After Attacks on Saudi Oil, Time
for Trump to Strike Iran’s Proxies

{ freebeacon.com } ~ The attacks on Saudi Arabia's oil facilities on Saturday should remind Washington of two points... First, Middle Eastern oil still matters to the United States, even if Americans need less of it, and second, Iran is encircling Saudi Arabia through proxies, posing a potentially existential threat to a crucial—albeit troublesome—ally. On the first point, oil prices soared on Monday and will likely remain at a higher cost per barrel for weeks after armed drones or cruise missiles set ablaze Abqaiq, the world's largest oil processing facility and crude oil stabilization plant, and Khurais, the second-largest oil field in Saudi Arabia. The attacks forced the Saudis to cut production by some 5.7 million barrels a day, about half of their output and more than 5 percent of the global daily oil supply. More important, however, the price rose because of fear. It is clear Saudi Arabia's oil infrastructure, and thus its production and exports, are vulnerable to attacks. At home, the prospect of Americans paying more at the pump may help dispel the myth that, because the United States is less reliant on importing Middle Eastern oil, Washington can withdraw from the region. Like it or not, there is a global price that affects American companies and consumers. And, more broadly, some of the world's biggest economies and America's biggest trading partners still have unquenchable thirsts for Middle Eastern oil. Someone who argues the United States should not care about Saudi Arabia's oil must also be prepared to argue that the nation should not care about how the Chinese, Indian, and Japanese economies perform. On the second point, American officials are now saying the attack likely came from Iraq or Iran itself. Indeed, there is growing evidence that an Iranian-backed militia in Iraq carried out the attacks, not the Iranian-backed Houthi rebels in Yemen. Yes, the Houthis quickly claimed responsibility, but that does not mean much. In May, the Houthis claimed responsibility for a drone attack on a major Saudi oil pipeline, only to have American officials later  conclude that an Iranian-backed group in Iraq was behind the assault. If Iraqi militants were responsible, then the Houthis were providing them cover, indicating the Yemeni rebels are full proxies of Iran, willing to put themselves at risk for their Iranian patrons...  https://freebeacon.com/blog/after-attacks-saudi-oil-time-trump-strike-irans-proxies/?utm_source=Freedom+Mail&utm_campaign=8ab05e870a-EMAIL_CAMPAIGN_2019_09_16_09_40_COPY_242&utm_medium=email&utm_term=0_b5e6e0e9ea-8ab05e870a-45611665

{ foxnews.com } ~ Manhattan District Attorney Cyrus Vance Jr.'s office has subpoenaed tax returns belonging to President Trump and the Trump Organization through their accounting firm... Fox News confirmed Monday. Jennifer Farrington, the chief marketing officer for the accounting firm Mazars USA, which has represented both Trump and the Trump Organization, told Fox News, “We have received a subpoena,” though she wouldn’t give specifics. In a statement, Mazars says the firm will “respect the legal process and fully comply with its legal obligations.”  The company added: “We believe strongly in the ethical and professional rules and regulations that govern our industry, our work and our client interactions. As a matter of firm policy and professional rules, we do not comment on the work we conduct for our clients.”Vance, a Democrat, has declined comment. The New York Times, which broke the story, reported that the subpoena was issued late last month after the district attorney’s office opened a criminal investigation into the role that the president and his family business played in hush-money payments ahead of the presidential election. Trump Organization attorney Marc Mukasey said, “We are reviewing and will respond as appropriate.” Speaking outside the White House on Monday, Trump told reporters, “I don't know anything about it.” The president had reimbursed his former attorney Michael Cohen for money paid to silence adult-movie star Stormy Daniels, who said she had an affair with Trump years before he became president. For his part, Trump also denied the affair and said any payments were personal matters, not campaign expenses. Cohen pleaded guilty last year to campaign finance violations, tax evasion and other crimes and has been serving a three-year sentence. State prosecutors have reportedly been seeking federal and state returns for both the president and the company for a period of eight years dating back to 2011.   https://www.foxnews.com/politics/trump-personal-business-tax-returns-subpoenaed-manhattan-da?utm_source=dlvr.it&utm_medium=twitter

The Opioid Crisis Is Hurting America’s Veterans

{ freebeacon.com } ~ Veterans who saw combat after 9/11 are more likely to be victims of America's opioid crisis, adding "an important front in the Global War on Terrorism," according to a study... The study, which relies on multiple federal data sets, finds that post-9/11 veterans who saw combat are significantly more likely to have been prescribed opioids and to self-report having abused them, often alongside other prescription drugs. This finding helps explain why veterans are up to twice as likely as civilians to die from opioid overdoses.  Military service has long been linked to opioid addiction. The first drug crisis in U.S. history  followed the Civil War, as soldiers on both sides returned home hooked on the opium pills and morphine they received as treatment on the battlefield. American G.I.s serving in Vietnam were exposed to cheap and plentiful heroin with similar results. In 2019, America  is gripped by the deadliest drug crisis in at least a century, a crisis that has grown steadily since the turn of the millennium. Researchers from the University of Georgia, San Diego State University, and the University of Connecticut found that those who had seen combat were especially vulnerable to the epidemic. According to the paper, 45 percent of veterans suffer from chronic pain, a rate three times higher than the civilian population. Veterans are 15 percentage points more likely to have been issued an opioid prescription, and those that did receive a prescription were likelier to receive a prescription for three months or more, which increases the risk of dependency. Among post-9/11 veterans specifically, roughly a third were prescribed opioids to treat pain. What is more, the new paper notes, VA doctors were not required to—and generally opted not to—check veterans against a prescription drug monitoring program until 2017. Such programs, known as PDMPs, are considered some of the most effective tools to combat the opioid crisis, obliging doctors to check if a patient has a history of lengthy prescriptions or drug-seeking behavior. The lack of monitoring meant that veterans were uniquely at risk for developing opioid addictions unbeknownst to their medical providers. "Given these risk factors, the Department of Defense has speculated that the Global War on Terror (GWOT) may have contributed to opioid addiction among post-9/11 veterans," the study said. It cited a Department of Defense brief that concluded "Opioid abuse may relate to deployment effects, such as injuries, combat exposure, and mental health conditions." Using data from two datasets—the National Longitudinal Study of Adolescent to Adult Health and the Department of Defense's Survey of Health Related Behaviors—the study tries to examine how exposure to actual combat is linked to opioid use and misuse. It takes advantage of what the authors argue is a "natural experiment" produced by the apparently random assignment of given members of the military to combat or non-combat zones...   https://freebeacon.com/issues/the-opioid-crisis-is-hurting-americas-veterans/?utm_source=Freedom+Mail&utm_campaign=8ab05e870a-EMAIL_CAMPAIGN_2019_09_16_09_40_COPY_242&utm_medium=email&utm_term=0_b5e6e0e9ea-8ab05e870a-45611665
Most of the $33 Billion in Remittances to
Mexico Flow Via U.S. Govt. Banking Program

by judicialwatch.org ~ Though President Trump said he would block money transfers to Mexico to fund a much-needed border wall, Mexicans in the U.S. sent a record $33.48 billion in remittances last year and a big chunk of it flowed through a government program operated by the Federal Reserve... This means that, amid an onslaught of illegal immigration, the U.S. government is largely responsible for the billions in remittances flowing south of the border from illegal aliens. Figures released by Mexico’s central bank show that 104 million transactions were executed in 2018, nearly six million more than the previous year. Uncle Sam facilitates the process with a program called “Directo a Mexico” (Direct to Mexico), launched by the Federal Reserve, the government agency that serves as the nation’s central bank, more than a decade ago. President George W. Bush came up with the idea following the 2001 U.S.-Mexico Partnership for Prosperity to provide low-cost banking services to illegal immigrants and facilitate the procedure for those sending money home. In its first year, 2005, remittances to Mexico topped $20 billion and the Federal Reserve reports “double-digit percentage growth for the past several years.” Remittances are transferred through the Federal Reserve’s own automated clearinghouse linked directly to Mexico’s central bank (Banco de Mexico). The Trump administration should eliminate it because it undermines our nation’s immigration laws and is a potential national security nightmare. Back in 2006 Judicial Watch investigated the outrageous taxpayer-subsidized initiative and obtained government records that shed light on how it functions. Marketing materials target immigrant workers in the U.S.—regardless of their legal status—as well as banks, credit unions and other financial institutions. The program is promoted as “the best way to send money home,” offering “more pesos for every dollar.” American financial institutions are charged $0.67 per item to transfer money from the United States to Mexican banks, ensuring a “highly competitive rate.” The Federal Reserve also provides participating U.S. financial institutions with Spanish language promotional materials to “help get your message out.” The marketing materials also include the number of Mexican migrants in the U.S. with no distinction between those here illegally or not. A separate list identifies thousands of Mexican banks receiving “Directo a México” transfers...  https://www.judicialwatch.org/corruption-chronicles/most-of-the-33-billion-in-remittances-to-mexico-flow-via-u-s-govt-banking-program/
There is nothing the Democrats won't
do in order to win in 2020

{ renewamerica.com } ~ The Democrats have firmly drawn their lines in the sand and thrown down their gauntlet against our country. They will do anything and everything – no matter how abhorrent to humanity – to win elections in 2020...  President Trump will never stop being under fire from the Democrats planning to impeach him, no matter how many painstaking reports show – and prove – he is not guilty of anything they have claimed...let alone any "high crimes and misdemeanors." Democrat Rep. and Chairman of the House Judiciary committee scumbag liar-Jerold Nadler has announced the beginnings of a Democrat impeachment investigation fully supported by the House Democrats, despite the now-infamous Mueller Report that found nothing impeachable in any of President Trump's words or actions. Unfortunately, this is not the end of their chicanery and attempts to bring down the USA as we have known it. Now, these same Democrats have decided to reopen an investigation against the now seated US Supreme Court Associate Justice Brett Kavanaugh over one of the seamy and patently fake stories that was floated by Democrats during the good judge's confirmation hearings. All of the vicious stories about Kavanaugh were found to be false. Yet, the media immediately jumped on this rehash of a proven-false story about Justice Kavanaugh. Even the New York Times once a real news source jumped on it and then, uncharacteristically, had to rescind its story with: "The Times' revision says: "Editors' Note: An earlier version of this article, which was adapted from a forthcoming book, did not include one element of the book's account regarding an assertion by a Yale classmate that friends of Brett Kavanaugh pushed his penis into the hand of a female student at a drunken dorm party. The book reports that the female student declined to be interviewed and friends say that she does not recall the incident. That information has been added to the article." We must note that the "does not recall" is Dem-speech for "it never happened and was a fake story from the beginning." Yet, now the Democrat-controlled House of Representatives is, again, going after Justice Kavanaugh and now plans to impeach him for something that never occurred and believing the book's author who was a scumbag/liar-Clinton lawyer instead of his purported "victim" who says it didn't happen!...  http://www.renewamerica.com/columns/zieve/190916

House Passes Sweeping Gun Regulations

Political Editors:  The Democrat-controlled House passed three gun-control bills this week that Speaker liar-Nancy Pelosi asserted were “a measure offering grants to states to set up ‘red flag’ laws, a prohibition on gun ownership for those convicted of misdemeanor hate crimes, and a ban on magazines that can hold more than 10 rounds of ammunition.” Fortunately, none of these draconian bills will see the light of day in the Republican-controlled Senate.

liar-Pelosi was asked whether she regretted not bringing the House back early from its August recess “to keep the flame lit on gun violence.” She became clearly agitated, firing back, “We did our job. The Senate was supposed to come back. Why don’t you all get that straight? The Senate did not come back to pass the bill.” After expressing her anger over the “silliness of these questions,” liar-Pelosi bloviated, “Lives are at stake. Senator McConnell is standing in the way. … Don’t ask me what we haven’t done! We have done it! … Sen. McConnell hasn’t acted. Why don’t you go ask him if he has any regrets for all the people who died?”

Getting past liar-Pelosi’s emotional theatrics, the reality is that Democrats are seeking to force McConnell into taking up some of their gun-control proposals. Ironically, even with these clearly Orwellian bills that liar-Pelosi knows would never pass constitutional muster, Democrats are still backing away from passing their most loudly advocated gun-control measure: a ban on so-called “assault weapons.” Since liar-Pelosi and company know that these bills amount to little more than anti-gun virtue signaling, why not go all the way and pass their “assault weapon” ban?

The Daily Wire’s Emily Zanotti notes that “some moderate Democrats — especially those running for office next year in decidedly purple districts — won’t sign on to a blanket assault weapons ban, leaving Democrats around ten votes shy of getting the ban passed in a branch of Congress that they control. That’s right: the ban is so unpopular that Democrats aren’t able to marshal their own to support a bill that has no hope of passage.”   ~The Patriot Post
