{washingtonexaminer.com} ~ President Trump will declare a national emergency this week to build more border wall on the southern U.S. border, Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., announced from the floor Thursday... McConnell said Trump would declare the emergency as he signs a border security compromise bill that Congress is expected to pass Thursday night. That bill lets Trump spend $1.375 billion on border fencing, but Trump has said for weeks he may declare an emergency if Congress doesn't give him the $5.7 billion he was looking for. "He will also be issuing a national emergency declaration at the same time, and I've indicated to him that I'm going to ... support the national emergency declaration," McConnell said on the Senate floor. McConnell added he told Trump he supports his use of a National Emergency Declaration to win more border barriers. The House and Senate are scheduled to clear the spending bill today. Trump has indicated this week he will sign the bill even though it falls short of the money he wants, because he believes he has the authority to use pre-existing funding to build more border wall. Democrats and some Republicans do not back the president's idea of using his executive authority to reallocate funding. Many Republicans said they want more information about how it would be accomplished.
Here’s what Trump should do
with the border deal

{gopusa.com} ~ The bipartisan committee on border security has come up with a deal for President Trump just days before the next government shutdown. But should he sign it? Is it a good deal? Let’s dive into the details… So, after weeks of negotiations, here is what the 17-member bipartisan committee came up wtih: * $1.375 billion for physical barriers * 55 miles of new fencing * Border Patrol may use any current design but not concrete wall * Number of ICE detention beds is maintained at current level * No cap on detention beds, thus more funds could be used later for more beds * $1.7 billion increase in overall DHS spending for technology, ports of entry security, customs officers, and humanitarian aid. Sean Hannity has called it a bad bill. So has Ann Coulter. Rush Limbaugh think it’s good. Here’s what the president should do: Forget the Republican rhetoric of this being a “down payment.” It’s a bad deal. But it’s a congressional deal, and Trump has already set his terms with the American people. If he can move the Democrats from $0 to $1.375 billion, then take it and fund the rest through other channels. Sign the bill, but reject their “deal.” What do you think he should do?...  http://www.gopusa.com/?p=65054?omhide=true
Senate Dems Finally Forced to Admit
There’s No Evidence of Russia Collusion

{bongino.com} ~ A report by NBC News reveals that Senate Democrats are finally admitting that their beloved Russia collusion narrative has crumbled... The report cites comments made last week by Senate Intelligence Chairman Richard Burr (R-N.C.), who told CBS News that their investigation found no evidence of collusion. “If we write a report based upon the facts that we have, then we don’t have anything that would suggest there was collusion by the Trump campaign and Russia,” he said. He continued, “If I can finish tomorrow, I would finish tomorrow. We know we’re getting to the bottom of the barrel because there’re not new questions that we’re searching for answers to.” NBC spoke with Democratic Senate investigators on condition of anonymity and the outlet reports that they “did not dispute Burr’s characterizations” to CBS. “We were never going to find a contract signed in blood saying, ‘Hey Vlad, we’re going to collude,'” one Democratic aide told NBC...

Judge doesn't accept privacy as reason to immediately block census citizenship question

{thehill.com} ~ A federal judge Friday said privacy concerns were not a sufficient reason to immediately block a question about citizenship from the census, declining a request to offer a preliminary injunction... “The Court will deny the plaintiff’s motion for a preliminary injunction,” wrote Judge Dabney L. Friedrich. She argued that the Electronic Privacy Information Center, which requested the injunction, did not sufficiently prove that the government needed to do a “privacy impact assessment” before it could add a question to the census. Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross first announced in March of last year that he would add a question about citizenship to the 2020 census. “The Bureau did not act contrary to the E-Government Act by deciding to collect citizenship data before conducting, reviewing, or releasing a PIA addressing that decision.” she wrote. “Nor have the defendants 'unlawfully withheld' agency action by declining to conduct or release a PIA earlier than they were required to under the statute.” It is still unclear whether the citizenship question will appear on the 2020 census because other lawsuits to block it are still pending...  https://thehill.com/blogs/blog-briefing-room/news/429278-judge-doesnt-accept-privacy-as-reason-to-immediately-block

{jpost.com} ~ Hamas is attempting to recruit West Bank and Jerusalem residents to join its ranks via social networks and television, with an emphasis to attract those who carry Israeli papers... Shin Bet said on Wednesday. Recruiters use social media such as Facebook alongside Al-Aqsa TV as means to recruit Palestinians, including women, to carry out attacks within Israel. The Hamas-run television channel had been used to transmit coded messages between the recruiters and their would-be agents. By placing a coffee cup in an agreed upon moment or citing a specific verse from the Quran, the recruiters were able to gain the trust of their targets. Hamas showed a great deal of interest in recruiting Palestinian residents of Jerusalem who have Israeli papers and can travel in the country freely, unlike West Bank residents who were asked to carry out stabbing attacks or suicide-bombing missions those holding Israeli ID's were asked to  photograph sites Hamas thought to be important.  Security services made several arrests and were able to prevent the attacks.  https://www.jpost.com/Israel-News/Hamas-attempts-to-recruit-West-Bank-Jerusalem-residents-via-satellite-580520

Dems’ Abortion Lies
by BETSY MCCAUGHEY

{spectator.org} ~ Democrats fighting to expand a woman’s “right to choose,” no matter how far along her pregnancy, claim late-term abortions are rare and done only when the woman’s health or life is at stake or the fetus has a fatal condition...
That’s false. Here’s the truth: At least twelve thousand late term abortions are done every year in the U.S., and almost none out of medical necessity. Fetal abnormalities “make up a small minority of later abortions,” according to Diana Greene Foster of the University of California, San Francisco, lead investigator of the largest ever study of women seeking late-term abortions. Foster reports that threats to the health of the mother are even rarer. The study found women’s reasons were all over the place, including travel considerations, expense, indecision, and disagreement with the father. Sixteen percent of abortion facilities terminate pregnancies that are 24 weeks along  out of the full 40-week term, when many fetuses are viable outside the womb, according to the Congressional Research Service. Democrats are trying to make it even easier to get late-term abortions in states like New Mexico, Massachusetts, Vermont, and Virginia...  https://spectator.org/dems-abortion-lies/?utm_source=American%20Spectator%20Emails&utm_campaign=9f30dd4808-EMAIL_CAMPAIGN_2019_02_13_05_27&utm_medium=email&utm_term=0_797a38d487-9f30dd4808-104608113

by Nate Jackson:  Green New Deal proponents have some big dreams. One of them is “investing in … clean, affordable, and accessible transportation; and high-speed rail.” The FAQ section says the plan aims to “build out high-speed rail at a scale where air travel stops becoming necessary.” Fortunately, we have a real-world example of high-speed rail in America to see how well it will work. Let’s go to the tape.

“The project, as currently planned, would cost too much and take too long,” declared Democrat California Gov. Gavin Newsom in his State of the State Address this week.

Oh.

So, after current construction on one leg is done, Newsom laid the track for abandoning the boondoggle, though state Democrats rushed to insist he’s not killing the statewide plan.

Reason’s Scott Shackford writes of the California train, “Voters approved a ballot initiative in 2008 that set aside a $10 billion bond to begin the project of building a high-speed rail line from Los Angeles to San Francisco with the promise that more funding would come through from the feds or from private sources, that the train would not require subsidies to operate, and that it would help fight climate change.” Indeed, Barack scumbag/liar-nObama’s infamous “stimulus” redistributed $3.5 billion to California for the train. Gavin’s not entirely giving up primarily because he’s “not interested in sending” that money “back to Donald Trump.”

Not to be completed until at least 2033, the latest estimate for the train’s price tag was $77 billion after initial estimates pegged it at $33 billion. In reality, it would probably end up costing well over $100 billion.

Newsom’s lack of enthusiasm for his predecessor Jerry Brown’s beloved project isn’t new, but the timing of his comments couldn’t have been worse for Green New Deal proponents. Doubly so as Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell declared (with a smirk) that the chamber will actually vote on the resolution to “give everybody an opportunity to go on record and see how they feel about the Green New Deal.”

Dan McLaughlin quips, “If something is too expensive to build once, why not build it everywhere in the country instead?” He’s obviously joking, but don’t be surprised if that’s exactly the argument trotted out by GND chief engineer commie-Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.  ~The Patriot Post
