DEMOCRATS CONDEMN: “The Democrat-controlled House of Representatives passed a resolution on Tuesday night condemning President Donald Trump for his ‘racist comments’ about four Democratic congresswomen of color,” reports NBC News. The Democrats’ condemnation notwithstanding, Trump’s post-remark approval rating improved among Republicans.

DEMOCRATS EXPLOIT: “Rep. scumbag-Al Green (D-Texas) filed articles of impeachment against President Trump on Tuesday under a process that will force a House floor vote by the end of this week.” (The Hill)

scumbag-SCHUMER JOINS REPARATIONS BANDWAGON: “Senate Minority Leader Chuck scumbag-Schumer told a small group of reporters Tuesday that he will support legislation proposed by Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee (D-Texas) and Sen. scumbag-Cory Booker (D-N.J.) to establish a commission to study reparations for slavery.” (Axios)

Government

CITIZENSHIP QUESTION OFFICIALLY JETTISONED:  “A federal judge in New York on Tuesday signed an order permanently blocking the Trump administration from adding a citizenship question to the 2020 census, days after President Trump gave up on his efforts to get such a question on next year’s census.” (The Hill)

DRAINING THE SWAMP: “The Trump administration is shifting most of the Bureau of Land Management’s personnel in its Washington, D.C. headquarters out west by the end of next year. … Over 80% of the agency’s D.C. staff will be relocated further west to states such as Arizona, Colorado, New Mexico, and Utah.” (Washington Examiner)

The BIG Lies

10% SUBSTANCE, 90% FRAGRANCE: “Over months of work, FBI agents painstakingly researched every claim [Christopher] Steele made about Trump’s possible collusion with Russia, and assembled their findings into a spreadsheet-like document. … One source estimated the spreadsheet found upward of 90 percent of the dossier’s claims to be either wrong, nonverifiable or open-source intelligence found with a Google search.” (John Solomon)

worthless-OMAR’S QUESTIONABLE HISTORY: “New investigative documents released by a state agency have given fresh life to lingering questions about the marital history of Rep. worthless-Ilhan Omar and whether she once married a man — possibly her own brother — to skirt immigration laws.” (Star Tribune)

Other Notables

NOT RADICAL ENOUGH: “A woman whose mission in life is to literally sell abortion was apparently not radical enough for Planned Parenthood. … The country’s largest abortion provider abruptly kicked president Leana Wen to the curb after just 10 months at the helm reportedly because Wen refused to say men can get pregnant and wasn’t aggressive enough pushing the life-ending procedure.” (The Daily Wire)

AMAZON PROBED: “The European Union will launch an antitrust investigation into whether Amazon is misusing its dual role as both a marketplace for independent sellers and a retailer of its own products. In particular, the E.U. said its probe will look at the agreements between Amazon and its sellers, which allow Amazon’s retail business to analyze and use third-party seller data. The probe will also examine how Amazon uses its data to pick which sellers win the ‘Buy Box’ — which is prominently displayed on Amazon’s site and allows customers to add items directly to their shopping carts.” (The Washington Post)

JOHN PAUL STEVENS DIES: “Retired Supreme Court Justice John Paul Stevens, who was appointed by President Gerald Ford in 1975 as a moderate but later became a leading liberal voice, has died, the Supreme Court said Tuesday. He was 99. The cause of death was complications from a stroke he suffered on Monday.” (CBS News)

thefederalist.com } ~ Several Democratic 2020 White House hopefuls took turns standing outside of the Homestead migrant shelter in southern Florida last month to criticize the current administration’s immigration practices... The 2020 contenders ranged from Sen. Elizabeth dinky-Warren (D-Mass.) to former U.S. Rep. socialist-Beto O’Rourke (D-T.X.), who blasted Homestead’s “prison-like” conditions. “There weren’t children playing. There weren’t children laughing the way children usually do when they’re moving from one place to another,” dinky-Warren said to reporters following her visit to the facility. “These were children who were being marched like little soldiers – like little prisoners – from one place to another. This is not what we should be doing as a country.” Those accusations dumbfounded volunteers and employees who work at the migrant facility, who described just the opposite. Local pastor Russell Black has been volunteering at the shelter about once a week since its opening in 2015, he said. Black told The Federalist he has been impressed by the conditions and care at the facility and said the children were well-cared for by trained staff and management while being given ample recreation. “From day one, I was amazed at the care and expense given to the children,” Black said. One employee at the facility, Melissa, who declined to provide a last name out of concerns of harassment, noted that the children are provided three full meals a day and two snacks. In addition, each child who enters the facility is given a full medical exam to assess his or her mental and physical needs. If a child’s physical needs were too extreme for the facility to handle, he or she was transported to a nearby hospital, all at U.S. taxpayers’ expense. The Homestead shelter is one of the largest and most controversial migrant detention facilities in the country. Contracted by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, it is the only facility for illegally entering non-citizen children run by a for-profit company and not directly overseen by the state...  https://thefederalist.com/2019/07/16/immigration-facility-volunteer-prison-like-concentration-camp-claims-flat-false/?utm_source=The+Federalist+List&utm_campaign=e522ad10c3-RSS_The_Federalist_Daily_Updates_w_Transom&utm_medium=email&utm_term=0_cfcb868ceb-e522ad10c3-83771801

dailysignal.com } ~ Canadian Medicare, our northern neighbor’s universal health care system, generally receives rave reviews from proponents of nationalized or socialized health care... but the Fraser Institute found that more than 63,000 Canadians left their country to have surgery in 2016. As Americans contemplate overturning our health system in favor of one similar to Canada’s, we must ask why so many leave. The Canadian system consistently ranks low or lowest across numerous metrics in the Commonwealth Fund’s extensive survey on health care. With regards to specialists and surgeries, the United States ranked best or nearly best. The Fraser Institute study did not examine where Canadians traveled for surgery, but given proximity and our much better metrics, most probably came here. Surgeries are scheduled after patients are seen by the surgeon, and most people see surgeons only after a referral by either their primary care physician in America, or their general practitioner in Canada. In the United States, 70% of patients are able to be seen by specialists less than four weeks after a referral. In Canada, less than 40% were seen inside of four weeks. After being advised that they need a procedure done, only about 35% of Canadians had their surgery within a month, whereas in the United States, 61% did. After four months, about 97% of Americans were able to have their surgery, whereas Canada struggled to achieve 80%. America is significantly outperforming Canada in surgery wait times even as it’s likely that tens of thousands of Canadians come here to use the American system...  https://www.dailysignal.com/2019/07/15/american-health-care-treats-canadians-who-cannot-wait/?mkt_tok=eyJpIjoiTkRWaFl6WTFaVE13TWpJNSIsInQiOiJlOWdVYU1LU1hWcktHU3BvQlpjY3hMT2xlREs0a1BIZnB5b3RZeEdJMWk2alpOYnd4YW9YUkl1b2I2ME4weWxUZU1URGU1QjZlVjJZQmh4djdyK0cwKzlDZGVXdndndGx5QzRrcTFEbE9uNWZLS1d0aHZLTjZYbTVVdXdxcThzKyJ9

thefederalist.com } ~ A series of remarkable things happened over the weekend—all of them overshadowed by unfortunate tweets from President Trump and the hysterical overreactions they provoked... But these overshadowed events tell us much more about the state of the country than the controversy over Trump’s tweets, and what they reveal isn’t good. On Friday night, a mob of protestors tore down an American flag outside a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement facility in Aurora, Colo., and replaced it with a Mexican flag. Local police stood by and did nothing. The next day, a gunman reportedly associated with Antifa attacked an ICE detention center in Tacoma, Wash., throwing Molotov cocktails and attempting to set fire to a propane tank. He was reportedly killed by police in a gunfight. The attack in Tacoma coincided with left-wing protests at ICE facilities all over the country, prompted by nationwide ICE raids targeting Central American families whom immigration judges have ordered to be deported after reviewing their claims. If you’re a Democrat seeking your party’s nomination for 2020, what’s your response to these events? So far, nothing. No Democrat has said anything about the mob in Colorado or the gunman in Washington, but plenty have issued statements on the ICE raids and Vice President Mike Pence’s border visit...  https://thefederalist.com/2019/07/16/face-massive-border-crisis-democrats-tell-americans-citizenship-means-nothing/?utm_source=The+Federalist+List&utm_campaign=e522ad10c3-RSS_The_Federalist_Daily_Updates_w_Transom&utm_medium=email&utm_term=0_cfcb868ceb-e522ad10c3-83771801

{ jpost.com } ~ Archaeologists unearthed a 9,000-year-old city, its tools and artifacts just outside of Jerusalem... Workers discovered the site while creating a new entrance to Jerusalem. Archaeologists took interest in the site, which they eventually excavated for a year and a half to unveil streets, burial grounds and trade items.Their efforts to dig up these artifacts yielded hints as to how society operated in Neolithic times. “The materials’ culture was very, very rich, which could indicate that the settlement was well-organized by political and economic leaders,” site manager Dr. Hamoudi Khalaily told The Jerusalem Post. Large, extended families lived together in designated quarters spread throughout the city, according to site manager Dr. Jacob Vardi. The street infrastructure indicates some kind of planning before the construction of houses. According to the excavators the city existed for roughly 1,500 year as a trade center. Arrowheads and knives composed of volcanic glass came from the settlement’s commerce with Turkey. Basalt grinding tools showed contact with the North. Animal bones and stockpiles of seeds show the population’s dependence on livestock and agriculture. However, game bones suggest that the society practiced hunting and gathering at some point. Vardi infers that the settlement eventually switched between the two lifestyles.“The settlement reached its peak in the last 300 or 400 years,” Vardi said, explaining that the economy began to thrive after the adoption of domesticated animals. “When that happened, the site became extremely huge, from maybe one hectare, it grew to 30 or 40 hectares.”...  https://www.jpost.com/Israel-News/Scientists-unearth-Prehistoric-9000-year-old-city-near-Jerusalem-595820

thehill.com } ~ Former "Fox & Friends" co-host Clayton Morris fled the U.S. while facing multiple lawsuits over real estate deals, the Indianapolis Star reported Friday... Morris, who previously resided in a $1.4 million home in New Jersey, has moved with his family to a coastal resort town in Portugal, according a Facebook post from his wife. Former MSNBC anchor Natali Morris told the outlet in an email that she and her husband plan to continue fighting the lawsuits from abroad. Clayton Morris left Fox News in 2017 to become a real estate promoter with Bert Whalen of Indianapolis. The two men are alleged to have misled at least 35 buyers and renters on the conditions of distressed properties. Morris used web-based seminars and YouTube videos to lure potential investors. Natali Morris told the outlet that she and her husband are not responsible for losses, instead blaming Whalen and his business, Oceanpointe. "We have and continued to take responsibility for all of our legal challenges that came from our relationship with Oceanpointe. We have answered all of our attorney general requests in all states. We have answered all lawsuits," she said. "We have not run from anything," she added. "We continue to show up for this until the last lawsuit is dismissed and it is clear that we neither had the money from Oceanpointe investors nor did we defraud anyone." Some involved with the lawsuits against Clayton Morris have expressed concerns about the move to Portugal...

Dealing With the Democrats' Migrant Invasion

Nate Jackson:  While media pontificators were collectively losing their minds over another immigration-related social-media pronouncement from President Donald Trump, there was a lot of immigration stuff in the news. Here’s a brief rundown.

First, Trump won a rare court victory Friday regarding whether he can withhold certain federal funds from Democrat “sanctuary cities.” George Mason University law professor Ilya Somin explains, “In City of Los Angeles v. Barr, a divided 2-1 panel of the US Court of Appeals for the 9th Circuit upheld the Justice Department’s policy of giving preferences to state and local governments that assist federal immigration enforcement efforts, when it comes to assessing applications for the Community Oriented Policing Services (COPS) competitive law enforcement grant program.” In short, it is the *competitive" nature of these grants that resulted in a favorable ruling this time, whereas Trump’s other attempts to withhold federal funds from jurisdictions that flout federal law have been blocked.

Second, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) began specific operations in major cities Sunday, targeting about 2,000 illegals who had already been ordered out of the country. These are the same raids Trump recently delayed “at the request of Democrats.” These aliens are “not undocumented,” said U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services Acting Director Ken Cuccinelli. “They’ve got a court order on a piece of paper — a federal order — that says they’ve gotten due process.”

Acting ICE Director Matthew Albence likewise explained, “These are individuals who have come into this country illegally, had the opportunity to make an asylum claim in front of an immigration judge, and most of them chose not to avail themselves at the opportunity, and didn’t even show up to their first hearing.”

Third, the Trump administration is about to implement a rule (that will be challenged in court) requiring asylum seekers to wait “in a third country through which they transited” — not Mexico and not the U.S. There would be exceptions, but not many.

Fourth, speaking of ICE, protesters at an Aurora, Colorado, detention facility removed and defaced an American flag, as well as a Blue Lives Matter flag, while raising a Mexican flag. We’d note that there’s a kindred spirit among law enforcement around the nation, and it’s astounding to see Dems vilifying these Patriots for sensibly enforcing the law.

Fifth, Vice President Mike Pence visited two detention facilities in Texas Friday. In an effort to play up Democrat talking points about these facilities being “concentration camps,” The Washington Post reports that “he saw nearly 400 men crammed behind caged fences with not enough room for them all to lie down on the concrete ground.” But Pence correctly noted, “That’s the overcrowding President Trump has been talking about. That’s the overwhelming of the system that some in Congress have said was a manufactured crisis. But now I think the American people can see this crisis is real.”

And let’s be clear about where the blame for it belongs — at the feet of the Democrats who invited this invasion.   ~The Patriot Post
