Grassley: Timeline for The Kavanaugh Confirmation

{ rickwells.us } ~ Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh is expected to appear for hearings before the Senate Judiciary Committee in September... followed by a final confirmation vote in early October, according to GOP Sen. Chuck Grassley of Iowa. Grassley, who chairs the Judiciary Committee, told conservative radio host Hugh Hewitt that he hopes Kavanaugh will join the Court by the start of its coming term. “All I can tell you at this point — and maybe a week from now I can be more specific — is sometime during September,” Grassley said. “But the earlier, the better, and if these documents coming from the archives and from George W. Bush’s presidential library and other things get up here soon…we can have a hearing.” “If we could get this all done by October 1st when the Supreme Court starts its new fall session, that would be ideal,” he added. “But I think we can get it done soon after that if we don’t get it done by October 1st.”...

Voter Rolls Continue to Show Registered Non-citizens

{ thenewamerican.com } ~ The Washington Times has reported that non-Americans continue to be found on voter rolls in alarming numbers, despite continued claims by liberals that voter fraud is a non-existent problem... In some of these cases, the individuals are unaware that they’ve been registered to vote, adding fodder to claims that voter fraud is often an orchestrated effort to not only sway polls but to advocate for allowing non-Americans to vote in elections. According to the Public Interest Legal Foundation (PILF), non-Americans are being added to voter rolls in key battleground states such as Pennsylvania and Virginia. PILF found that of those numbers, a significant portion have been able to cast their ballots. In 2017 in Virginia alone, 5,600 people on the rolls in Virginia were found to be non-citizens, a third of whom voted in previous elections as well. PILF contends that this could be easily avoided if states required individuals to prove voter eligibility before allowing them to register. “Our voter registration system masks non-citizens and allows the opportunity to vote until they decide to self-report at their own peril. All of this could have been prevented if states actually verified citizen eligibility upfront,” Logan Churchwell, communications and research director for the foundation, told the Times. As noted above, in some cases, non-Americans are unaware that they’ve even been registered to vote. Case in point: Elizaveta Shuvalova, a Russian citizen who only last year became an American citizen, was shocked to learn that she was registered as an eligible voter in 2012 and added to the San Francisco voter polls despite having never registered to vote and only recently being granted citizenship...

His Critics Have Not Blamed Him for the California Fires Yet

{ spectator.org } ~ It has been a pretty good week for Donald Trump. The economy is growing faster than anyone on the left or in the middle or among the Never Trumpers believed possible... Inflation is low and employment is at record highs. Moreover, the President and the European Union reached an understanding on trade last week that signals the likely end of a trade war, at least with Europe. Ferocious fires continue to burn out of control on the California countryside, yet no one has had the temerity to blame the fires on the President or even on Melania. President Trump has been compared to Adolf Hitler, Joseph Goebbels, Benito Mussolini, and, of course, Richard Nixon by his critics. Thus far the President has not been compared to Stalin by them, but one would not expect it. Many of them still have a warm spot in their hearts for Stalin or “Uncle Joe” as FDR was given to calling the vaunted Man of Steel. Over the weekend I am told the President was also compared to a mafia Don by Maureen Dowd, though I have not verified the comparison as I no longer find la Dowd amusing to read. Yet as I go to press, the President has not been blamed for the California fires or even for Leslie Moonves’ problems with women, many of whom have now apparently changed their minds about his good intentions, in some cases after decades of reflection. Good show, Mr. President! Stay out of California and the Moonves business. Actually, the news about our President gets even better. Apparently Mr. A.G. Sulzberger, the hereditary publisher of the New York Times, had lunch with him in the White House on July 20 — I do hope his presidential advisers were nearby to counsel him on the proper use of his cutlery. At any rate, Sulzberger has informed the American public via an official New York Times edict that he notified the President “that his the President’s language was not just divisive but increasingly dangerous.” And Sulzberger went on to warn his host that “this inflammatory language is contributing to a rise in threats against journalists and will lead to violence.” He gave this lecture despite the fact that most of the violence by far has been against Trump supporters and even against Republican office holders, for instance Senator Rand Paul and several congressmen, most notably Congressman Steve Scalise. What planet does Sulzberger inhabit?...

Venezuelan President Finally Admits That

Socialism is Broken, Economy Is Destroyed

{ westernjournal.com } ~ Food and medicine shortages, frequent power blackouts, lack of running water... Welcome to a day in the life of virtually every citizen of Venezuela, thanks to a failing economy, hyperinflation and an autocratic government whose socialist policies have been an utter disaster. Just about everyone in the world knows that Venezuela’s socialist model has been a failure. Now, the country’s president has admitted it as well  — sort of. “The production models we’ve tried so far have failed and the responsibility is ours, mine and yours,” Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro told members of his ruling congress Tuesday. While Maduro may have admitted failure, he’s still not necessarily taking the blame. He believes or at least tells his citizens that many of the country’s economic problems stem from the U.S. “empire” trying to undermine his administration through military intimidation and economic sanctions. “Enough with the whining… we need to produce with or without outside aggression, with or without blockades, we need to make Venezuela an economic power,” Maduro said. “No more whining, I want solutions comrades!”...What do you think of that commie-Sander.

Strzok Demanded ‘Expanded Powers’ Before Joining Mueller Probe

{ saraacarter.com } ~ Anti-Trump FBI Agent Peter Strzok demanded expanded powers before joining the special counsel’s Russia investigation... requesting the ability to “declassify” information in a series of recently revealed emails. According to Fox News, Strzok insisted on “preserving his security clearance and powers he held as a deputy assistant director” before signing-on to Mueller’s probe into allegations of Russian election interference. “Broadly, I need to be able to act at least in the capacity of my old CD [counterintelligence division] DAD [deputy assistant director] job – approve NSLs [national security letters], conduct [redacted] declassify information, [redacted] agent travel, requisitions, etc. Of those, the most problematic and one of the most essential is declassification authority,” Strzok wrote in an email to the FBI counterintelligence chief in July 2017. “In answer to your initial question, while assigned to the special counsel’s office, you will retain your CD DAD authorities to include declassification authority,” fired back the FBI boss. “Assuming the 7th floor approves, you will remain on CD’s books as a fourth (floating) DAD. When you move on from your DAD position, your DAD slot will revert back to HRD [human resources department],” he added...

by Thomas Gallatin:  President Donald Trump declared at a Tuesday rally in Florida, “If you go out and you want to buy groceries, you need a picture on a card. You need ID.” Cue the Leftmedia fact-check freak out. Headlines across the nation reacted similarly to the Chicago Tribune’s, which read, “Trump at rally makes false claim on photo IDs for groceries.” But if you buy, for instance, a six-pack of beer with your groceries, Trump is spot on. Intentionally missing the point of Trump’s broadly accurate remarks, the mainstream media saw an opportunity to dismiss outright Trump’s clear message: The best and most practical way to defend the integrity of U.S. elections is through voter ID laws.

             In context, Trump’s full statements were aimed at the very common experience of every American when making a purchase — they are asked to produce a photo ID. Here is the full context of what Trump said:
               In some states, dummycrats-Democrats are even trying to give illegal immigrants the right to vote. They want to give them the right to vote. And what about all those people that are waiting in line for seven, eight, nine, 10 years, trying to get into our country? They don’t have the right to vote.
               We believe that only American citizens should vote in American elections. Which is why the time has come for voter ID, like everything else. Voter ID.
               You know, if you go out and you want to buy groceries, you need a picture on a card. You need ID. You go out and you want to buy anything, you need ID, and you need your picture. In this country, the only time you don’t need it, in many cases, is when you want to vote for a president, when you want to vote for a senator, when you want to vote for a governor or a congressman. It’s crazy. It’s crazy.
                dummycrats-Democrats and the Leftmedia have been sounding the alarm over threats to the integrity of our nation’s elections ever since Trump won the presidency “colluded with Russia to steal the election.” Specifically, they point to Russian meddling that involved posting disinformation on social media sites and hacking liar-Hillary Clinton’s and the dummycrats-DNC’s emails, neither of which was proven to have changed a single vote. And yet for years dummycrats-Democrats have fought every effort to actually protect the integrity of elections by screaming racism every time voter ID legislation is proposed.
               In fact, as Trump pointed out, dummycrats-Democrats are the ones actively seeking to destroy the integrity of elections by seeking to register noncitizens to the voter rolls. In San Francisco, Russian national Elizaveta Shuvalova found out that she had been added to the voter rolls back in 2012 even though she did not become a U.S. citizen until 2017. Upon finding out that her name was on the voter rolls, Shuvalova said, “I’ve never registered for anything in my entire life. This is news to me.” Yet the San Francisco County voter log shows that in 2012 Shuvalova was registered as a dummycrats-Democrat.
               So while dummycrats-Democrats and the mainstream media label Trump a liar and bemoan his supposed lack of effort to secure America’s elections, the real issue here is that dummycrats-Democrats obstruct voter ID laws, the most practical and cost-effective way to actually secure the integrity of our nation’s elections, while advocating for registering noncitizens to vote. That’s blatant hypocrisy.
