{ spectator.org } ~ Call it Corey Lewandowski’s “called shot.” In baseball legend, the New York Yankees’ Babe Ruth, in Game Three of the 1932 World Series against the Chicago Cubs, stepped to the plate, pointed to the center-field bleachers... and proceeded to hit a home run exactly where he had pointed. The Cubs players, who had been standing on their dugout’s steps and razzing Ruth relentlessly, fell back, astonished and humiliated. A reporter for the New York World-Telegram immortalized the moment, using terminology from the world of billiards. The headline: RUTH CALLS SHOT AS HE PUTS HOME RUN NO. 2 IN SIDE POCKET This bit of baseball lore became known as Babe Ruth’s “called shot” — and it came to mind watching former Trump campaign manager Corey Lewandowski testify in front of the Democrat-run House Judiciary Committee. Under Chairman scumbag liar-Jerrold Nadler, the committee has become infamous as a political clown show, with scumbag liar-Nadler’s fellow Democrats turning a committee with the job of an impartial oversight of the administration of justice into a partisan lynch mob intent on impeaching a president for no other reason than that he won the 2016 election. Corey sat down at the witness table, looked Chairman scumbag liar-Nadler and his fellow Democrats in the eye, and effortlessly hit a political home run, saying this of the Mueller report: It is now clear the investigation was populated by many Trump haters who had their own agenda — to try and take down a duly elected president of the United States. As for actual collusion or conspiracy, there was none. What there has been, however, is harassment of this president from the day he won the election. Bingo. Calmly, dispassionately — not to mention with a dash of humor — Lewandowski easily swatted away the rantings and railings coming in his direction. He rendered his questioners, like those long-ago Chicago Cubs mercilessly badgering and berating Babe Ruth, humiliated and scorned. The mass humiliation of scumbag liar-Nadler and his fellow Judiciary Committee Democrats was not lost on commentators on the liberal cable nets. Courtesy of Rush Limbaugh, who put together a montage of fuming anti-Trumpers and Never Trumpers that went like this...  https://{/corey-lewandowskis-home-run/?utm_source=American%20Spectator%20Emails&utm_campaign=a852c00ebb-EMAIL_CAMPAIGN_2019_09_19_02_13&utm_medium=email&utm_term=0_797a38d487-a852c00ebb-104608113

Trump to Meet With U.S. Senators
Thursday Over Biofuels Policy

{ ijr.com } ~ President Donald Trump will meet on Thursday with U.S. senators to discuss biofuels policy, Senator Bill Cassidy’s office said, as Trump attempts to find a compromise between Big Oil and Big Corn... on an issue that pits two constituencies that are important to Trump’s quest for a second term against each other. The meeting will continue a marathon of discussions the White House has held since last week with biofuel and oil refining advocates – including senators from key farm states and refining executives – to negotiate a deal over how much ethanol should be blended into the nation’s gasoline. Thursday’s meeting will likely focus on the demands of the oil industry. Trump had promised a package related to corn-based ethanol after his administration’s decision in August to exempt 31 oil refineries from their blending requirements caused outrage in the Farm Belt. Following last week’s meetings, Trump tentatively approved a plan to increase the amount of biofuels that refiners are required to blend each year under the Renewable Fuel Standard, to compensate for the exemptions, two sources familiar with the matter said. That plan is likely to upset the oil industry, which argues that increased blending requirements would put blue-collar refinery jobs at risk. Trump has inserted himself into the negotiations between the rival oil and corn industries to try to appease both groups, which helped win him the presidency in 2016 and could play a key role in his 2020 re-election bid. Under the RFS, oil refineries must use billions of gallons of biofuels like ethanol – a regulation intended to help farmers and cut U.S. petroleum imports. Small facilities of 75,000 barrels per day or less can secure waivers if they prove complying with the regulation would cause them disproportionate financial hardship...  https://ijr.com/trump-meet-senators-biofuels-policy/?utm_source=hs_email&utm_medium=email&utm_content=77038028&_hsenc=p2ANqtz-87UQWNUltiMa7B0kPpHIcmpt6qGjz4GPsFXljdxxBBI1illzVkEe4blabL8DBGAqPMqGDojv4VxN7rfNJ80IfGJ-NpVQ&_hsmi=77038028

An Israeli Deadlock: Bibi, Gantz,

{ spectator.org } ~ This week’s Israeli elections proved one thing. Not only is Israel the only democracy in the Middle East, it is also a global democracy on steroids... The election results showed some benefits, but mainly the faults, of a multi-party electoral system. The race started with 31 hopeful parties. At the end of the voting process Israel was left with nine political parties winning seats in the 22nd Knesset. Israel has to change the law by lifting the electoral threshold for allocated seats in a future Knesset from the current low bar of 3.25 percent to 5 percent. The outcome of a very tight race left the Israeli version of the Siamese twins able to form a narrow majority government but shackled from doing so by preconditions set by Benny Gantz, the leader of the Blue & White party, who said he would never sit in a joint government with a leader facing criminal charges. He was referring to the corruption charges faced by Likud leader and perennial Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Unless Gantz climbs down from his moral tree, Israel will remain frozen in a stand-off and could potentially face its third election in under a year. President Reuven Rivlin said he would not allow this to happen, but he has no constitutional role in deciding the outcome. The spoiler in the game is the blunt Russian Avigdor Liberman. He’s the tough guy calling the shots, having positioned himself as the leader of a centrist party winning nine decisive seats. This has enabled him to be the pivotal figure in the race to power. Likud is unable to form a right-wing government. The lack of mandates earned by the small right-wing and religious parties prevent that option without Liberman, and Liberman made issues with the religious parties part of his platform. No right-religious deal is possible without the heavy Liberman climbing down from his political tree. Gantz is unable to form a center-left coalition even with the Arab party without Liberman because Liberman has said he will not sit in any government with the current Arab politicians, most of whom he sees as anti-Israel antagonists and not part of the Israeli consensus...

{ lidblog.com } ~ Who would have thought that the Democrat who filled the seat left by Jeff Flake would be more supportive of the Trump agenda than her predecessor?... Progressives within the Arizona Democratic Party are upset that Senator Krysten Sinema cast some votes for Pres. Trump by confirming nominees and opposing the attempt to reinstate “net neutrality.” Sen. Kyrsten Sinema is facing a censure vote from the Arizona Democratic Party, brought by progressives who deem her politics too accommodating to President Donald Trump at the expense of Democratic values. Sinema, D-Ariz., built a moderate political brand during her three terms in the House of Representatives, which has extended to her early days in the Senate. According to the FiveThirtyEight Trump Tracker, she has opposed Trump while in the Senate 81% of the time. In the House, she supported Trump’s agenda 54% of the time. While Sinema’s political centrism has earned her Republican support, it has grated on progressives — some of whom silently protested her during a state fundraising dinner in downtown Phoenix. Democratic state committeemen will consider the resolution on Saturday, at the Arizona Democratic Party’s quarterly meeting. Democrats specifically cite her votes to confirm Attorney General William Barr and David Bernhardt, Trump’s nominee for Secretary of the Interior, as well as her opposition to the reboot of net neutrality...   https://lidblog.com/kyrsten-sinema/
Competition, Not a Cartel,
Can Cure What Ails Health Care

{ spectator.org } ~ Health care ranked as most important issue, save for “the ability to beat Donald Trump,” for Democratic voters in a FiveThirtyEight/Ipsos poll taken before and after last week’s presidential debate... The debate revealed fissures among the party’s presidential aspirants on health care. commie-Bernie Sanders pronounced his desire that “every American has health care as a human right and not a privilege.” But under the senator’s “Medicare for All” scheme, private health insurance becomes illegal. Would any American regard it as in keeping with the First Amendment if the government limited all 330 million of us to one church or one newspaper? The senator’s conception of rights, several opponents seemed to say, is wrong. “While commie-Bernie wrote the bill, I read the bill,” Amy Klobuchar quipped. She objected to Medicare for All forcing about half of Americans off their existing private insurance. “I don’t think that’s a bold idea,” the Minnesotan noted. “I think that’s a bad idea.” Mayor sicko-Pete Buttigieg said he supported “Medicare for all who want it.” He objected to the one-size-fits-all quality of commie-Sanders’ plan. “I trust the American people to make the right choice for them,” he told commie-Sanders. “Why don’t you?” loose lips liar-Joe Biden balked at the price, estimated to eclipse what the federal government currently takes in in revenues. The former vice president pointed out, “Nobody’s yet said how much it’s going to cost the taxpayer.” commie-Sanders and Sen. Elizabeth dinky-Warren, who supports his plan, pushed back. Vermont’s junior senator railed against “the drug companies and the insurance companies.” dinky-Warren explained, “I’ve never met a person who likes their insurance company.” Given that insurance companies issue bills to consumers, this necessarily makes them unpopular. But the majority of costs come from hospitals 33 percent and physician and clinical services 20 percent, according to the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). We want to kill the messenger. Those primarily responsible for the message — $25 for two aspirin pills, $120 for a cloth sling, $57,000 for a knee replacement — somehow not only escape our wrath but also win our admiration. Hospitals gouging patients occurs most glaringly in places where hospitals operate as a monopoly and in emergency situations. The common denominator in both circumstances involves the inability to compare and shop. In a paper published earlier this year in the Quarterly Journal of Economics, academics at Yale, Penn, MIT, and Carnegie Mellon note hospital price increases for the privately insured when competition decreases. “Prices at monopoly hospitals are 12% higher than those in markets with four or more rivals,” their abstract reads...

Hilarious Lewandowski Hearing

Thomas Gallatin:  President Donald Trump’s former campaign manager, Corey Lewandowski, appeared before the House Judiciary Committee on Tuesday in a hearing that proved to be little more than a partisan snipe fest, humorous though it was. Democrats, led by committee chairman scumbag liar-Jerry Nadler (NY), were continually frustrated by Lewandowski’s refusal to answer their leading questions and partisan rants. He clearly relished the opportunity to punch back at their fallacious “Trump deserves to be impeached” narrative.

With his opening remarks, Lewandowski effectively called out the Democrats’ charade. “Sadly, the country spent over three years and 40 million taxpayer dollars on these investigations,” he noted. “It is now clear the investigation was populated by many Trump haters who had their own agenda — to try and take down a duly elected president of the United States. As for actual ‘collusion,’ or ‘conspiracy,’ there was none. What there has been, however, is harassment of the president from the day he won the election.” From there, he repeatedly strung Democrats along, giving their “questions” the respect they deserved — which is to say none at all. The hearing was a circus, and Lewandowski treated it like one.

Republicans also took the opportunity to call out Democrats for their purely partisan anti-Trump agenda. Rep. Doug Collins (R-GA) observed, “I’ve never seen a majority so amazed with packaging in all my life. You know why? It’s because they can’t sell what’s inside. … They can’t sell the product so they keep packaging it differently.” Collins then sneered that the hearing “has become ‘Let’s Read the Mueller Report’ for audio book.”

Collins also cogently observed that the real reason behind the hearing was a desperate attempt to play up a narrative because Democrats don’t have the votes necessary to move forward with impeachment. As with the New York Times’s vacuous hit piece against Justice Brett Kavanaugh, scumbag liar-Nadler and company are holding hearings proclaiming Trump to be guilty of a crime that none of their so-called evidence substantiates. So, like a snake-oil salesman, scumbag liar-Nadler is left desperately attempting to convince Americans to buy the fraud he’s selling.

scumbag liar-Nadler ridiculously asserted, “This is a cover-up, plain and simple. If it were to prevail, it would upend the separation of powers envisioned by our Founders.” The trouble for scumbag liar-Nadler and his gang is the obvious question: a cover-up of what? We have Robert Mueller’s report that found no evidence of conspiracy to commit collusion between the Trump campaign and Russia. The failure of scumbag liar-Nadler and company to answer this basic and fundamental question is why he doesn’t have the votes even within his own party to initiate impeachment.

At the end of the day, nothing has really changed. Democrats didn’t uncover any new evidence as they continued to prattle on about “obstruction” and a “cover-up.” Republicans once again took the opportunity to highlight the fact that Democrats are so obsessed with trying to take down Trump that they have ignored the real issues facing the country.   ~The Patriot Post
