Yet continuing the current trend of dwindling in-state crude production wouldn’t mean California stops using oil. The state, ranked as one of the “greenest” in the country, would still use lots of oil, it would just come from other countries. In fact, more than 56 percent of the crude oil received by California  refineries were extracted in foreign countries, according to California Energy Commission data. California, once the third-largest oil state, is now more reliant than ever on foreign oil. The biggest share of California’s oil imports come from Saudi Arabia, which makes up 29 percent of foreign crude flowing into the state. More than 70 percent of foreign oil imports to the state come from OPEC members, including Iraq, Kuwait and Ecuador. Decades of state policies restricting drilling played a role, as did declining production in Alaska. The state legislature also completely banned new offshore drilling leases in 1994, decades after the massive Santa Barbara oil spill. Geological factors also make it expensive to pump out crude compared to other states...
Should It Be Illegal for Prosecutors to "Flip" Witnesses?

{ } ~ Recently President Trump said that "flipping" a witness to incriminate a prosecutorial target "almost ought to be outlawed," saying that individuals who flip are often untruthful... This statement raises the important question of whether it should be illegal to offer a witness a valuable consideration for providing testimony, as prosecutors allegedly did with Lt. Gen. Michael T. Flynn. Interestingly, it is already illegal for a lawyer to do that -- if the lawyer is a defense attorney. If any defense attorney offers a witness an inducement to testify favorably to his client -- even if his testimony is 100% truthful -- that lawyer will be disbarred, prosecuted and imprisoned. But it is perfectly legal, indeed widely regarded as commendable, for prosecutors to offer major inducements in order to get witnesses to testify against their targets. These inducements include money, freedom from imprisonment and even life itself. There are cases in which courts have allowed prosecutors to pay witness's contingent fees -- that is, bonuses -- if their testimony results in convictions. There are cases in which prosecutors have threatened to seek the death penalty unless a witness flips against a co-defendant. There are cases in which prosecutors threaten to prosecute wives, children, parents and siblings of witnesses unless they flip, to offer 10- or 20-year reductions in sentences in exchange for favorable testimony...

{ } ~ Whenever a clash occurs between a sad handful of neo-Nazis and their supposedly “anti-fascist” opponents in black... as in the Unite the Right 2 rally in Washington, D.C., on August 11—conservatives brace for the usual spin from CNN, NBC, and the New York Times. The narrative is predictable at this point: right-wing white nationalists pervade America and trigger violence against heroic “Antifa” social justice warriors. President Trump was quick to tweet out his opposition to “all types of racism” and “senseless death and division” ahead of the rally, calling for “peace to ALL Americans.” The President’s tweet came in recognition of the anniversary of last year’s demonstration in Charlottesville, Virginia, when a small rally held in the city by white supremacists devolved into a riot as the demonstrators and Antifa activists came to blows. The ensuing riots led to the horrific murder of one counter-protester, Heather Heyer, and dozens of non-fatal injuries as the extremists clashed. This time around, the District of Columbia police managed to prevent violence by keeping the two groups separated. But denouncing violence and hatred wasn’t enough for many on the Left. The New York Times was quick to accuse President Trump of “drawing a moral equivalence between hate groups” gathering in the national capital. “By declining to name the aggressors,”  wrote the Atlantic, “Trump places the ralliers on an even footing with those who came out to oppose them Antifa.” According to the leftist website Vox, that’s because “Donald Trump seems fine with Nazis gathering on his lawn” outside the White House...

The Left's Long War on Conservative Free Speech
by Michelle Malkin

{ } ~ In the competition of ideas, you can't win the game if you're not on the playing field.

That's why Silicon Valley bigwigs' stubborn refusal to put business above their own personal partisan biases doesn't just rankle. It reeks. Equal access to social media is not just about sharing food pics, pet videos, makeup tutorials and travelogues. It's about ensuring the ability to disseminate and distribute political speech on the world's biggest platforms.

Although I started in the metro newspaper industry in 1992, my years as an independent conservative blogger and internet entrepreneur have been the most journalistically enriching. I launched my first website in 1999, my namesake blog in 2004, my first group blog and video content platform and my YouTube channel in 2006 (where I broadcast reports from Iraq), my Twitter account in 2008, my second group website in 2012, and my documentary-style web series, "Michelle Malkin Investigates," for in 2016.

I don't just preach the First Amendment. I practice it for a living.

Early adopter status was important for us non-leftists who saw the disruptive influence and narrative-setting opportunities that new media and social media offered. I was ridiculed by mainstream media colleagues for wasting time on the internet, derided as "just a blogger" which I proudly turned into a hashtag, and mocked for starting a Twitter aggregation business long before corporate media outlets copied the idea.

Over the years, I've joined other independent conservative social media users in exposing coordinated "flag-spamming" campaigns against right-wing personalities and causes. Pro-life, pro-border security and anti-jihadist journalists and activists have all been selectively gagged on Google/YouTube, Facebook and Twitter. I've worked with a few good-faith employees at these companies who tried to treat conservatives fairly. But in the unhinged era of the anti-Trump resistance, intermittent purges, "accidental" suspensions and suspicious deletions of conservative content have spiked to a level of systemic censorship.

Twelve years after its founding, Twitter has abandoned its corporate motto of "Defend and respect the user's voice." Twitter co-founder Jack Dorsey, set to testify before Congress in two weeks, admitted his company's left-wing bias and dismissed revelations from his own engineers, who confided to undercover Project Veritas journalists that they were creating algorithms to "ban a way of talking," "down rank" users based on politics and employ "machine learning" to create special triggers and keywords — "the majority of which are for Republicans."

In April, the brilliant anti-leftist street artist Sabo disappeared from Twitter without warning or explanation.

My friend and colleague Gavin McInnes was silenced on Twitter recently for absolutely no good reason and remains suspended.

Prager University, with whom I collaborated on a new video about immigration and border security, has been suppressed on Facebook and it's clear it was no accidental glitch. One of the videos yanked was conservative millennial vlogger and host Allie Stuckey's piece called "Make Men Masculine Again."

Author and philosopher Stefan Molyneux, whose video podcasts have 250 million views, was also silenced by speech suppressors on YouTube, which arbitrarily issued community guideline violation strikes against him for videos including an interview with British journalist Katie Hopkins and a discussion on the Death of White Males.

My friend and conservative social media guru Nick Short, of the Security Studies Group, was one of thousands of conservative activists who discovered they've been throttled by Twitter's use of a "complex and opaque Quality Filter algorithm that has the effect of disproportionately restricting the voices of conservatives under the guise of limiting harmful or abusive users."

Same as it ever was. For three decades, the far-left has waged continuous war on conservative free speech in every available space.

They have organized militant boycott campaigns against the right's most effective advocates on talk radio — including Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, Michael Savage and Laura Ingraham. They pressured advertisers to withdraw from Dr. Laura Schlessinger's national TV show when she was at the height of her popularity and mainstream commercial success.

dummycrats-Democrats have exploited national tragedies from the Oklahoma City bombing to the Tucson massacre to try to regulate lawful, peaceful conservative free speech and enact an Orwellian Fairness Doctrine under the guise of decency, diversity and equality.

The "new" war on conservatives on the internet is the same old attempt by desperate liberals to shut down their competitors in the marketplace of ideas. If you can't beat 'em, deplatform 'em. That's the progressive way.

The right-wing solution is not to lie down, but to win over more converts, find new ways to disseminate our news and views, and turn up the heat. I've been doing it for 25-plus years and have no intention on cooling off, giving in or shutting up. Speak for those who have no voice. Support those speaking for you.

And one last action item: Remember this in November. The ballot box is one of the mightiest platforms we have. Use it or lose it.
