The War Between Iran and Israel Moves to Iraq

{freebeacon.com} ~ Israel's campaign of airstrikes against Iranian military targets in Syria has led Iran to move the bulk of its soldiers and bases away from the Israeli border, according to intelligence assessments by the Israeli military released Wednesday... While some pro-Iranian forces remain in southern Syria on the border with Israel, Iran is redeploying most of its assets to eastern Syria and Iraq. Iran's actions should not be construed as Tehran giving up its efforts to entrench itself in Syria to open up another front to attack Israel. In fact, the intelligence assessments say that Iran appears to be adopting a more aggressive posture toward the Jewish state—last month, for example, Iranian forces launched a missile at the Israeli-controlled Golan Heights. Iran is simply changing its methods for achieving the same vision, the Israel Defense Forces believes. Iran now seeks to entrench itself in Iraq, setting up missile launchers there to threaten Israel. Reuters reported last year that Iran had also given ballistic missiles to Shi'ite proxies in Iraq and that it is developing the capacity to build more there with the ranges to threaten both Israel and Saudi Arabia. Furthermore, Iranian-backed militias are expected to base themselves in western Iraq, awaiting orders to cross the border into Syria to target the Jewish state. Parts of Iran's elite Quds Force also appear to be leaving Syria to enter Iraq. Given this shifting landscape, Israel may feel the need at some point to target Iranian and Iranian-linked forces in Iraq. Such action would be significant, as no strikes in Iraq have been attributed to Israel. What to Do About the Rebirth of Socialism

{freebeacon.com} ~ "The most important political event of the twentieth century," wrote Irving Kristol in 1976, "is not the crisis of capitalism but the death of socialism." Plenty of self-described Marxist and socialist regimes existed throughout the world, Kristol recognized... It was rather the ideas behind such regimes that had reached a moral and intellectual endpoint. Nor was this passing away entirely to be cheered. "For with the passing of the socialist ideal," Kristol went on, "there is removed from the political horizon the one alternative to capitalism that was rooted in the Judeo-Christian tradition and in the Western civilization which emerged from that tradition." The inheritors of the socialist ideal were totalitarian states on one hand and stagnant social democracies on the other. By the end of the twentieth century, these too had passed. China and later Vietnam decided that to get rich is glorious, the Soviet Union and Warsaw Pact states collapsed into squabbling nationalities and kleptocracies, the socialist autocracies that had depended on Moscow for support receded into irrelevance. What Kristol called "a dwindling band of socialist fideists" remained behind, the last remnant of a dwindling faith. "People who persist in calling themselves socialist, while decrying the three quarters of the world that has proclaimed itself socialist, and who can find a socialist country nowhere but in their imaginings—such people are anachronisms." Not any more. If the death of the socialist idea was the most important political event of the last century, then the rebirth of this ideal must rank high in significance in the current one. Just as nationalism has reasserted itself on the political right, socialism has grown in force on the left. In the twenty-first century the two ideologies are estranged and antagonistic twins, paired in Occupy Wall Street and the Tea Party, Jeremy Corbyn and Brexit, commie-Bernie Sanders and Donald Trump. The Democratic victory in 2018 has elevated socialism to a height it has not reached in the United States in more than a century. Only in recent weeks, however, have defenders of democratic capitalism become aware of how great the socialist challenge really is. Gibboney was one of many angel families turned away at Speaker Nancy Pulosi’s office Wednesday... despite their requests for meetings that were made ahead of their visit to her office. “My parents legally immigrated here,” said angel mom Agnes Gibboney. “My parents wanted a good, safe place for my family and look and the safe place my only son, my first born was murdered.” “Where is the protection?…Where is the sanctuary for my son?” Gibboney asked. “Who is to say that after this guy gets out next year, he’s not going to come after me or after any of my family? Or kill somebody else’s child?” “I wouldn’t want to see that. I wouldn’t want his own family go through the hell I’ve been living with for almost 17 years,” she went on. “This is not fair.” “This country, I took an oath when I became a citizen. Nancy Pulosi took an oath when she took office. She’s breaking her oath. She oughta be arrested,” said Gibboney. Capitol Hill Police showed up with a commanding presence while angel families were gathered in Pulosi’s office. Two of the officers entered the front office at one point, while several others stood at the ready outside the office where more angel families and supporters stood. Ilhan Omar (D., Minn.) as she navigates the anti-Semitism quandary she's created, according to reports Thursday... Jewish Insider reported Thursday morning that commie-Sanders, who is Jewish, shared his support with participants of on an off-the-record conference call. "I talked to Ilhan last night to give her my personal support," commie-Sanders reportedly said. "We will stand by our Muslim brothers and sisters." Jim Zogby, the host of the call, declined to provide any other details. Zogby is co-chair of the DNC’s Ethnic Council and founder of the Arab American Institute. Omar has been under scrutiny this week after she wrote a series of ill-advised tweets concerning Jewish Americans, Israel, and the United States government. Omar peddled in anti-Semitic stereotypes, mischaracterized a pro-Israel lobbying group, and garnered praise from the former Grand Wizard of the Ku Klux Klan. In a tweet Sunday afternoon, Omar shared a tweet from far-left journalist Glenn Greenwald. Greenwald claimed McCarthy was "defending a foreign nation' and "attacking free speech rights of Americans."... Look at what you did Minn and Vt.

In an interview scheduled to air on next Sunday's "60 Minutes," McCabe detailed his and his FBI co-conspirators parts in the planned, plotted and implemented attempted coup against legally-elected President Trump – using a fake Russian dossier. dirty cop-Mueller's and Rosenstein's parts in the scheme were for Rosenstein to appoint former FBI Director dirty cop-Mueller to the position of Special Counsel to investigate Trump. This position requires that a crime be listed before the investigation may go forth. There was never – and still isn't – any crime listed. As I've written in several columns, this investigation was illegal from its inception.Still...no one in the government has made any attempt to stop it! That, coupled with the fact that the now-infamous "dossier" against Trump was made up out of whole cloth and that Russian Agents were hired by the scumbag/liar-Hillary Clinton campaign to write it should – at the very least – cause the arrests of the perpetrators via US Marshall's office. Another portion from the to-be-aired Sunday interview, McCabe admitted that he and the FBI "get Trump out" FBI/DOJ cabal also planned and conspired to use the 25th Amendment "incompetency of the POTUS" to remove him from office. McCabe said at 2 meetings, Rosenstein agreed to war a wire, with the purpose of entrapping President Trump. Rosenstein has said that he was just "kidding around." McCabe said that they were all "dead serious" and that Rosenstein had agreed at both of the 2 planning meetings. 18 U.S. Code § 2385. Tariff Deadline Looms Over U.S.-China Negotiationsby Thomas Gallatin: Another round of trade talks between the U.S. and China kicked off on Thursday in Beijing as the two countries seek to negotiate an end to the escalating trade war. March 2 is the deadline for President Donald Trump’s $200 billion increase in tariffs against Chinese goods to be initiated. However, Trump indicated that he’s willing to delay the deadline a further 60 days should the negotiations yield positive results.
Trump’s tariffs get all the attention, but the issue at the heart of the trade war is China’s long record of abusive trade practices, particularly related to the theft of foreign-based companies’ technology. As the Associated Press reports, “Trump raised tariffs in July over complaints Beijing steals or pressures companies to hand over technology. The dispute includes cyber-spying traced to China, the country’s multibillion-dollar trade surplus with the United States and support for state industry.”
Clearly, Trump’s trade war with China is aimed at leveling the playing field and ending unfair trade practices, and insomuch as it delivers on that, it’s a good thing. That said, a fair market free of tariffs should be the ultimate goal, which will produce the most benefit to Americans and foreign nations alike. In the meantime, the tariffs are a somewhat painful but necessary “medicine.” What needs to be guarded against is the propensity for crony capitalism, as businesses that benefit from these tariffs may lobby to permanently establish them. Other companies are, of course, paying through the nose, and those costs are passed along to the consumer.
The president seems to be calculating that America can better absorb the economic impact of tariffs than China can. Indeed, with Chinese economic growth slowing to a three-decade low, and the U.S. economy jumping into high gear, Beijing may finally be willing to agree to real changes. That remains to be seen, but it appears that Trump is optimistic, as are a majority of American businesses. ~The Patriot Post
