Media Editors:  Immigration & National Security

CENSUS EXECUTIVE ORDER: “President Trump is expected to sign an executive action to attempt to add a citizenship question to the 2020 U.S. census, according to an administration official, a move that would prompt immediate challenges in court.” (The Wall Street Journal)

STRIKE TWO: “A second U.S. judge has rejected a Department of Justice request to replace its legal team in cases on the 2020 census as the Trump administration tries to add a contentious citizenship question.” (Reuters)

COMING DOWN THE PIKE: “Immigration raids that will target thousands of undocumented immigrants in cities across the US are scheduled to begin on Sunday, [The New York Times] said Thursday. The raids, which are backed by President Trump, will target families who recently crossed into the US and who have been ordered deported.” (New York Post)

DETENTION CENTERS UNDER FIRE: “House lawmakers on Wednesday heard emotional testimony from a Guatemalan woman seeking asylum in the United States whose two-year-old daughter contracted a lung infection while at an Immigration and Customs Enforcement detention center in Texas and died shortly after their release,” Fox News reports. Speaking of detention centers, the Washington Examiner says, “Border officials in El Paso, Texas, this spring began separating migrants in federal custody based on nationality due to hostility and tension between Central and South American detainees who were being held in the same cells and even areas of facilities, according to several federal agents. The practice continued at least into June.” It’s almost as if cultural differences and assimilation matter.

DOUBLE STANDARDS: “The Democratic-led House Oversight and Reform Committee deleted tweets this week that used scumbag/liar-nObama-era photos of border detention facilities in an effort to slam President Trump’s treatment of illegal immigrants.” (The Washington Times)

A ROYAL HASSLE: “Iranian boats tried to impede a British oil tanker near the Gulf — before being driven off by a Royal Navy ship, the Ministry of Defence has said. HMS Montrose, a British frigate shadowing the BP-owned tanker, was forced to move between the three boats and the tanker, a spokesman said. … Iran had threatened to retaliate for the seizure of one of its own tankers, but denied any attempted seizure.” (BBC)

Government & Political Theater

BRAYING JENNY CAGE MATCH: “The public spat between Rep. commie-Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-NY, and Speaker liar-Nancy Pulosi, D-Calif, got a lot nastier on Wednesday, with the freshman congresswoman suggesting that the speaker is ‘singling out’ her and her colleagues based on their race.” (Fox News)

ACOSTA ACCOSTED: “Labor Secretary Alexander Acosta defended his actions in the 2008 plea deal arranged for accused sex trafficker Jeffrey Epstein in a Wednesday news conference,” The Federalist reports. “Acosta argued that his office proceeded appropriately based on the evidence that got Epstein jail time and registration as a sex offender.” Meanwhile, “House Democrats summoned … Acosta to an oversight hearing to explain his role in helping accused sex trafficker Jeffrey Epstein escape a major prison sentence more than ten years ago,” according to the Washington Examiner. The hearing will occur on July 23.

ON SECOND THOUGHT… “The Trump administration is dropping a plan to curb billions of dollars in annual rebates that drugmakers give middlemen in Medicare, a proposal it had said would drive down the prices consumers pay for prescription drugs.” (The Wall Street Journal)

Other Notables

DOW MAKES HISTORY: “The Dow Jones Industrial Average rallied to a record high on Thursday … after testimony by Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell that signaled easier monetary policy could be implemented later this month. The 30-stock average broke above 27,000 for the first time in its history, before trading just below that level.” (CNBC)

HANDOUTS FOR ILLEGALS: “California has become the first state in the country to offer government-subsidized health benefits to young adults living in the U.S. illegally. The measure signed by Gov. scumbag-Gavin Newsom on Tuesday extends coverage to low-income, undocumented adults age 25 and younger for the state’s Medicaid program.” (NPR)

TAXING TECH: “A French tax on tech companies was approved by parliament on Thursday after the Senate approved a final version of the bill in defiance of a U.S. investigation. … U.S. Trade Representative Robert Lighthizer on Wednesday announced an investigation … amid the Trump administration concerns that the measure unfairly targets U.S. tech firms. The digital services tax would apply a 3 percent levy on tech firms with at least 750 million euros (about $845 million) in global revenue and 25 million euros (about $281 million) of digital sales in France.” (Fox Business)

Barr Is Right: The Trump-Russia Conspiracy
Is ‘Bogus,’ And Mueller Proved It

By David Harsanyi
thefederalist.com } ~ In a recent interview with The New York Times, Attorney General William Barr reiterated his intention to find out why the scumbag/liar-nObama administration launched an investigation...B into the Republican Party presidential candidate’s campaign during the 2016 campaign. Now, if the political parties in the sentence above were reversed, we would be in the midst of the biggest scandal in our lifetimes. As things stand, however, we are again compelled to argue over semantics. And one Barr quote, in particular, has gotten Democrats and their media allies agitated.“What we’re looking at is: What was the predicate for conducting a counterintelligence investigation on the Trump campaign?” Barr asked. “How did the bogus narrative begin that Trump was essentially in cahoots with Russia to interfere with the U.S. election?” The usual suspects found it “dishonest” that the AG would refer to a narrative that has been debunked by an aggressive two-year independent counsel as “bogus.” “Barr offers yet another slanted quote about the Russia investigation” a Washington Post headline reads. It bears repeated that the Mueller investigation couldn’t uncover a scintilla of evidence showing that the Trump 2016 campaign “colluded” with Russia to win the election. There is not a single Mueller indictment linked to Trump’s 2016 campaign. None of it for a lack of trying. The prevailing Russia narrative was, much like Birtherism, “bogus.” “But he’s not talking about the broader political debate over it,” The Post’s Aaron Blake points out, “he’s talking about it in the context of law enforcement. He’s tacitly ascribing the ‘bogus narrative’ to the investigators.”...

What Would Colleges be Like If SATs
Were the Sole Admission Criterion?
0AJWosTh5w1vxvqSYNQaF05qGIlOt8JE3sU0CFIfsDj_AFTYZjeIU8n7dXUmXhbn_MnyikFfcTXbvtYZchXIBM9WFhFi8NTVAX2EZpBLjjBIfx6JCnk=s0-d-e1-ft#%3Ca%20rel%3Dnofollow%20href=?profile=RESIZE_710xBy Peter Skurkiss
americanthinker.com } ~ Many bar and dorm room conversations probably have centered on what colleges would look like if SAT scores were the sole criteria for admission... People have had their suspicions and cite anecdotal observations but now Georgetown University has quantitatively answered the question as least as far as elite universities go. Anyone with a passing awareness of today's college admission policies knows that the student makeup would change if academics were the sole criteria. How much they would change is the question. As to whether using just SAT scores -- i.e. academic performance -- is good or bad is another matter. Back to the Georgetown report. It claims the percentage of blacks and Hispanics would fall sharply from 19 percent to 11 percent. The whites student population would rise from 66 percent to 77 percent.  And surprisingly, Asian students would fall from 11 percent to 10 percent. The study goes on to say that many of the whites in these select college would lose their seats to other better qualified white students. In other words, the student mix would change noticeably. There are a number of reasons why higher academically performing students lose seats to others. There are legacy admissions and sport scholarships. Both these skew the college population downward on the academic scale especially when it comes to big money-making sports like football and basketball. However, the greatest factor is a commitment to racial diversity. College administrators will literally go to any length the prove they are 'woke.' Zero Hedge noted that black and Latino college enrolment is almost twice what it would be based on "merit" alone. And this is before the College Board introduces its so-called "adversity score," which is specifically designed to increase the minority presence in universities, to accompany a student's SAT result. Administrators twist and turn the wording of their admission standards to make sure that a certain number black and Hispanic students gain entrance to their schools. No matter what they say, the prevailing policies are a system of de facto racial quotas and are blatantly discriminatory.  Ben Shapiro writes that racial diversity is a driving force in college admissions. He cites a Wall Street Journal article that says UCLA is committed "closing the gap between the haves and the have-nots by admitting have-no-qualification minorities over meritorious students."... https://www.americanthinker.com/articles/2019/07/what_would_colleges_be_like_if_sats_were_the_sole_admission_criterion.html

{thefederalist.com} ~ When the Supreme Court delayed the addition of a question on citizenship status to the 2020 census, it called on the Commerce Department to provide a new rationale for including it... President Trump has indicated that his administration will press ahead on this issue. Fortunately, there is a compelling rationale for including the question on the census. This is the need to measure how far the apportionment of the U. S. House of Representatives and the states’ legislatures has deviated from the constitutional gold standard of “one person, one vote.” Traditionally, seats in the U. S. House of Representatives and state legislatures and votes in the Electoral College, which equal the states’ representation in Congress have been allocated based on gross population numbers, including non-citizens and even illegal residents. Yet these non-citizens do not vote or at least they are not supposed to. The result is that citizens living in areas with large numbers of non-citizens have more legislative representation per capita than citizens living where there are lower numbers of non-citizens. This violates the fundamental principle that each voter’s vote should count equally. These deviations from what could be best described as the “one voter, one vote” principle comes from the uneven distribution of non-citizens among and within our states. The Census Bureau’s American Community Survey in 2014, which asked about citizenship status, found differences ranging from 14 percent of California’s population who are non-citizens to less than 1 percent in West Virginia. As a result, California, the first sanctuary state, has five or six more members of the House and consequently Electoral College votes through counting its non-citizen population than if House seats and Electoral College votes were based only on the nation’s citizen population. The ranges can be equally large within states. For example, the ACS found that non-citizens make up 17.6 percent of New York City’s population, but only 5.2 percent of the rest of New York state. Based on these differences in non-citizen population, New York City has one more seat in the U.S. House, two or three more seats in the New York state senate, and at least five and probably more seats in the state Assembly than it would have if apportionment were based on New York’s citizen population. This gives New York City residents such as Donald Trump, scumbag-Bill de Blasio, and me significantly more voting power than New York voters who live outside the city. Such distortions of voting power within states can be found across the country...  https://thefederalist.com/2019/07/10/not-asking-citizenship-census-gives-democrats-votes-congress/?utm_source=The+Federalist+List&utm_campaign=af59798663-RSS_The_Federalist_Daily_Updates_w_Transom&utm_medium=email&utm_term=0_cfcb868ceb-af59798663-83771801

The Absurd Attack on Alexander Acosta
By John Klar
americanthinker.com } ~ The leftist media machine has launched an effort to link Donald Trump with sex offender Jeffrey Epstein... This tiresome methodology of character attack is a threat to the core of free speech, as victimhood — whether of border children, women, blacks, gays, transgenders, or inquiring people — is transformed into a self-righteous weapon unhindered by policy prescriptions, employed by one political group against another on purely ideological grounds. This new progressivism elevates "justice" above laws and institutions after all, the "system" is oppressive and racist.  In its name, free speech is denied to Nazis or KKK members despite specific Supreme Court rulings safeguarding those people's rights. In its name, Americans who wear MAGA hats or the Trump insignia or display Confederate flags are open season for physical assault. The second tenet of the satanic temple similarly declares: "The struggle for justice is an ongoing and necessary pursuit that should prevail over laws and institutions." Consider that the ideology that wishes to erase criminal records attacked Brett Kavanaugh for an alleged juvenile offense, for which he was never charged;  personally attacked Norm Pattis, attorney for Alex Jones, by association; forced the resignation of Harvard professor Ron Sullivan solely because he represented Harvey Weinstein who has not yet been tried; and now calls for Alexander Acosta's resignation because he was a prosecutor in a case that years later the media have in hindsight "judged" was too lenient in sentencing. John Adams encountered blowback  when he represented the British soldiers who had fired upon colonists in the Boston Massacre. The case was vitally important for our nation, not only because it sparked a patriotic revolt through Paul Revere's masterful employment of propaganda, but because it demonstrated to the British people that Americans were not a barbarian mob run amok.  But now a mob has been loosed. What is striking about Acosta's case is that he is being excoriated not for doing too much to defend a sex offender but too little to punish or convict — that is, he is being criticized not as a defense attorney, like Sullivan, Pattis, or Adams, but as a prosecutor.  Just as defendants and their counsel must weigh their risks of conviction, so too must prosecutors assess the risks and costs of failing to meet that much higher burden of "beyond a reasonable doubt." Epstein served jail time and probation and was compelled to register as a sex offender. Acosta has stated that "the plea deal's results were 'better' than risking a trial, which he said had 'a reduced likelihood of success.'"  Not only do the media seek to revisit that prosecutorial discretion, but they have already passed judgment. If Acosta had tried the case and lost, the result would have been horrible, compelling the victims to testify in a new trauma...    https://www.americanthinker.com/articles/2019/07/the_absurd_attack_on_alexander_acosta.html

CAIR Exec's Brother Makes Facebook
Post About Killing Jews
by John Rossomando
investigativeproject.org } ~ The brother of a prominent CAIR executive wrote about killing Jews on Facebook while waiting for a plane at Israel's David Ben Gurion Airport after a trip to Jerusalem's Al-Aqsa Mosque... the Middle East Forum's Sam Westrop found. Ahmed Billoo, known on Facebook as "Ahmed Ibn Aslam," is Zahra Billoo's brother. She is executive director for the Council on American-Islamic Relations' (CAIR) San Francisco-Bay Area office and also is known for her frequent anti-Semitic outbursts. Ahmed Billoo is the religious director of the Islamic Center of Cypress and a professor at California Islamic University. He also teaches at the Institute of Knowledge, which Westrop identifies as a seminary that has other faculty from a hardline Salafist/Deoban ideology. "Oh God, reduce their numbers, exterminate them, and don't leave a single one alive," Billoo wrote in an Arabic post featuring the hashtag "#Zionists." Once Billoo reached Istanbul he posted, "So good to be in a Muslim country," with the hashtag "#TiredofSeeingZionists." This is nothing new for Billoo. Westrop notes that The Jewish Journal describes an Ahmed Billoo from Alhambra, Calif., Billoo's home, who said that suicide bombers should be looked at on a case-by-case basis. He was president of the California State University Long Beach Muslim Student Association at the time. Imam Faisal Ahmed, who heads the New York-based Fiqh Institute, replied to Billoo saying, "Ameen!!! Wow you were at the place where Eesa Jesus will slay the Dajjal Anti-Christ! Oh Allah make it happen soon make it happen soon. Destroy the forces of kufr non-Muslims and cause Emaan faith in you to spread throughout the earth Ameen!"...  https://www.investigativeproject.org/7980/cair-exec-brother-makes-facebook-post-about

Nike CEO Mark Parker: It's All About the Money
ARGvM1L2TuzhldwxXuMbbiDf8t4pqC1FljBttBuE-SipvAefN9lAbcVWtLAptoCyRN4GJBxp77y4gK6oxG4kXUp6eqhR-HT7ip4ZuYGN2Aj4a5Pf76fpmee8rDYt8Rhxl5FRqyrIeDaPevf3Eqbb18A81nDBS9uw9ksb_wY=s0-d-e1-ft#%3Ca%20rel%3Dnofollow%20href=?profile=RESIZE_710x
Lewis Morris:  Nike stepped into a steaming pile of controversy when it yanked its Betsy Ross-inspired shoes at the behest of resident pitchman sicko-Colin Kaepernick. First he wouldn’t stand for the national anthem, igniting a widespread kneeling protest among NFL players. Now he’s trying to make a bridge between America’s first flag and racism. sicko-Kaepernick even made one of the world’s biggest companies bend to his will in the process. But there’s a face behind that faceless corporation.

sicko-Kaepernick may have been a middling football player, but he is a big-league race hustler, maybe one of the best yet. Anyone capable of influencing the marketing and sales decisions of a Fortune 500 Company must be considered a powerful person. sicko-Kaepernick is only a spokesman, though. Can he make this kind of call? Find out who’s signing sicko-Kaepernick’s paychecks and you’ll get to the bottom of this latest controversy.

Enter Nike CEO Mark Parker. Parker has been with Nike since 1979, starting out as a footwear designer. He climbed up the corporate ladder with innovative designs and a savvy marketing mind, becoming CEO in 2006. Since then, Nike has been on a steady uphill climb, now worth about $32 billion.

Part of Parker’s success has been being involved in all facets of the company’s development — product design, opening new markets like China, and marketing. Parker is ultimately responsible for signing on sicko-Kaepernick as a pitchman for the brand when he was at the height of his race-baiting powers.

sicko-Kaepernick’s first Nike ad aired last fall and caused a great deal of controversy — deliberately, of course. And it didn’t hurt Nike’s bottom line. Quite the opposite, actually, as the campaign ultimately earned the company $6 billion. Sad to say, but leftist, anti-American rhetoric apparently sells. And Parker knows it.

When sicko-Kaepernick voiced his offense at the Betsy Ross shoe, it was most likely to keep his name in the news. The only commodity he has to sell is controversy, and Parker, being a clever businessman, has leveraged that. Upon hearing of sicko-Kaepernick’s disapproval of the new product, Parker could have parted ways with sicko-Kaepernick and let the Betsy Ross shoe hit the market. But by keeping sicko-Kaepernick on board, Parker keeps a lot of his fans in Nike’s corner. The CEO is betting that this latest controversy will be as lucrative as its last one. Nike’s recent positive fourth-quarter-earnings report supports Parker’s thinking.

It may be cynical to think that this latest sicko-Kaepernick controversy is really just a clever marketing ploy, but Parker is at heart a businessman. Whatever his personal politics, Nike as a company often contributes more money to Republicans than Democrats, its recent courting of sicko-Kaepernick notwithstanding. This suggests that sicko-Kaepernick is the flavor of the month at Nike. The moment he no longer makes money for the company, he’ll be back on the bench.

For right now, Nike is content to make itself known as the brand that embraces anti-Americanism and perpetuating a false narrative to enrich itself and race hustlers like sicko-Colin Kaepernick. That may change when a new idea comes its way. In the meantime, shop accordingly.  ~The Patriot Post
