{ thefederalist.com } ~ How would one categorize a nation-state whose army gives a drug baron’s son to cartel members after suffering brutal losses in pitched battles?... The country whose firebrand leftist president apologized on television and said the army’s surrender to a drug cartel was the correct thing to do, because “we do not want war”? If the reports are correct, this is precisely what happened in Mexico, around the same time the Democratic presidential primary field was debating whether there should be more trillion-dollar expenditures in the U.S. budget. Instead, a failed state on the southern border of the United States should ring alarm bells in the Pentagon. A map in the BBC showed how Mexico is divided into four cartel zones, similar to warlords in Afghanistan or Libya. A few days back, Mexican National Guards surrounded drug lord El Chapo’s son in a house and after a heavy gunfight forced him to surrender and be arrested. Then all hell broke loose. Cartel members surrounded the house and forced security to retreat. The army was called in after heavy violence, and even they were fought to a standstill. While there were not many reports of this in American mainstream media, social media was lit with videos of the Mexican military being surrounded by the cartel members. There were also videos of Sinaloa cartel members in armored cars, with anti-tank grenade launchers, and heavy machine guns patrolling the streets of Mexican cities. In short, the balance of power passed to the hands of drug gangs, militias, and cartel members, who rioted, freed prisoners, and humiliated the national government. Needless to mention, this is not normal. International relations is based on mutual trust between governments, who are expected to keep the authority in a region, especially one as vital as Mexico. Under El Chapo’s cartel, Sinaloa has been the biggest supplier of drugs in the United States. Rand Paul alerted Americans about this in 2015 and 2016.Where is the rest of Congress on this? Why did Rand Paul fight alone? She answered, “Turkey?” She told him to redirect the question to the agency that ran the annex. Why Hamas Supports Erdogan's War

{ gatestoneinstitute.org } ~ Hamas, the Muslim Brotherhood-affiliated terror group ruling the Gaza Strip since 2007, is the only Palestinian party that has come out in support of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan's war on the Kurds in Syria... A statement issued by Hamas on October 14 said that the terror group "understands Turkey's right to protect its border, defend itself and remove threats harmful to its national security against the tampering of the Zionist Mossad in the region, as part of Israel's effort to undermine Arab and Islamic national security." Hamas also praised Erdogan for his "support for the Palestinian cause and the rights of the Palestinian people" and expressed opposition to "the Zionist and US presence in the region." Sami Abu Zuhri, a Hamas spokesman in the Gaza Strip, voiced support for Turkey. "The Israeli media campaign against Turkey is rude and unacceptable. Israel will remain the enemy and Turkey will remain in the hearts of Muslims," he wrote on Twitter. Another Hamas leader, Izzar al-Risheq, said that his group is "confident that President Erdogan has no ambitions in Syria and he only wants to preserve the security of his country." The Muslims, he added, need to "end their conflicts so they would have the time to confront the big challenge imposed by the presence of the Zionist enemy." Hamas's patrons in Qatar, the Gulf country that has long been serving as the Muslim Brotherhood's most hospitable base of operations, have also defended Turkey's war on the Kurds. According to Qatari Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman, speaking at the Global Security Forum meeting in Doha: "Weapons and training provided to Kurdish groups during the war against Daesh represent an imminent threat to the Turkish security... We can't heap the blame on Turkey as Ankara wants to clear its territory and stand up against terrorism. Turkey can't remain silent until terror hits its territory." Hamas's support for Turkey in its war against the Kurds contradicts its own claim that it does not meddle in the internal affairs of Arab and Islamic countries. It wasn’t a serious interview, it was a partisan attack. In fact, it was worse than that, it was disinformation. It’s not legitimate reporting to use anonymous, vague sources just to upset or confuse the person being interviewed. Greta Van Susteren was angry about it and she was right to be. Wallace wallowed in gossip and propaganda throughout the interview, telling Mick Mulvaney that some “well-connected” D.C. Republican told him there’s a 20 percent chance Republicans will vote to remove the President in the Senate: Fox’s Chris Wallace said a “well-connected” Washington Republican told him that there’s a 20 percent chance enough Republicans will vote to remove President Trump from office in an impeachment trial in the Senate. Wallace mentioned his source’s comments during an interview with acting White House chief of staff Mick Mulvaney on “Fox News Sunday.” Wallace cited an overwhelming House vote criticizing the president’s policies in Syria and an op-ed by Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) slamming Trump’s decision to withdraw troops from that country. He then said he had “talked to a very well-connected Republican in Washington, someone whose name you would know well, who says that if the House votes to impeach and it gets to a trial in the Senate, there’s now a 20 percent chance enough Republicans would vote with Democrats to impeach the president.” Legitimate reporter Greta Van Susteren blasted Wallace for it although she thinks highly of him. { thefederalist.com } ~ Perhaps the most momentous part of the Trump administration’s National Security Strategy (NSS) was its acknowledgment that the U.S. government’s historical premise... “that support for China’s rise and for its integration into the post-war international order would liberalize China” was wrong. Recent events indicate that not only was the theory underlying all U.S.-China policy for nearly 50 years incorrect, but that perhaps the opposite is true: Support for China’s rise and for its integration into the post-war international order has actually illiberalized America. Stated differently, there is a case to be made that since President Richard Nixon’s historic 1972 visit to China, the United States has become more like China than China has become like us. We may have been sowing the seeds of our own destruction. The National Basketball Association (NBA) is just one of many prominent Western industries as diverse as automobiles, fashion, and lodging that have cowed to the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) line, and engaged in self-censorship out of a desire for the almighty dollar. While the NBA is a particularly deserving target of ire, given the fact its social justice warriors have shown themselves to be hypocritical sellouts, one would be hard-pressed to find any entity with substantial profits or funding tied to China willing to permit the voicing of views that might rankle the CCP. “Stealth War: How China Took Over While America’s Elites Slept,” a new book by U.S. Air Force Brig. Gen. Robert Spalding (Ret.), confirms this assessment. Spalding served as the chief China strategist for the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, as senior U.S. Defense official and defense attaché to China in Beijing, and later in the Trump National Security Council (NSC), where he was the chief architect of the NSS’s framework for national competition. According to Spalding, even organizations that would seem to have a vested interest in exposing China’s malign behavior remain mum. Spalding writes that upon his arrival at NSC: I made it a personal mission to meet with many leading think tanks, nongovernmental organizations, and law, auditing, and public relations firms that dealt with China. I was eager to seek their help in exposing the Beijing government’s influencing operations and sanctioning of illegal behavior. Additionally, I hoped they would help me explore policy options to counter China’s economic malfeasance. Time after time, I was rebuffed. People at these organizations would talk with me, and many of them even said they agreed with my concerns, but they claimed they couldn’t help. Doing so, some of the more forthright people said, might anger their Chinese funders or business accounts. The list of organizations that refused to engage with me publicly in my official capacity was stunning. Top white-shoe New York law firms. Organizations with mandates to promote democracy, freedom, and human rights would refuse to support my mission. …They were, in essence, being manipulated by a foreign power that is America’s greatest enemy. Democrats' College 'Affordability' Act
Is Anything But
Political Editors: On Tuesday, House Democrats introduced their egregiously misnamed College Affordability Act. The bill is essentially a loan-forgiveness program, though it doesn’t necessarily cancel student loans outright. As The Daily Signal reports, “The College Affordability Act would cap monthly payments and enable students to enroll in an income-based repayment plan. Students who make regular payments would then have the remainder of their loan balances forgiven after 20 years.” So, irrespective of how much debt students might accumulate, they’ll be on the hook only for income-based repayment up to 20 years. Everything after that is forgiven (read: is picked up by taxpayers). And the bill would not only bail out students, but also parents who take loans to send their kids to college.
In addition, the act would change and expand the Pell Grant system, significantly increasing the maximum amount awarded as well as further incentivizing lawlessness by removing the current ban on prisoners — yes, prisoners — qualifying for these grants.
The bill would also create a $500 million grant program that’s inspirationally dubbed “America’s College Promise” and seeks to subsidize the cost of community college — again, at taxpayer expense.
We’ll say this for the Democrats: They’ve taken the fine art of euphemism to audacious new levels. Imagine, for example, if they were forced to sell to their constituents a more honestly named bill, such as “The College Loan Bailout Act” or “The Community College Subsidy Act.”
The estimated taxpayer cost for the College Affordability Act is $400 billion, but as is always the case in Washington it will certainly surpass that total. Finally, as the Signal notes, “[The act] includes absolutely no provision to drive down college costs or insulate taxpayers from students’ inability to pay off their loans. In fact, through increased access to income-based repayment, taxpayers are even more exposed.”
And here we thought this bill was about “affordability” rather than further subsidizing an outrageously overpriced enterprise. ~The Patriot Post
