Muslims Protest Santa, Decorated Christmas Tree

{punchingbagpost.com} ~ Protestors took to the streets of Turkey earlier this week to protest the presence of a decorated Christmas tree. The tree that incited the protests is located in Istanbul’s Maltepe Square and immediately angered Muslims... Crowds gathered in the center of the square with signs, some that read “Musluman noel kutlamaz” which translates to “Muslims do not celebrate Christmas.” One protester shouted “That charlatan called Santa Claus is the father of Christians! The real victims of victimhood

{aei.org} ~ Back in 1993, the misanthropic art critic Robert Hughes published a grumpy, entertaining book called “Culture of Complaint,” in which he predicted that America was doomed to become increasingly an “infantilized culture” of victimhood... It was a rant against what he saw as a grievance industry appearing all across the political spectrum.

Unfortunately, the intervening two decades have made Mr. Hughes look prophetic and me look naïve. “Victimhood culture” has now been identified as a widening phenomenon by mainstream sociologists. And it is impossible to miss the obvious examples all around us. We can laugh off some of them, for example, the argument that the design of a Starbucks cup is evidence of a secularist war on Christmas. Others, however, are more ominous.

{gatestoneinstitute.org} ~ It is that Dumb Idea of the Year Award time again, and among the many stellar contenders, one in particular stands out...The diplomatic convention in Great Britain is that new ambassadors present themselves at the Court of St James. There they meet representatives of the monarch and are officially recognized as representing their state in the UK. So it would be interesting to consider even just the earliest ramifications of the British  Independent newspaper contributor Vadim Nikitim getting his way. This is the genius who last week bypassed all those tedious arguments over whether or not ISIS constitutes a state, and proposed not only that we treat it as such but that it is also time to grant ISIS diplomatic recognition. Mr. Nikitim's argument was that pariah states can be brought in to the international system through such measures, as U.S. President Barack nObama presumably imagines he is doing with Iran. Nikitim invites us to consider the precedent of the USSR. And rather than realizing that the USSR collapsed because its economic system caused it to collapse, Nikitim seems to think that the Soviet Union fell apart because countries such as the US and UK recognized it diplomatically -- demonstrating that there is no better way to get the present wrong than by getting the past wrong. He argues,

ISIS 'Caliph' Threatens Israel

{clarionproject.org} ~ The Islamic State’s self-proclaimed Caliph, Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi released an audio message exhorting Muslims to join him in his war against all non-believers... In the clip, which has not been independently verified, Baghdadi disparaged the anti-terrorism coalition assembled by Saudi Arabia, calling into question its Islamic credentials. “If the Saudi Islamic coalition was actually Islamic it would have stated its goals to liberate Palestine” Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi reportedly said “and help the people of Sham [Syria] and declared war against the Rafida [Shiites]. If it were Islamic atheistic China wouldn’t have joined it.”   The threats against Israel mark a departure in the rhetoric of the Islamic State, which, although it has always been deeply anti-Semitic, has not focused on Israel until now. It remains to be seen when and how ISIS will change its actions to fit with the new rhetoric.

Sold Out America's Future for Iran Nuclear Deal

{lidblog.com} ~ Call it the JCPOA, the P5+1 nuclear deal, the big crap sandwich, or your own pet nickname, one of the biggest stories of 2015 was the Democratic Party sellout of America’s future to the terrorist supporting Iranian regime... In the process they also angered our two biggest Middle East allies, Israel and Saudi Arabia, and in the process at times resorted to anti-Semitism. All of it was to give Barack nObama a foreign policy legacy. One of the biggest misnomers the Dems made about the deal was the only reason to reject it was that it put Israel in danger.  Although true, here in America a bigger reason to reject the deal was that it put America in danger. Israel is only the little Satan; the United States is the big Satan. Something the Iranians proved with their constant rallies calling for the “Death to America.” In the end the Democrats were so worried that America would show their hatred of the deal, they filibustered, not allowing a vote in the senate. As 2015 began, we heard reports that President nObama and John hanoi-Kerry were capitulating to every Iranian demand. These capitulations included abandoning the promise that a deal would abolish Iran’s nuke program and allow the rogue nation to continue enriching uranium. Some source said in January, that the U.S. had already given Iran 80% of what it wanted.

Mass Deportation in 2016?

{punchingbagpost.com} ~ The nObama Administration and the Department of Homeland security are making plans to hunt down and deport hundreds – maybe thousands – of illegal immigrants... The campaign is rumored to begin in January. ICE agents will target only families who have already been ordered to leave the country.  While this surge has been downplayed by other immigration problems, more than 100,000 families from violent Central America have illegally crossed into the US during the past year. According to The Washington Post, officials are being coy about the details of the plan and DHS has yet to give its final approval. The entire campaign is viewed as controversial by our immigrant-loving president. Jeh Johnson of the DHS is a strong supporter of the campaign. He feels the need to do something as the rate of illegal immigration increases and has stated publically for months now that families who have been asked to leave by a judge will soon face deportation. Pressure for deportations has also increased after a recent court decision that ordered the DHS to start releasing families held in detention centers. This is hard to believe.

Naming the Muslim Brotherhood

Major terrorist leaders from the Caliph of ISIS to Arafat have the Muslim Brotherhood on their resume... And the current leader of Al Qaeda led a Muslim Brotherhood splinter terror group. But its linkages to Islamic terrorism are only a secondary aspect of the organization whose focus is on Islamizing nations through more subtle means. Paradoxically the Brotherhood has met with far less success in the Muslim world than in the West. Its greatest victories in the Arab Spring would not have happened without nObama’s backing and its takeovers of Egypt and Tunisia were rolled back by popular uprisings while its efforts in Libya, Syria and Yemen were stymied by armed conflict with other Muslims. The Muslim Brotherhood is unpopular in Egypt these days. It’s also unpopular with Americans. Unfortunately nObama is at odds with the views of most Americans. The Muslim Brotherhood may have lost power in Cairo, but it still wields a great deal of power in Washington D.C. Brotherhood front groups such as CAIR and ISNA have open access to the media and dominate all discussions about Islam. The MSA dominates American campuses despite its history of terror ties.

Legacy or Bust

{freedomsback.com} ~ Last Saturday, Barack nObama gained the second jewel in his foreign policy triple crown: the Paris climate accord. It follows his Iran nuclear deal and awaits but the closing of Guantanamo to complete his glittering legacy.

To be sure, nObama will not be submitting the climate agreement for Senate ratification. It would have no chance of passing — as with the Iranian nuclear deal, also never submitted for the Senate ratification nObama knew he’d never get. And if he does close Guantánamo, it will be in defiance of overwhelming bipartisan congressional opposition.

.
You see, visionary thinkers like nObama cannot be bound by normal constitutional strictures. Indeed, the very unpopularity of his most cherished diplomatic goals is proof of their prophetic farsightedness.

.
Yet the climate deal brought back from Paris by Secretary of State John hanoi-Kerry turns out to be no deal at all. It is, instead, a series of carbon-reducing promises made individually and unilaterally by the world’s nations.

.
No enforcement, no sanctions, nothing legally binding. No matter, explained hanoi-Kerry on “Fox News Sunday”: “This mandatory reporting requirement … is a serious form of enforcement, if you will, of compliance, but there is no penalty for it, obviously.”

.
If you think that’s gibberish, you’re not alone. NASA scientist James Hansen, America’s leading carbon abolitionist, indelicately called the whole deal “bulls—.”

He’s right.

The great Paris achievement is supposed to be global “transparency.” But what can that possibly amount to when you can’t even trust the reporting? Just three months ago, the world’s greatest carbon emitter, China, admitted to having under reported its burning of coal by 17 percent, a staggering error (assuming it wasn’t a deliberate deception) equal to the entire coal consumption of Germany.

I’m a climate-change agnostic. But I’m realistic enough to welcome prudent hedging against a possible worst-case scenario. I’ve long advocated for a multilateral agreement (unilateral U.S. actions being climatically useless and economically suicidal) negotiated with the most important players — say, India, China and the European Union — containing real limits, real numbers and real enforcement. That would be a genuine achievement.

What the climate-change conference produced instead was hot air, applauded by 196 well-fed participants. (Fourteen nights in Paris, after all.) China promises to begin reducing carbon emissions 15 years from now. India announced it will be tripling its coal-fired electricity capacity by 2030. Meanwhile, the nObama administration is effectively dismantling America’s entire coal industry.

Looking for guidance on how the U.S. will fare under this new environmental regime? Take a glance at nObama’s other great triumph, the Iran nuclear accord.

Does the American public know that the Iranian parliament has never approved it? And that the Iranian president has never signed it? Iran is not legally bound to anything. As the State Department freely admitted (in a letter to Rep. Mike Pompeo of the House Intelligence Committee), the deal “is not a treaty or an executive agreement, and is not a signed document.” But don’t worry. Its success “will depend not on whether it is legally binding or signed, but rather on the extensive verification measures” and our “capacity to reimpose — and ramp up — our sanctions if Iran does not meet its commitments.”

And how is that going?

On Nov. 21, Iran conducted its second test of a nuclear-capable ballistic missile in direct contravention of two U.N. Security Council prohibitions, including one that incorporates the current nuclear agreement — which bans such tests for eight years.

.
Our response? After Iran’s first illegal launch in October, the administration did nothing. A few words at the United Nations. Weren’t we repeatedly assured that any Iranian violation would be met with vigorous action? No worry, again. As U.N. Ambassador Samantha Power told a congressional hearing last week, “discussions are a form of U.N. action.” .
The heart sinks.

It was obvious from the very beginning that the whole administration promise of “snapback” sanctions was a farce. The Iranians knew it. Hence their contempt for even the prospect of American push back: two illegal missile launches conducted ostentatiously even before sanctions are lifted and before they receive their $150 billion in unfrozen assets early next year.

.
Why not? They know nObama will ignore, downplay and explain away any violation, lest it jeopardize his transformative foreign policy legacy. .
It’s a legacy of fictional agreements. The proliferators and the polluters are not bound. By our own volition, we are.

Only Guantanamo remains. Within a month, one-sixth of the remaining prisoners will be released. nObama will not be denied.
