 'Control' of the Internet?
As we've said before, we believe the Internet is perhaps the greatest vehicle for disseminating the ideas of Liberty ever made available to mankind. Perhaps we're biased, being an Internet publication, but we don't think we're overstating things. That's why Internet governance and regulation is so critical. Indeed, that's why conservatives view with alarm any headlines about the U.S. "relinquishing control" of the Internet. No conservative wants to trust other nations — or the UN — to control something so fundamental, and any time Barack nObama is part of the discussion, it's bound to be a bad idea. But what's really happening?
A Los Angeles-based private nonprofit group called the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers, or ICANN, is a U.S.-government-chartered nonprofit corporation established in 1998, and it manages the Internet's domain name system (DNS). DNS is what causes typing "patriotpost.us" into your browser to bring up our website.
ICANN has been moving toward a "multi-stakeholder community" since its founding in 1998 — it was never intended to stay under U.S. government oversight forever. The nObama administration has now officially backed the plan after signaling for two years that it would. George W. Bush's administration worked toward the same goal. But congressional Republicans want to know how it serves U.S. interests to cede "control," or whether control could be regained once given away. Several in Congress are working to stop this transition.
Maintaining a free and open Internet is important, but Russia and China already don't need to have any say in regards to ICANN in order to create Great Firewalls and digital Iron Curtains. The Internet cannot be centrally controlled — that's the point. The question is whether it will remain generally free and open if ICANN isn't under U.S. government oversight. There are reasons to think it will, and reasons it might not. Internet inventors like Vinton Cerf still think the Internet is too centralized, and he, for one, thinks this ICANN move is a good one.

Another Second Amendment Clown Act by the
Ninth Circus  John J. Bastiat: "The great object of my fear is the federal judiciary. That body, like gravity, ever acting, with noiseless foot, and unalarming advance, gaining ground step by step, and holding what it gains, is ingulfing insidiously the special governments into the jaws of that which feeds them." —Thomas Jefferson, letter to Judge Spencer Roane, 1821
A little over two years ago, we wrote about a surprisingly rational decision by the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals, a.k.a. the "Ninth Circus" — so named for its consistently asinine decisions, especially those dealing with the U.S. Constitution and its interpretation. The title of our missive was "The Ninth Circus Gets One Right." Except not so fast. The wheels of injustice are slow but steady over at the Ninth, and after wending its way through the system as a 2-1 Ninth Circuit panel "win" for the Second Amendment, the surprisingly rational decision was reversed by the en banc court (i.e., the full court). In revisiting Peruta v. City of San Diego, the Ninth ruled that "there is no Second Amendment right for members of the general public to carry concealed firearms in public." It's a Supreme Court layup, if at this point a very dangerous one.
Under the court's twisted line of reasoning, though a Second Amendment right to keep and bear arms does exist — as Supreme Court decisions District of Columbia v. Heller (2008) and McDonald v. Chicago (2010) definitively ruled — under California law, applicants for concealed-carry licenses must show "good cause" to state law enforcement officials to actually exercise that right by carrying a concealed firearm.
The court then issued one of the most mealy-mouthed sentences in the history of jurisprudence: "The Second Amendment may or may not protect, to some degree, a right of a member of the general public to carry firearms in public." What? "May or may not"? "Some degree"? "Member of the general public"? "In public"?
Along those lines, let us just say that we may or may not, to some degree, understand anything the Ninth is trying to say. So let's recap: 1) A right to keep and bear arms exists under the U.S. Constitution; but 2) That right doesn't really exist in California. If it did, an utterly subjective "good cause" would not be necessary to exercise it.
As to the question of open-carriage of firearms, it should go without saying — at least in our minds — that if the Ninth is going to deny concealed carry (after all, who can meet the ever-exacting "good cause" standard?), despite SCOTUS having ruled a right to "keep and bear arms" indeed exists, then open-carry should be a-ok. Maybe, maybe not. To some degree. For some in the "general public." Sure. Whatever.
Dissenting Judge Consuelo María Callahan noted, "[T]he defendant counties' limited licensing of the right to carry concealed firearms is tantamount to a total ban on the right of an ordinary citizen to carry a firearm in public for self-defense. Thus, plaintiffs' Second Amendment rights have been violated." And that is exactly the effect this ruling would have if upheld by the Supreme Court.
Indeed, this sad tale of judicial wrongheadedness once again reminds us of how great the loss of Justice Antonin Scalia was, and how critical will be the election of the next president of the United States. A solid, centered Supreme Court is required to maintain constant vigilance against the stupidity of decisions like this one from the Ninth, which tends to have more than its fair share of such decisions. In any case, one thing is certain: If liar-Hilly Clinton wins, she'll appoint progressives to replace Justice Scalia and two or three more justices. And with that, we can all say goodbye to the Second Amendment as we know it.

{israelnationalnews.com} ~ The US-led coalition against ISIS has reportedly killed the terror group's leader, Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi... The Mirror reports that a news agency linked to ISIS released a statement noting: "Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi has been killed by coalition air strikes on Raqqa on the fifth day of Ramadan." Raqqa is located in Syria. Last week, an Iraqi TV station shared claims that Baghdadi had been wounded in a bombing. Colon Chris Garver, a spokesperson for the international coalition, acknowledged that he had heard rumors of Baghdadi's death, but he has "nothing to confirm this at this time"...This would be great news if its true. http://www.israelnationalnews.com/News/News.aspx/213613#.V2Au2pv2ZtE

{freebeacon.com} ~ An ethics watchdog filed a complaint with the Department of Defense asking it to investigate a Democratic congressional candidate for violating rules that apply to ex-military members running for political office... The Foundation for Accountability and Civic Trust asked the department’s Peter Levine, the acting undersecretary of defense for personnel and readiness, to investigate Mike Derrick, a retired Army colonel running to represent New York’s 21st district, after the Washington Free Beacon reported that some of his campaign materials did not include a disclaimer mandated by the Defense Department in a 2008 directive. “This is not a single violation, but rather a sequence of repeated and ongoing violations that should not be permitted to continue,” Matthew Whitaker, executive director for FACT and a former U.S. attorney, wrote in the Monday letter...  http://freebeacon.com/politics/watchdog-asks-dod-probe-whether-democrat-violated-department-directive/?utm_source=Freedom+Mail&utm_campaign=77542af2d3-WFB_Morning_Beacon_06_14_166_13_2016&utm_medium=email&utm_term=0_b5e6e0e9ea-77542af2d3-45611665

{thepoliticalinsider.com} ~ News just leaked out about Democrat Presidential candidate liar-Hilly Clinton that she doesn’t want you to know. We’re now learning about her close connection to the Islamic terrorist in Orlando Florida, Omar Mateen... While serving in the nObama administration, liar-Hilly Clinton worked closely with the President to defend Islamists from critics, and it just back fired. Recently retired Department of Homeland Security (DHS) agent Philip Haney reports that the mosque Mateen attended several times every week is the same mosque protected by liar-Hilly’s State Department after the Islamic terrorist attack in San Bernardino, California by Syed Farook and Tashfeen Malik. Haney’s case on the mosque drew concern from liar-Hilly’s State Department and the DHS’s Civil Rights and Liberties Office because they believed it unfairly singled out Muslims. His report was heavily edited and scrubbed by the State Department, and no action was taken to shut down the mosque: ...  http://www.thepoliticalinsider.com/breaking-hillary-clintons-connection-orlando-terrorist-exposed/?utm_source=SailThru%26utm_newsletter&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=TPI%20Newsletter%2006-14-16%20Curated/Horizon%20Tier%201&utm_term=Tier%201

{dailycaller.com} ~ Less than a week before Omar Mateen walked into an Orlando gay club and killed or wounded more than 100 people, the Homeland Security Advisory Council (HSAC) submitted its Countering Violent Extremism report to Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Jeh Johnson... The report instructs the DHS not to use any language that might be “disrespectful” to Muslims, including but not limited to the words “jihad,” “sharia” and “takfir.” The report was crafted by an HSAC subcommittee that Secretary Johnson created in November 2015. The head of that subcommittee, Farah Pandith, was appointed by Johnson in May 2015. The subcommittee published the report on June 9. In addition to combating violent extremism by reaching out to “gender diverse” Americans and teaching youth “appropriate online etiquette,” the report recommends that the DHS “avoid stigmatizing specific communities.”...  http://dailycaller.com/2016/06/13/homeland-security-instructed-to-combat-violent-extremism-with-political-correctness/

{aim.org} ~ Admitting that “the full facts” were still unknown, the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) nevertheless issued a statement on Sunday afternoon on “the senseless act of domestic terrorism in Orlando,”... saying that “it is not surprising that the LGBT community was targeted” because “This community has long been vilified by those opposed to LGBT rights and is too often the target of violent hate crimes.” This was a clever but dishonest way of trying to shift the blame to conservatives for terrorism committed by a devoted follower of Islam. Notice how the SPLC made no mention of the killer’s religious affiliation or motivation, or his acknowledgement of inspiration from ISIS. Remember that the SPLC is a group which has been consulted by law enforcement authorities at the federal and other levels, including the FBI, and is frequently cited by the media as a legitimate and authoritative “civil rights” organization...  http://www.aim.org/aim-column/blaming-conservatives-for-muslim-terrorism/?utm_source=AIM+-+Daily+Email&utm_campaign=email061416&utm_medium=email

{fromtheright.com} ~ Dana Perino of Fox News’ “the Five” is usually pretty calm and civil, but she could not control her anger at hoe the nObama administration continues to lie in order to cover up what it did to pass the Iran Deal and bamboozle the American public... This all stems from a White House aide laughing about how stupid the press was and how they were so easily manipulated to spread whatever narrative they needed to shove down the throats of the American public. After that they actually edited a video to destroy evidence of the lie – and now they’re pretending they have no idea why it happened. Dana is absolutely right – had anything like this happened under a Republican administration the press would be marching in front of the White House with torches and pitchforks. But because the media has a sympathy for nObama, they will hardly give this absurd cover-up the attention it deserves...  http://fromtheright.com/latest/dana-perino-rips-into-obama-for-these-outrageous-lies/

{sonsoflibertymedia.com} ~ President nObama, as I predicted, did not mention the phrase “Islamic terrorism” once in his brief remarks in the wake of the Muslim massacre at the homosexual nightclub in Orlando... And just as predictably, he blamed guns, even though there are 1.4 million Florida gun owners who did not commit mass murder over the weekend. If we step back, take a deep breath, and look at things objectively, there is no other conclusion we can draw other than that Islam is the problem. Islam has been the problem for Christian and Western civilization since 632 A.D., and there is no sign that the problem is getting better instead of worse...  http://sonsoflibertymedia.com/mr-obama-islam-not-guns/

{familysecuritymatters.org} ~ Florida certainly does, as made manifestly clear by the June 12 early Sunday morning attack that killed 49 and wounded 53 others in Orlando Florida - the most horrific terrorist attack in the United States since 9/11 and the deadliest U.S. mass shooting ever... A SWAT Team, three hours after Omar Mir Seddique Mateen of Fort Pierce, Florida initiated his attack, killed the sole terrorist and saved at least 30 others. While the nObama "powers that be" have not yet concluded that this clear jihadist attack was associated with Islam or ISIS in particular, Mateen pledged his allegiance to ISIS as his deadly rampage began via a 911 operator, and then he shouted "Allāhu Akbar" as he shot his victims. And ISIS has claimed credit. Sure sounds like an association with Islam to me - especially when we learn that Mateen was an FBI suspect for possible relationships with jihadist groups in 2013 as prompted by his two trips to Saudi Arabia and other activities several years earlier.  And there are disconcerting reports that he worked for a Security company with major Department of Homeland Security contracts, among other things, to protect federal facilities and 90-percent our nuclear power plants...

{gatestoneinstitute.org} ~ An article published in Al-Quds Al-Arabi on April 20, 2016 asked why Jordanian Prime Minister Abdallah Ensour fired Salame Hamad from his post as Minister of the Interior, despite Hamad having restored internal security and causing Jordanians to feel they were living in a country of law and order...The reason, it turned out, was that he was not decisive enough in dealing with the Muslim Brotherhood. While he did close some of its offices and place strict limitations on the number of Gazans visiting Jordan, he apparently did not deal with the movement emphatically enough, and had even met with its leaders in his office twice. One of the signs of this weakness in dealing with Islamists was Jordan's surprising recent backpedaling on an agreement instituted by the Jordanian Wakf office of religious endowment, which was brokered by U.S. Secretary of State John hanoi-Kerry. According to the agreement, video cameras would be installed in Jerusalem at the Al-Aqsa mosque. The footage would be transmitted in real time to both Israeli and the Jordanian authorities. Such an arrangement would improve security in Al-Aqsa, and expose and prevent hostile activities by the Muslim Brotherhood, Hamas, the Northern Branch of Israel's Islamic Movement and members of the Hizb al-Tahrir radical Islamist group...  http://www.gatestoneinstitute.org/7998/hamas-threatens-jordan

.
{tommclaughlin.blogspot.com} ~ As if understanding today’s America weren’t complicated enough in this wild election year, we have the Orlando Massacre to further confuse us. As people reveal their true character when they’re under stress, so do societies. We’re in the middle of an election that surprises everyone. Does liar-Hilly exemplify Democrats? Does liar-Trump exemplify Republicans? Each polarizes his/her their own party, not to mention in the country. Pundits need new roadmaps because everything has changed. It’s a wonder they dare provide analysis. I’d already written a column for this week, but I’m going to save it for another time because I have to address what happened Sunday.
.
1.jpg
.
There are at least four major themes: homosexuality, Islam, multiculturalism, and guns. I learned about the massacre at 6:00 AM Sunday while browsing online. I then turned on Fox News for a conservative perspective at about 8:00 AM and learned the scene was a gay nightclub and the perpetrator had Muslim connections according to an FBI spokesman. To watch how liberals were spinning it I tuned in to NBC’s Meet the Press at 9:00 where host Chuck Todd inserted coverage at the beginning of his show.
.
133271_5_.jpg
.
Todd must have known what the FBI was saying about the shooter’s ties to Islam, but never mentioned it. Instead, he brought on Pete Williams to emphasize the gay connection. Williams, who is homosexual, didn’t say anything about Islam either. Former NBC anchor Tom Brokaw also stressed gun control, saying he was brought up with guns in the midwest, but lost credibility when mentioning a non-existent assault rifle called an “AR-14” He likely confused the AR-15, used in Orlando, Sandy Hook, and San Bernardino, and the M14, used by Americans in Vietnam. No one else mentioned Islam until their token conservative, radio talk show host Hugh Hewitt, twice invoked ISIS. The rest of the panel, liberals all, kept bringing the conversation back to gun control and anti-homosexual hate crimes.
.
behead_those_who_insult_islam-1.jpg
.
Later I went back and forth between liberal-biased MSNBC which continued emphasizing gun control and hate crimes, and conservative-biased Fox News which continued emphasizing radical Islam. President nObama gave a speech never mentioning Islam either, stressing gun control. Just last week, the Homeland Security Advisory Council prohibited the Department from using the words “jihad”; “sharia”; “umma” and others because they would disrespect Islam, which Sharia itself prohibits. How can DHS fight radical Islam while complying with its mandates? With zero evidence, President nObama insists that Guantanamo’s existence is a recruiting tool for terrorists and must be closed. There’s voluminous evidence that ISIS’s existence is the real recruiting tool, but nObama only pretends to fight it.
.
ISIS_Obama_300.jpg
.
Referring to Florida law that allows concealed carry but not in an establishment serving alcohol, a conservative commenter online asked how many would be dead if Omar Mateen tried to shoot up a country-western bar instead of a gay bar. He seemed to be making the case that gun control is not the solution, but the problem. If the bar’s patrons were packing, Mateen would have been shot much sooner.
.
156884590%2B%25281%2529.jpg
.
Regular readers of this column know I used to be liberal until conservatives converted me by presenting facts that didn’t fit my liberal world view. Now I’m wondering if any of today’s liberals will question liberalism’s dedication to multiculturalism when presented with the paradox they’ve avoided for decades and which Orlando is rubbing it in their faces: Two or their most cherished victim groups — Muslims and homosexuals — are incompatible. It’s always been true, but the Orlando massacre is forcing them to confront it.
.
MEMRIExecuteGaysX.jpg
.
Muslims countries regularly execute homosexuals under Sharia Law. A poll by Washington DC’s Center For Security Policy reported in 2015 that most American Muslims believe they should have the choice of being governed according to shariah. Should we really be surprised when a Muslim fanatic shoots up a gay bar? His parents come from Afghanistan where 99% of the population supports sharia law and his father seems as crazy as he is. Seddique Mateen supports the Taliban and declared on his TV show in California that: “Our brothers in Waziristan Pakistan, our warrior brothers in Taliban movement, and national Afghan Taliban are rising up.” However, Afghan Muslim men are notorious for raping pubescent boys — another paradox.
.
they-dont-just-dance_1.jpg
.
How can Islam, a religion which teaches that homosexuals should be executed, that wives can be beaten by their husbands, and that no other religion should be allowed but Islam be compatible with the multiculturalism so beloved by liberals? According to the Washington Post, Omar Mateen’s ex-wife said: “He was not a stable person. He beat me. He would just come home and start beating me up because the laundry wasn’t finished or something like that.” Multiculturalism insists that all cultures are equal, but are they? Omar Mateen was a registered Democrat and evidence is emerging that he may have been homosexual as well.
