{ washingtonexaminer.com } ~ Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell said he does not have the votes to stop witnesses from appearing in the Senate impeachment trial of President Trump... The Kentucky Senator reportedly made the remarks in a private Republican meeting. Several senators also expressed willingness to move on from the Senate trial to a final vote. Democrats only needed to obtain four Republican votes in the Senate to pass a proposal that would allow for witnesses. Democrats have pressured Republicans to hear witness testimony from former Trump national security adviser John Bolton. In response, Republicans have suggested they will call Hunter Biden, the son of former Vice President loose lips liar-Joe Biden, as a witness in the Senate trial. "I'll make a prediction: There will be 51 Republican votes to call Hunter Biden, loose lipsa liar-Joe Biden, the whistleblower, and the DNC staffer at a very minimum,” South Carolina Sen. Lindsey Graham told reporters.  The House of Representatives passed two articles impeachment against Trump nearly on party lines last year, with no Republicans voting in favor. The two charges include obstruction of Congress and abuse of power.

{ theconservativetreehouse.com } ~ With Wednesday and Thursday scheduled for senators questions, the date for any other deliberative action would most likely be Friday... During an interview with Martha MacCallum Judiciary Chairman Lindsey Graham predicts the potential for the conclusion to any further deliberative action and an acquittal vote on Friday. On an optimistic note, Senator Graham does articulate a personal awareness of  the constitutional precedent that any further witness testimony in the Senate would create; and outlines his republican caucus colleagues also being aware of the issue.   https://theconservativetreehouse.com/2020/01/28/senator-graham-predicts-deliberative-conclusion-on-friday/

Bolton Bombshell in ‘…It Happened’

{ independentsentinel.com  } ~ The NY Times has been busy pumping out anti-Trump revelations from John Bolton’s new book. They released a Ukraine ‘bombshell’ on Sunday and a China-Turkey ‘bombshell’ on Monday... One big problem with it all is the people named as witnesses who could back up Bolton’s claims are rapidly denying them. As most know by now, the New York Times published an article on Sunday — based on a leak — claiming Trump told Bolton he “wanted to continue freezing $391 million in security assistance to Ukraine until officials there helped with investigations into Democrats including the loose lips liar-Bidens.” President Trump tweeted his denial, saying, “If John Bolton said this, it was only to sell a book.” Bolton allegedly named Mick Mulvaney as someone who expressed concerns. Chief of Staff Mulvaney denied it. This report, from anonymous sources, is allegedly based on Bolton’s yet unpublished book manuscript. The book, The Room Where It  Happened: A White House Memoir, opened on Amazon to pre-sales on the evening of the day the Times came up with their ‘bombshell.’ The book will come out during impeachment, and before a major election, which smacks of vicious revenge by a disgruntled employee. Then, on Monday, the Times published a report — in seeming coordination with former NSA John Bolton’s publishers — claiming that Bolton “privately told Attorney General Bill Barr last year that he had concerns that President Trump was effectively granting personal favors to the autocratic leaders of Turkey and China.” It is not clear what “personal favors” Bolton was alleging. As for the Monday ‘bombshell,’ Barr denies it. On Monday, the Times claims Bolton spoke to Attorney General Bill Barr about the President’s interactions with Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Xi Jinping, the leaders of Turkey and China. The article says the Attorney General was similarly concerned about the president creating “the appearance that he had undue influence over what would typically be independent inquiries.” By Monday night, the Department of Justice denied the entire reported exchange between Bolton and Barr. In a statement, a DOJ spokesman said that the DOJ has not reviewed the manuscript, but that there was never a discussion about “personal favors” or “undue influence” between the two officials. Barr’s spokesperson, Kerri Kupec wrote that “If this is truly what Mr. Bolton has written, then it seems he is attributing to Attorney General Barr his own current views–views with which Attorney General Barr does not agree.”...   https://www.independentsentinel.com/bolton-bombshell-in-it-happened-never-happened-says-bill-barr/
DoD IG: Inaccurate Military Surge Sealift
Fleet Readiness Reporting Undercuts

{ news.usni.org } ~ Inaccurate surge sealift fleet readiness reporting misled geographic combatant commanders about their ability to quickly receive equipment resupplies... according to a Department of Defense Inspector General’s report. The Military Sealift Command spent $742.5 million to maintain the nation’s fleet of 50 surge sealift ships between Fiscal Years 2016 and 2018. However, MSC never verified whether its contractors accurately submitted reports detailing whether the nation’s surge sealift ships were even mission ready, according to the IG report. Poor MSC oversight, unreliable readiness reports and the downplaying of major deficiencies in the nation’s military surge sealift fleet likely resulted in geographic combatant commanders making inaccurate assumptions about their ability to receive resupply shipments of critical equipment, according to the report. The IG report found numerous instances when contractors hired to maintain the ships in the surge fleet did not appropriately classify problems on the ships, including the most severe Category 4 casualty reports, which would result in a ship not being able to leave port. “The surge sealift provides 90 percent of cargo space needed to meet OPLAN [operational plan] requirements,” the IG reports states. “For example, the inability of a single ship to perform its mission could result in an armored brigade combat team’s equipment not being delivered when expected.” The IG report uses USNS Mendoca (T-AKR-303) as an example. The Bob Hope-class roll-on, roll-off (RO/RO) vehicle cargo ship has a capacity of 386,662 square-feet – large enough to transport an Army armored brigade combat team...

Impeachment BLOWS UP – scumbag/liar-Schiff’s

{ explainlife.com } ~ House Intelligence Committee Chairman scumbag/liar-Adam Schiff led the Democrats impeachment inquiry into President Donald Trump, and it has completely imploded in recent weeks... Every time Democrats release new information or issue more ludicrous demands, it further proves they have no case at all. But scumbag/liar-Schiff was hit with some devastating news when a star witness in his impeachment inquiry against Trump expressed skepticism about information collected by former British intelligence officer Christopher Steele. Fiona Hill, who served as the White House’s top adviser on Russia until July, expressed serious concerns about Steele’s dossier during her testimony. Hill told lawmakers that Steele was desperate to “drum up business” and obtain work, which made him vulnerable to be misled by his Russian sources. Upon reading the report, Hill said she was concerned that “Steele could have been played.” She also speculated that the Russians’ move to feed material to Steele was motivated more by revenge than by an interest in helping out Trump. “Because if you also think about it, the Russians would have an ax to grind against Steele given the job that he had previously,” she said. “And if he started going back through his old contacts and asking about, that would be a perfect opportunity for people to feed some kind of misinformation.” Hill even testified that she had first-person knowledge of Steele’s desperation, noting that he “was clearly very interested in building up a client base” when the two met in 2016. “And this is why I was concerned about the Steele report because that is a vulnerability,” Hill said. “Christopher Steele going out and looking for information. He’s obviously out there soliciting information. What a great opportunity to, basically, you know, present him with information that he’s looking for that can be couched some truth and some disinformation.”...

Thomas Gallatin:  As Democrats and the Leftmedia seek to inflate and conflate the leaked excerpts from John Bolton’s soon-to-be-published book into some kind of smoking gun of an impeachable offense, the actual evidence for what did and did not occur stubbornly refutes that impeachment narrative. This was the crux of the argument made by President Donald Trump’s defense team in its second day before the Senate.

The House Democrats’ argument for convicting Trump is based on a narrative of their own creation. They argue that Trump placed a hold on $400 million in aid to Ukraine to pressure President Volodymyr Zelensky into “digging up dirt” or at least announcing an investigation into loose lips liar-Joe and Hunter Biden. They contend that in so doing Trump abused the power of the presidency for his own personal benefit — thus he was somehow attempting to rig the 2020 election. (Kind of like what scumbag/liar-Hillary Clinton actually did to Trump in 2016, but we digress.) Their “evidence” for Trump’s corruption is an alleged quid pro quo … that never happened. To put it bluntly, Democrats have impeached Trump over his supposed motives for something that did not happen. Thought crimes.

After the obviously timed Bolton curveball, the Trump defense team responded directly and effectively. “Nothing in the Bolton manuscript would rise to the level of an abuse of power or impeachable offense,” stated Alan Dershowitz. “That is clear from history. That is clear from the language of the Constitution. You cannot turn conduct that is not impeachable into impeachable conduct simply by using words like quid pro quo and personal benefit. It is inconceivable that the Framers would have intended so politically loaded and promiscuously deployed a term as ‘abuse of power’ to be weaponized as a tool of impeachment. It is precisely the kind of vague, open-ended, and suggestive term that the Framers feared and rejected.”

The president’s defense team also disputed the Democrats’ assertion that Trump’s motive for wanting Ukraine to open investigations was not concern over corruption but purely intended to benefit his 2020 campaign. “The president wasn’t ‘caught,’ as the House managers allege. The managers are wrong,” Deputy White House Counsel Mike Purpura stated. “All of this … demonstrates that there was no connection between security assistance and investigation.”

Jay Sekulow, Trump’s personal lawyer, pointedly noted, “Asking a foreign leader to get to the bottom of issues of corruption is not a violation of an oath.” And regarding the questions of corruption surrounding the loose lips liar-Bidens, former Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi highlighted the litany of instances in which numerous individuals both within the mainstream media and even the scumbag/liar-nObama administration raised red flags. She also observed, “Every witness who was asked about Hunter Biden’s involvement with Burisma agreed there was a potential appearance of conflict.” She further noted, “The House managers talked about 400 times, but they never gave you the full picture. Here are those who did: The United Kingdom Serious Fraud Unit, Deputy Assistant Secretary of State George Kent, … ‘ABC Good Morning America’, The Washington Post, The New York Times, Ukrainian law enforcement, and the scumbag/liar-nObama State Department itself. They all thought there was cause to raise the issue about the loose lips liar-Bidens and Burisma.”

Ken Starr warned against allowing the precedent of so grossly politicizing impeachment: “We are living in what can aptly be described as the age of impeachment. In the House, resolution after resolution, month after month, has called for the president’s impeachment. How did we get here? … Presidential impeachment has become a weapon to be wielded against one’s political opponent.” Meanwhile, the Democrats’ argument that Trump’s refusal to give documents and witnesses to the House equated to obstruction of Congress is actually evidence of a “runaway House,” Starr insisted. “If there is a dispute between the people’s House and the president of the United States over the availability of documents or witnesses, and there is in each and every administration — then go to court. It really is as simple as that.”

Finally, due to the leaked Bolton manuscripts, it now appears more likely that a sufficient number of Senate Republicans will vote to call witnesses. However, this also gives Republicans an opening to call witnesses Democrats vehemently objected to, such as Hunter Biden and the whistleblower. The timed Bolton leak has put Republicans in a tough spot, but Democrats may ultimately regret opening Pandora’s Box.
