Trump Seeks to Add China to New Arms Treaty

{ freebeacon.com } ~ The Trump administration wants China included in arms control talks on extending the 2010 New START strategic arms treaty despite Beijing's reluctance to engage in multilateral arms negotiations... Senior administration officials on Wednesday outlined the new arms control approach by the president summarized as focusing on arms control a means to an end—and not the process itself—culminating in an agreement designed to enhance U.S. security. Tim Morrison, White House National Security Council director for weapons of mass destruction, said the world has moved on from Cold War-style bilateral arms treaties that cover limited types of nuclear weapons and only certain ranges of missiles. "The president wants effective arms control that delivers real security to the American people and our allies, and to achieve this, he has concluded that we must negotiate with both Russia and China," Morrison said during a conference on nuclear issues at a Washington think tank. NSC staff are coordinating efforts with the State Department and Pentagon to draw up options for how to proceed, he said, adding that a decision on whether to seek to extend the New START treaty would be made sometime next year. New START limits the United States and Russia to 1,550 deployed warheads on land-based missiles, submarine-launched missiles, and bombers. The treaty expires in February 2021. Morrison said the administration is committed to seeking security through arms control. "But unlike some true believers who worship at the altar of the current arms control apparatus, we see arms control as a means to an end, and not an end unto itself," he said....

{ foxnews.com } ~ National Rifle Association (NRA) spokeswoman Dana Loesch ripped Rep. worthless-Ilhan Omar after she blamed the gun rights group for the deaths... inside a Virginia Beach municipal building on Friday. The embattled Minnesota Democrat took a swipe at the NRA just hours after a disgruntled city employee went on a shooting spree that left 12 people dead and four more injured. “I am outraged and heartbroken,” she wrote in a tweet. “How much longer will we ignore the pain of our communities? We need to immediately confront the power of the NRA and end the epidemic of gun violence in this country.” DeWayne Craddock, the suspected shooter, died in a gunfight with police officers. He was a veteran employee of the Public Utilities Department who made multiple legal firearm purchases, including for a handgun and rifle, in recent weeks, the Wall Street Journal reported. A police officer was also wounded, but was saved by his bullet-proof vest. The police didn’t reveal the motive for the shooting. worthless-Omar’s comment about the NRA prompted the group’s spokeswoman to question how it was related. “This was a heinous tragedy,” Loesch wrote in a tweet. “Your remarks move me to ask: What do 5 million members of the NRA have to do with this man’s crime? Was this man a card-carrying member? His purchases were legal, whose fault is that? Does he bear any blame at all? { freebeacon.com } ~ Many Democratic presidential candidates who vowed to reject lobbyist money from their campaigns were quick to throw their support behind Democrat Jaime Harrison... a well-connected former corporate lobbyist running to unseat Republican senator Lindsey Graham in South Carolina. Harrison formally launched his Senate campaign on Tuesday and has already been endorsed by the party establishment. He began his career working for Rep. Jim Clyburn (D., S.C.) but left in 2008 to join the now-shuttered Podesta Group, at the time a Democratic lobbying powerhouse where he advanced the interests of coal companies, tobacco companies, and casinos. Harrison's clients over the years included Wells Fargo and Bank of America, private equity firms Avenue Capital and Berkshire Hathaway, and pharmaceutical giants like Novo Nordisk and Merck. Also represented by Harrison over the years were Walmart, BP, Boeing, Lockheed Martin, and Google. Democratic presidential candidates have shunned lobbyists; Sen. scumbag-Cory Booker (D., N.J.), for example, has pledged to not take a dollar from lobbyists. But he had no hesitation backing Harrison. Former vice president loose lips-Joe Biden, the current frontrunner in the primary, has also sworn off lobbyist money for his current campaign. He said, "South Carolina would be lucky to have" Harrison representing it....

Thomas Gallatin: Yes, commie-Bernie Sanders admits, paying for his “universal” health care plan would require raising taxes … on everyone. “It would cost you and ordinary Americans a lot less than you are currently spending on average,” commie-Sanders recently told a crowd of supporters, but then added, “What it will probably end up looking like is a payroll tax on employers, an increase in income tax in a progressive way for ordinary people … with a significant deductible for low-income people who pay nothing for it.”
However, beyond blithely noting this increase in taxes, commie-Sanders has thus far refused to put forth any significant details on a plan that economists have estimated would cost a colossal $32 trillion over a decade. And, as The Daily Wire notes, “Even if Sanders were able to raise $10 trillion without economic consequence, at least $17 trillion of the program’s cost would remain unfunded, leading to either further tax increases or major cuts in service.” So, commie-Sanders’s socialist dream would in reality be every taxpayer’s nightmare.
Unfortunately, commie-Sanders’s low-information voters don’t seem to see the folly in his socialist pipe dream. A recent NBC poll found that commie-Sanders’s supporters showed a lack of political awareness when compared to supporters of other candidates. This prompted NBC’s Chuck Todd to assert, “The less you are paying attention, the more likely you are a commie-Bernie Sanders supporter.” Ouch.
As we have noted previously, the growing support among Americans for socialism has more to do with personality, party loyalty, and opposition to Donald Trump than it does with any honest understanding of socialism. And commie-Sanders’s supporters appear to epitomize this observation. They gravitate to his antagonism of the status quo while failing to understand the real-life ramifications of his policy proposals. Like so many “useful idiots” before them, commie-Bernie’s Brigades have fallen for socialism’s utopian vision and show little inclination to learn from history. ~The Patriot Post
