BETTER LATE THAN NEVER: National Review reports, “Planned Parenthood will refuse all Title X funding rather than comply with the Trump administration’s restrictions governing the discussion of abortion at clinics that participate in the program, the group announced Monday.” Erick Erickson called the development “a massive, massive victory for the pro-life cause” while also dolefully observing that Planned Parenthood “has no interest in helping poor women if it cannot offer to sacrifice their children to Moloch.”
MORE TAX RELIEF? “Several senior White House officials have begun discussing whether to push for a temporary payroll tax cut as a way to arrest an economic slowdown,” The Washington Post reveals. However, “Even though deliberations about the payroll tax cut were held Monday, the White House released a statement disputing that the idea was actively under ‘consideration.’”
WARRANTLESS SEARCHES: Last week, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 9th Circuit reaffirmed that “border officials may conduct suspicionless manual searches of cell phones.” But as Reason’s Damon Root uneasily writes, “The U.S. Supreme Court has long recognized a ‘border search exception’ to the Fourth Amendment’s normal warrant requirement. But the Court has yet to address whether that exception deserves to hold sway in the current era of smartphones and related high-tech devices.”
CHIEF OF PRISON BUREAU REPLACED: “Attorney General William Barr announced Monday the appointment of a new director of the Federal Bureau of Prisons following the shocking suicide of accused child sex trafficker Jeffrey Epstein inside a federal lockup earlier this month. … The change in leadership comes amid the fallout from the death of Epstein, 66, who hanged himself in his cell at the Metropolitan Correctional Center on Aug. 10 while awaiting trial on charges of sex trafficking and conspiracy.” (Fox News)
MORE WHITEWASHING: “Sen. Elizabeth dinky-Warren’s (D., Mass.) presidential campaign removed her DNA test ancestry video on Monday as her campaign attempts to put the issue behind her. The dinky-Warren campaign scrubbed their launch video where it showed dinky-Warren talking about a DNA test which was supposed to counter President Donald Trump’s ‘attacks’ on her heritage. The release of dinky-Warren’s DNA test results was not well received, as the test revealed she could be anywhere from 1/64th to 1/1024th Native American.” (The Washington Free Beacon)

SOCIAL JUSTICE WARRIORS PREVAIL: “New York Police Department officer Daniel Pantaleo has been fired, five years after he was filmed putting his arms around Eric Garner’s neck while trying to arrest him for allegedly selling loose cigarettes,” according to The Daily Wire. This despite the Justice Department opting not to charge the officer last month. Our Mark Alexander analyzed this case in 2014, ultimately concluding, “The case isn’t exactly black and white.”
VILLAGE ACADEMIC CURRICULUM: “Only half of all Americans now have a positive view of colleges and universities, according to a new survey from Pew Research,” Reason’s Robby Soave reveals. “The number of people who take a negative view has increased from 26 percent in 2012 to 38 percent in 2019. The change largely reflects a growing dissatisfaction on the right with the culture of college campuses. The percentage of Republicans who see value in higher education has collapsed in recent years, from 53 percent in 2012 to just 23 percent in 2019.” One explanation is because, as Campus Reform observes, “Social justice majors and other social justice-themed activities are becoming an increasingly regular occurrence on college campuses.”

{ thefederalist.com } ~ Nearly everything Democratic Reps. worthless-Ilhan Omar and worthless-Rashida Tlaib said in their two-woman production of “Israel is Evil” on Monday was untrue... Let’s, for now, focus on one of the duo’s central claims. worthess-Omar and worthless-Tlaib contend they were denied entry into the Jewish state because of their faith, while fellow sitting members of Congress were not. It’s simply untrue. Both worthless-Omar and worthless-Tlaib could easily have joined a group of 70 of their colleagues and met with Israeli and Palestinian Authority officials—if a trip is supposedly part of their “duties,” as they assert, to learn about the situation on the ground. Instead, they planned a separate trip to “Palestine” with an itinerary designed by Miftah, a group that has long praised suicide bombers and, as any good antisemites do, claimed that “Jews use the blood of Christians in the Jewish Passover.” You know, we hear a lot these days about how the GOP is infested with white supremacists, but I have yet to run across a single instance of an elected Republican member of Congress allying himself with group that spreads blood libel. I imagine such a pairing would be a pretty notable story. Even then, worthless-Tlaib, who hadn’t visited her poor Sity for 13 years before her election to Congress, had asked to see her on humanitarian grounds. Israel granted the request as long as worthless-Tlaib, now travelling as a private citizen, refrained from antisemitic BDS public protests during her stay. No country is under a moral obligation to issue visas to foreigners who actively engage in efforts to harm its citizens, much less abet their activities. And BDS’s goal is to bring economic ruin to the democratic Jewish state—not only to Netanyahu or to Likud voters or to “settlers,” but to every citizen in the country, including the nearly two million Arabs who live there. worthless-Tlaib must have agreed, because she signed a letter acquiescing to those terms on congressional stationary. Only once granted permission by Israel did she break into her performance mode, claiming that visiting her family without being able to engage in activism amounted to “oppressive conditions.”...

{dailycaller.com} ~ A Maryland detention center ignored a detainer request by ICE and released an alleged rapist from custody... the latest run-in between federal immigration authorities and the county since it enacted a “sanctuary city” executive order. Rodrigo Castro-Montejo, a 25-year-old Salvadoran national, was arrested by local authorities in Montgomery County, Maryland on August 10 and charged with second-degree rape and second-degree assault. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) placed a detainer request on him on August 12 because Castro-Montejo is living in the U.S. illegally, an agency spokeswoman told the Daily Caller News Foundation. However, the Montgomery County Detention Center ignored the request and released him the following day. News of Castro-Montejo’s release marks the latest national headline for the liberal enclave since County Executive Mark Elrich, a Democrat, signed an executive order that largely prohibits local law enforcement from interacting with ICE. The executive order forbids police from asking people about their immigration status, and it also prohibits them from cooperating with federal immigration authorities under most circumstances. The order, known formally as “The Promoting Community Trust Executive Order,” builds on sanctuary policies already established in the county. However, in just a month since the order was signed by Elrich, the Democrat-run county has attracted national attention for the arrests of illegal aliens accused of rape...

{ fdd.org } ~ On the night of January 31, 2018, Mossad agents broke into a nondescript warehouse in Tehran’s Shorabad district... Over the course of six-and-a-half hours, the Israeli spies – using torches that burned at temperatures of least 3,600 degrees – cut through safes that contained Iran’s clandestine nuclear archive, removing 55,000 pages as well as 183 compact discs that held another 55,000 files. They fled the scene by 5 a.m., just before the morning shift of Iranian guards would begin at 7 a.m. According to American and British intelligence officials, the files are genuine. In an April 2018 press conference, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu disclosed that Israel’s Mossad intelligence agency had conducted a raid on a warehouse in Iran the previous January removing a half-ton of files cataloguing Tehran’s efforts to develop a nuclear weapon. The covert archive contained a wealth of new information that contradicts longstanding assumptions about Iran’s nuclear program. While a 2007 U.S. National Intelligence Estimate judged “with high confidence” that Iran “halted its nuclear weapons program” in 2003, the archive shows that the program continued, albeit in a more circumscribed and diffuse manner. Specifically, the archive identifies additional nuclear facilities, equipment, and activities previously unknown to the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), the UN body tasked with monitoring Iran’s nuclear program and verifying its key nuclear-related commitments. Israeli officials estimate that the Jewish state seized only 20 to 50 percent of the archive’s contents, suggesting that the IAEA’s knowledge base likely has additional gaps. The IAEA harbors an obligation to remedy these gaps by securing prompt access to the facilities, equipment, and materials described in the archive. This responsibility stems directly from the IAEA’s legal mandate, as established by the multiple non-proliferation agreements that Iran has concluded. A careful review of these accords shows that the IAEA has no pretext for inaction or delay. Further investigation of Iran’s nuclear program remains necessary to ensure that no covert nuclear activity persists today. This report assesses that the IAEA, despite its clear duty, has not demonstrably satisfied its mandate. In the years since the finalization of the 2015 nuclear deal, formally known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), the IAEA has provided insufficient transparency and clarity about its inspections in Iran. This opacity raises questions about the diligence of the IAEA’s investigations – particularly its probe of sites, equipment, and activities documented in the archive. The agency’s approach also invites criticism that political considerations have interfered with its obligation to serve as an objective, technical body. In fact, the actions and public statements of IAEA leaders convey a hesitation to scrutinize key Iranian activities that potentially violate the JCPOA, lest the resulting evidence undermine the accord’s viability...

UN agency for Palestinians is too corrupt to save

{ thehill.com } ~ The UN Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA), which is dedicated exclusively to assisting Palestinians, has begun to lose the support of some of its most loyal donors... Following reports of widespread corruption and abuse at the highest levels of the organization, Switzerland, the Netherlands, and Belgium have suspended their contributions. This action may signal the readiness of other countries to pull their support if a full investigation confirms the initial allegations. What may be emerging is a rare opportunity to dismantle a wasteful organization whose ties to the Palestinian cause have protected it until now. An internal UNRWA ethics report leaked by the press in late July contained shocking allegations of “sexual misconduct, nepotism, retaliation, discrimination and other abuses of authority, for personal gain, to suppress legitimate dissent, and to otherwise achieve their personal objectives." UN investigators are now reviewing these initial findings. The internal ethics report found that UNRWA Commissioner-General Pierre Krahenbuhl created a senior advisory role for Maria Mohammedi, with whom he was romantically involved, allowing her to take business class flights with him across the globe. Krahenbuhl, Mohammedi and others circumvented regular decision channels and created a toxic work environment, according to the report. While Krahenbuhl is holding on, UNRWA’s deputy commissioner-general and chief of staff have resigned as a result of abuses separate from those allegedly committed by their boss. The corruption allegations come only a year after the U.S. decided to zero out its $360 million annual contribution to UNRWA, which covered around one quarter of the agency’s $1.2 billion budget or all of its original 1950 budget, accounting for inflation. There was ample cause for this action. As Swiss Foreign Minister Ignazio Cassis has warned, UNRWA is exacerbating the Israeli-Palestinian conflict by turning millions of Palestinians into permanent refugees. European leaders have traditionally brushed off such criticism, but the current investigations seem to be opening their eyes to UNRWA’s serious flaws. One way that UNRWA worsens the Palestinian refugee problem is by granting the descendants of the original Palestinian refugees inherited refugee status in perpetuity, a practice unheard of in other conflicts. Of course, increasing the number of refugees increases the amount of work for UNRWA and the size of the donations it can justify. Moreover, UNRWA has stifled Palestinian development and resettlement through aid dependency...

Denmark: How to Deal with Integration?

{ gatestoneinstitute.org } ~ Earlier this year, in his New Year's speech, Denmark's prime minister at the time, Lars Løkke Rasmussen, mentioned that religious parallel societies constitute a problem... and that immigrants need to learn to "put secular laws over religious ones". What, however, if, in the community involved, there seems no desire to do that? "When I was in high school", Rasmussen continued "there were around 50,000 people with a non-Western background in Denmark. Today, there are almost half a million. In one generation, our country has changed". Just how great are the problems was revealed in a recent survey, Integrations Barometer 2018, published by the municipality of Copenhagen. The Integration Barometer -- which measures the degree of integration in the municipality among young people with a non-Western background -- showed that almost one third of 18-29 year-olds (31%) believe that "religious and cultural laws must be adhered to, even though they may be contrary to Danish law". The issue, then, is whether these young people believe that Islamic sharia law should take precedence over Danish law. The statistic represents an increase from 2016, when a similar survey showed that 24% wanted sharia law. In addition, the number of youths who view democracy in a positive light has fallen from 86% in 2016 to 79% in 2018. "It worries me a lot that an increasing number of young Copenhageners do not support our democracy", said Cecilia Lonning-Skovgaard, Copenhagen's Mayor of Integration and Employment, to TV 2 Lorry. "I also think that it shows a general tendency for young people to question democracy, and that there are some environments in a big city like Copenhagen that draw the young people into another direction and try to influence them in a bad way". Those "environments" may have been unwittingly helped on their way by the Danish authorities themselves...

Dems' Political Strategy: Straw Man Trump
Political Editors: The straw-manning of a political opponent has long been the tactic applied by those who’s know their own position lacks the merits to defeat their opponent’s position. Over the years Democrats have increasingly applied this malicious tactic in their efforts to foist their socialist big-government agenda upon the American people. By claiming that Republicans and conservatives are motivated by nefarious ulterior motive for their policy positions, Democrats seek to convince Americans not to believe their own ears and eyes. Democrats and their Leftmedia cohorts continuously maintain that they are the only ones who can be trusted to tell the “truth” about what conservatives and Republicans really believe and want. And with President Donald Trump’s election victory this straw man tactic of the Democrats’ has gone into overdrive.
One of the latest examples comes from Democrat presidential candidate Sen. lowlife-Kamala Harris (CA) who unabashedly played the “Trump is a hate monger” straw man when she stated, “[Trump’s] been fueling the flames of hate and I’ve said recently, you know, on the issue of El Paso, you know, when people ask me is he responsible for those killings, well, no, I mean he obviously didn’t pull the trigger, but he’s sure been tweeting.” She further added, “that whenever and wherever that hate presents itself, that we will all speak out and speak up.”
However, lowlife-Harris is far from the only Democrat presidential candidate to play this game, as socialist-Beto O'Rourke blasted Trump as “a racist” who “stokes racism in this country” and agreed that responsibility for the El Paso attack fell “at the feet of” Trump. When questioned as to how Trump bears responsibility socialist-O'Rourke, like many of Democratic colleagues and the Leftmedia parroted intentionally misleading and inaccurate talking points, such as “Trump called Mexicans a bunch of rapists and criminals,” or “Trump told Congressional women of color to ‘go back to where they came from’” or “when Trump called Baltimore ‘rat infested’ he was actually referring to poor blacks.”
Based upon their fallacious straw man representations of Trump, Democrats indignant in their self-righteousness, loudly claim that Trump is threatening democracy and dividing the country. When in reality it is Democrats who have done nothing but preach division and stoke the fires of political hatred all because they are not in power. Democrats complain about a lack of civility all while labeling anyone who voted for Trump as having been motivated by hatred and fear. When Democrats, unwilling to honestly and accurately address the challenges facing the nation, label those who disagree with their socialist policy proposals as being only motivated by racism and xenophobia, is it any wonder so many Americans want nothing to do with them? ~The Patriot Post
