The Era of Limbaugh

{ freebeacon.com } ~ Florida governor Ron DeSantis spoke to Rush Limbaugh last fall at a gala dinner for the National Review Institute. The radio host was there to receive the William F. Buckley Jr. award... "He actually gave me one of the greatest compliments I've ever had," Limbaugh told his audience the next day. "He listed five great conservatives and put me in the list." DeSantis's pantheon: William F. Buckley Jr., Ronald Reagan, Antonin Scalia, Clarence Thomas, and Limbaugh. Good list. No media figure since Buckley has had a more lasting influence on American conservatism than Limbaugh, whose cumulative weekly audience is more than 20 million people. Since national syndication in 1988, Limbaugh has been the voice of conservatism, his three-hour program blending news, politics, and entertainment in a powerful and polarizing cocktail. His shocking announcement this week that he has advanced lung cancer, and his appearance at the State of the Union, where President Trump awarded him the Presidential Medal of Freedom, are occasions to reflect on his impact. It's one thing to excel in your field. It's another to create the field in which you excel. Conservative talk radio was local and niche before Limbaugh. He was the first to capitalize on regulatory and technological changes that allowed for national scale. The repeal of the Fairness Doctrine in 1987 freed affiliates to air controversial political opinions without inviting government scrutiny. As music programming migrated to the FM spectrum, AM bandwidth welcomed talk. Listener participation was also critical. "It was not until 1982," writes Nicole Hemmer in Messengers of the Right, "that AT&T introduced the modern direct-dial toll-free calling system that national call-in shows use. "Limbaugh made the most of these opportunities. And he contributed stylistic innovations of his own. He treated politics not only as a competition of ideas but also as a contest between liberal elites and the American public. He added the irreverent and sometimes scandalous humor and cultural commentary of the great DJs. He introduced catchphrases still in circulation: "dittohead," "Drive-By media," "feminazi," "talent on loan from God." The template he created has been so successful that the list of his imitators on both the left and right is endless. Even Al Franken wanted in on the act. Dostoyevsky is attributed with the saying that the great Russian writers "all came out of Gogol's ‘Overcoat.'" Political talk show hosts came out of Limbaugh's microphone... I'm just one of millions who started to listen to Rush in the 80s while working in Oregon. We all will be praying for him.  https://freebeacon.com/columns/the-era-of-limbaugh/?utm_source=actengage&utm_campaign=FreedomMail&utm_medium=email

Appeals court hands Trump win, rules Dem lawmakers cannot sue over business payments

{ foxnews.com } ~ A federal appeals court on Friday unanimously ruled that more than 200 Democratic congressional lawmakers do not have standing to sue President Trump over allegations... he violated the Emoluments Clause over foreign payments to his businesses. “Because we conclude that the Members lack standing, we reverse the district court and remand with instructions to dismiss their complaint,” the Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit said in its ruling. “The House Members can, and likely will, continue to use their weighty voices to make their case to the American people, their colleagues in the Congress and the President himself, all of whom are free to engage that argument as they see fit,” the court continued. “But we will not – indeed we cannot – participate in this debate.” The court added that “the Constitution permits the Judiciary to speak only in the context of an Article III case or controversy and this lawsuit presents neither.” Holding up a copy of the ruling as he departed Washington for a North Carolina event, Trump blasted the suit as a "phony" case. “It was a total win,” he declared. The ruling comes after the court ruled in August that Trump could challenge the lawsuit, saying the litigation raises the "unsettled" question of whether politicians have standing to sue a sitting president for running international businesses. The Emoluments Clause is contained in Article 1, Section 9 of the Constitution and states that “No Title of Nobility shall be granted by the United States: And no Person holding any Office of Profit or Trust under them, shall, without the Consent of Congress, accept of any present, Emolument, Office, or Title of any kind whatsoever, from any King, Prince, or foreign state.” More than 200 congressional Democrats brought the lawsuit against the president in June 2017, alleging that Trump violated the clause. Democrats argued that they had standing to sue because the clause says only Congress may approve foreign gifts and payments. “The framers gave Congress a unique role, a unique right, and responsibility,” Sen. Richard Blumenthal, D-Conn., who helped organize the suit, said at the time. House Judiciary Committee Chairman scumbag liar-Jerry Nadler, D-N.Y., was also involved...   https://www.foxnews.com/politics/appeals-court-hands-trump-win-rules-dem-lawmakers-cannot-sue-over-business-payments
Crime Is on the Rise in New York City

{ freebeacon.com } ~ Major crimes jumped in New York City in January, new data from the NYPD show, bucking the trend of decades of declining crime... Compared with January 2019, the Big Apple saw increases in robbery, assault, burglary, and larceny in the first month of 2020. The new statistics also confirm an increase in crime on the city's subways, a longtime hot spot for violence that was thought to have cooled in the past two decades. The new figures come as the city and state struggle with a controversial new bail reform law, which mandates the release of most nonviolent offenders before trial. The uptick in crime will likely add fuel to the fire for opponents eager to see Albany modify the law or scrap it altogether. In total, New York City in January saw a 16.9 percent increase in "index crimes" the offenses tracked nationally to measure the crime rate compared with January 2019. That figure includes an added 347 robberies, 116 assaults, 192 burglaries, 358 larcenies, and 243 car thefts. The city did see six fewer murders, but 15 more shooting incidents. It also saw 25 fewer rapes, although the NYPD noted that rape "continues to be underreported. "Statistics also show an added 60 transit crimes, translating into a 30 percent increase. As the Washington Free Beacon previously reported, the city saw an uptick last year in subway harassment, robbery, and sex crimes on the MTA—an increase that mirrored a surge in transit crime in San Francisco...

MSNBC's Chris Matthews floats
scumbag/liar-Adam Schiff for president

{ washingtonexaminer.com } ~ MSNBC host Chris Matthews proposed the long shot notion of nominating Rep. scumbag/liar-Adam Schiff to represent the Democratic Party in the 2020 election contest against President Trump... The California Democrat, who is chairman of the House Intelligence Committee and lead impeachment manager, is not running for the White House, but as Matthews noted, he could be picked in a brokered Democratic convention. After all, frustration with the nomination process is mounting after the Democratic Party botched its handling of the Iowa caucuses. "What happens ... if somebody has 45% or 42%? It’s not close, and nobody else has that much. Does everybody else buckle to that, can you go to somebody who isn't running?" the host asked a panelist Tuesday. "No, you can go to anyone," former New York Rep. Steve Israel said. "You can go Chris Matthews if they want to." Matthews, 74, responded by asking if scumbag/liar-Schiff could be a possibility. "How about scumbag/liar-Adam Schiff?" he said. "Could they all agree, 'Let's give it to scumbag/liar-Schiff?'" Israel said Democrats could give the nomination to anyone, including scumbag/liar-Schiff. The likelihood of a contested convention remains low. No nominating convention has gone more than one ballot since Democrats gathered in Chicago and nominated Illinois Gov. Adlai Stevenson on the third round of voting in 1952. The thinking mind of a liberal is so sick why didn't you select liar-Pelosi? Instead of scumbag/liar-Schiff.  https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/news/msnbcs-chris-matthews-floats-adam-schiff-for-president-in-a-brokered-convention
Arab media: Coronavirus a sinister U.S. plot

by wnd.com ~ The deadly coronavirus now spreading from China is the product of a sinister plot by the United States, according to several Arab writers in the Middle East... Some say the U.S. is trying to profit by selling vaccines to treat the coronavirus and other viruses, according to the Middle East Media Research Institute, or MEMRI. Others see it as part of an economic and psychological war waged by the U.S. against other nations. The aim, the writers say, is to weaken China and make it appear to be a third-world nation incapable of handling such an outbreak. In the Saudi daily Al-Watan, writer Sa'ud Al-Shehry claimed the coronavirus was a plot by American and Israeli drug companies aimed at increasing their profits. "A 'wonder' virus was discovered yesterday in China; tomorrow it will be discovered in Egypt, but it will not be discovered either today, tomorrow or the day after tomorrow in the U.S. or Israel, nor in poor countries such as Burundi or the Comoro Islands," he wrote, according to MEMRI. He wrote that the coronavirus, known to have been discovered in 1960, has normal flu symptoms, including coughing, congestion, diarrhea and fever. It's strange, therefore, Shehry said, to hear the World Health Organization saying "this is a virus first discovered in 2012 in Saudi Arabia, in a camel." "And here is something else that's strange: As soon as Egypt announced a few years ago" that it no longer needed poultry from the U.S., France and other countries, suddenly "there appeared, from underneath the ground, the avian flu virus." It had the aim, the writer said, of "nipping Egypt's economic awakening in the bud." Hussein Saqer, a columnist for the Syrian daily Al-Thawra, made similar claims in a Feb. 3 column. He said the coronavirus was part of a commercial-biological-psychological war waged by the U.S. against China. "From Ebola, zika, SARS, avian flu and swine flu, through anthrax and mad cow disease to the coronavirus – all these deadly viruses were manufactured by the U.S. and threaten to annihilate the peoples of the world," he wrote. Sager said the U.S. "has turned biological warfare into a new type of war, by means of which it intends to change the rules of play and shift the conflict with the peoples of the world away from the conventional path." On the Egyptian news website Vetogate.com, journalist Ahmad Rif'at explained why the U.S. chose the Chinese city of Wuhan as the epicenter of the disease... These people are sick and totally lying.

Global Warming's 50 Years of Fraud
By Jack Hellner
{ americanthinker.com } ~ The theory for those pushing the green new deal or some other radical energy policy that will destroy tens of millions of jobs and greatly harm the poor and middle class is that humans, CO2, and fossil fuels cause warming and climate change... This warming causes the ice to melt in Alaska, then the melting ice causes sea levels to rise and the rising sea levels will cause coastal cities to under water. They have predicted the coastal cities to disappear for the last 100 years and they have been wrong for 100 years. Meanwhile, Alaska has been exceptionally cold for the last few months. As a nerd who knows that the people pushing the garbage theory of humans causing climate change is based on a series of lies, I look at actual data. It is a shame most of the media, entertainers and other Democrats just repeat talking points instead of doing research. January 2020 was the 15th coldest January on record in Fairbanks Alaska. At negative 27 degrees. it was over 13 degrees below average this year. Obviously, the ice will be thickening faster than average and is not going to be gone as predicted. Here is a small sample of predictions and fear articles over the years. 1922-Article by AP in Washington Post and elsewhere saying icecaps were melting, oceans were dying, and coastal cities would disappear. 1970-First Earth Day. We were scared with articles that billions would die soon from catastrophic cooling. 1975-Newsweek-Doom and gloom article called “The Cooling World” 1989-Back to warming. The UN essentially repeated the warnings from 1922 article and said we only had ten years to solve the problem. 2008-ABC ran fear story saying much of Miami and New York City would be under water by 2015. 2019- The UN again repeated the same warnings from 1922 and 1989 and again we have only ten years left. How did the Earth cool so much from 1945 to 1976 that we got warnings of catastrophic cooling if rising CO2, humans and fossil fuels cause warming? The answer is there is no correlation between CO2, population, fossil fuel use and temperature. Humans can’t control the temperature of the sun, tilt of the sun, solar activity, distance the Earth is from the sun, daily rotation of the Earth, annual orbit of the Earth, high tides, low tides, the Jetstream, El Nino, or La Nina but we are told that if we give politicians and bureaucrats trillions of dollars they can control the sea level, temperature and sea levels forever. Does that make sense? A clear indication that the theory that fossil fuels, rising CO2 and humans cause global warming or climate change is a hoax or a series of lies is that the globe had a significant cooling period from 1945 to 1976. It cooled so much that it was predicted on the first Earth Day in 1970 that we were having a disastrous cooling period where billions would die from starvation...

A (Carter) Page Turns in the Annals of the Deep State

John J. Bastiat:  Last week brought news that former Trump campaign adviser Carter Page has filed suit in federal court against Perkins Coie, the Democratic National Committee (DNC) law firm, and a number of others responsible for catalyzing the FBI’s unconstitutional witch hunt against Page. Recall that justification for the surveillance warrant executed against Page was based on the now-infamous “Steele dossier.”

Alluding to the Steele dossier, the lawsuit states the defendants “used false information, misrepresentations and other misconduct to direct the power of the international intelligence apparatus and the media industry against [Page] to further their political agenda.” The suit further alleges, “Defendants leveraged these fabrications within the FBI and the United States Department of Justice, leading these agencies to present false applications to the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court (‘FISC’).” Yep, that all sounds about right.

Page’s attorneys stated that this initial suit is merely “the first of multiple actions in the wake of historic” Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) abuse and that it “is a first step to ensure that the full extent of the FISA abuse that has occurred during the last few years is exposed and remedied.” Page attorney John Pierce further explained, “Defendants and those they worked with inside the federal government did not and will not succeed in making America a surveillance state.” Pierce added, “This is only the first salvo. We will follow the evidence wherever it leads, no matter how high.”

Setting aside for a moment the question of whether Page has a hope-in-hell chance of succeeding in court against those infesting the very core of the deep state, we applaud this valiant attempt nonetheless. That said, the battle will most certainly be uphill. For instance, we recently reported about the appointment of former Obama-era Justice Department official David Kris to “clean up” these matters, by the FISC’s new presiding judge, James Boasberg. The Reader’s Digest version of that report: Kris is a feckless shill. As House Intelligence Committee Ranking Member Devin Nunes (R-CA) summarized: “The FBI lied to the FISC, and to help make sure that doesn’t happen again, the FISC chose an FBI apologist who denied and defended those lies. The FISC is setting its own credibility on fire.”

To think this kind of thing is a fluke or happens rarely is to completely misapprehend the magnitude of the deep-state problem and threat. A more accurate picture derives from contemplating the chilling prospect that, but for Donald Trump’s wrench-in-the-gears upset of presidential-heir-apparent scumbag/liar-Hillary Clinton’s enthronement, the most sophisticated intelligence and state law-enforcement agencies on the planet would still be arrayed against any and all enemies of the deep state. As it stands, although progress has been made, the war against the deep state is far from over and the winner — republican government or the deep state — has yet to be determined. And make no mistake: At-risk sleazy shadow-lurkers will pull out all the stops to ensure the truths behind their motives and acts never see the light of day in a court proceeding.

A bellwether in determining which side has the upper hand in this battle thus far is to observe whether Page’s suit reaches the “discovery” stage of proceedings, because it is this stage in which both sides are compelled to disclose a great deal of information in preparation for the trial. “Discoverable” information could include, for example, emails evidencing the DNC’s intent and acts regarding the Steele dossier, as well as a host of communications between the entities coordinating the conspiracy against Page and other targeted parties. In other words, the discovery stage is a powder keg waiting on a spark. Whether the keg’s fuse is lit or water is thrown on it will ultimately be determined by the relative strengths of the sides in this battle. For our part, of course, we’re hoping for fireworks.   ~The Patriot Post
