China Outlines Space War Plans

{ freebeacon.com } ~ China's strategy for developing advanced space weapons were disclosed this week in Beijing's first defense white paper issued in years... The defense strategy report produced by the People's Liberation Army was made public Wednesday and drops earlier veiled references by bluntly identifying the United States as Beijing's main adversary that is undermining world peace. The report—part policy statement and part propaganda—also claims the United States seeks "absolute military superiority." "The U.S. has adjusted its national security and defense strategies, and adopted unilateral policies," the report said. "It has provoked and intensified competition among major countries, significantly increased its defense expenditure, pushed for additional capacity in nuclear, outer space, cyber and missile defense, and undermined global strategic stability." Chinese propaganda outlets sought to portray the white paper as furthering Beijing's questionable assertion that the large-scale buildup of conventional, nuclear, space, and cyber weapons poses no threat. The white paper, however, bluntly warned that China is set to use military force against Taiwan if the self-ruled island seeks formal independence. Taiwan is a quasi-U.S. ally and the United States is obligated under the 1979 Taiwan Relations Act to defend it from mainland attack. Beijing, in another threatening announcement, said this week the PLA is prepared to dispatch forces to Hong Kong, the former British colony that has been rocked by anti-Beijing protests over a new extradition law seeking to undermine democratic rule. On space warfare, the PLA report states that threats to space "loom large" and as a result space security is now among eight vital Chinese strategic interests. Other key interests include deterring attacks, opposing Taiwan independence, and "safeguarding national political security"—a reference to the PLA's ultimate mission of keeping the ruling Communist Party of China in power. "Outer space is a critical domain in international strategic competition," the report said. While insisting China favors the peaceful use of space, the white paper states that China is developing "relevant technologies and capabilities" for safeguarding satellites while maintaining the ability to safely enter, exit, and openly use space....

UNRWA: Hypocrisy Is the Homage Paid to Virtue

Perhaps the most regaling if innocent demonstration is that of Prince Harry, the duke of Sussex, who most recently on July 31, 2019 gave a "barefoot" speech on climate change... at a secretive Google camp from which the media were barred in Sicily, the Valley of the Temples rented for $100,000. The meeting, "Davos by the Sea," at one of the largest spa complexes in Europe, was attended by the wealthy and celebrities, who included well known public-spirited individuals such as Leonardo DiCaprio, Naomi Campbell, Bono, Sacha Baron Cohen, and Orlando Bloom. The celebrities showed their concern for the planet by arriving in Palermo in 114 private jets, mega yachts such as David Geffen's Rising Sun, and expensive cars leaving a considerable carbon footprint. Prince Harry had already commented on the planet in an interview published in the September issue of British Vogue, guest-edited by his wife, Meghan Markle, duchess of Sussex. The prince explained, "We are the frogs in the water. ... We are the one species on this planet that seems to think that this place belongs to us, and only to us." Harry had already pronounced that as his contribution to environmentalism and to saving the planet, he would have a maximum of two children. "We should be able to leave something better behind for the next generation." However, his concern did not prevent him from ending his globe-trotting lifestyle or traveling from London to Birmingham, normally 127 driving miles, by private helicopter, nor Meghan from traveling by private jet to a baby shower in New York. More serious than these royal lavish occasions is an initial report from the Ethics Office on the head of UNRWA and on the behavior of some of its senior officials supposedly concerned with benevolent public activity. Sadly, they are accused of sexual misconduct, nepotism, and discrimination. The head of the organization, Commissioner General Pierre Krahenbuhl, a Swiss diplomat, is accused of excessive travel and for being away from his duty station in Jerusalem for considerable periods of time, during which he got a daily allowance. He is said to be responsible for abuse of authority, for personal gain, suppression of legitimate dissent, and, with his "inner circle," consolidating power, and disregarding agency rules by bypassing normal decision-making procedures. He promoted his lady friend, his senior aide Maria Mohammedi, and flew her, business class, around the world. The deputy commissioner, Sandra Mitchell, among other peccadilloes, promoted her husband to a lucrative job in the organization. As a result of criticism, she resigned in July 2019, as did the chief of staff, Hakam Shahwan. UNRWA has always been an anomaly. There is an organization, the High Commissioner for Refugees, UNHCR, set up in 1950, a global body to deal with displaced communities and stateless people, to find safe haven for those seeking asylum, to assist them to return home, or to integrate and resettle them with repatriation. With a staff of 16,000, its personnel work in 138 countries. It has resettled about 200,000 people, ending their statelessness. It claims that its problem is still to deal with the more than 50 million fleeing war and persecution. It is currently led by the Italian diplomat Filippo Grandi, who was appointed in 2016 for five years. Among its previous goodwill ambassadors are Richard Burton, James Mason, and Sophia Loren....

She doesn’t comprehend the fact that most Americans are quite satisfied with the economy under President Donald Trump... She certainly doesn’t get what the Republican tax cuts did for our job market and the money people keep in their paychecks every week. But if there’s one thing she does get, that the rest of her House caucus doesn’t, it’s that trying to impeach President Trump would be an exercise in political suicide. But it may be an inevitable suicide. A majority of House Democrats now support the opening of an impeachment inquiry against President Trump despite Speaker liar-Nancy Pelosi’s continued hesitance to act before concluding her caucus’s many ongoing oversight investigations. Representative Ted Deutch of Florida became the 118th House Democrat to come out in favor of opening an impeachment inquiry, according to Politico’s count. Deutch, a senior member of the Judiciary Committee, cited “substantial evidence” that Trump attempted to obstruct special counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation. “Although Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s testimony may not have been a summer blockbuster, it confirmed the damning conclusions of his report. The investigation revealed substantial evidence that President Trump obstructed justice. And that the special counsel did not exonerate him,” Deutch wrote in a column for the South Florida Sun Sentinel. Nope. It wasn’t Mueller’s job to exonerate the president. That’s why he didn’t. But failure to accuse Trump of either Russian collusion or obstruction of justice amounts to “exoneration” in layman’s terms. Mueller was brought in as a special prosecutor; his job was to discover whether or not the president committed crimes. He discovered no such thing. That’s the end of the ballgame, even if Democrats are loathe to admit it. And now, armed with even less than they had at the outset of the year, they want to move forward with this absurd impeachment inquiry. It’s astoundingly bad politics and that’s the least of what’s wrong with it. Facts are facts, and the fact is that the Senate will not convict Trump on impeachment, setting the president up for a blockbuster way to begin the general election campaign. The Democrats will look foolish again and they will have betrayed those voters who pulled the lever for scumbag/liar-nObama before they abandoned the party for Trump. If there is an opportunity to win those voters back, Democrats are bypassing it for the opportunity to do some grandstanding in Washington. Hey, it’s their funeral..

{ sultanknish.blogspot.com } ~ In March, DNC boss Tom Perez claimed that FOX News could not be trusted to host a “fair and neutral debate” because of the “inappropriate relationship” between President Trump and the news network.
In a FOX News interview, Perez accused it of having “put the thumb on the scale”.
And then the DNC awarded the first Democrat debate to MSNBC and NBC News.
Scale meet thumb.
Perez had claimed that FOX News had “pierced that line between editorial and your Sean Hannity shows.” The DNC had decided to pierce the line between editorial and conspiracy theories by accepting MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow as one of the NBC/MSNBC moderators alongside its news anchors.
Maddow had briefly become the public face of MSNBC, remaking it with disastrous results. In the Trump era, the formerly lightweight leftist pundit was reinvented as an obsessive conspiracy theorist. Maddow had barely paid attention to Russia before. Now, her show was built around finding a nexus between Trump and Russia while postulating that everything Trump did was done on Vladimir Putin’s orders.
On one show, she suggested that it may be that “the American presidency right now is the product of collusion between the Russian intelligence services and an American campaign.”
During the Democrat shutdown, she implied that Trump was trying to destroy the country on Putin’s orders. "If Russia did get a US president to act on their behalf against the United States. If you were Russia, what else would you want that president to do at this point?" she breathlessly fulminated. "The government is not just a vehicle that has sputtered to a halt, each passing day pours more sugar into the gas tank, making it harder and harder for this thing to ever get running again."
This was the unhinged conspiracy theorist whom the DNC thought should be moderating a debate.
The DNC’s Perez had justified his FOX News ban based on a hit piece by Jane Mayer that appeared in the New Yorker. Mayer was a regular on MSNBC and appeared on the lefty news network to promote the very hit piece that had been cited by Perez. Mayer had also appeared on Maddow’s show even though the New York Times had banned its reporters from the conspiracy show.
Some of Mayer’s biggest hits were done in collaboration with Ronan Farrow. The best known of these was a disastrous story about a second accuser targeting Justice Kavanaugh. Mayer went on MSNBC to discuss the allegations. Farrow’s original home had been MSNBC. His failed MSNBC show had been seen as part of the failed ‘Maddowization’ of the lefty news network.
But these days there’s an MSNBCization of the DNC.
Beyond Maddow, and the DNC boss citing an attack on the journalistic standards of FOX News by one of her guests as his basis for a ban, the rise of MSDNC occasioned protests from other news channels.
CBS, CNN, ABC, FOX and even C-SPAN are protesting a sweetheart deal between MSNBC and the DNC that grants the lefty news channel exclusive live rights to the weekend party convention in South Carolina. Other news networks face an embargo on video coverage. South Carolina Dems are claiming that MSNBC will provide the 2020 candidates with more coverage, but that doesn’t hold up for C-SPAN.
C-SPAN is a non-profit that practically exists to broadcast political speeches. The Dems aren’t barring C-SPAN because they’re worried that their candidate’s speeches won’t be aired and accessible.
They’re doing it because MSNBC has become the house news network of the Democrats.
Anchoring the MSNBC coverage of the event will be scumbag-Al Sharpton and Joy Reid. Both scumbag-Sharpton and Reid have an ugly history of anti-Semitism and other forms of bigotry. While Tom Perez had taken shots at Sean Hannity, he’s quite comfortable with scumbag-Sharpton, a bigot who had declared, "We taught philosophy and astrology and mathematics before Socrates and them Greek homos ever got around to it” and “if the Jews want to get it on, tell them to pin their yarmulkes back and come over to my house.”
That’s acceptable at the DNC. But FOX News anchors like Bret Baier and Chris Wallace aren’t.
Beyond the bigotry, scumbag-Sharpton was a former presidential candidate who had his own DNC speaking slot. He’s also a Dem kingmaker with presidential candidates routinely lining up to get his endorsement. At his National Action Network Conference, he welcomed 2020 Dem contenders to make their pitch.
Dems and their MSNBC allies have attacked FOX News as “State TV” over the friendliness of some of the editorial shows and other non-anchors to President Trump. But the Democrats giving MSNBC an exclusive, while locking out C-SPAN, to broadcast a party event anchored by a party activist is State TV.
A Democrat kingmaker is anchoring coverage of a Democrat event in an exclusive deal for MSNBC.
And the collusion between MSNBC and the DNC gets even uglier.
“Yesterday, I received a call from @DafnaLinzer who serves as managing editor of NBC/MSNBC politics. Dafna's conduct during the call was highly inappropriate and unethical. So what was the purpose of her call? She called me to bully me on behalf of the DNC,” Yashar Ali, a freelance reporter, tweeted.
Ali had picked up a scoop about the primary debate dates.
After he tried confirming the dates with the DNC, he received a call from Dafna Linzer. Linzer, the managing politics editor for MSNBC and NBC, had gotten a call from the DNC and took a "menacing tone" demanding that Ali hold the story until the DNC was ready.
"I realized that @DafnaLinzer, the head of all political coverage for NBC News and MSNBC wasn't calling to advocate for her network, she was calling to advocate the DNC's position. She wanted me to wait so they could call state party leaders," Ali tweeted.
"I couldn't believe what she was saying. Again, it was fine for me to print the story an hour later, beat her own network by three hours, she just wanted me to let the DNC inform state party leaders.”
“Why the hell did she care?" he asked.
The answer becomes much more apparent if you think of the MSNBC and DNC leadership teams as interchangeable figures with the same goals, but different functions under an umbrella organization.
DNC boss Tom Perez had accused FOX News of an inappropriate relationship with Trump. MSNBC is one long inappropriate DNC relationship interspersed with conspiracy theories and incontinence ads.
MSNBC had been born out of a strange hybrid relationship between Microsoft and NBC. The failed collaboration between a lefty tech giant and a news network to create a lefty echo chamber (Slate was once another Microsoft product) was ahead of its time in an era where Facebook co-founder Chris Hughes owns the New Republic, eBay founder Pierre Omidyar funds The Intercept and The Bulwark, Salesforce’s Marc Benioff owns Time and Amazon boss Jeff Bezos owns the Washington Post.
The convergence of the Democrats and MSNBC appears to be a more logical and inevitable merger.
MSNBC had long leaned leftward. And as the Democrats have tilted sharply in the same direction, it’s becoming more difficult to figure out where the DNC ends and MSNBC begins. Some are calling this new hybrid, DNCMSNBC. Others have opted for lighter portmanteaus like DNBC and MSDNC.
But, call it what you will, State TV is here. And at the DNC, MSNBC always has an exclusive.
