Media Editors:  2020 VISION: “President Trump formally launched his 2020 re-election campaign Tuesday night before a jam-packed crowd in Orlando’s Amway Center arena, and quickly unloaded on the media organizations and government actors he said tried their hardest with ‘everything they had’ to bring down both his candidacy and presidency,” Fox News reports. The Washington Examiner offers advice on curating a winning message.
.
PATRICK SHANAHAN EXITS: According to National Review, “Acting Secretary of Defense Patrick Shanahan has withdrawn from the confirmation process after being nominated to continue in his role on a permanent basis.” The report adds that “Shanahan’s confirmation process was slowed by an unusually lengthy FBI background check. The delay was likely related to a 2011 domestic-violence incident in which Shanahan’s then-17-year-old son hit his mother in the head with a baseball bat.” Mark Esper will replace Shanahan for the foreseeable future.
.
EPA’S REGULATORY ROLLBACK: The Washington Post reports that the EPA “finalized its biggest climate policy rollback Wednesday, requiring the U.S. power sector to cut its 2030 carbon emissions 35 percent over 2005 levels.” The Post laments that “The Affordable Clean Energy rule … demands much smaller carbon dioxide reductions than the industry is already on track to achieve, even without any federal regulation.” So why is it complaining?
.
NEW YORK’S REGULATORY ENLARGEMENT:  Meanwhile, “Gov. scumbag-Andrew Cuomo (D) said … he has reached an agreement with legislative leaders over a bill to slash New York’s greenhouse gas emissions, setting the stage for one of the most significant state climate victories since President Trump took office,” E&E News reveals. “The legislation calls for reducing emissions by 40% from 1990 levels by 2030 and 85% by 2050. The remaining 15% of emissions would be offset, making the state carbon neutral. The bill would also require that all electricity generation come from carbon-free sources by 2040.”
.
TRADE TALKS REKINDLED: “China and the United States are rekindling trade talks ahead of a meeting next week between Presidents Donald Trump and Xi Jinping, cheering financial markets on hopes that an escalating trade war between the two countries would abate.” (Reuters)
.
BORDER DEAL: “The top members of the Senate Appropriations Committee have struck a deal on President Trump’s request for more funding tied to the U.S.-Mexico border after weeks of stalemate… The deal … would provide Trump more than $4.5 billion for the border funding package.” (The Hill)
.
BORDER COURTS: “The Trump administration, looking for ways to alleviate the crush of asylum-seeking migrants at the United States’ southern border without being granted additional resources, is considering opening a series of ‘immigration courts’ at key border checkpoints to speed the asylum process by offering quick adjudication of asylum claims.” (The Daily Wire)
.
DRUG BUST: “Federal authorities seized 15,000 kilos of cocaine, worth as much as $1 billion, at a Philadelphia shipping port, officials said Tuesday.” (NBC News)
.
DEMS REPUDIATE TRANSGENDER TROOP BAN:  “The House voted Tuesday to block the Pentagon’s new transgender troop policy, taking a swipe at President Donald Trump’s move to ban transgender service in the military. During debate on a $1 trillion spending package, lawmakers voted 243-183 to adopt an amendment from Rep. Jackie Speier (D-Calif.) to block funding to implement the new policy.” (Politico)
.
MAINTAINING THE STATUS QUO: “The House on Tuesday rejected an amendment that would have limited the government’s ability to collect Americans’ personal communications without a warrant. … Congress last year reauthorized Section 702 of FISA with few alterations after a bitter battle between privacy activists and security hawks in both chambers.” (The Hill)

Sources say Trump surveillance scandal appears 'even worse than we originally thought'
by Daniel Chaitin

washingtonexaminer.com } ~ Fox News host Sean Hannity said the "investigation into the investigators" is shaping up to be more of a bombshell than previously expected...
During his evening show, Hannity played up what the Justice Department has already uncovered in its examination of the Russia investigation's origins and potential misconduct by Justice Department and FBI officials. "The single biggest abuse of power scandal in American history is about to be laid bare for all to see," Hannity said Tuesday. "Sources tonight are confirming to me that things are most likely even worse than we originally thought." Hannity pointed to a DOJ letter written to House Judiciary Chairman scumbag liar-Jerry Nadler, D-N.Y., outlining the scope of its investigation into surveillance of President Trump's 2016 campaign. The letter said that Attorney General William Barr's review, led by U.S. Attorney John Durham, is "broad in scope and multifaceted" and includes a look at actions both by the U.S. government and by foreigners. The DOJ made it clear that they weren’t just looking to see if policies were violated, they’ll be looking at whether any laws were broken, too, and its review team has already asked certain intelligence community agencies to preserve records, make witnesses available, and start putting together documents that the DOJ would need to carry out its inquiry...  https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/news/sean-hannity-sources-say-trump-surveillance-scandal-appears-even-worse-than-we-originally-thought?fbclid=IwAR2J9rPV3XL2ZQa6p7lPjn2lEoAQEEWaVHvUJT545uzQywpqY6VWXcKHPAw

California Embodies Everything Wrong

thefederalist.com } ~ In recent days, California lawmakers have finalized their budget. The legislation includes several choices regarding health care and scumbag/liar-nObamacare, most of them incorrect ones... Doling out more government largesse won’t solve rising health costs, and it will cause more unintended consequences in the process. This move has drawn the most attention, as the budget bill expands Medicaid coverage to illegally present adults aged 19-26. California will pay the full share of this Medicaid spending, as the federal government will not subsidize health coverage for foreign citizens illegally present in the United States. Sad as it may sound, expanding coverage to “only” some law-breaking foreigners represented a compromise. Liberal lawmakers originally wanted to expand Medicaid to all illegal residents, at a cost of $3.4 billion. But California Gov. scumbag-Gavin Newsom objected to the price tag, so lawmakers agreed to fund benefits solely for the 19-26 population, and delayed its implementation until January 1, 2020. As to those who disagree with this move, one can study the words of none other than scumbag/liar-Hillary Clinton. In 1993, she  testified before Congress in opposition to giving illegal residents full health benefits, because “illegal aliens” were coming to the United States for health care even then: We do not think the comprehensive health care benefits should be extended to those who are undocumented workers and illegal aliens. We do not want to do anything to encourage more illegal immigration into this country. We know now that too many people come in for medical care, as it is. We certainly don’t want them having the same benefits that American citizens are entitled to have. If scumbag/liar-Clinton’s words don’t sound compelling enough, consider one way that California may finance these new benefits: By reinstating scumbag/liar-nObamacare’s individual mandate. To put it another way, people who obey the law i.e., the mandate will fund free health coverage for people who by definition have broken the law by coming to, or remaining in, the United States unlawfully. This issue faces multiple questions on both process and substance. First, the budget bill includes about $8 million for the state’s Franchise Tax Board to implement an individual mandate, but doesn’t actually contain language imposing the mandate. The bill that would reimpose the mandate, using definitions originally included in the federal law, passed the Assembly  late last month, but faces opposition in the Senate...

Solar Power to Hit the Wall in Nevada

americanthinker.com } ~ Solar power and wind power are the dominant methods of generating electricity that are acceptable to the extreme left. The left calls its acceptable methods of generating electricity “renewable energy.”... The definition of renewable energy, enshrined in renewable portfolio laws in many states, tells us what the left likes and doesn’t like. It is very arbitrary. The general idea of renewable energy is that it doesn’t use fuel that could run out and it doesn’t emit CO2. But the left breaks its own rules as is convenient. For example, nuclear power doesn’t emit CO2 and running out of fuel is strictly theoretical. Nuclear is also reliable with steady delivery of electricity. The prospects for new technology in the nuclear universe are very bright. Yet, nuclear is arbitrarily banned in renewable portfolio laws. Incredibly, most renewable portfolio laws effectively ban hydroelectric power too, because the environmental left does not like dams. Geothermal power, utilizing hot rocks underground as a source of energy, is accepted as renewable, even though the “fuel” can and does run out as the rocks cool under the pressure of removing the heat to make electricity. Geothermal only works if rare good sites are found. Solar power and wind power are loved by the left, but have the serious problem of erratic delivery of power. Wind dominates solar except in places with poor wind and good sunshine, such as Nevada, where I live. In states where a lot of solar has been installed, such as California and Nevada, solar is running into a wall that is related to  the time delivery of solar power versus when the electrical grid’s need for power. Nevada has a renewable portfolio law that demands that by 2030 half the electricity come from renewable sources. The promoters of green power are even trying to put the renewable power quota into the Nevada Constitution. As a practical matter that quota requires greatly increasing solar electricity. Nevada does have fairly good geothermal resources, but those are expensive and slow to develop. The solar industry is facing the problem that at a certain point, in some places, it will be running into a wall and no more solar installations can be built. They have a solution. They want to add batteries to solar installations. The batteries will store excess power at midday and release the stored electricity in the early evening when the power is needed. The problem is that batteries to do this are very expensive. The cost of a solar installation with batteries would nearly double the cost and the batteries will probably wear out periodically. The promoters of solar have a solution for that -- have the federal government subsidize the cost of the batteries. Solar installations are approximately 70% subsidized by the federal government and by state energy quotas that energize favorable financing. As a consequence solar power that really costs $70 to $80 per megawatt hour, can sell for as little as $25 to $30 per megawatt hour due to the subsidies. But if a nonsubsidized battery system is added to the installation, the energy cost is likely to balloon to $80 or $90 per megawatt hour. To prevent this high cost and in order to pass beyond the wall, the solar promoters have an intense lobbying campaign to add battery systems to the list of things receiving huge green subsidies. Even if they get the subsidy, the combined solar plus battery system will probably deliver power for about $50 per megawatt hour...
Trump Says US to Begin Removing
Millions of Illegals

by libertyheadlines.com:  The United States will start removing “millions” of illegal migrants next week, President Donald Trump said Monday... adding that Guatemala is preparing to sign a safe third country deal. “Next week ICE will begin the process of removing the millions of illegal aliens who have illicitly found their way into the United States. They will be removed as fast as they come in,” Trump said on Twitter, referring to the Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency. He added that “Guatemala is getting ready to sign a Safe-Third Agreement,” an apparent reference to a pact in which migrants entering Guatemalan territory would have to apply for refugee status there, not in the United States. The US is facing a surge in migrant arrivals from Guatemala and other Central American countries. The numbers have overwhelmed the ability of US authorities to temporarily shelter and process them. Trump has called it “an invasion,” and has made the fight against illegal migration a central plank of his administration. Earlier Monday the US said it would not offer any more aid to El Salvador, Guatemala and Honduras unless they take “concrete actions” to deter undocumented migrants from heading for the US. For fiscal 2019, $370 million initially planned will be allocated to other foreign policy priorities, the State Department said, and all future aid is now conditional...

Houthi rebels shoot down U.S. aircraft
by Jerry McCormick

patriotnewsalerts.com } ~ The tensions between Iran and the United States got kicked up another level due to some new information about the downing of a U.S. drone...
On Sunday, military officials confirmed a U.S. drone had been shot down by the Iran-backed Houthi rebels in Yemen. The fact of significance here is that the U.S. had been flying its drones at heights the Houthis have not been able to attack for some time. Their ability to carry out a successful attack against the drone shows that their offensive capabilities have improved. This more than likely means they have been getting support from Iran, something that creates a major concern for our military leaders in the Middle East. The drone itself was shot down on June 6, but there was apparently another attempted attack against a second drone. That strike happened on the same day two oil tankers were attacked in the Gulf of Oman.U.S. officials believe that was a pre-emptive strike to curb surveillance of the area while Iran carried out the strikes. While some presidential candidates have accused the Trump administration of goading Iran into a war, that is far from the case. The administration on all fronts has been adamant that it would much rather come to a peaceful solution than get involved in yet another conflict in the Middle East. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo stated: “The United States is going to make sure that we take all the actions necessary, diplomatic and otherwise, that achieve that outcome.” Pompeo further stated our intelligence teams are putting together significant evidence to show Iran as the clear aggressor. The hope is to put public pressure on Iran to stop these actions as well as paint a truthful picture for Americans that are being fed a false narrative by Democrats and the liberal networks supporting them.

Arnold Ahlert:  “Give me four years to teach the children, and the seed I have sown will never be uprooted.” —Vladimir Lenin

From August 12-23, a Portland, Oregon, group called Budding Roses, self-described as a “volunteer-run collective of educators, students, and activists” will be working to plant an activist seed in children entering fourth through eighth grade next fall.

Their vehicle? Social Justice Summer Camp.

“Our goal is to provide a free, safe and encouraging space for youth to learn, express themselves, and engage critically with the issues they encounter individuals and as a group,” the Budding Roses website states. “We strive to help them cultivate the necessary tools to be active members of our communities through experiences of collective decision-making and democratic education. At camp, youth of all ages play a leadership role alongside adult counselors and make collective decisions about the activities and format of the day. Each day opening and closing assemblies provide a space for youth and counselors to democratically plan activities for the day, resolve conflicts, and build interpersonal leadership skills.”

Really? Here’s the digital flier being sent out by the camp:

PJ Media’s Jeff Reynolds, who received one these fliers, spells out the real intentions of these anarchist recruiters. “The first thing that struck me, before anything else, was the mask-clad, fist-raising elementary school kids in the illustration,” he writes. “Teaching incoming 4th-8th-graders how to riot, become members of antifa, and join a communist revolution seems a bit much — even for Portland, Oregon. Notice the star on the mask and the raised fist. Classic imagery from the USSR, China, and other violent Marxist revolutions in the 20th century.”

Note that there’s no charge for attending the camp. That’s because Budding Roses gets funding from the Black Rose Anarchist Federation, a group that bills itself on its website as an “organization of revolutionaries who share common visions of a new world — a world where people collectively control their own workplaces, communities and land and where all basic needs are met.”

And from whom do they draw their inspiration? Again according to the website, “As those actively seeking to construct this vision we are inspired by the traditions of anarchist-communism, anarcho-syndicalism, especifismo, platformism, feminism, queer liberation, black liberation, abolitionism, anti-racism and their history of global struggle for liberation.”

Note that their graphic is virtually identical to the one used by the camp:

Note further that while the Social Justice Summer Camp is held at St. Peter & Paul Church, Budding Roses makes sure to point out that they are not affiliated with the Church. Rather they are “an explicitly non-religious” organization.

Anyone still remember that Communists in both the Soviet Union and China either banned religion outright or put it in total service to the state when they attained power?

Even more germane, does anyone remember when summer camp was about playing sports, doing crafts, horseback riding, swimming etc.? Undoubtedly for this bunch, such pursuits are either secondary or irrelevant to molding an American equivalent of China’s Red Guard, or Lenin’s very own All-Union Pioneer Organization. Lenin’s organization was also tailored for young children (ages 9-15), and also used summer camps to indoctrinate them.

Daily activities at the camp will include “a combination of community-building activities, discussions on social justice topics, interactive workshops, movies, arts, games, and free time. Workshops and discussions are often held in collaboration with local activists and community organizations.”

In the previous two summers, those community organizations included Critical Resistance PDX, a group that bills itself as a “small group of dedicated prison industrial complex abolitionists;” Deep Undergound (DUG), described as an open-mic collective whose “work is dedicated to creating spaces that provide a sense of safety and freedom for the black and brown community in this city;” the Transformative Lenses Collective,  described on Facebook as “a group of organizers working to provide support to survivors of gendered violence, abuse, & its intersecting oppressions;” and the Burgerville Workers Union whose members see their union as “part of a larger vision for a world that centers human need over the pursuit of profit.”

In other words, campers will be marinated in a stew of progressive politics, courtesy of those whose contempt for America’s foundational principles is undisguised.

What is also undisguised is the reality that leftists must teach children — the younger the better — what to think, not how to think. That’s because the latter approach would be tantamount to political suicide. The historical wreckage wrought by Godless collectivism in search of a utopia — and utterly antithetical to human nature — is impossible to ignore. Thus, history — along with reality itself — must be completely obscured by a relentless barrage of politically correct groupthink. Groupthink that must be endlessly reiterated, lest an independent idea rear its “ugly” head.

“Just think how formidable these children will be by the time they reach high school,” writes columnist Elizabeth Vaughn.

Formidable? Angry and miserable is more like it, if this effort to inculcate a permanent sense of victimhood takes hold.

Yet like so many leftist efforts, the Achilles Heel is baked into the mix. Few things are more time consuming — and ultimately exhausting — than maintaining the hubris, the anger, and the arrogance that radical leftist ideological purity demands, especially when those demands are continually expanding. Today’s social justice warrior can become tomorrow’s social pariah in the proverbial blink of an eye, even for the slightest and/or unconscious infraction.

China’s Red Guard self-destructed for exactly that reason, and one suspects even the historically illiterate generations of younger Americans know the Soviet Union has ceased to exist.

What they might not know is that the Berlin Wall was broken down from the inside, not the outside.

The cracks in the progressive wall are impossible to ignore. Their hate, their hysteria, and their need to denigrate rather than debate — when they’re not engaged in full-blown censorship — are indications of many things.

Confidence isn’t one of them.

Nothing confirmed that better than the 2016 election, when leftists themselves destroyed the facade of self-promoted tolerance they had enjoyed for decades. In the frenzy that has ensued ever since, they revealed they are only interested in tolerance — along with fairness, decorum, decency, and the Rule of Law itself — when it is wholly compatible with their worldview. Otherwise, the nation must endure their contempt for “racist,” “deplorable,” “toxic,” “privileged,” “bitter-clinging” Americans, as well as open borders, sanctuary cities, activist judges, rule by unelected bureaucrats, and an attempted coup d'etat.

Social Justice Summer Camp? Good luck, comrades. You’re going to need it.  ~The Patriot Post
