{ redstate.com } ~ {When it comes to foreign policy, the President has the final say, no matter how strongly his advisors feel... The media don’t seem to understand this and constantly portray any decision Trump makes as dangerous and illegitimate. Somehow, the world hasn’t gone into a nuclear meltdown though. It’s almost like they have no idea what they are talking about? One such decision was Trump wanting to pull out of Syria. It was enough that James “Mad Dog” Mattis resigned over it. That’s fair. If he couldn’t do the job anymore, I’m not going to criticize him for deciding to move on. The irony of the entire situation is that Democrats, who cheered scumbag/liar-nObama’s disastrous pull-out from Iraq, suddenly become the hawkiest of war hawks, but I digress. The current story is that Mattis is writing his memoir and that got the media press corp really excited. You see, because Mattis left on rocky terms from the Trump administration, including a fairly forward resignation letter, the expectation was that he was going to blast Trump. So you got headlines like The Man Who Couldn’t Take It Anymore from The Atlantic and The Man Trump Wishes He Were from The New York Times. You could almost see the foam forming around their collective mouths. They were about to get another tell all they could fluff for weeks, and if that meant rehabilitating a person they used to hate in James Mattis, then that was a price they were willing to pay. Then something happened. While Mattis’ book laid into a President, it just so happened to be the wrong President in the media’s eyes. That would be Barack scumbag/liar-nObama. scumbag/liar-nObama was essentially willing to let Iran get away with anything to preserve his doomed nuclear deal. Mattis also points out his incredible naivete when it came to the Arab Spring, which turned out to be one of the worst things to happen to the Middle East in regards to stability, as fundamentalist Muslims were further empowered...  https://www.redstate.com/bonchie/2019/09/05/media-cancel-james-mattis-learn-book-criticizes-wrong-president/?utm_source=rsmorningbriefing&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=nl&bcid=7220442bc3498cb5e2d68f3cb4d11680

{ townhall.com } ~ If you're a political conservative, don't feel so picked on by the Stalinist Democratic Party. It doesn't allow dissent among its own ranks either, being the party of the ideological straitjacket... In watching some of the clips from the Democratic climate change marathon, I was struck by how willing each candidate was to grovel and play dumb to retain favor with the crazy leftist base. And that should tell us all we need to know about how dangerous this party is for America. "You didn't watch the entire thing?" you ask. No, sorry, I do have some self-respect. How these reckless clowns could persuade even 10 percent of voters to support them in a general election is a disturbingly sad commentary on the state of our electorate. Each candidate was more ridiculous than the next. It was a painful spectacle to endure. lowlife-Kamala Harris seemed to realize how ridiculous she sounded when she said she would favor banning plastic straws. Saying something has to be done, she descended into inane laughter about the difficulty in using paper straws. Seriously? This is what animates them today? Being the shrewd lawyer she is, lowlife-Harris also said the government must take action to reduce Americans' red meat consumption. Yes, that's a pressing federal issue and certainly the type of government action the framers contemplated at the Constitutional Convention in 1787. Andrew Yang, when the time is right, might ban commercial air travel. He also mentioned the possible confiscation of gas vehicles and refused to rule out making electric cars mandatory. Suggested Democrat campaign slogan: "Vote for us and we'll lead you back to the Stone Age -- a time of environmental sensitivity and equal income distribution." Elizabeth dinky-Warren crusaded against straws, and cheeseburgers, too. Why would Trump focus on economic growth, spreading wealth and reducing unemployment for all Americans when he could prioritize their nutrition awareness? Republicans should be ashamed of their obvious indifference to the federal government's proper role in our dining decisions -- and federally mandated exercise, for that matter. Now I know what Democrats mean when they say we don't care. Indeed, commie-Bernie Sanders is right to advocate curbing population growth. Capping population will facilitate economic malaise, thus ending the rich's stranglehold on all that stuff they want their voters to covet...  https://townhall.com/columnists/davidlimbaugh/2019/09/06/stoneage-democrats-are-crazy-with-the-heat-n2552686?utm_source=thdaily&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=nl&newsletterad=09/06/2019&bcid=7220442bc3498cb5e2d68f3cb4d11680&recip=18305623
What Happened During Flynn Lawyer’s Secret Meeting With Judge This Week?

{ thefederalist.com } ~ On Thursday, two docket entries in the criminal case against Michael Flynn provided a roadmap to the next steps in the case that took a surprise turn last week... As I reported  earlier this week, while Americans prepared for the long Labor Day weekend, lawyer Sidney Powell, who had taken over Flynn’s defense in June, hit federal prosecutors with a motion to compel evidence and a request for sanctions for prosecutorial misconduct. In her motion, Powell charged that government attorneys withheld potentially exculpatory evidence from Flynn, whom had pleaded guilty in late 2017 to lying to FBI agents. In a status report filed the same day, Powell also complained that the government had refused to grant her a security clearance to allow her to review pertinent evidence, and she sought presiding judge Emmett Sullivan’s intervention. Yesterday, Judge Sullivan “held an ex parte and sealed hearing with Mr. Flynn and defense counsel to consider Mr. Flynn’s request for the Court’s intervention on counsel’s request for security clearances.” An ex parte hearing is one in which one or more parties are absent, which here would mean the prosecutors did not participate in the hearing. Because the hearing was sealed, a transcript is not publicly available, and Powell is prohibited from commenting on the proceedings. However, the docket order stated the bottom line: “The Court advised counsel that it intends to resolve Flynn’s Motion to Compel Production of Brady Material before addressing any Court intervention regarding security clearances for Mr. Flynn’s counsel.” A minute order soon followed, with the court stating that “in view of Defendant’s Motion to Compel Production of Brady Material, the Court will set a briefing schedule and a motion hearing date at the September 10, 2019 Status Conference.” That briefing schedule will set the timing for federal prosecutors to respond to Powell’s motion and the 19-page memorandum filed in support of the motion to compel. On the tenth, the court will also set a deadline for Powell to reply to the government’s counter and schedule a hearing for the parties to orally argue their positions. Judge Sullivan’s minute order also included another intriguing tidbit. In it, he noted that the court would “apply the standard set forth in United States v. Yunis, 867 F.2d 617 (D.C. Cir. 1989) to resolve the pending motion.”...  https://thefederalist.com/2019/09/06/happened-flynn-lawyers-secret-meeting-judge-week/?utm_source=The+Federalist+List&utm_campaign=1fd8b5cbf4-RSS_The_Federalist_Daily_Updates_w_Transom&utm_medium=email&utm_term=0_cfcb868ceb-1fd8b5cbf4-83771801

{ townhall.com  } ~ Thursday, Sept. 14, looks to be a fateful day in the half-century-long political career of loose lips liar-Joe Biden. That night, a three-hour debate will be held, a marathon in politics... loose lips liar-Biden will be on stage, taking incoming missiles for 180 minutes from nine rivals, each of whom is hungry for the Democratic nomination and has a huge investment in seeing him stumble and fall. A solid showing by loose lips liar-Biden that night, marked by wit and a mastery of the issues, would cause a storm surge of relief in the Democratic Party. It would provide desperately needed reassurance to millions of Democrats who have a gnawing fear loose lips liar-Biden's time has come and gone, that he is losing it, that his memory is failing, and that, at any moment, from some egregious gaffe, his campaign could crater and crash. If he stumbles that night, misremembers or misspeaks repeatedly in the three hours, the apprehension about his nomination, already widespread among the party elite, could turn into panic. Why is the Democratic Party apprehensive about loose lips liar-Joe Biden? Though every poll has him running well ahead of his competitors, the loose lips liar-Biden campaign has ranged from dull to embarrassing. loose lips liar-Biden began by speaking nostalgically of his days as a young senator and the warm friendships he formed with segregationist senators Herman Talmadge and Jim Eastland, the latter a Mississippi pillar of "massive resistance" to civil rights legislation. In the first debate, loose lips liar-Biden was skewered by Sen. lowlife-Kamala Harris for having boasted of opposing the court-ordered busing that, lowlife-Harris claims, enabled her to get an integrated education in California. Asked, in Keene, New Hampshire, how it felt to be in the lovely town, loose lips liar-Biden volunteered, "Look, what's not to like about Vermont." loose lips liar-Biden spoke of meeting in his vice president's office with students from Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida, the scene of a horrific school shooting. Only the Parkland massacre did not occur until after he left the vice presidency. Speaking in the aftermath of shootings in El Paso, Texas, and Dayton, Ohio, loose lips liar-Biden talked of the recent "tragic events in Houston and also in Michigan the day before." After the shootings in Odessa, Texas, done with an assault rifle, an outraged loose lips liar-Joe said it was "absolutely mindless" not to ban all firearm magazines that carry more than a single bullet...  https://townhall.com/columnists/patbuchanan/2019/09/06/can-joe-biden-run-this-marathon-n2552683?utm_source=thdaily&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=nl&newsletterad=09/06/2019&bcid=7220442bc3498cb5e2d68f3cb4d11680&recip=18305623

Save the Planet: Reform the
Endangered Species Act

{ spectator.org } ~ Environmental socialists’ knee-jerk reactions to regulatory changes the Trump administration implemented to the 1973 Endangered Species Act (ESA) were as predictable as they were misguided... Claiming the Trump administration violated the law and gutted endangered species protections, several environmental groups are suing the U.S. Department of the Interior (DOI) to overturn the rule changes. Based on environmentalists’ reactions, you’d think the ESA had a glowing track record of success in bringing species back from the brink of extinction. But this is not the case. Actually, ESA has been a costly fiasco. Since 1973, more than 2,470 species of plants and animals have been listed as “endangered” or “threatened” under the ESA. Federal, state, and local governments, as well as private individuals, have spent billions to help those species recover. People have been forbidden to build homes or businesses on their own land and told they must stop farming or logging, and road and hospital construction has been halted or delayed. Yet for all this effort, just 85 species have been removed from the Endangered Species List, representing only 3.4 percent of all species ever listed. Further, most of the species removed from the list were taken off either because they had been improperly placed on it in the first place or they recovered due to factors unrelated to the ESA. In more than 46 years of existence, ESA is, at best, responsible for helping 16 species recover. If ESA were a school, it would have the worst graduation rate in history! DOI’s actions are aimed at reducing costs and focusing scarce agency resources to recover species most at risk of disappearing in the near term. Indeed, DOI is reversing a decades-old policy that mandated threatened species receive the same protections as endangered species. Under ESA, actions impacting threatened species were to be judged on a case-by-case basis. previous administrations, however, applied the same heavy-handed prohibitions intended for endangered species to threatened species...

Automakers Demand More Electric

Political Editors:  In Washington’s upside-down parlance, a temporary subsidy actually means something closer to permanent. A recent example demonstrating this reality is the electric-vehicle (EV) tax credit. Back in 2009, part of Barack scumbag/liar-nObama’s so-called “stimulus” package included an EV tax break intended to help the auto industry counter the high cost of developing electric cars. As The Wall Street Journal explains, “The federal government currently provides a $7,500 consumer tax break for an auto maker’s first 200,000 cars. The tax credit then drops by half for EVs sold over the next six months, and by half again for another six months. It then disappears.”

However, as Tesla and General Motors both surpassed 200,000 EV’s sold last year, and Ford, Nissan, and Toyota are quickly closing in on that sales threshold, automakers are lobbying Congress for the tax break to be extended up to 400,000 sales. And thus far their lobbying has proven somewhat successful. Senators Debbie Stabenow (D-MI) and Lamar Alexander (R-TN) are currently floating an extension for the EV tax break. If passed it would cost taxpayers an estimated $16 billion over the next 10 years.

As the Journal notes, “It’s hard to imagine a more blatant income transfer for the well-to-do. Electric cars are significantly more expensive than the average vehicle, with a starting price of around $36,000. A recent Congressional Research Service study found that nearly 80% of the credits were claimed by households with adjusted gross income of more than $100,000. Sales data show that about half of all electric vehicle sales occur in one state — California.” We’re shocked — shocked.

Washington’s habit of picking winners and losers rather than letting the free market decide only ends up costing everyone. It’s time to end these subsidies, not extend them.  ~The Patriot Post
