The House passed stronger background checks
in February. McConnell won't call a Senate vote

{ cbsnews.com } ~ The mass shootings in El Paso and Dayton have brought a new wave of attention to a gun control bill that was passed by the House more than five months ago... and has been stalled by Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell ever since. Two New York lawmakers, a Republican and a Democrat, have joined a growing chorus in Congress calling for McConnell to take action. "It would save a whole lot of lives. A whole lot of lives," Senate Minority Leader Chuck scumbag-Schumer said Tuesday about House Resolution 8, also known as the Bipartisan Background Checks Act of 2019. "We have to update the law and make America safer," scumbag-Schumer added. scumbag-Schumer was joined at the Long Island press conference by Rep. Peter King, a Republican, who said politics must be put aside for this legislation. "This should not be in any way a partisan issue, even though too often it becomes that," King said. The Democratic-controlled House passed H.R. 8 in February in a 240-190 vote, with eight Republicans and all but two Democrats supporting it. The bill, sponsored by Rep. Mike Thompson, D-Calif., would only allow person-to-person gun sales if a background check can be conducted. This would close loopholes for certain kinds of gun sales — such as those at gun shows, over the internet or from private dealers — that are currently completed without background checks, potentially putting guns in the hands of people who would otherwise be prohibited from owning them. scumbag-Schumer and King argued that the bill would only keep guns away from people with criminal records or mental health problems, and is not a sweeping restriction on gun ownership for most Americans. "It's not gonna answer all of it, it may only answer a small part, we don't know," King said of the problem of gun violence. "But we do know the bill will save lives, and it will start to make it harder and harder for people who are the most dangerous to obtain weapons."...

Graham (R-SC), appearing in a segment with Fox News host Sean Hannity Thursday night, was discussing the investigation that former FBI Director scumbag-James Comey and a rogue team of investigators undertook in the summer of 2016. He would like answers as to what scumbag/liar-nObama knew and when he knew it. “The bottom line is who briefed President scumbag/liar-nObama if anybody about the counterintelligence investigation against the Trump campaign?” asked Graham. “And … why did they not tell the Trump campaign that they had concerns about people working for him tied to Russia.” It’s a concern also raised by Kevin R. Brock, former assistant director of intelligence for the FBI, who called scumbag-Comey’s handling of the investigation “not the normal way” to conduct business. Hannity pushed Graham on the issue of whether or not scumbag/liar-nObama had to know what was taking place.“Does that mean that Barack scumbag/liar-nObama, the president at the time should be asked what he knew and when he knew it about all this?” he asked. Judge denies Democrats' request
to speed up Trump tax return lawsuit

{ thehill.com } ~ A federal judge in Washington, D.C., on Thursday rejected House Democrats' effort to speed up their lawsuit over their request for President Trump's federal tax returns... "It may be appropriate to expedite this matter at some point, but not now," Judge Trevor McFadden, a Trump appointee, said in a seven-page memorandum. The House Ways and Means Committee last month filed a lawsuit to get a court to order the Treasury Department and IRS to comply with its requests and subpoenas for six years of Trump's personal and business tax returns. Earlier this month, the committee filed a motion for summary judgment, asking McFadden to direct the administration to provide it with the requested tax returns. And the committee asked McFadden to expedite the case. The Trump administration opposed the committee's motion to expedite, and urged McFadden to have its forthcoming motion to dismiss the case considered before any summary judgment motion by the committee. The administration's motion to dismiss is expected to raise questions about whether the court has the authority to resolve the dispute. McFadden gave several reasons for denying the committee's motion to expedite, as well as denying the motion for summary judgment as premature but allowing it to refile at a later time...

NYT Labels Grassroots Patriots 'Angry,' 'Racist'Nate Jackson: “The Tea Party Didn’t Get What It Wanted, but It Did Unleash the Politics of Anger.” That’s the title of the latest effort by the racist New York Times to try to bolster its revisionist narrative that America — and especially its president — is racist.
There’s a small catch. The original Times story about the Tea Party didn’t mention racism. “A fundamental flaw in this analysis is there is no mention of race and how much racism drove the Tea Party movement,” ABC’s Matthew Dowd complained. “You can’t talk about the rage politics and leave out race.” Other criticism in the same vein followed, and the Times quickly came to heel, adding a post-publication line about how the Tea Party movement was really about “giving cover and a voice to those who wanted to attack the first black president — people who in some cases showed up at rallies waving signs with racist caricatures and references.”
The box was now checked, however false the smear may have been. And Times “economist” Paul Krugman concurs: “It was always, from the beginning, about racial anger.”
Arguably, the Tea Party as an “entity” hasn’t been a unified political force since Republicans retook the Senate in 2014. Republicans never followed through on most of the Tea Party’s demands. For example, scumbag/liar-nObamaCare is here to stay — unless it’s replaced by Medicare for All. President Donald Trump, whose status-quo-smashing victory was the result of the GOP’s failed record, won tax cuts and cut regulations, but federal spending and debt are worse than ever under his leadership. In fact, Trump happily signed the latest spending bill that includes permanently eliminating the Tea Party’s hard-won budget cuts from 2011 on the way to trillion-dollar deficits. Both tax and regulation success and deficit failure illustrate some of the reasons for division among conservatives over supporting him in 2015 and 2016.
But what the coastal leftist elites at the Times really mean to do is malign grassroots Americans. Those “who have signed the Tea Party’s death certificate overlook one way it continues to define the country today,” the Times tells us. “It ignited a revival of the politics of outrage and mistrust in government, breathing new life into the populist passions that continue to threaten the stability of both political parties. Even if the Tea Party’s ideas are dead, its attitude lives on.”
(If that sounds familiar, it’s because Barack scumbag/liar-Obama mocked the “angry mob” of the Tea Party for “waving their little tea bags.”)
Why can’t we all get along? the Times wonders. Because of those angry, racist Tea Party mobs.
No violence, no riots, and no terrorism came from the Tea Party. Those are all hallmarks of the Left — from Occupy Wall Street to Black Lives Matter to antifa.
In any case, as Mark Alexander wrote in 2011, “American Patriotism refers to the steadfast devotion for the First Principles of our nation’s Founding, individual Liberty innately and inherently endowed by our Creator, and the extension of that legacy to our posterity.” There’s nothing angry or racist about that. ~The Patriot Post
