And a lot of this has already been investigated, and a substantial portion of it has been investigated and is being investigated by the office of the Inspector General, but one of the things I want to do is pull everything together from the various investigations that have gone on, including on the Hill and in the Justice Department, and see if there are any remaining questions to be addressed. SEN. JEANNE SHAHEEN (D., NH): And can you share with us why you feel a need to do that? BARR: Well, you know, for the same reason we’re worried about foreign influence in elections, we want to make sure that during elections — I think spying on a political campaign is a big deal. It’s a big deal. The generation I grew up in, which is the Vietnam War period, people were all concerned about spying on anti-war people and so forth by the government, and there were a lot of rules put in place to make sure that there’s an adequate basis before our law enforcement agencies get involved in political surveillance. { dailycaller.com } ~ The Trump administration’s discussion of a plan to drop illegal migrants off in sanctuary cities met with an unexpected pushback Thursday... from some of the most vocal advocates of laxer immigration laws. According to a Washington Post report published Thursday, the White House approached Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) at least twice to propose that illegal border-crossers be transported to sanctuary cities. The idea was initially floated by White House senior adviser Stephen Miller, who suggested that it would take some of the strain off the overcrowded detention centers while sending a message to sanctuary cities — most of which are controlled by opponents of the president’s immigration policies. ICE called the proposal “inappropriate,” and argued that it could present a public relations problem. In a surprise move, a fair number of liberals sided with ICE. And some of them suddenly appeared to be concerned that a rapid influx of illegal migrants might actually pose some of the threats Trump has been claiming it would. Actress Alyssa Milano, who has long been an advocate for fewer restrictions on migrant families, called the move “sick and twisted.”...

Rosenstein Defends Barr’s Handling 

of dirty cop-Mueller Report

{ bongino.com } ~ Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein defended Attorney General William Barr’s handling of Special Counsel dirty cop-Robert Mueller’s report on the Russia collusion hoax...  Rosenstein told the Wall Street Journal in his first interview since the release of the report that Barr was “being as forthcoming as he can, and so this notion that he’s trying to mislead people, I think is just completely bizarre.”“It would be one thing if you put out a letter and said, ‘I’m not going to give you the report,’” Rosenstein said. “What he said is, ‘Look, it’s going to take a while to process the report. In the meantime, people really want to know what’s in it. I’m going to give you the top-line conclusions.’ That’s all he was trying to do.”  Rosenstein called on the public to have “tremendous confidence” in Barr and declined to comment on how the review of the report was going.Fox News writes: Rosenstein, 54, told the Wall Street Journal he hopes to begin a new job toward the end of the summer. Earlier this year, Trump announced he will nominate Jeff Rosen to replace Rosenstein deputy attorney general. It shows that under President scumbag/liar-nObama the travel ban rate for security reasons in 2015 was 16 times higher than under Trump in 2017 based on the one year data that was available to GAO. It also indicates a very significant finding: that the Trump administration’s executive orders not only did not increase its refusal rate -for terrorism and security related reasons- but it was 20 times lower than scumbag/liar-nObama for the respective years studied in the report.“GAO’s analysis indicates that, out of the nearly 2.8 million NIV applications refused in fiscal year 2017, 1,338 applications were refused specifically due to visa entry restrictions implemented per the executive actions,” stated the report. { canadafreepress.com } ~ The rise of socialists like commie-Bernie Sanders and commie-Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, within the godless Democrat party, should concern all Americans, especially Christians and religious Jews... Why any American, in their right mind, would vote for a socialist politician is puzzling. Maybe people just don’t know the history of socialism; its crimes against humanity. Maybe it’s because academia has confused people with misleading definitions of the various forms of socialism.  To set the record straight, socialism in any form is a dystopia devoid of Freedom, Liberty and Justice. It doesn’t matter if it’s called liberalism, progressivism or a democracy because these words are used by socialists to obscure the true nature of their tyrannical communist ideology. The word democracy, that politicians and the media like to throw in our faces every day, is nothing more than a euphemism for socialism. Even the Naz’s referred to their form of socialism as a democracy. Speech to the representatives of the international press at Geneva on September 28. 1933 Joseph Goebbels, Hitler’s Minister of Propaganda, stated: “The modern structure of the German state is a higher form of democracy in which, by virtue of the people’s mandate, the government is exercised authoritatively.”  Authoritatively, when used by socialists, means without question or recourse. That means there’s no higher authority or power. There’s no God, No Justice, No Freedom and No Liberty, and there’s no room for people who believe in a higher power or God’s laws. Unfortunately, many American’s have been misled to believe that socialism is a fairer form of Government; a benevolent paradise. However, history reveals that socialism is more like a prison for the masses. Facing Down Russia and China on the 

African Front

Harold Hutchison:  When we think of confronting Russia and China, the usual places we think of those confrontations taking place are either Europe or the Pacific. But the real conflicts are happening someplace few might expect: Africa.

 

This might sound surprising to many who are familiar with the usual stories of starving children. It is true — many countries, particularly in sub-Saharan Africa, probably fit a certain scatological descriptive term allegedly uttered by President Donald Trump last year. But there is more to Africa than meets the eye.

One big issue: There are a lot of natural resources on and under that continent. Among them are gold (important for the obvious reasons), diamonds (also obviously important), uranium (for nuclear power and nuclear weapons), coal (for energy), and iron (which can be turned into steel for ships, tanks, and other items). And according to MiningAfrica.net, much of Africa’s natural resources are untapped.

China and Russia are greedily eyeing those natural resources. The ChiComs need the resources to propel an economy with more than one billion people. Russia, with its own wealth of natural resources, is going after it for pocketbook reasons: As we explained when discussing the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline, American natural-gas exports shrink the Russian portion of the pie.

The more of the market share of natural gas, oil, or minerals, Russia controls, the easier it is for Vladimir Putin to not only rake in the money, but to also use it as leverage. China had the ability to do the same with rare-earth minerals, until Japan found a motherlode around Marcus Island.

China has been very active in Africa, pushing the so-called “One Belt, One Road” strategy. According to The Daily Signal, China has used debt racked up by countries like Zambia and Djibouti to extract concessions, including the expansion of military bases. Russia has turned to exporting arms in exchange for votes in the United Nations.

National Security Advisor John Bolton, who revealed the new strategy in an event at The Heritage Foundation, pointed out that the Russian and Chinese actions “stunt economic growth in Africa; threaten the financial independence of African nations; inhibit opportunities for U.S. investment; interfere with U.S. military operations; and pose a significant threat to U.S. national security interests.”

The good news is that President Trump has unveiled a new strategy to counter these moves and help get sub-Saharan Africa out from under the thumb of dictators in Moscow and Beijing. According to The Daily Signal, the three-pronged strategy includes enhancing commercial ties, countering radical Islamic terrorism, and taking steps to make the foreign aid we provide effective and efficient.

The fact of the matter is that America has largely ignored sub-Saharan Africa — not out of malice but due to the fact that between the Cold War and the War on Terror, there were bigger fish to fry. But now, Africa is becoming a key geopolitical battleground, and it’s time for America to get on the field.  ~The Patriot Post
