Democrats Are Watering Down
Impeachment into a Mere Recall Effort

{ americanthinker.com } ~ Days before Donald Trump was to be sworn in as the 45th president of the United States, Representative scumbag/mad-Maxine Waters called for him to be impeached for dubbing his opponent, "Crooked scumbag/liar-Hillary" during his campaign... Since name-calling doesn't qualify as high crimes or misdemeanors, the impeachment call fizzled, seen as another crazy scumbag/mad-Maxine rant. That was a mistake. Just 19 minutes after President Trump was sworn in, the Washington Post announced, "The Campaign to Impeach President Trump Has Begun," this time for being rich. Every day since, networks breathlessly report new impeachment calls for tweeting, for unspoken words, for being an "inciter" of "hatred." There are 98 reasons to date. In fact, the term "impeach" has been so overused that it's losing its authority. It is seen no longer as a pivotal event in our country's history, but rather just as another political battle. The Left has effectively recast impeachment as a recall. In a recall, a public official may be removed from office before his term expires, often for any reason or no reason at all. Conversely, the Constitution specifies that impeachment is only for treason, Bribery, or other high Crimes and Misdemeanors. Now, I know the Constitution wasn't written for uneducated rubes like me. One needs a law degree, political office, or a spot on cable TV to be qualified to interpret the "real" meaning of the Constitution. Nevertheless, I'll weigh in. Note the wording: impeachment for "Treason, Bribery, or other high Crimes and Misdemeanors." Thus, evidence of one of the aforementioned conditions legal jargon inserted for credentialing must exist to trigger impeachment — in other words, evidence of a crime before, not after the impeachment process. But lack of cause is not an issue because, as Gerald Ford posited, "an impeachable offense is whatever a majority of the House of Representatives considers it to be at a given moment in history." No, Gerald, impeachment is a constitutional tool to remove a president who behaves in a manner deleterious to public welfare, not to remove a political enemy. "The Framers meant for the phrase 'high crimes and misdemeanors' to signify only conduct that seriously harms the public and seriously compromises the officer's ability to continue. If the phrase is given a less rigorous interpretation, it could allow Congress to influence and control the President and the courts." —Neil J. Kinkopf Oh, so serious. Don't these constitutional scholars know that Congress is like a grand jury, can impeach a ham sandwich should it so desire? But this impeachment sham is serious, deadly serious. { dailywire.com } ~ George Washington University law professor Jonathan Turley has been “highly critical” of President Trump and has consistently voted for Democratic presidents... but he has a strong warning for the House Judiciary Committee on the first day of its impeachment hearings: While President Trump’s July 25 phone call with his Ukrainian counterpart was “anything but perfect,” the Democrats have simply failed to obtain the adequate evidence to make a case for such a serious action as removing the sitting president of the United States. To push this impeachment forward, Turley warns, is “dangerous.” The four impeachment witnesses for the Judiciary Committee-led hearing Wednesday are all law professors, and three of them, selected by Democrats, are expected to heartily endorse the Democrats’ impeachment effort. Only the lone Republican-selected witness allowed by the Democrats to testify Wednesday, Turley — a self-described Trump critic and Democratic voter — will push back agains the Democrats’ impeachment campaign. The impeachment “is not wrong because President Trump is right,” says Turley in his 53-page opening statement. While Trump’s famous call with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky was “anything but perfect,” Turley argues, and a case for impeachment “could be made,” “it cannot be made on this record,” as all of the evidence has been second-hand at best. After explaining that he’s been “highly critical of President Trump, his policies, and his rhetoric, in dozens of columns,” and voted against him in the 2016 election — and for both scumbag/liar-Bill Clinton and Barack scumbag/liar-nObama before that — Turley makes the case that what the Democrats are doing by pushing forward with the partisan impeachment of Trump is actually “dangerous”: I would like to start, perhaps incongruously, with a statement of three irrelevant facts. First, I am not a supporter of President Trump. I voted against him in 2016 and I have previously voted for Presidents scumbag/liar-Clinton and scumbag/liar-nObama. Second, I have been highly critical of President Trump, his policies, and his rhetoric, in dozens of columns. Third, I have repeatedly criticized his raising of the investigation of the Hunter Biden matter with the Ukrainian president. These points are not meant to curry favor or approval. Rather they are meant to drive home a simple point: one can oppose President Trump’s policies or actions but still conclude that the current legal case for impeachment is not just woefully inadequate, but in some respects, dangerous, as the basis for the impeachment of an American president. To put it simply, I hold no brief for President Trump. My personal and political views of President Trump, however, are irrelevant to my impeachment testimony, as they should be to your impeachment vote. Today, my only concern is the integrity and coherence of the constitutional standard and process of impeachment. President Trump will not be our last president and what we leave in the wake of this scandal will shape our democracy for generations to come. I am concerned about lowering impeachment standards to fit a paucity of evidence and an abundance of anger. If the House proceeds solely on the Ukrainian allegations, this impeachment would stand out among modern impeachments as the shortest proceeding, with the thinnest evidentiary record, and the narrowest grounds ever used to impeach a president. That does not bode well for future presidents who are working in a country often sharply and, at times, bitterly divided....

Asked about the video during a bilateral meeting with German Chancellor Angela Merkel, Trump said of Trudeau, “he’s two-faced.” Trump then abruptly canceled a planned news conference with reporters in London. "When today’s meetings are over, I will be heading back to Washington," Trump tweeted. "We won’t be doing a press conference at the close of NATO because we did so many over the past two days. Safe travels to all!" In a video shared by the Canadian Broadcasting Company (CBC), Trudeau, British Prime Minister Boris Johnson, and French President Emmanuel Macron are seen with others, including Princess Anne, having a conversation at a reception at the Buckingham Palace about a press conference earlier in the day. Trump had made an impromptu conference and weighed in on the ongoing impeachment inquiry as well as the fiery exchange he had with Macron over France not taking back any ISIS fighters. "Is that why you were late?" Boris smirked to Macron. "He was late because he takes a 40-minute press conference off the top — 'Oh, ya, ya ya,'" Trudeau said, later adding, "You just watched his team's jaws drop to the floor." The video went viral on social media, many assuming the world leaders were talking about Trump. Additionally, scumbag/liar-Schiff and Democrats obtained phone records for President Trump’s personal attorney Rudy Giuliani and investigative reporter John Solomon. How is this constitutional? It sounds like a serious violation of the President’s civil rights, the civil rights of Giuliani, Solomon, and Harvey, and it’s an abuse of power. This is really outrageous and worthy of a KGB. Why aren’t the Republicans or Attorney General Bill Barr intervening? This is insane. scumbag/liar-Schiff won’t say how he got these records. Call this scumbag/liar-Schiff character into a hearing and demand that he explain where he obtained these private records. scumbag/liar-Adam Schiff is trying to say these phone records prove Nunes is colluding with the President. Thomas Gallatin: As the Democrats’ effort to convince the country that President Donald Trump deserves to be impeached falters and is on the verge of backfiring, House Speaker liar-Nancy Pelosi decided it was time to change the subject. So, with a delegation of House Democrats in tow, liar-Pelosi jetted off to the UN’s latest climate summit, known as COP25, in Madrid, Spain. She declared that, despite the fact that Trump initiated our official withdrawal from the dubious 2015 Paris Agreement, the U.S. is “still in.” liar-Pelosi asserted, “By coming here we want to say to everyone we are still in. The United States is still in. Our delegation is here to send a message that Congress’s commitment to take action on the climate crisis is ironclad.”
The Democrats’ favorite boogieman is “climate change,” but they clearly don’t believe it’s real based upon their behavior and proposed “solutions.” Nevertheless, they love to ring the alarm bells, virtue signaling their “commitment” to “save the planet.” Of course, as we have repeatedly noted, the solutions Democrats offer would do nothing to mitigate climate change and in fact would cause greater local ecological damage, while at the same time destroying the American economy — which is their real agenda.
The reality is that since 2007, CO2 emissions have fallen in the U.S. by 14%, thanks in large part to the natural-gas boom from shale fracking, which the ecofascists and Vladimir Putin want to shut down. Furthermore, as of 2017, America’s emissions were 5% lower than in 1990, despite a population increase of at least 75 million. And a majority of Americans recognize that the climate alarmists’ proposed solutions would only lead to less freedom and more government interference in their lives, followed by more suffering. They simply aren’t buying the Democrats’ “solution.”
Hence the climate alarmists’ push to rebrand “climate change” into something that sounds much more dire and imminent. “Global meltdown” or “global melting” are a couple of terms proposed by climate activist Aaron Hall. He explains, “After the global climate strike this past September, I found myself thinking about the terms ‘climate change’ and ‘global warming.’ Are these scientific terms too neutral? Do they do enough to grab attention and inspire people to take action?” While his proposed alternative terms sound silly, liar-Pelosi has clearly bought into the concept, as she emphasized that climate change was a “crisis.” In fact, the term “climate crisis” has increasingly gained traction with the mainstream media. And former Secretary of State hanoi-John Kerry continues the half-century leftist obsession with treating domestic concerns as warfare, insisting, “We’ve got to treat this like a war.”
The truth is, the Democrats’ problem isn’t with “climate change” or whatever new alarmist term they adopt; it’s with capitalism. This is demonstrated by their continual refusal to praise and recognize the American free-market economy as the most effective means of producing practical solutions to tackle the challenges caused by climate change, all while they turn a blind eye to the planet’s largest polluter, communist China. ~The Patriot Post
