gatestoneinstitute.org } ~ When the Palestinians launched the weekly protests along the Gaza-Israel border in March 2017, they said that their No. 1 goal was to force Israel to lift the "blockade" on the Gaza Strip... The protests, however, according to the organizers, have another goal: achieving the "right of return" for Palestinian refugees and their descendants to their former homes inside Israel. The protests, held under the banner "The Great March of Return," have since been hijacked by Hamas and other Gaza-based Palestinian armed groups who are using them to advance their political agendas. The weekly demonstrations are no longer aimed either at lifting the "blockade" on the Gaza Strip or paving the way for millions of refugees and their descendants to return to their former homes. On July 12, the weekly protests along the border with Israel were held under the banner of "No to negotiations with Israel, no to reconciliation with Israel and no to recognizing the Israeli entity." The Three No's appear based on the Khartoum Resolution issued at the conclusion of the Arab League summit convened three months after the 1967 Six-Day War between Israel and the Arab countries: No peace with Israel, no recognition of Israel and no negotiations with it. By choosing to hold the protests under the banner of the "Three No's," the organizers of the "Great March of Return" have again proven that the weekly demonstrations are not about improving the living conditions of Palestinians or easing restrictions imposed on the Gaza Strip. Instead, the message the organizers are sending to the Palestinians and the rest of the world is: "We don't recognize Israel's right to exist and therefore we will never make negotiate or make peace with it." Even some Palestinians have expressed astonishment over the Gaza protests' "Three No's," calling them "unrealistic" and "absurd."...

{news.usni.org} ~ The policy bill, which provides lawmakers a means for detailing their defense-related priorities, provides funding and regulatory guidance to the Pentagon... The bill passed on a 220-197 vote, with no Republicans supporting the measure. “For the previous 58 years, the NDAA process exemplified the bipartisan tradition and collaboration envisioned by the Founding Fathers. This year however, has been different. While the bill reflects the values of our new Democratic majority, the ultimate focus is – and will always be – securing a strong n} ~ ational defense and supporting the men and women who defend our nation. House Democrats did not lose sight of that fact throughout this process. Yet our Republican colleagues chose to abandon one of the last true bastions of bipartisanship, just because they didn’t get their way on 100 percent of the provisions in this bill,” Rep. Adam Smith (D-Wash.), the chairman of the House Armed Services Committee, said in a statement. House Republicans were concerned with the level of funding authorized by the FY 2020 NDAA. The House version approved $733 billion in defense spending for FY 2020. The Senate version, which already passed, authorizes $750 billion. Specifically, Republicans are concerned with what they consider cuts to personnel accounts, programs to deter Russia and China and programs to improve readiness. “Normally the NDAA is a product of bipartisan consensus that allows Congress to execute our most important constitutional duty. Unfortunately, partisan provisions in this bill have robbed it of bipartisan support. Through this bill, House Democrats are forcing our troops to pay the price for their political disputes with the president. From personnel accounts, where the NDAA cuts funding to meet an arbitrary topline, to military construction, where critical projects will go unfunded because House Democrats refuse to backfill funding used for border security, our troops will pay the price for Washington’s disfunction,” Rep. Mac Thornberry (R-Texas), the HASC ranking member, said in a statement earlier this week. The next step is for members of the House and Senate to meet in a conference committee to iron out differences between the two versions of the FY 2020 NDAA. “As we now move to conference with our colleagues in the Senate, I am hopeful that our work can return to the bipartisan tradition that distinguishes the Armed Services Committees,” Smith said in his statement. “I look forward to working with my colleagues as we continue to refine this legislation so that it not only honors our oath to protect and defend, but it also – and most importantly – continues to takes care of the single most valuable asset in our national defense strategy: our service members.”...  https://news.usni.org/2019/07/12/house-passes-fiscal-year-2020-national-defense-authorization-act-on-party-lines?utm_source=USNI+News&utm_campaign=c98238b248-USNI_NEWS_DAILY&utm_medium=email&utm_term=0_0dd4a1450b-c98238b248-231491269&mc_cid=c98238b248&mc_eid=3999f18767

freebeacon.com } ~ China's crackdown on ethnic Uighurs in the western part of the country includes a vast network of at least 124 concentration camps along with scores of labor camps and prisons... according to a dissident Uighur group. U.S. officials say there are also indications that China is expanding the use of the concentration camps in Xinjiang Province where at least 1 million people are being held, and as many as 3 million are part of a forced "reeducation" program by the Chinese government.  Researchers with the East Turkistan National Awakening Movement, a relatively new Uighur independence group, discovered the new camps during a nine-month open source intelligence gathering project that utilized commercial satellite images and reports people in the region. The camps are part of a Chinese Communist Party program to snuff out independence movements and any opposition to Beijing rule using mass incarceration and forced ideological indoctrination. On Wednesday, representatives of 22 nations issued a statement to the United Nations human rights body demanding China end the mass repression in western China. The letter was the first major international challenge to Beijing's mass incarceration program. "We, the co-signatories to this letter, are concerned about credible reports of arbitrary detention in large-scale places of detention, as well as widespread surveillance and restrictions, particularly targeting Uighurs and other minorities in Xinjiang, China," the letter said. Nations that signed the letter include Australia, Canada, Denmark, France, Germany, Japan, Britain, Austria, and Spain...  https://freebeacon.com/national-security/network-of-chinese-concentration-camps-for-uighurs-uncovered/?utm_source=Freedom+Mail&utm_campaign=cee8aca312-EMAIL_CAMPAIGN_2019_07_15_01_32_COPY_01&utm_medium=email&utm_term=0_b5e6e0e9ea-cee8aca312-45611665

freebeacon.com } ~ A scheme by Michael Bloomberg to punish oil producers by placing hand-picked environmental lawyers in attorney general offices could be breaking apart... The billionaire former mayor of New York City created a pipeline at New York University's law school called the State Energy and Environmental Impact Center (SEEIC). It grooms law students to become environmentalist attorney and then pays their salaries once they join state attorney general offices across the nation. Maryland Deputy Attorney General Carolyn Quattrocki said in a 2017 email to colleagues that the purpose of hiring SEEIC-sponsored lawyers was driven by partisanship. "The gist is that Bloomberg is funding through NYU some fellowship positions for midcareer environmental litigators to be farmed out to State Attorneys General to join the fight against Trump's rollback of our environmental protection laws and regulations," she wrote. While Quattrocki and Frosh disclosed their motivations in private emails to colleagues, other states went public about the partnerships. Some of Bloomberg's partners, however, are distancing themselves from the program amid inquiries from watchdogs, while others are denying their participation, The office of the attorney general (OAG) in Pennsylvania was listed in an early press release issued by the SEEIC. In 2017 Democrat Pennsylvania Attorney General Josh Shapiro boasted about the placements of many of the first "fellowship" attorneys. "We are delighted to hire a special assistant attorney general through NYU School of Law to work with our Chief Deputy Attorney General for Environmental Protection to take on and prosecute cases against anyone who breaks the law and harms Pennsylvanians and our environment," Pennsylvania Attorney General Josh Shapiro said in that press release from December of 2017. A Shapiro spokesperson denied that the office had partnered with Bloomberg. "We didn't participate in the program," the spokesperson said in an email to the Washington Free Beacon. The SEEIC also said it had the approval of Virginia Attorney General Mark Herring, who later admitted to wearing blackface...  https://freebeacon.com/politics/broken-bloomberg/?utm_source=Freedom+Mail&utm_campaign=cee8aca312-EMAIL_CAMPAIGN_2019_07_15_01_32_COPY_01&utm_medium=email&utm_term=0_b5e6e0e9ea-cee8aca312-45611665

longwarjournal.org } ~ Last week, Pakistan’s Counter-Terrorism Department charged Lashkar-e-Taiba leader Hafiz Saeed and 12 other key members of the group with money laundering and financing terrorist groups... If history is any guide, Saeed and his cadre will dodge the charges and continue to provide support to a wide range of terrorist groups, including al Qaeda and the Afghan Taliban. Saeed, his brother-in-law and Lashkar-e-Taiba deputy emir Abdul Rehman Makki, and 11 others were charged with “financing terrorism from the massive funds collected through non-profit organisations and trusts including Al-Anfaal Trust, Dawatul Irshad Trust, Muaz Bin Jabal Trust, etc.,” Dawn  reported. These non-profits established by Lashkar-e-Taiban which has been renamed Jamaat-ud-Dawa in an attempt to hide its activities, are “accused of financing terrorism by building huge assets/properties from the collected funds in Pakistan.” Dawn identified the 11 other Lashkar-e-Taiba leaders who were charged as “Malik Zafar Iqbal, Ameer Hamza, Mohammad Yahya Aziz, Mohammad Naeem, Mohsin Bilal, Abdul Raqeeb, Dr Ahmad Daud, Dr Muhammad Ayub, Abdullah Ubaid, Mohammad Ali and Abdul Ghaffar.” The Pakistani government is very likely taking action only because in 2018 it was placed on the Paris-based Financial Action Task Force “grey list” for turning a blind eye to money laundering and terrorist financing. Pakistan was given until May 2019 to take action and being further downgraded. Remaining on the grey list can hurt Pakistan’s economy and restrict its access to international financial institutions. Pakistan has ignored US and international designations of Lashkar-e-Taiba, its charitable fronts, Saeed, and the leadership cadre. Lashkar-e-Taiba is a key ally of al Qaeda, the Afghan and Pakistani Taliban and a host of other regional and international terrorist groups. Pakistan is years behind the curve in identifying Lashkar-e-Taiba fronts and charging its leaders. The US and Britain listed Lashkar-e-Taiba as a foreign terrorist group in 2001, and the United Nations followed suit in 2008. The US has named numerous Lashkar-e-Taiba leaders as global terrorists. The US State Department offered a $10 million reward for Saeed, and $2 million for Makki in 2012. Since 2010, the US has identified the following groups as Lashkar-e-Taiba fronts: Falah-i Insaniat Foundation, Jamaat-ud-Dawa, Al-Anfal Trust, Tehrik-e-Hurmat-e-Rasool, Tehrik-e-Tahafuz Qibla Awwal, the Al-Muhammadia Students organization, the Milli Muslim League and Tehreek-e- Azadi-e Kashmir. See LWJ reports, US designates Lashkar-e-Taiba’s charitable front as terror group, US adds 2 Lashkar-e-Taiba leaders, several aliases to terrorism list, and US adds Lashkar-e-Taiba student wing to terrorism list...   https://www.{/archives/2019/07/pakistan-charges-13-lashkar-e-taiba-leaders-under-anti-terrorism-act.php

commie-AOC's Chief: The Real Green New Deal — Socialism

Thomas Gallatin:  In a recent Washington Post story featuring Rep. commie-Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s chief of staff, Saikat Chakrabarti, he gleefully admits the real agenda behind the dubious Green New Deal. “The interesting thing about the Green New Deal,” Chakrabarti states, “is it wasn’t originally a climate thing at all.” He then adds, “Do you guys think of it as a climate thing? Because we really think of it as a how-do-you-change-the-entire economy thing.”

Chakrabarti recently met with Washington Gov. and Democrat presidential candidate Jay Inslee’s climate director, Sam Ricketts, to discuss their climate platform. He argued that Inslee’s focus on the environment was too limited. “I’ll be honest,” Chakrabarti said, “my view is, I still think you guys aren’t going big enough.”

While the revelation of commie-AOC’s intentions behind the Green New Deal is not surprising (given the text of the bill), what is surprising is how freely her chief of staff admits to it being a guise by which to further a socialist takeover of the economy. Chakrabarti only confirms what Mark Alexander observed earlier this year: “This behemoth ‘climate change’ charade is … about the implementation of socialist economic policies. That consequence is evident in the fact that the absurd mandates of the GND (as outlined in its FAQ document, which was quickly removed from public view) would result in catastrophic worldwide economic collapse.”

commie-AOC is an unapologetic socialist, but like all leftists, she cannot sell her socialism on its own merits, as none exist. Therefore, she co-opts a “problem” issue and proclaims socialism to be the only viable “solution,” when in fact nothing could be further from the truth. But her chief of staff let the cat out of the bag. It’s not really about the climate. It’s really about setting up a socialist totalitarian system in which the elites control everyone else.  ~The Patriot Post
