RNC sue California over state’s
new law targeting Trump’s tax returns
by personalliberty.com ~ President Donald Trump and the Republican National Committee on Tuesday filed lawsuits against California’s new law... that would require presidential candidates to submit five years of tax returns in order to be placed on the state primary ballot. Called the California Presidential Tax Transparency and Accountability Act, the law was seen as a direct shot at Trump’s reelection bid. California’s legislature passed a similar bill last year but it was vetoed by then-Governor Jerry Brown, who believed it would run afoul of the Constitution. According to the suits, the law would suppress the votes of millions of Californians who want to vote for Trump by adding a requirement for presidential candidates, as NewLanes.com reports. “The issue of whether the President should release his federal tax returns was litigated in the 2016 election and the American people spoke,” Jay Sekulow, an attorney for Trump, said in a written statement. “The effort to deny California voters the opportunity to cast a ballot for President Trump in 2020 will clearly fail.” Trump has refused to follow precedent of presidential candidates who for the last 30+ years have released their tax returns during their campaigns. Trump has repeatedly claimed he would release them once he was no longer be audited by the IRS. The two lawsuits – one by Trump and one by the RNC – follow a suit filed Monday by Judicial Watch on behalf of four voters. Another was filed last week by Roque “Rocky” De La Fuente, a California businessman who has run several low-profile campaigns for president.

According to the lawsuit Strzok is claiming his first amendment right to free speech was violated and his fifth amendment right to due process was violated. Upon initial review, this lawsuit looks like a stunt; motive undetermined, but perhaps related to the pending release of the IG report on FISA abuse where Strzok was a key participant. A federal civil lawsuit using the DC circuit and the U.S. Constitution as a primary protective assertion does not follow the path of a serious claim for wrongful firing or termination of employment. Traditionally, and with a genuine claim, wrongful termination actions would go through a formal complaint and review process within the U.S. Department of Labor. Hiring a lawyer and filing a federal civil lawsuit claiming disingenuous constitutional rights violations reeks of an ulterior motive for publicity; ie. purposeful political value in alignment with Strzock’s allies in Lawfare. Wage Hike in NY: ‘They’re Shutting Down’

{ ijr.com } ~ Some small businesses in New York City are struggling to meet the demands that come with the city raising the minimum wage to $15 an hour... According to a report published Monday by the Wall Street Journal, many business leaders and owners in the Big Apple have said that they are having to cut hours, raise prices, and reduce staff in their businesses due to the rising labor costs that they say come from the recent city law bumping up the minimum wage. The owner of Lido Restaurant in the Harlem borough of the city, Susannah Koteen, has nearly 40 people working for her restaurant and is worried what the rising minimum wage could do to her business. While she has not had to reduce her staff, she has had to be more careful about overtime and pull back on some people’s shifts. “What it really forces you to do is make sure that nobody works more than 40 hours,” Koteen said. “You can only cut back so many people before the service starts to suffer.” Sarah McNally — who owns the local bookstore chain McNally Jackson Books, which employs 75 people at its four locations in New York City — said that there is “absolutely no benefit” to operating a retail business in the city, and is working to open two more stores to stay profitable. She has not had to reduce hours or employment to deal with the pay increase, though. “With raising minimum wage to living wage, it feels now like we’re at the bottom of the pay spectrum,” McNally said. “There’s absolutely no benefit to being a retail business in New York.”....

Maryland Aims to Dismiss Suit
Challenging its Anti-BDS Rule

Larry Hogan's 2017 executive order barring state contractors from participating in the anti-Israel Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement is in the hands of a federal judge... The order violates First Amendment rights, a lawsuit filed by a former Maryland state legislator claims. Saqib Ali is represented by the Council on American Islamic Relations (CAIR) Legal Defense Fund. Hogan and the state's Attorney General Brian Frosh are listed as defendants. U.S. District Judge Catherine C. Blake heard arguments last week concerning a state motion to dismiss the lawsuit. The international BDS movement aims to isolate Israel through economic, cultural and academic boycotts and sanctions modeled on the 1980s boycotts against South Africa's apartheid government. Opponents consider the movement anti-Semitic because it singles out the world's only Jewish state for treatment not imposed on other states with much worse human rights records, and because it is reminiscent of the Nazis' economic warfare against Jewish-owned companies. Opponents also note the link between the BDS National Committee, which coordinates the movement internationally, and Palestinian terror groups such as the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP). Last month, the U.S. House voted 298-17 on a resolution condemning BDS for "encouraging the Palestinians to reject negotiations in favor of international pressure" and citing BDS leader Omar Barghouti's statement that, "We oppose a Jewish state in any part of Palestine. No Palestinian, rational Palestinian, not a sell-out Palestinian, will ever accept a Jewish state in Palestine." BDS "does not recognize, and many of its supporters explicitly deny, the right of the Jewish people to national self-determination," the resolution said....

{ jpost.com } ~ The Shin Bet (Israel Security Agency) thwarted a major Hamas terrorist attack in Jerusalem... after an explosive charge ready for use and laboratory were uncovered in Hebron. The cell had been planning the attack before it was broken up by a joint Shin Bet, IDF and Israel Police investigation. It was operating under direction from Hamas’s military wing in the Gaza Strip to carry out attacks against Israeli and Palestinian Authority targets. Cell members were instructed to establish teams for carrying out kidnapping, shooting and stabbing attacks, to purchase weapons and to recruit others for carrying out terrorist attacks, the Shin Bet said. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu praised the security forces for thwarting the attack, saying that “our enemies should know that our long arm will reach whoever tries to attack us.” In June, 22-year-old Hebron resident Tamar Rajah Rajbi, a student at the Polytechnic College in Hebron and an activist in Hamas’s student arm Al-Kotla al-Islamiya was arrested at his home. At the time of his arrest, Rajbi was in possession of a 3 kg. explosive device with dozens of pieces of metal attached to it that would have likely caused extensive collateral damage when exploded. As part of the interrogation by the Shin Bet, it emerged that Rajbi had been recently recruited by Hamas operatives from the Gaza Strip to serve as a manufacturer of explosives. He was trained by Hamas operatives in the blockaded coastal enclave over the internet as to how manufacture explosive devices. In addition to what was seized by Israeli authorities, Rajbi was asked by his handlers to manufacture additional charges....

Claiming Medicaid cuts in a piece that shows rising outlays for the program... Asserting that government schools are “starved of funding” when taxpayer subsidies actually have skyrocketed. Claiming that budget-cutting austerity nations are doing worse than “stimulus” nations, but getting the numbers backwards. Writing that the sequester will mean “deep automatic spending cuts” when the budget actually would climb by $2.4 trillion. Claiming that Italy is more prosperous than the United States and that there is less poverty. Asserting that U.S. multinationals pay little tax on foreign-source income, but forgetting to include the taxes paid to foreign governments. Cherry-picking income data to hide the fact that pro-market policies produce broadly shared prosperity. Attacking the fairness of America’s economy by using poverty data that doesn’t actually measure poverty. A column that blames capitalism for the shortcomings of China’s government-run health system. Now we have another example. Check out these excerpts from a New York Times column by Steven Greenhouse: “The United States is the only advanced industrial nation that doesn’t have national laws guaranteeing paid maternity leave. It is also the only advanced economy that doesn’t guarantee workers any vacation, paid or unpaid, and the only highly developed country other than South Korea that doesn’t guarantee paid sick days. … Among the three dozen industrial countries in the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development, the United States has the lowest minimum wage as a percentage of the median wage — just 34 percent of the typical wage, compared with 62 percent in France and 54 percent in Britain. It also has the second-highest percentage of low-wage workers among that group … All this means the United States suffers from what I call ‘anti-worker exceptionalism.’ … America’s workers have for decades been losing out: year after year of wage stagnation.”....

Defence Minister Brigadier-General Amir Hatami said it proves Iran 'will not hesitate for a moment to defend itself' as he viewed the weapons in front of TV cameras. It comes after President Hassan Rouhani warned the US of the 'mother of all wars' if tensions in the Gulf spill over into conflict. While stressing that Tehran is willing to negotiate over its nuclear programme, Rouhani said that America must drop all sanctions before the country will talk. He added that while peace with Iran will be 'the mother of all peace', 'war will be the mother of all wars.' Among the new weapons unveiled by Tehran was a guided missile dubbed Yasin, which has folding wings and is designed to be fired from a drone. Another newly-developed weapon was the Balaban, which Iran said could be fired from an aircraft before being guided to its target using GPS and other sensors. Finally, the defence ministry unveiled an updated version of the heat-seeking Ghaem missile, which is also designed as an air-to-air weapon, the Fars news agency said.
