The BDS movement relies on several incorrect statements. First, they claim that “Israel is occupying and colonizing Palestinian land.” Here are the facts. According to the Jewish Virtual Library, the Romans gave the name “Palestine” to the region inhabited by Jewish people in the second century A.D. In 1922, the League of Nations agreed upon the Palestine Mandate in recognition of “the historical connection of the Jewish people with Palestine.” In fact, the Jerusalem Post began as the Palestine Post, and the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra began as the Palestine Symphony Orchestra. After Israel’s independence in 1948, Arabs living in the Gaza Strip or West Bank began referring to themselves as “Palestinian.”
A Jewish presence has existed in the land of Israel for over 3,000 years despite wars and attempts to scatter the Jewish people to other places. During the late 19th and 20th centuries, Jews sought to return to Israel legally, purchase the land and restore it through their own efforts. At the time, the land that later became Israel languished as swamp land and sand dunes. Yet the returning Zionists purchased the land anyway and planted eucalyptus trees that drained the muddy waters, reduced mosquitos and combatted malaria. Note that these Zionists purchased the land with their own funds and restored the land with their own efforts. They have also fought and won several wars defending their land and sovereignty.
The BDS movement also claims that Israel is “discriminating against Palestinian citizens of Israel” and that the BDS movement is “inspired by the South African anti-apartheid movement.” This statement misunderstands South Africa’s apartheid conflict, which legally separated blacks and whites, placing whites in authority over the minority black population. It also forced political, social and economic segregation that prevented black people from voting, participating in government activities, and socializing with whites.
In contrast, Israel’s legal system gives equal rights and equal protection to all of its citizens, whether Arab (i.e. Palestinian) or Jew. Mitchell G. Bard, author of Myths and Facts: A Guide to the Arab-Israeli Conflict, notes, “Israel is one of the few places in the Middle East where Arab women may vote.” In addition, Israel’s two official languages are Hebrew and Arabic and Israel has several Arab political parties.
Further, Israel has never formally annexed the West Bank or Gaza and many of the Palestinians who live there are not Israeli citizens, but rather are subject to their own terrorist governing bodies (Hamas in Gaza and Palestinian Authority in the West Bank).
In terms of international law and human rights violations, the Palestinian terrorist group Hamas, which controls the Gaza strip, has routinely launched rockets from schools, mosques and other civilian centers. Hamas terrorists hide in civilian crowds endangering both Palestinians and Israelis. Deliberately endangering civilians is a violation of the Fourth Geneva Convention (article 28). Moreover, according to a 2015 report by Amnesty International — exactly a conservative or pro-Israel organization — their actions have repeatedly qualified as war crimes under international law.
Using rhetoric of “social justice” and “human rights abuses,” BDS convinces misguided and misinformed students, business leaders, academicians and others to support their cause. Conveniently ignoring the legitimacy of Israel’s claim to the land, their legal system that promotes basic human rights, and the war crimes committed by Palestinian terrorists such as Hamas, BDS hopes to demonize, delegitimize and inflict double standards on the state of Israel while failing to provide realistic or sustainable solutions to the conflict. ~The Patriot Post

Perhaps it’s because Europe has totally given up on Christianity that it has fallen on such hard times over the past few decades. One sure sign was that the College of Cardinals felt the need to look outside the continent to dredge up their latest Pope, Francis, a left-wing activist from Argentina.
A second sign was that they swung open Europe’s doors to Muslims, who, while fleeing from war zones, managed to bring the worst of the violence with them. Of course, that was merely step two in the Islamization of the continent. Step one had taken place years earlier when Europe decided what they really lacked was a steady source of cheap labor. They imported a large number of Muslims, who, in turn, gave birth to a great many additional Muslims, who, like their parents, despised the European infidels, but preferred welfare to working.
Here in America, those who longed for a return to slavery settled for the second-best thing: borders open to a flood of low-skilled illiterates, willing to undercut the wages of our own native-born peons.
We were just luckier than the Europeans. The Hispanics who illegally invaded the U.S. haven’t, at least for the most part, wanted to kill their hosts.
With the creation of the European Union, the member nations were moved to surrender their sovereignty to a bunch of bureaucratic tyrants in Brussels because they feared it was the only way to avoid the outbreak of another war caused by the inevitable invasion of one country France, for instance by another Germany, for instance.
Inasmuch as we decided to chain ourselves to the defense of our NATO allies, you might be interested in knowing that the five largest militaries in the world are China (2.3 million), the U.S. (1.5 million), India (1.3 million), North Korea (1.2 million) and Russia (845,000).
In rounding out the top 10 Pakistan, South Korea, Iran, Turkey and Vietnam, the numbers range from 482,000 to 643,000.
You must scroll all the way down to 24th place to find France (222,000) and 28th to discover Germany (186,000).
Now I’m not saying that numbers are the only things that matter or are even a fair measure of a military’s ability to wage war, but I think in this case it’s a pretty good indication that Europe, the fat socialist whore she has become, is relying almost entirely on America’s ability to defend it if Vladimir Putin decides to expand Russia’s borders westward.
The worst of the worst has been Chancellor Angela Merkel, who apparently thought that harboring a million Muslims in Germany would erase the stain of genocide. Unfortunately, as everyone except, perhaps, Mrs. Merkel, knows, the road to Hell is paved with good intentions. As anyone with half a brain could have told her, you don’t make amends for slaughtering six million Jews by allowing a million latter-day Nazis hold your nation hostage to their vile religion.
● Many of the same people who hold Mrs. Merkel in high regard, and would like to see her rewarded for destroying her nation with a Nobel Peace Prize, are the same jackasses who are convinced that Donald Trump is the worst president we’ve ever had, and hailed Barack liar-nObama as the greatest.
In their unhinged desire to tar Trump in the harshest terms they can imagine, they ignore the fact that he’s married to a foreigner in order to call him xenophobic, and label him a religious bigot despite the fact that his son-in-law is Jewish and that his daughter is a convert to her husband’s religion.
● While on the subject of people slandering the President, the NFL’s commissioner, Roger Goodell, called out Trump for disrespecting the National Football League. Oh, heaven forbid that anyone should utter an unflattering word about a sport in which a growing number of participants exhibit their disrespect make that contempt every Sunday by taking a knee at the playing of the National Anthem.
When Trump suggested that the NFL owners consider firing the 300-pound ingrates, he was speaking for a lot of us. And if Goodell weren’t in the pocket of the Players Union, he would have long ago suggested that the NFL contracts include morality clauses, the way that Hollywood studio contracts used to. That would give team owners the right to can any player arrested for drug use, rape or domestic violence, or for doing anything, such as kneeling for the Anthem, that reflected badly on the team and the league. Of course, even eliminating those guilty of felonies would pretty much decimate the teams.
It’s bad enough when the thugs and hooligans in Black Lives Matter behave like jerks, but when it’s a bunch of pampered millionaires who are letting us know that they regard themselves as victims of white racism, it’s really too big a pill to swallow. And it shouldn’t come as a surprise to Goodell or the team owners that an awful lot of people are finding it easier than they imagined to find something better to do on Sunday besides watching a couple of tons of flesh shoving each other around a football field.
● It’s no surprise that the Climate Change hoaxsters have taken advantage of the recent hurricanes to claim the disasters were inevitable, considering what man is doing to destroy the planet.
But something I heard during a report on Hurricane Maria should not be ignored. The fellow at Weather Central reported that Maria was the strongest hurricane to hit Puerto Rico in over 80 years. That means that in the mid-1930s, which was not merely long before the United States, Russia, China and India, were the industrial giants they are today, but in the midst of the Great Depression that had shut down most of the world’s industrial plants, we had experienced an even worse hurricane.
So, perhaps it’s just possible that sometimes Mother Nature just gets in a lousy mood and decides to let off a little steam, and it’s got nothing to do with a coal plant.
● Something that has troubled me for some time is that socialists and their fellow travelers keep popping up in the strangest places. I mean, in my own extended family, it made a certain amount of sense that my immigrant relatives who worked in the garment industry, alternately sweating or freezing while they sewed for pennies-an-hour in unheated and non-air-conditioned lofts, would be soft targets for the leftwing union organizers.
But I had an equal number of relatives who had made their fortune on Chicago's black market during WWII, and they would drive me nuts raving about the glory of Stalin’s Soviet Union.
Even when I would point out that Stalin would happily have them lined up against a wall and shot because of their black-market activities, not to mention their being absentee landlords and Jewish, they would go on singing the praises of the Worker’s Paradise.
Today, I see something similar taking place with the millionaires and billionaires of Hollywood and the Silicon Valley, all of them promoting left-wing policies they couldn’t conceivably imagine to be in their best interests.
When you see so many people pretending to be something they couldn’t possibly be, there is only one possible conclusion. When those who have garnered the biggest prizes that capitalism has to offer turn on capitalism, the obvious reason is they believe that mouthing socialistic platitudes garners them something that even their fortunes can’t buy them; namely, a reputation for being selfless and virtuous.
It’s called having your cake, along with everyone else’s, and eating it.
● Bob Marcks showed why he is the pride of Scottsdale, AZ, by sending me the following quote attributed to author-educator Medford Stanton Evans: “We have two parties here, and only two. One is the evil party, and the other is the stupid party. I’m very proud to be a member of the stupid party. Occasionally, the two parties get together to do something that’s both evil and stupid. That’s called bipartisanship.”
