'That's what he wants': Republicans see Mark Meadows angling for White House chief of staff

{ washingtonexaminer.com } ~ There is growing talk on Capitol Hill that Mark Meadows is angling to become the next White House chief of staff... amid signs President Trump has been unhappy with the current acting holder of the position, Mick Mulvaney. The conservative Republican congressman in recent days accompanied Trump to New York to attend a mixed martial arts fight and then joined the president a couple of days later for a campaign rally in Lexington, Kentucky — trips and locales with no connection to the Republican congressman’s western North Carolina House district. Meadows, like Trump, was a real estate developer before entering politics and has played a key role in defending the president against impeachment. Trump recently declined in a Washington Examiner interview to say he was happy with Mulvaney's performance. This, as well as the trips and Meadows's frequent presence in the White House, is leading some Republican aides and lawmakers in the House to believe the congressman is auditioning to become chief of staff. “Of course that’s what he wants,” a Republican congressman told the Washington Examiner, requesting anonymity in order to speak candidly. At least one White House aide shares that opinion. After Meadows interrupted an MSNBC reporter on live television to reject suggestions that Republicans are having a hard time defending Trump against the Democratic allegations of abuse of power that form the basis for impeachment, one Mulvaney ally texted the Washington Examiner with the clip of Meadows on MSNBC, along with a message that read, “Still interviewing for the job.” White House press secretary Stephanie Grisham declined to comment for this story. Meadows said there is nothing out of the ordinary to draw from the extra time he has been spending with the commander in chief. “He is not feeling me out for chief of staff,” the congressman said this week. Meadows noted he was not scheduled to travel with Trump this weekend to Tuscaloosa, Alabama, where the president is expected to attend the Alabama-LSU college football game. Meadows, 60, is playing a critical role in the House Republican effort to undermine the Democratic case for impeachment, which centers around a telephone conversation Trump had with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. The president asked Zelensky to open an investigation into loose lips liar-Joe Biden, the former vice president, and his son, Hunter Biden. Democrats charge that Trump threatened to withhold U.S. military aid from Kyiv unless Zelensky complied...  https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/news/campaigns/thats-what-he-wants-republicans-see-mark-meadows-angling-for-white-house-chief-of-staff?utm_source=breaking_push&utm_medium=app&utm_campaign=push_notifications&utm_source=WEX_News%20Brief_11/08/2019&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=WEX_News%20Brief&rid=5261

Deeper Partnership With Israel Can
Help U.S. Solve Defense Dilemma

{ fdd.org } ~ The U.S. military is very busy these days. The Department of Defense wants to focus its finite resources on great power competition with China and Russia... but persistent threats from Iran and Islamist terrorists demand continued attention. How can the Pentagon address this dilemma? Strengthening Washington’s security partnership with Israel in areas of military doctrine and weapons development may provide part of the answer. The 2018 National Defense Strategy (NDS) made an admirable effort to establish clear priorities. “Long-term strategic competitions with China and Russia are the principal priorities for the Department,” it concluded. Furthermore, the NDS stated unequivocally, “Inter-state competition, not terrorism, is now the primary concern in U.S. national security.” Yet, as much as some might like to focus exclusively on great power competition, the NDS itself also acknowledged persistent threats from Iran and terrorist organizations. “In the Middle East, Iran is competing with its neighbors, asserting an arc of influence and instability while vying for regional hegemony, using state-sponsored terrorist activities, a growing network of proxies, and its missile program to achieve its objectives,” the NDS assessed. Tehran’s activities over the last few months underscore these concerns. The NDS notes, “… threats to stability remain as terrorist groups with long reach continue to murder the innocent and threaten peace more broadly.” Islamist terrorists are far from defeated. Without constant pressure, seemingly tactical terror threats can quickly become strategically devastating for the United States. Another 9/11-style terror attack emanating from the wider Middle East—perhaps this time with a weapon of mass destruction—could kill tens of thousands of Americans and require the diversion of military resources needed for great power competition. Clearly, the United States has to be strategically competent enough to win the global great power competition and defend its interests in the Middle East. This is easier said than done, however, as Washington’s resources are limited, even with recent increases in defense spending. General Mark Milley, the new Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, testified in July that the United States seeks to counter terrorism and maintain a favorable balance in the Middle East by training, advising, assisting, and enabling partners, as well as through foreign military sales. This is an essential and potentially cost-effective, “economy of force” approach to U.S. strategy in the Middle East. But to focus resources on China and Russia and address persistent threats in the Middle East, the United States needs to identify additional steps—particularly following the Trump administration’s abrupt withdrawal in Syria. One such step might include deeper doctrinal and weapons development collaboration with America’s closest ally in the region, Israel...  https://www.fdd.org/analysis/2019/11/07/deeper-partnership-with-israel-can-help-us-solve-defense-dilemma/
The Left Doesn’t Really

Rep. Andy Biggs
{ dailysignal.com } ~ There is a two-tiered system of justice in America, and it isn’t necessarily defined by rich versus poor, or on racial grounds. Rather, if you’re a Democrat favorite of the deep-state bureaucrats, you will be treated favorably... If you’re a Republican who supports President Donald Trump, or if you’re Trump himself, you will be routed by the institutions of the left. The inconsistencies of liar-Nancy Pelosi and her followers demonstrate this completely. “No one is above the law,” the House speaker told late-night TV host Stephen Colbert last week. She said the same thing back in September. Earlier in the year, she punctuated her declaration by saying, “No one is above the law, especially the president of the United States.” She seems to have made no exceptions in her declarative statements. But she is not alone in the wide assortment of those attempting to remove Trump via a procedural coup. liar-Pelosi is joined by House Intelligence Committee Chairman scumbag-Adam Schiff, D-Calif., who said in December of 2018, “No one is above the law, not even the president of the United States.” Perennial presidential hopeful and unindicted former Secretary of State scumbag/liar-Hillary Clinton tweeted in June, “I don’t know who needs to hear  this, but the president is not above the law.” Yet, as columnist Marc Thiessen wrote in July, Democrats don’t really believe that. Take illegal immigration, the prime example of Democrats blatantly disregarding the law with no consequences. If you are an illegal alien in the United States, Democrats want to give you special treatment. Your first time illegally in the country is a misdemeanor, and an illegal reentry after removal is a felony...  https://www.dailysignal.com/2019/11/07/the-left-doesnt-really-believe-no-one-is-above-the-law/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=the-left-doesnt-really-believe-no-one-is-above-the-law?utm_source=TDS_Email&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=MorningBell&mkt_tok=eyJpIjoiTURJM05ERXhabVkzWm1FMSIsInQiOiJMb2JUd2t3bHg2YnVwTHErU05Gb3RIanI4bGRscWoxbzZEdm5EWW5qYXN6dmd0VUk3eUJGWFwvS2xjRkdoXC9NUDgrTjNXYVJTWUJDY3JMVU56TngxU05JS1YrXC9OV0wzaXRpcU1kT1F3NDRsZDZXRDQ3V290c0dQVGI4WDR3M3lTeCJ9

{ thepoliticalinsider.com } ~ House Democrats on Friday released deposition transcripts for Lt. Col. Alexander Vindman and Dr. Fiona Hill, two national security experts who are considered to be key witnesses... in the impeachment inquiry of President Donald Trump. Vindman, the director for European affairs at the National Security Council, was deposed Oct. 29, while Hill, who served as the White House’s top Russia expert until she left the post in July, was questioned Oct. 14. Vindman was one of two officials deposed so far to have listened in on the July 25 phone call between Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky that is at the center of the impeachment inquiry. Vindman testified that he had serious concerns that Trump asked Zelensky to open up politically charged investigations into allegations that loose lips liar-Joe Biden pressured Ukraine’s former president to shut down an investigation into an energy company linked to his son, Hunter Biden. Vindman, who received a Purple Heart for injuries sustained in the Iraq War, said he believed Trump’s remarks undermined U.S. national security. He also testified that he raised those concerns with John Eisenberg, the top lawyer on the National Security Council. Hill expressed concerns that Trump lawyer Rudy Giuliani operated an unofficial diplomatic channel between the Trump administration and Ukrainian government officials. She told lawmakers that John Bolton, the former national security adviser, described Giuliani’s involvement in Ukraine issues as a “drug deal.” Vindman’s testimony, which Democrats called damning for Trump, was somewhat nullified by a deposition given by Timothy Morrison, who also listened in on the Trump-Zelensky phone call. Morrison, who served on the National Security Council before filling Hill’s vacated position, said he “was not concerned that anything illegal was discussed” on the phone call...  https://thepoliticalinsider.com/house-democrats-release-deposition-of-white-house-official-who-listened-to-trump-zelensky-phone-call/?utm_campaign=TPI1082019afternoon&utm_source=criticalimpact&utm_medium=email&utm_content=4b4ea4948726422aa6473c7b9fa19141&source=TPICI

New York Fines Trump
$2 Million for Helping Veterans Charity

{ bongino.com } ~ bA New York judge has ruled that President Donald Trump must pay a $2 million judgement for improperly using his Trump Foundation to advance his 2016 presidential campaign – but in reality... Trump is being punished for a technicality. That’s in contrast to how liberals are trying to portray the event. As CNNput it in their reporting: “The order and settlement bring an end to questions that first arose during the 2016 campaign about whether Trump used money raised under the guise of charitable work for political gain. The resolution puts the President in the unusual position of having to pay millions in damages while in office, at a time when he faces a large number of other personal legal battles. Filed in June 2018, the lawsuit alleged that the President and his three eldest children — Don Jr., Ivanka and Eric — violated federal and state campaign finance laws and abused the Donald J. Trump Foundation’s tax-exempt status. According to the lawsuit, the Trumps allowed the foundation to be used ‘as little more than a checkbook to serve Mr. Trump’s business and political interests.'” In reality, this lawsuit was setoff by the following series of events: Ahead of the 2016 Iowa caucus, candidate Trump held a fundraiser. The fundraiser raised $2.8 million, which was all given to veterans charities. The funds were raised through the Trump Foundation, but campaign staff managed the fundraiser and distributed the funds to charities. Liberals decided that these funds counted as campaign contributions zero percent of which went to the Trump campaign, and a judge agreed helped “further Mr. Trump’s political campaign.” One hundred percent of the money raised went to charity, and the Trump campaigned covered the entire cost of administering distribution of the funds. But because giving millions of dollars to veterans tends to be good PR for a presidential candidate, a judge decided that this helped further the Trump campaign. So for his efforts to help veterans, Trump was rewarded with a $2 million fine and the billionth bogus media narrative to plague his presidency. Maybe one day the media will discover what the scumbag/liar-Clinton Foundation is.

Next Generation of Americans Will Embrace Socialism If We Lose ‘War on History’

{ dailysignal.com } ~ As young Americans are losing an understanding of civics and American history, they increasingly embrace socialism... An annual poll conducted for the Victims of Communism Memorial Foundation again found that the younger generations have a far sunnier view of socialism and communism than their elders. Some of the findings from the YouGov survey, released Oct. 28, were deeply worrisome. According to the poll, 70% of millennials responded that they are likely or extremely likely to vote for a “socialist.” About 50% said they have an unfavorable view of capitalism. Incredibly, the poll found that “15% of millennials think the world would be better off if the Soviet Union still existed.” Seventy-six percent of respondents “are unaware that the Hitler-Stalin pact started World War II,” the poll found. The Soviets, of course, began World War II as an ally of Hitler, only switching “sides” after the Nazis attacked the Soviet Union. Nevertheless, a victory for the Soviet Union without the presence of the United States would have likely begun a new dark age as horrifying as a world under the thumb of Nazi Germany...

Louis DeBroux:  Where are the happiest, most generous people in America to be found? The answer might surprise you!

Lefty author and radio personality Garrison Keillor captured the popular view (at least according to Hollywood and the media) of the differences between liberals and conservatives, claiming, “Liberalism is the politics of kindness,” standing for “tolerance, magnanimity, community spirit, [and] the defense of the weak against the powerful.” Conservatives, Keillor claims on the other hand, are people who “stand for tax cuts, and further tax cuts, annual tax cuts,” and then they “use their refund to buy a gun and an attack dog” to keep people away who are not like them.

Or, as scumbag/liar-nObama put it, these are the people who are “bitter, they cling to guns or religion or antipathy toward people who aren’t like them.”

As it turns out, that is the exact opposite of the truth.

Last year, the Social Psychological and Personality Science journal published the findings of a study by University of Southern California researcher David Newman. He analyzed the happiness of 50,000 people from 16 countries over a 40-year period.

What Newman’s team discovered is that conservatives are consistently and significantly happier than their liberal counterparts, and the more conservative a person is, the happier they are. Social conservatives are even happier than just fiscal conservatives, and both are much happier than liberals. Why? Because “there is some unique aspect of political conservatism that provides people with meaning and purpose in life.”

This was true for conservatives “at all reporting periods (global, daily, and momentary).” In other words, conservatives tend to be happy as a general rule, and not just when things are going well for them. That is extremely significant. It means their happiness is related to who they are inside, rather than being a reaction to their circumstances.

Of study participants, 52% of conservatives were “completely satisfied” with their family lives, compared to just 41% of liberals and moderates. Conservatives were also significantly more likely to believe marriage is “essential in creating and maintaining strong families,” and overwhelmingly more likely to be married (62% vs. 39%).

Considering the vast data on how marriage greatly increases overall happiness and well-being, economic stability, improved physical and mental health, and life expectancy, this is a game-changer.

In 2012, the Journal of Research in Personality analyzed four studies on happiness, and found “conservatives expressed greater personal agency (e.g., personal control, responsibility), more positive outlook (e.g., optimism, self-worth), more transcendent moral beliefs (e.g., greater religiosity, greater moral clarity, less tolerance of transgressions), and a generalized belief in fairness, and these differences accounted for the happiness gap.”

In the U.S., where leftists gravitate toward the Democrat Party and conservatives to the Republican Party, these mindsets and ideologies are clearly manifest in their messaging. As one writer put it, “Republicans … preach the message of limited government, responsibility and self-reliance, while Democrats … preach a message of victimhood and entitlement. … The former is empowering and the latter is debilitating, tending only to provoke feelings of resentment, anger, and helplessness.”

This supports the findings of a Pew Research Center study showing that Republicans maintain higher levels of happiness across all income levels, so it’s not just those evil, rich Republicans swimming in their pools of cash who are happy.

Additionally, conservative Republicans are nearly twice as likely to be “very happy” as liberal Democrats (47% to 28%), and regular church attenders were nearly twice as likely to be very happy as those who rarely or never attend.

Conservative, Christian Republicans are also far more generous than their liberal Democrat counterparts, regardless of income level. And for those who think religious conservatives only donate to charity to get the tax write-off (which makes no sense because you don’t get a dollar-for-dollar reduction in taxes), religious conservatives also donate more of their time (which could be spent making more money) to charity than liberal Democrats. In the 2012 election, 17 of the most generous states voted for rino-Mitt Romney, while 15 of the least charitable 17 went for Barack scumbag/liar-nObama.

If you are a liberal Democrat, these findings probably offend you. You may think this is “fake news” and recall the widely broadcasted study that supposedly found Republicans have more psychopathic traits than Democrats. Numerous liberals/Democrats pointed to the study as proof that conservatism and religiosity are manifestations of mental illness.

Yet while this study’s findings were headline news when the report was issued, the retraction a short time later was barely mentioned. Go figure.

After being called out, researchers were forced to admit they screwed up the calculations, and the results were just the opposite of what they claimed: “The descriptive and preliminary analyses portion of the manuscript was exactly reversed.” In other words, the data showed that it was liberals, not conservatives, who were most likely to be associated with psychoticism.

Of course, common sense and personal observation will confirm this. It is not conservative, Christian Republicans who are rioting and assaulting those who disagree with them, or fire-bombing cars, smashing store windows, and showing up at private homes and threatening families and terrifying children. That would be “progressive” Democrats, who feel their violence is justified by their morally superior cause.

So if you find yourself unhappy, aimless, and without purpose, there is an easy fix — don a MAGA hat and head to church!   ~The Patriot Post
