Mueller may have lied to Congress
by Breck Dumas
theblaze.com } ~ Congressional Republicans say Former Special Counsel Robert Mueller may have lied during his testimony before the House Intel and Judiciary Committees last month... and a new report shows there is evidence to back up the claim.  The allegations were detailed in a report — including documentary evidence —published by  RealClearInvestigations on Wednesday. Reporter Paul Sperry provided newly-released court documents indicating that Mueller might have made his brief press conference in May "as damage control after a federal judge privately threatened to hold his team in criminal contempt of court over what she called misleading language in his final report about Russian government interference in the 2016 election." Indeed, the day before Mueller made his public appearance on May 29, Judge Dabney Friedrich scolded the special counsel for implying that accused "trolling" firms run by Russian citizens were linked to the Russian government without providing evidence for such a link.
Friedrich ordered the prosecution under threat of contempt to clarify that its allegations "remain unproven." During Mueller's press conference he emphasized that the indicted Russians were "private" entities. According to RealClear Investigations, that apparently satisfied Friedrich. The judge wrote in a July 1 opinion "that Meuller had 'demonstrated' the government had complied with her order with his statements to the media." But when Rep. Tom McClintock (R-Calif.) questioned Mueller during the former special counsel's testimony, the congressman asked, "Why did you suggest Russia was responsible for the troll farms, when in court you've been unable to produce any evidence to support it?" Mueller refused "to get into that any further."  McClintock noted, "In fact, the judge...considered holding prosecutors in criminal contempt. She backed off, only after your hastily called press conference the next day in which you retroactively made the distinction between the Russian government and Russian troll farms. Did your press conference on May 29th have anything to do with the threat to hold your prosecutors in contempt the previous day for publicly misrepresenting evidence?" "No," Mueller responded. McClintock told RealClearInvestigations of Meuller's answer, "It certainly doesn't pass the smell test," adding "If he lied, he's guilty of perjury and lying to Congress. I think this would be of interest to the U.S. attorney investigating misconduct in this matter and the inspector general's office."...

US brings ISIS fighters home for trial, but
extremists could benefit from

washingtonexaminer.com } ~ The U.S. is bringing home citizens who joined the Islamic State to stand trial, but some Western European and other nations refuse to... and a new watchdog analysis says ISIS could benefit from their inaction. This decision to let ISIS-joining citizens avoid justice leaves approximately 800 Europeans among the 2,000 foreign ISIS fighters from 50 countries in legal limbo in northeast Syrian detention camps run by the Syrian Democratic Forces, a U.S.-allied coalition of mostly Kurdish militias, where 10,000 ISIS fighters are believed to be held. The Pentagon’s inspector general report, released Tuesday, warned that the SDF does not have the capability to “indefinitely detain” thousands of ISIS fighters in what are described as “pop-up prisons.” Only seven countries — the U.S., Bosnia and Herzegovina, Italy, Kazakhstan, Kosovo, Morocco, and North Macedonia — announced they will bring back fighters to face charges. Italy is the only Western European country to do so. France complained about death sentences handed down in Iraq against a dozen French ISIS members, and the U.K. is stripping citizenship from fighters. Outside of Europe, the rest are mainly from former Soviet republics, the Middle East and North Africa, and South and Southeast Asia. President Trump has repeatedly urged Western European countries such as Britain, France, and Germany in particular to take back homegrown militants to "put them on trial" for their crimes. Ambassadors Jim Jeffrey and Nathan Sales, who focus on ISIS and counterterrorism, urged U.S. allies last week to take responsibility for their homegrown fighters. Sales said this crisis is a priority and that the U.S. is leading by example and wants other countries to repatriate and prosecute. Sales said the U.S. brought back five U.S. ISIS members four men and one woman, with one convicted and four pending charges...

by timesofisrael.com ~ Foreign Minister Israel Katz said Tuesday that Israel was involved in a US-led naval mission to provide maritime security in the Strait of Hormuz... where Iran recently seized merchant ships. Speaking at a closed session of the Knesset Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee, Katz said Israel was assisting the mission with intelligence and other unspecified fields, the Ynet news reported. He said the mission was in Israel’s strategic interest of countering Iran and boost ties with Gulf countries. According to the Israeli news site, Katz told the committee that he instructed his ministry to work to include Israel in the mission after a recent visit to Abu Dhabi. The foreign minister was said to have discussed this at the time with an unnamed senior Emirati official, with whom he discussed the “Iranian threat.” Katz also reportedly praised Britain’s announcement Monday that it would join the mission, making it the only country so far to officially do so. The report did not specify whether Katz said Israel would send naval vessels to take part in the US-led mission. A report from the Kan public broadcaster last month said that Israel was not expected to send ships, but would provide intelligence...

U.S. Air Force prepares for
more airstrikes in Somalia

patriotnewsalerts.com } ~ Somalia has already seen as much activity in 2019 from U.S. airstrikes as it did during all of last year... However, reports now indicate the U.S. Air Force is ramping up to conduct even more airstrikes against terrorists in Somalia in the very near future. The uptick in airstrikes is an effort by this administration to help the Somali government obliterate terrorists without risking the lives of American soldiers. In 2018, a total of 47 airstrikes were launched in Somalia. So far in 2019, 47 airstrikes have already been conducted, with more on deck to occur soon. Colonel Chris Karns, the spokesman for U.S. Africa Command, stated, “The 47 for 2019 are all in support of the Federal Government of Somalia.” “It is imperative that pressure is maintained on violent extremist organizations to create conditions for further political and economic development in Africa,” he added. In the most recent airstrike, which was conducted on July 27, military officials believe a key ISIS member was killed while sustaining no civilian casualties. The goal of these strikes is to keep ISIS off-balance while at the same time providing an opportunity for the local government to obtain a stronghold in the area. In addition to these airstrikes, U.S. forces are working with local forces to fight these terrorists on the ground. As stated many times, such efforts would be wasted if local forces are not also engaging these terrorist forces. The training being provided will put the local soldiers on a far different level from what ISIS and Al-Shabaab militants are used to dealing with when encountering local forces.

bizpacreview.com } ~ Through a Freedom of Information Act request filed in January, the watchdog group Judicial Watch has obtained proof that 10 of 14 FBI employees... who were referred to the Department of Justice’s Office of Professional Responsibility for leaking sensitive or classified information remain gainfully employed with the bureau.  “No wonder the FBI was leaking so profusely,” Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton said in a statement following the public release of this proof on Tuesday. “Collectively, these documents show lenient treatment for evident criminal activity. Only four of the 14 employees found to have made an unauthorized disclosure were dismissed from the FBI. And even though Andrew McCabe was fired and referred for a criminal investigation for his leak, no prosecution has taken place.” JW announced it received records of 14 referrals of FBI employees to the organization’s Office of Professional Responsibility (OPR) for the unauthorized disclosure of sensitive or classified information. https://t.co/hqeQru5K6q pic.twitter.com/a1aZMun0Pb During the FBI’s 2016 investigation into the scumbag/liar-Clinton Foundation, then-FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe ordered a subordinate to leak information about the investigation to The Wall Street Journal. Two years later, the Department of Justice Inspector General found that McCabe had performed the leak so as to “advance his personal interests at the expense of department leadership.” The problem is McCabe was never truly held accountable — i.e., prosecuted — and would have even retired with a large pension had then-Attorney General Jeff Sessions not fired him in March of 2018...

redstate.com } ~ After President Donald Trump drew attention to Baltimore, some of his supporters went down to West Baltimore to assist with a cleanup effort... The group posted pictures of the effort with before and after photos and found some interesting things along the way. According to OANN, the group was led by activist Scott Presler, who lead over 100 volunteers after the controversy first arose in the media. Presler said his cleanup effort started with a simple tweet about going to clean up Baltimore, even if it’s just by himself. The tweet went viral, and before he knew it the effort had a slew of volunteers ready to go. The residents themselves were highly grateful and didn’t seem to be angry at Trump whatsoever. In fact, at least one of them didn’t understand why people were angry with Trump for bringing attention to it. The clean-up crew came across some interesting trash that really showed how long it had been sitting there for. This one newspaper seemed to have been lying around since scumbag/liar-nObama’s first election to the President. There were also posts showing the before and after efforts of the clean-up crew...  https://www.redstate.com/brandon_morse/2019/08/06/trump-supporters-clean-west-baltimore-thankful-residents-defy-media-narrative/?utm_source=rsmorningbriefing&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=nl&bcid=7220442bc3498cb5e2d68f3cb4d11680

Liberal media slam Trump supporter who led volunteer clean-up effort in Baltimore

by theblaze.com ~ Rather than join the social media melee about Baltimore's problems, Trump supporter Scott Presler decided to do something about it... He organized a massive volunteer event, inviting "Americans to help Americans" in cleaning up the neighborhoods of West Baltimore. On Monday, at least 170 volunteers showed up from all over the country to haul away almost 12 tons of trash. In response, media outlets, such as The Baltimore Sun, slammed Scott and the group of "right-wing extremist" volunteers, saying the effort was nothing but a political ploy for President Donald Trump. Scott joined Pat Gray and Stu Burguiere filling in for Glenn Beck this week on the radio program Wednesday, to discuss his inspiration for organizing the Baltimore event and why he says his motivations were not political. "I was inspired by President Trump's tweet. There was a lot of talking going on — everybody was whining, complaining. Nobody was actually doing," Scott said. "I put out one tweet — just one tweet — saying, 'I'll go to Baltimore, even if it's me on the street corner all by myself, and I'll pick up trash.' And that one tweet went viral, and people all across the country were saying, 'Scott, how can I contribute? What can I do? How can I support your efforts?' And so, I never thought that Monday was going to be a nationwide effort, but it truly was." Scott emphasized that "the people of Baltimore love their city" and praised the local people who jumped in to help the clean up effort. "The city is forgetting its own people," he added. "These are the forgotten citizens of Baltimore."...

by clarionproject.org ~ The U.S. is engaged in a showdown with Turkey over Turkish President Recip Erdogan’s threats to “eliminate”America’s Kurdish and Christian allies in northeast Syria... Erdogan says he will invade northeast Turkey “very soon” to “eliminate all threats to its national security,” a commonly used euphemism by the Islamist president against the Kurds and other minority groups which comprise the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF). Erdogan views the SDF — America’s allies who eliminated ISIS — as a threat to Turkey due to the Kurd’s aspirations for sovereignty. An attack would also threaten the safety of U.S. forces working with the SDF in the area. It would also mean that the Kurds would not have the capacity to guard the 15,000 foreign ISIS fighters they have captured, as every soldier would be needed for the fight against Turkey. Although Erdogan has been making the threats for a number of months, in recent days, the Turks appear to have opened a section of the border wall, making way for an invasion...
